[EXT3 + Turbo Kernel] GoDroid v8 Froyo 2.2.2 Build
Kernel: Duckly's Turbo with keypad drivers not as modules.
Launcher: Go Launcher EX.
After following different ROMs for my Xperia x1, in this new version I’ve decided to add my reviews to an eclectic ROM based on Needo (I remastered his Honeycomb framework), Neopeek (I took part of NeoFroyo build structure and I've used it as a base, great work), jerrytan93 (I've decided not to use his implementations), helicopter88 (we just use Midnight v9 Kernel for installing the rom in EXT3 format) and XDAndroid (FRX07) developments. So, special thanks and credits for all of them.
Modifications included that I consider fundamental respect advances made in other roms:
- A versatile launcher.
- Battery icon shows % sync.
- An ext3 format without journaling to waste less battery.
- No key freeze, no SOD.
- Market problems solved.
- Wifi-tether problems solved.
- Unstable wifi problem caused market solved.
- Bootanimation changed.
Now, everything is working except camera.
The rom only include English and Spanish language. But inside the bundle you can find GoKeyboard (to be installed by your own) and I've uploaded for Gokeyboard the next language package (to be installed by your own, too): LangPackage.zip (Arabic, Bulgarian, Croatian, Czech, Danish, Dutch, Filipino, Finnish, French, Georgian, German, Greek, Hebrew, Hindi, HongKong, Hungarian, Indonesia, Italian, Japanese, Lithuanian, Norwegian, Persian, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Russian, Slovak, Slovanian, Spanish, Swedish, Taiwanese, Thai, Turkish, Ukrainian, Urdu, Vietnamese)
Changelog GoDroid v8
- Added Whatsapp v2.7.
- Added Load Monitor v1.4.2.
- Added Quick Settings v.1.9 (credits to izzyk)
- Added GoLauncherEX v2.63 (I use that version for better performance).
- Added GoDialer and GoContacts v2.05 (fix phone call problems, credits to casualt).
- Added GoLocker v1.04 (Click “Menu>Preferences>Theme Settings>GO Locker” to use it).
HOW TO:
01. Download the bundle: “GoDroid_v8.0.9_bundle.zip”
02. Install the new bundle following the next instructions.
(NOTE: Please check the downloaded files name because some web browser rename them adding an space bar between the dot and the file extension, for example: GoDroid_v8.0.9_bundle.^zip)
*01. Instructions:
01. Remove the SIM card till the installation will finish.
02. Split the SDcard with Minitool Partition manager (Freeware Home Edition) into 4 partitions (it’s important to set the partitions as PRIMARY):
---> 1st partition: FAT32 (SDcard / Rest)
---> 2nd partition: EXT3 (System / about 150 MB)
---> 3rd partition: EXT3 (Data / about 250 MB)
---> 4th partition: EXT3 (Cache / about 100 MB)
03. Unzip the bundle file using 7zip.
04. Then you will get a bunch of files.
05. Copy all the files in the root of the FAT32 partition into the memory card.
06. Don't copy them in a folder just in the root otherwise Android will not work.
07. Run "haret.exe" (settled in npkboot folder) using WM File Explorer. Wait until the screen show “Press Volume Down shortly to launch ClockworkMod Recovery”, press Volume Down button.
08. Thereby in “CWM Recovery menu”, choose "install zip from SD card > choose zip from sdcard >", select “GoDroid_v8.zip”. Be patient, wait till “Installation Completed”.
09. Press OK key in the pad and go back to “reboot system” in CWM menu.
10. Run “haret.exe” again, this time let the phone boot into Android completely.
11. Be patient, wait till the build is fully installed.
12. Before reboot follow the next instructions.
*02. Before second reboot (first time boot into Android):
01. Go to “Settings > Wireless and Network > Mobile Networks>”, uncheck “Data Enabled” (very important).
02. Go to “Settings > Wireless and Network >”, turn on the Bluetooth and wait till the phone detect any other Bluetooth Device (very important).
03. Go to “Settings > Location & Security >”, check “Use wireless networks” so that you can use your GPS.
04. Go to “Settings > Location & Security > Set up screen lock > Pattern”. So, you avoid the noisy locked screen vibration.
05. Go to “Settings > Display > Brightness >" and adjust a different brightness of the screen. So, you avoid the light on function keys when X1 is in standby. For better performance disable "auto-rotate screen" and "animations", too.
06. Launch Load Monitor app, go to “Menu > Preference >” and enable “Add Notification, Only notify high load, Auto start, Update interval 30 min., Wake lock”.
07. Press Phone button and choose GoDialer as default app (fix phone call problems, credits to casualt).
08. “Power Off” the mobile. Now take out the SD and replace the npkboot folder for this one:"npkboot.zip"
(NOTE: We only use Midnight kernel for install the rom in ext3 format, after we change "npkboot" folder for having Turbo Kernel. Jump step 08th if you want to continue using Midnight Kernel).
