Can someone with the 5.7.893 OTA whose webtop works and shows the proper version (as opposed to unknown) please pull and post a link to the following webtop files:
DockService.odex
PortalApp.odex
DockService.apk
PortalApp.apk
Thanks
It is also very important whenever anyone gets a file from the test servers via the cheesecake app to pull the file from the /cache directory and copy it to the sdcard-ext directory so you can save it for general use and analysis for what is valuable.
Thanks!

Sorry guys I am so tired and have read 1000 threads but just want to make sure where I am going. If anyone could help it would be much appreciated.
On 5.5.893 Rooted/4ever-rooted/HIFT3R[D3]BLURV2.1
What is the route upwards to 5.7?
I have seen so many different things posted in so many different threads I have just about forgot who my own wife is due to my head being so scrambled right now. Well, I guess that's not such a bad thing. Lol... No really, I do love her but at this time my Bionic is number 1 for the next few hrs.
Thanks again for any info that is given.
Tim
There is a 5.5.886 to 5.7.893 leaked ota which you will need.
The issue with webtop was the 5.6.893 mr1.
By applying the leaked update mentioned above you will have a working webtop.
Follow the instructions in this thread.

You should be able to, but make sure you make a backup of 5.7.893 before you do just in case it doesn't work and you need to go back.
I already have a backup of 5.7, so I went back to 5.5.893 and did the update, and although I did forever root, I lost root. But I manually installed it, so all is right with the world again.
I can get these to you.

Does anyone have a backup of 6.893?
Typically I am very diligent, but somehow I forgot to make a backup of stock.
I have not switched to any other update. I have read through everything thoroughly and I apologize for failing to follow instructions. With 5 android devices and multiple flashes I have never missed this before. And I realized it as soon as I flashed TH3ORYS rom
From what I gather the easiest and most effective way to get back on track is to flash a stock 6.893 rom make a backup and move on from there.
I appreciate anyone's help!
I am also open to using this thread or creating one in delopment to post the stock roms of every version.

Not entirely true. His system will be back to 5.5.886, but his kernel/radio will be his previously upgraded 5.6.893. He is off the upgrade path until he gets the matching system file of 5.6.893. Only then can he continue updating. I just went through this exact thing, used the one step recovery, but went back to .886 and had to beg to find someone to send me a CWR back up of their 5.6.893, which got me back on track.
Oh yeah...nevermind. I completely thought you were wanting stock not the ota. That's what I get for speed reading.

I'm afraid I dont, I got back to 5.6.893 then immediately upgraded to 5.7.893 and backed that up, since .6.893 was no good to me any more. I'm sorry.

Wont it fail because I'm not coming from stock? And if I go all the way back it wont work because ill end up with a hybrid?

I'm in the same situation. Yes, all attempts to upgrade fail because our sys filed don't match our radio. I need this nandroid as well.

Giving someone a backup made on your device or restoring a backup made on someone else's device is an extremely foolhardy proposition. You are cloning the Android_id from one device to the other, which means that apps that use it as an identifier will push and pull data from both devices without any intervention from the unknowingly affected user.
system img
correct me if im wrong but, all we need is the system img right because im stuck with a hybrid
Does anyone know if restoring my 5.893 back up will work, or create a hybrid? I ask because I think it is the same radios?

Check your pms and please don't share in case there is some of my data still left in the backup. just download all the files and put them in a folder and put in your clockwork backup folder on your sd/ext, probably the best way is to restore with advanced restore and just restore system only.