*03. Second reboot (GAPPS installation):
01. Download “GoDroid_GAPPS.zip”
02. Run “haret.exe” again, go into CWM Recovery, choose "install zip from SD card > choose zip from sdcard >", select "GoDroid_GAPPS.zip".
03. After finish install, reboot phone.
04. Run “haret.exe” again and leave it to continue booting into Android.
05. Now "clear Market data" and "uninstall updates" (Setting > Application > Manage applications > Market). After that disable Market Updater:
---> Install TerminalEmulator.apk (included in the bundle).
---> Type the following command in the terminal emulator:
---> su *PRESS ENTER*
---> pm disable com.android.vending.updater *PRESS ENTER AGAIN*
06. And reboot and run haret.exe again. That's all.
*04. Boot GoDroid automatically in your phone (DualBoot from Windows Mobile):
01. Run Windows Mobile.
02. Install "Gen.Y DualBOOT WVGA v1.0.6.0-Storage Card.cab" in Windows Mobile (it’s inside the bundle). You have to install it to "\Storage Card", not "\Windows", take care of that.
03. After it's installed, you have to edit the Windows Mobile Registry using "Total Commander" file explorer (inside the bundle). The registry location is at [\\\Plugin\Registry\HKCU\Software\Gen.Y\DualBOOT]. <--- This is located in the android mobile root but not in storage card root.
04. Inside DualBOOT folder find a registry named "AndroidBootFolder", click it and write “npkboot” without quotations marks. I've left a list describing what the keys are for:
---> "AndroidBootFolder"= npkboot <----- boot haret.exe from npkboot folder: \Storage Card\npkboot\haret.exe
---> "AutoBootAndroid"= 1 <----- 1 if you want to autoboot Android or 0 for autobooting Windows
---> "AutoBootEnabled"= 1 <----- 1 for enabling autoboot or 0 for disabling it
---> "FastBootEnabled"= 1 <----- 1 for enabling fastboot or 0 for disabling it
---> "StorageBootMode"= 1 <----- 1 always, take care of this setting
(Note: If you don't manage with Total Commander, as well you can use "PHM Registry Editor" for editing the registry: [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Gen.Y\DualBOOT]).
05. Reboot the mobile and changes will take effect.
*05. Wifi-Tether 3.1 Beta 6:
(I was the first to find the wifi-tether solution for xperia x1 in FRX07 and jerrytan93 included it in SenseDroid_v7 changelog)
01. Wifi-tether shouldn't be installed if you ain't going to use it.
02. Install WifiTether.apk (included in the bundle).
03. Launch the app.
04. Go to "settings".
05. Then go to "Change Device-Profile" and choose HTC Desire (GSM) and start tethering.
06. Without stop tethering go again to "settings>Change Device-Profile>" and choose HTC Dream.
07. Now stop tethering and start again.
(Important: sometimes after using wifi-tether, it stops the wifi interface and we can't use the wifi because the system gives an error. It is not necessary to reboot, to rearm the wifi is easy using again wifi-tether. Inside of wifi-tether, we have to go again to "Change Device-Profile" and choose HTC Desire (GSM) and start tethering. Without stop tethering go again to "settings>Change Device-Profile>" and choose HTC Dream).
NOTES:
* If you want better battery performance, uninstall LoadMonitor app or any Taskmanager you've already installed.
* Wifi have to switch on in WM before booting Android or else you will get error message.
* Silent the phone before booting Android so that you will have sound in Android.
* Charge your phone before booting Android so that you can charge your phone in Android.
* DO NOT install GAPPS directly after finish installing the build or else you will get a serious problem.
* NEVER try to sync your phone with Google before installing GAPPS or else you will get serious problem.
* Changes needed to have GoDroid in your BlackStone (credits to jerrytan93):
---> Edit the build.prop and delete the 'ro.sw.rotation=180' line
---> Change the lib 'surfaceflinger' in my build with the one in your Blackstone Android build.
---> Use your BlackStone's kernel and calibration.
* To solve incoming calls problems, put calls on hold. If making a phone call you can't hear anything, just turn the speakers on and off and it will work. If the touch screen isn't responding, then use the pad and move to the speakers and click it on and off (credits to izzyk).
* Let me remind you that it is important remove the SIM card before installing GoDroid rom and wait till everything is done to use the sim card. And for changing between 3G to GPRS network, first always set the mobile in Airplane Mode. Due to a bug in Froyo 2.2.2, the bug reboots Android OS when you change between 3g to 2g. As the system doesn't close properly, it corrupts the rom a bit and you begin to have key freeze. Kernels like xdandroid avoids the bug with a proper control of mobile network.

Did you notice that what he had mentioned above? It is based on SenseDroid and FRX07. If a new build can be made by just changing the launcher and removing some apps, then congratulation my friend, you had MADE a NEW BUILD..

- You just simply remove my LPSense launcher and replace it with Go launcher
- It just a TIPS for the Market and Wifi-Tether, not a FIX
- Switcher for wifi, bluetooth, brightness, gps, etc.. are from my ARCDroid
- Task manager is just an additional app for Go launcher which can download from Market FREE.
I can't see any difference in your build with mine besides of those 'FIX' and the 'NEW' launcher.
It is useless to give people credits but never asking for permission when taking stuffs from people.

I completely agree about you are saying. As I've explained in the first post, this is a modification of your job and XDAndroid (they deserve merit also). And the reason why I released GoDroid is because you did a final version in which people have found some problems like wrong wifi-tether installation that provides wifi unstability.
Solve this problem it's so easy as you say, but the 80% of the people who install a rom in their mobile don't know how to resolve this kind of things, they need you to do it, but you don't take out the wifi-tether from your rom because you did a final version.
Tell me what I must do and I will do without any reserve. But please solve the wifi-tether problem in your rom.
As you can notice I've not asked for a coffee invitation because I don't deserve. But the people who follow your job maybe want something more.
P.D.= If people install a new launcher like GoLauncher straight from Market, your launcher and the other works at the same time so consume more resources and the rom works slowly. The switcher are from the go launcher new version not from ARCDroid, and the Market is a new version, too. The wifi-tether problem in your rom is because you included it in your build and it doesn't work (it's duplicated in your rom, in /data/app you have one version and in /system/app have another).

I can give a conclusion that you had done a great job by discovered the Wifi Tether solution, other than that no more effort I can see to be done by you.
User can easily remove system apps by installing 'Root App Remover' from the Market.
About the 'NEW' Market are you using version 3.3.11? , and I want to apologize to you for the switcher. That's all
okay i have tried this build and it seems ok
one thing is that I think it is absolutely imparitive that we use the camera button as a home and not power button as if the keyboard does freeze we can still use the phone
please fix this in your update I have tried changing the usr and it hasn't helped
thank you dev

Guys we are all in this community TOGETHER. Lets work together and respect other devs and yours as what they like. We have to remember and thank each dev for taking their time for the community and providing THEIR versions of what THEY like THEMSELVES. Each rom is unique to the individual and I think its great that you devs are releasing it to the public. Please lets keep it a community of friends and work together.
Yes I agree with you casualt.. every developer have their own style on making their ROM, and every ROM have their own good features and function.. and it is depends on the users on what features they prefer the most.

Well, my English is worse than yours, you can be sure of that.
The GoContacts application includes GoDialer and this app fix the problem. Try to do a phone call and choose GoDialer for doing it. Therefore, GoDialer takes control of incoming and outcoming calls.
For me this change solved the problems, I tried several times and it worked in my case.
Best.