I have really been through the ringer today. I started off this morning by noticing that I had no data at all. I was on 6.893 and TH3ORYROM 2.1 and have been for a few days with no trouble until today when I lost data. I tried everything to get it back, but nothing. I called VZW to make sure there wasn't a network problem in my area and they suggested that I try everything that I had already done (bat. pull, sim card re-register, turn off LTE radio, etc). When they couldn't fix anything, they wanted to transfer me to tier 2 tech support, but they apparently need to talk to me on a different phone so they can diagnose this one, but I didn't have access to another phone. So I decided I would try to flash one of the updates hoping it would reflash the radio file and wake it up. When I got home, I used the R3L3AS3DRoot to restore to stock and tried to install 7.893, but the update failed. I searched around and tried every method I could to get any of the updates to install, but nothing worked, still no 3g either. Eventually, in my desperate attempt to fix this myself I decided to wipe everything and start over. I wiped the webtop partition. I think that's what really screwed me up, because nothing else I did was any different that what I've done in the past. After wiping everything, I went back to the R3L3AS3DRoot and tried to run it. No matter which option I selected, it seemed to run fine, but I couldn't boot past the fastboot screen. I tried to fxz using RSD Lite, but every flash I tried failed. Then, in a panic, I came across P3's moto-fastboot method used to "get you back on the update path". I ran that and it freaking worked!! Then I figured I'd try to get up to 7.893, but I've tried absolutely everything I can find mention of and nothing works. Every install fails. I am getting some intermittent 3G now though. And to top it all off, I discovered that none of the nandroid backups I've made will restore and most of them don't even exist. I just discovered that I needed to check "use external storage" for the backups to take. I thought I had been covering my ass by making backups, but they weren't valid. Currently I have stock, rooted phone with an intermittent 3G signal. System Version 5.5.886, baseband CDMA_N_03.1C.57RLTEDC_U_05.15.02, kernel [email protected] #1, and build number 5.5.1_84_DBN-55. As I sit now, my plan is to see how it acts tomorrow and if I still have a lot of trouble with data, I will return it to stock unrooted and take it into a Verizon store and see if they will let me try a new SIM card. I don't really know what else to do at this point.
I know it breaks forever root, but can it be manually be rooted? Also Im on 5.7.893 stock bloated and the 1.1mb update fails install for me, is this a blessing in disguise?
From what I understand, all it does is break forever root. I don't think there is any reason to try to install it. I haven't heard anyone comment about it being rooted if you do install it though. But I have heard that whatever they push OTA will be able to be rooted using an undisclosed method of root that will not be made available until after the OTA is pushed. Just what I've heard.

Same as I have heard, the only reason I would try to update to it is to stay on the upgrade path for future updates, and why it wouldnt install on mine when Im at 5.7.893.
If you are currently "forever rooted", installing the update will fail. You would need to back out the forever root to apply.

Nope, Im not. I tried to forever root but it failed, so I did it manually. I was at 5.7.893 but lost webtop, so I made a backup of 5.7.893, and used the method of going back to 5.5.886 and used the 54mb 5.5.886-5.7.893 that restores webtop, but didnt make a new backup of 5.7.893 with webtop, and went back to my backup of reblurred. Maybe I should have made a new back up of 5.7.893?

NO UPDATER LEFT BEHIND!
so what does .894 improve or change
From what Ive heard it to solely break forever root, but I have no confirmation if manual rooting still works.
Manual rooting doesn't work it's been broke for a long time. All the leaks broke manual root.

Hey guys, i'm not rooted and updated using three file process to get to system version 5.7.893 only to realize that my webtop was there but not working or as they say broken. A known problem in the three fill update process. I kept reading you have to revet to stock via the method posted and then use the single update file package of 54mb to have webtop again.
I didn't want to do that because the process wipes the phone. So i downloaded the single file blur.....5.5.886.XT875 which is supposed to bring you to 5.7.893 after reverting to stock in order to have webtop. Put it on sd and booted in recovery and told it update from sd card.
It went smoothly. So now i have a software version i was really loving because my phone was running smoothly on 7.893 but now i also have webtop again. Version 1 it says.
And i confirmed i was on 5.7.893 before trying this. So i'm not sure it will work for everyone, but according to the instructions given, i didn't have to go through all of that.
If i'm going to run into problems in the future - someone alet me. If not i hope it works for other. Love my webtop.
If someone already posted this somewhere, sorry. Be easy on me

yes i am very certain that i lost it. when i was sitting on ver. 5.5893 webtop was very unstable. then when i got up to 7.893 it was gone. i could not access it from the drop down menue when on the dock nothing. i am quite certain it was gone. i battery pull etc etc and nothing there was no option to run it from anywhere. i tried several times. It is curious though that i can install the one package file even with no revert and after already installing the three separate files and you can't. i ran it again last night and it installed just fine again so idk.
OK all, I really messed up my phone, first I could not get it to restore using RSD but finally got that figured out, but now no matter which method I use I can't get root back on it. I get permission errors when trying to push su & busybox using dhacker29 bionic pathsaver. I have pushed different restore file versions on 902 right now, and even tried to restore to an earlier version using Bionic Pathsaver and they all fail to push. The phone us up right now on 902 but there has to be something hanging around mucking it up.
Is there anything I can do or am I pretty much screwed. At lease I have it up and running and things work, so it is not a total loss. Just no root.
Thanks