Install HOWTO:
1. Flashing the ROM
1.1 Preparing for flashing
- go to recovery
- wipe /cache, dalvik-cache, battery stats
- flashing this over mik's v6.5.x/6.6.x ROM without wiping /data should work without any problems.
- for any other non-CM7.1 ROM, wiping /data (factory reset) IS required (see FAQ and do not ask retarded questions)
1.2 Flashing the ZIP
- CWM should work just fine
- TWRP - works just fine if you disable signature verification (bug reported quite a few days ago)
- AmonRA - totally untested, definitely disable signature verification, if it does not work, try one of the above.
Do not post lame questions about failed signature verification here!!!
Click to collapse
1.3 First boot and initial setup
- reboot from recovery
- WAIT! Really, just WAIT!!! Even if it takes 10 minutes, there is no bootloop. Also, as long as the bootanimation is moving, the phone is NOT frozen and is busy populating the dalvik cache etc. Absolutely no need to pull the battery in that case! Once again, WAIT!
- In case you are flashing on a clean phone (/data wiped), you will get the initial setup wizard. If you want to change your language, do it. Tap on the Android picture. Either complete the wizard or skip it. I suggest skipping it, you can add your Google account and set it up just fine after all the setup is finished by tapping on the Market icon.
IMPORTANT NOTE: In case you get some lame popup before the initial Android screen asking you to choose between something like "com.google.provisioning" and Setup Wizard, choose the topmost item, do NOT check the checkbox. (It is impossible to take a screenshot of that, so it is NOT shown below.) Follow the prompts. Again, suggest skipping the wizard as soon as possible.

2. Theming the ROM for dummies (picture guide):
2.1 - Lockscreen
After you have finished/skipped the setup wizard, your screen should look like on Picture 1. Go to Settings - CyanogenMod - LockScreen - Style Options. Select Lense as LockscreenStyle and check the Hide rotary arrows. Press Back a couple of times to get back to home screen.
2.2 Wallpaper and status bar transparency - part 1
Hold your finger on the home screen for a while. Select Wallpapers from menu. From the next menu, select Live wallpapers. From the next menu, select MultiPicture Live Wallpaper. On next screen, tap on Settings, go to Common Settings - Picture Source. From the popup menu, choose either Single Picture or Picture Folder. On the prompt, do not forget to check "Use by default for this actions" and tap on MIUI Gallery. Go to wallpapers folder, choose a wallpaper, duh! Press back several times until you get back to the Set wallpaper screen. Tap on Set wallpaper. You are back to your homescreen.
Looks better now, huh?
2.3 Choosing the theme
Tap the home icon - in the app drawer list until you find Theme Chooser (on the last screen), tap the icon. Tap on Apply button under the MIUI theme. Back to home screen, note the icons in status bar are now changed.
2.4 Status bar transparency - part 2
NOTE: Sorry, this part IS sadly required, I cannot include the patched SystemUI.apk in the ROM, because otherwise there is never any status bar, LOL. Also it causes quite a bit of trouble with the initial setup wizard. NFC. Do not ask me why.
Click to collapse
Finishing up!!! Press the power button, choose Reboot - Recovery - OK. Wow, the phone rebooted and you are now in recovery! Go to flash ZIP menu, browse to MIUIGEN71/themes/transparent folder and flash the statusbar_patch.zip!
Reboot.
2.5 Finished!!!
NOTE: If you ever get bored by the transparent MIUI theme, you can undo the patch by flashing MIUIGEN71/themes/nontransparent/statusbar_undo.zip from recovery and use any CM7 theme with this ROM. (A black MIUI theme with non-transparent status bar attached here.)

FAQ:
Q: Can I use this with the new baseband?
A: NO!!! Absolutely NOT!
Q: Not even with the mik's patch?! Will data work with that?
A: NO!!! Absolutely NOT!
Q: Are you planning to add support for new baseband?
A: NO!!! Absolutely NOT! It will be supported when/if mik's ROM supports it. I will NOT do anything about baseband.
Q: But... that sucks! I do not want to downgrade baseband?
A: Go use another ROM, such as the stock LG ****! Do not bother asking on this thread about baseband, you WILL get reported to a moderator.
Q: Can I flash this over mik's v6.5.x/6.6.x ROM without wiping /data?
A: Yes, it should work without any problems.
Q: Can I flash this over stock ROM, GingerLOL or whatnot else without wiping /data?
A: NO! Do not bother with complaining about crashes and broken things if you do.
Q: Why franco kernel v1.1-24082011? It is unstable for me, I have random crashed, freezes, reboots, battery drains and it even drinks all beer in my fridge overnight!?!
A: Because the kernel works perfectly fine for me. If you get the stuff above, wipe everything (/data, /cache, dalvik-cache, battery stats), tune down your crazy OC (no, this phone will NOT work @1GHz) and enjoy your fast clean stable ROM with great performance!
Q: I still have kernel problems even after a clean flash? What now?
A: Feel free to flash any other franco 2.6.35 kernel if it works better for you. You can report bugs in latest kernel version to franco on his thread. IMPORTANT: Do NOT bother with reporting issues if you are too lazy to provide useful information about your CPU freqs, governor settings, provide logcat etc. and the only thing you plan to do is moaning about crashes, drains etc.
Q: I am having black screen/split screen bug!!! T3h suxxxx!
A: Sucks to be you, I do not have any such problem. Otherwise, turn off the CRT animation (who needs such stuff). If you get a blackscreen, please stop locking/unlocking the screen like mad every one second. Wait a few seconds at least. Also, there is no need to pull the battery or damage the power button by pressing it zillion times, just touch the screen.
Q: I am having battery drain! The ROM and kernel are horrible!
A: No, the junk you have installed is horrible. Grab BetterBatteryStats, find the offending crap and uninstall it.
Q: Battery life still suxxx! Only will last 3 days!
A: Go get a Nokia 5110.
Q: How can I switch to those other bootanimations that are included?
A: Run terminal emulator, then do this:
Code:
$ su
# selectbootanim
Note: Be sure to allow the root prompt when asked. Just follow the instructions then in the menu.
Q: How can I test the bootanimation without rebooting?
A: Use adb:
Code:
> adb shell bootanimation
Press CTRL+C to terminate it.
Q: When I mount the phone to my PC, the wallpaper I set from SD card gets lost from my home screen/lock screen!
A: Nothing I could do about it. Normally, /sdcard can only be mounted once. When you use the phone as mass storage, it gets unmounted from the phone. Go complain to Google.
Q: But it sucks! I have my phone connected and mounted to PC for the whole day, using it as a thumbstick for playing my p0rn collection!
A: Buy a USB stick for like $10. This is a phone, not a storage for your PC. Or grab something like Root Toolbox from the market and try the dual-mount feature there instead.
Q: When I boot the phone, it takes some time before the background picture appears.
A: It takes a while to get the SD card partition mounted to phone. Go complain to Google.
Q: What are those sysro/sysrw scripts good for?
A: As the name suggests, to remount your system read-only/read-write.
Q: How to I use them?
A: Duh, use the terminal, luke!
Code:
$ su
# sysrw
... (do whatever you want now with files under /system)
# sysro
# exit
$
Q: What is nano?
A: A console-based text editor. If you do not know what it means, you do not use it. RTFM!
Q: How do I set the WiFi Tx power so that it does not needlessly drain battery?
A: Use /system/etc/setwifi.sh script. It sets the value to 20dBm.
Q: Can I change that value?
A: Yes, edit the script. (See nano above.)
Q: Could you include my cool 99zomgmakemyphoneflylikehellubercool tweak?
A: No, sorry. I only include reasonable stuff. This ROM and kernel have excellent performance without any tweaks. Flash those yourself and do not bother with reporting resulting issues here. Will NOT fix them.
hey bro you are pretty bad!

For those who wants more RAM, search Market for "Auto Killer Memory Optimizer" and "Advanced Task Killer" and install these two apps
Work In Progress :
- USB Storage will stop working in second boot after first time successful connected, means that USB storage will only work ONCE
- I had contacted Zargloub and discuss the problem with him. Zargloub told me that it's NOT kernel problem, however he can't see any critical errors in logcat so we can't locate the problem. I know we can change the system/bin/vold file and also etc/vold.fstab file to make the USB work,
so this will be a workaround and need some time to find a working bin file
6/3/12

Mod + Download Section:
Full Wipe Script
Introducing Full Wipe Script for Xperia X1 NAND, originally idea from Sensation forum and mod by jerrytan93 (ME!!)..
The script was packed in a zip file and using updater-script to perform data wiping. Simply go to recovery and choose 'install zip from sd card' and then flash the zip
What will the script do for you:
- Remove old system files from older ROM
- Remove old data files from older ROM
- Remove old system created folders located in SD card, but it will NEVER format your SD card..
Advantages of using this script:
- Save your time, no need to wipe each partition one by one
- FULLY CLEAN all the partitions so that you will get a CLEAN ROM installation (less bugs that caused by old files)
Important Notes:
- Since the script will format your data partition, means that you will lost ALL your user data like Apps, configured settings, account settings.. same meaning as 'Factory Reset'
- This script is encouraged for those user who was having some 'weird issue' that did not happened on other users (including me)
- If you want to keep your user data while cleaning all your phone's partition, you can choose to backup your ROM before applying the script, after that use 'Advance Restore' in Recovery to restore your data partition ONLY