I've encountered this problem before. First did you try MotoFail? If you did and it still doesn't root, you have to go to Stock 5.8.886. Run R3l3AS3DRoot and 43V3R Root. And if you want to update go here.
Did try motofail
I did try motofail and it did not complete and think that may be my problem, the phone works but it never end the routine and gives me the PASS. On the second link I have been trying to get into it for the last several hours but it is dead. R3l3AS3DRoot and 43V3R Root

Sounds like the system files on the phone have been modified by a rooted application. In other words, the phone isn't completely "stock" anymore, and the update verifies that the system is still the way Verizon wants it to be before applying the update.
You may end up having to flash your phone back to 905 and apply the update again.

I cannot get OTA to install either. I am stock rooted with 4ever root and also have voodoo. No frozen apps. I get the android unpacking screen then get a triangle with exclamation point and it reboots. I have tried rooted and using temporary unroot with voodoo. I've read Safestrap needs to be uninstalled, is it so for Bootstrap also, because I do have Bootstrap installed. House of Bionic mirrors have been broken until this morning, so I'm in the process of downloading the OTA file now, but, I expect the result will be the same (just won't have to keep downloading it from verizon after every failed install). Thanks in advance!

Get rid of anything resembling root or custom bootstraps. I would FXZ to 905 to be honest (if you have never gone past .232!!), and just wipe it all out. After OTA, use motofail or HoB to root it again, and all is good in the world.

Yes, I read your post, just as I read this one. You said it "could" be due bootstrap, while I appreciate your efforts to help in that attempt, that was not a definitive answer. I was hoping someone more knowledgeable could give me a more meaningful answer so I could focus my efforts where they were going to matter. Hypothetically, someone who knew the answer to this may have chosen not to respond to your post and only when they saw the question posed later, decided to answer. For example, are there any responses to the post you are referencing, which, you think I didn't read? Waiting....uh, NO. Are there any responses to my post? Two helpful and one completely not. I'll let you figure out which is which. So let me take this opportunity to thank meturne2 and digitalr0gue (even if you did insinuate that I didn't read the post) for the useful answers. But, if you promise to hold your breath, I will give you a thanks for your oh so helpful post. Really, I will

It's kind of hard for me to give someone a definite answer about bootstrap if they don't say they have it installed or not. If they give no details about what they have on their system, it could be bootstrap. How am I supposed to give a definite answer about it being bootstrap if they don't say they have bootstrap installed. Chances are is that most people who are having problems, are having them due to either safestrap, bootstrap, or some other mod installed. If they don't have any mods installed, then the issue would probably be bootstrap or safestrap. Since I cannot look at their phone to see for sure, then yeah, it is a probably. If you can read someone mention something about it probably being bootstrap, wouldn't it be easier to look into it instead of asking another question thats probably already been asked at least 10 times through the various forums.. Most of these things can be found if you look.

Having the same issues as you, did you ever get your update installed? I did the whole voodoo thing but the update still failed. I have unfrozen all apps. I am stock. Any light you could shine on this issue would be a great help! Thanks!

If you're really that stuck, you can find the .246 fxz file and use RSDLite to flash it to your device. You'll lose everything on your internal SD card, but the external will be fine. For the .246 fxz file, google "bionic 246 fxz xda" and for the instructions on how to do this, google " [GUIDE] Easiest Step-By-Step Tutorial For Upgrading Your Bionic To ICS". Both should come up with xda links to the applicable topics.

Do you have bootstrap or safestrap still installed? If so, it won't install and you will have to remove them first for it to install.
If you have any hacks installed, you will also have the same problem with it not installing. Everything has to be stock and not modified for updates to install.

So if I remove Bionic bootstrap I will be able to do the update without the RSDLite method? I am not sure I want to go the RSDLite way, scares me that I might mess something up. I have done no other mods or hacks, but do have the bootstrap installed.
I guess my next question would be, if removing bionic bootstrap does not allow me to update, can I not just do a factory reset and reinstall all my apps?
Thanks for helping me out!