Yeah the wifi problem is kernel side, and I assumed that you are using WEP type Wifi security.. change your router Wifi setting to WPA/WPA2 will solve the problem.. and zargloub suggestion is rebooting your router and MAYBE it will works..
and all the 'Minor bugs' I will solve them in next version.. waiting for Sunday to come and my friend's X1..
Let's try it
glad to see something new here
Have X1 just for testing purposes, not using it at all
HD2 is in use but dont want to sell X1 cause i love it and waiting something new which will bring him new life...
Hope here it comes

- Replace Go Launcher EX with ICS launcher as ICS Launcher was laggy and unstable
- Speed?? Maybe yes since I always zipalign all the apk files before I upload the rom
- Battery?? Kernel related.. but I will post out some general 'tips' for battery saving..

My team and myself are very happy to launch our 1st custom rom for Galaxy S III!
I do not yet have my own S3 but all the team is already operational behind me
A lot of tweaks will be added, thanks in advance for your participation, do not hesitate to suggest your ideas!
Brand New Video !
We have completely changed the concept of the Rom, now you flash firstly a pure stock with mods,
and after you choose in the Criskelo Team Kitchen what you want into your rom!
The installation will be easy for everyone, whether you come from a stock rom or other rom, you will start with a basic stock! we will see all this in detail
Install your rom firstly, install after "criskelo Team Kitchen" and choose:
Now choose your favourite theme:
No need to make wipes : they are included in Install script !
This rom will be installed by recovery mode, your device need Clock work mode recovery before installing.
Firstly, always make an android backup before flashing any rom :
Reboot into recovery, select option "backup and restore" and choose "backup", the backup will be in your sd card / clock work mode folder.
How to install this V6 and kitchen ?
You can flash it from a stock Samsung rom, from a custom rom, how to do ?
THIS ROM IS NO WIPE : YOU WILL NOT LOOSE YOUR DATA OR APPLICATIONS
If you come from another custom rom, it is better to make full wipe before installing this rom !
Just put the ROM on your INTERN sd card :
reboot recovery :
- Install zip from SD card
- choose zip from intern sd card
- rom is installing, when complete, just go back and choose : reboot system now
- Do the same for the kitchen, flash it by recovery after installing the rom.
***Important note, if you come from an AOKP or an AOSP you will have to make a full wipe (factory reset) to install it correctly.
CAUTION CAUTION !!!!
I want you to know that we have removed the fix that was provided recently by Mike1986 for those who had unlocked with Voodoo unlock apk (too much issues with this fix).
We therefore advise you not to flash this version if you are one of those people who used voodoo unlock.
No worries for those who have a locked phone with their usual operator, no worries either for those who have an unlocked phone, no worries for those who have also unlocked phone with a paid version or official.

NOTE :
For French speaking people, you will find this thread here: http://www.tmaddict.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=311697#p311697
You appreciate our work and want to offer us a cup of coffee for the Rom and to better keep us awake
As you know, you can customize the ROM at will, add themes, mods, batteries, kernels and so on.
You will find all options offered by our Kitchen detailed below, in order to easily make your selections or to test new mods.
In addition we will avoid a lot of questions that come up very often, as "for what is this mod?" "What is the most suitable kernel?", etc.
1 - What is a Kitchen ?
There are no silly questions! Yes what is a kitchen? Again we talk in our language, a Kitchen is a kind of "plus" added to a rom.
Numerous ROMs do not offer this option, which means that you do not have the opportunity to choose a different kernel, or a different modem, or different themes, if wished you need to separately flash dozens of zip.
Thus this is a huge advantage for a ROM to have its own kitchen, a bit like if you were going shopping, you can choose whatever you want to include in your rom.
Firstly You will load the ROM and the Kitchen on your sd card, (do not unzip the files).
Once you have installed your rom, (flash the appropriate zip file), restart your phone then in a second time flash the Kitchen.
It will allow you to customize the ROM to your own taste, by adding dozens of very different and varied options.
You can come back whenever you want, (flash the Kitchen again and again), try other options, try other mods, back up your previous choices, in short, a valuable tool.
2 - I just flashed my kitchen, how to determine my choices ?
Once the kitchen being flashed, a home screen will be displayed, press "Next" then press the "CriskeloROM SIII Kitchen" icon.
First choose which theme you prefer to adopt:
- el liberator Wall Blue Theme (see pictures in post 1)
- Syps Theme (see pictures in post 1)
- Or the Stock Theme (corresponding to an official ROM without any visual customization)
On next step you will choose the options and addons that are offered for each theme, however I advise you to try both in order to get an idea.
Now select the contacts and the dial pad:
- For el liberator Wall Blue Theme:
- For Syps Theme:
- black
- or semi-transparent
Now choose your battery mods!
Batteries mods available for el liberator Wall Blue Theme:
Batteries mods available for Syps Theme:
Now choose your toggles:
The "Toggles" are the shortcuts available in the scrolldown menu, wifi, bluetooth etc., you can choose those that suit you best:
For el liberator Wall Blue Theme:
For Syps Theme:
Now choose your mods!
SOUND
You want sound at phone startup and when using the camera? If you select "yes" it will be activated, if you select no, these sounds will be disabled.
VOLUME LOUD
This is a Mod that will significantly amplify your volume (boost your sound). Select yes or no, (Watch out for sensitive ears with headphones)
CRT ON OFF
CRT is the cathode-ray tube effect, (like for cut-off on old televisions) you will see a small line when your screen turns to sleep mode. Select yes or no.
SKIP TRACK
This mod allows you while listening music, (although the screen is off), to scroll through the songs with the + / - volume button. Select yes or no.
CAMERA MOD
This is a modified camera, for example:
Take photo by pressing AND holding POWER-KEY until you feel the vibration, then release button. Unfortunately the Power-menu apears but photo is saved.
BURST shot mode (continious 20 pics AND Best photo) by only pressing “Menu” button (capacitive button) once
Start Video-recording with Vol.UP (or virtual key) and Pause Video recording with Vol. Down AND RESUME video with vol. UP again. Finally STOP recording by pressing the virtual key.
Many thanks to hyperX-!
See all details in his thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1691145.
Add-on applications!
Select the applications you want to add to the ROM, as for exampe a different launcher like Nova or Apex, or add Flipboard, or Svoice etc. Select the desired applications.
But how to choose a Kernel!
A big thanks to Sad56, our Kernels specialist, for this detailed descriptive:
Summary and help to choose "YOUR" Kernel available via the ROM Kitchen:
We are talking about using the Android stock kernel. With Android many tools allow to modify certain parameters of the kernel and to use it for functions other than those for which it was created, (eg a kernel dedicated to battery life would become a kernel for best performance).
The kitchen offers 3 types of Kernels:
Stock:
The stock kernel offers an excellent stability and honorable performances. Battery life will not be better than satisfactory.
Tweakable ones
Siyah:
The modifiable kernel by excellence, everything is customizable: Sound, Display, Overclock, Undervolt, CPU, GPU etc. via Stweaks (integrated in the kernel)
If you want to configure your kernel as you please, take that one.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1709686
Neak:
Also very customizable but in a lesser extent, it will allow you to control CPU, GPU, (no overclock), to activate scripts etc., thanks to its dedicated application.
Optimized for a foolproof fluidity.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1741385
Neak configurator : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.neak.NEAK_Configurator
Control your cores one by one via
Multi-core Manager : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.near.multicore.manager
Undervolt ones
(Watch out, each phone responds differently to Undervolt. Freeze, Sod are in no way linked to the ROM)
Phenomenal medium
This is the intermediate version of the Phenomenal kernels. Targets are autonomy and performance.
Nothing more, nothing less, it is intended to be used as is.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1728758
GalaxSih
Optimized for stability and autonomy. Less aggressive than the Phenomenal, (therefore sucseptible to be better tolerated), however it incorporates more tweaks concerning governators, scripts etc.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1774154
Choose a modem?
We advise you to flash the modem that corresponds to the ROM, we are in LG8 base, so prefer the LG8 modem by default. It is always recommended to use the modem matching the rom!
However, you find that to get the network is not sufficiently satisfactory? In such a case, test your usual area modem or another one and you will see over time which one suits you best! You can try them all.
3 -Backup your choices
It's almost finished, a window will now ask you if you want to save your choice for next time, say yes, your choices will be saved on your SD card, and when you will return to the kitchen, (do not forget that you can return as many times as you like and test what you want), you will only need to change the new options you want to try.
Now press Install now, Next, Finish. Hey presto, the flash of all the options that you selected starts alone, the telephone restarts, your very own kitchen is operational.
When you want to change options, use recovery executer, (in Settings / rom mods), you will see how to use it on this post
select "flash file", select the kitchen and presto, you're there!
****Note, thank you to Sad56 for the kernels, thank you to DanBert for the English translation
****If you want to use el liberator theme, you will see the entire theme on this thread
****Another theme is available for Criskelo Rom, Deep Blue ,thanks to Virnik0, you will find it on this thread

FAQ by sunny2303 and toxicthunder
--------------------------
What is an MD5 check-sum?
MD5 sum helps you identify any probable data loss issue which might have happened during the download process
and as a result of which you might be at a risk of flashing a incomplete/inaccurate download.
To mitigate this risk, simply check MD5 sum
(This can be easily checked with the help of ES file explorer/ Root explorer apps) and compare it with MD5 given on download site.
These 2 minutes can save 2 hours of reflashing for you.
What are the safe kernels that I have to be on, in order to flash this ROM?
CM9 / CM10 based kernels
any NoteCore, SpeedMod v4 and above, Franco v4 and above series of kernels.
any GB kernel.
I am coming from ABC - XYZ rom.
Is it safe to flash this ROM over it?
Yes ONLY when your ABC-XYZ reads -
Official CM10 or AOKP builds
CM10 or AOKP variant builds
Any other AOSP based ROM
I want to brick my device and then blame HI for it.
What do I do?
The best way to brick your device and blame HI for it is to flash HI over these kernels -
any CF--Root ICS kernel
SpeedMod v3 and below, Franco v3 and below
old leaked kernels and re-packs such as LP1, LP5, LPY and LP6 etc
What is Full Wipe & what is Cache Wipe using CWM?
Full wipe = Wipe Data / Factory Reset
This wipes all your user data like user applications, account settings, logins etc along with the cache partitions.
However, data stored in your sd-card like pictures, movies etc remain intact.
Cache wipe = User Applications and data remains untouched.
Only the cache you have previously accumulated gets purged.
What are Gapps? Why do I need them?
Please buy a Nokia or a BlackBerry.
Best wishes,
Toxic
Which version of Gapps should I flash? And when?
You can also download from Goo.im or other JB threads that provide the same.
You may flash them after you have installed the ROM (assuming you have done so after a Full Wipe).
Yet, I would personally request that you first flash the ROM and re-boot to see if all's well. Flashing Gapps + Kernel + other MODs seems to be giving issues on THIS rom.
Which kernels can I use with HI?
Since the ROM has been updated with the latest r3p0 drivers, it is essential that you use ONLY the kernel that comes with the ROM.
Where is the Email App? And the Exchange App?
Anything that you can't find will be provided in a .zip file called [COLOR="Green]RemovedAPKs[/COLOR].
[IMG]http://img1.moneycontrol.com/images/mf/tick_mark.png[/IMG]Download the zip and place in your device.
[IMG]http://img1.moneycontrol.com/images/mf/tick_mark.png[/IMG]Using a suitable File Manager to extract the zip.

[SIZE="3"]I can't find S-Note or S-Memo in this ROM. [/SIZE]
Neither can I.
What is the default DPI in HI and how can I change it?
Default DPI in HI is 320. To modify this -
Open your File Browser that has root access.
Navigate to /system/build.prop and open it as a text file.
Scroll down to ro.sf.lcd_density and set it to any number of your choice. Recommended values are 240, 213, 160 etc.
Reboot.
In case there are errors or issues, no one is responsible but yourself. So unless you know what you are doing, please tread cautiously.
How do I choose themes on HI?
Download any compatible theme of your choice from the Play Store.
Go in System Settings --> Themes –-> Theme chooser.
Choose downloaded theme –-> Select Apply.
My Question is still unanswered. And I am a bit shy of asking on the threads, lest I should be stoned to death.
What do I do?
Read some motivational books that help you work on your self-confidence.
Come back to the thread and ask.
If it turns out that your question could be answered by simply using the search function,
or reading the first 4-5 posts - chances are you will still be stoned.
Motivational books are boring. I watched 300 instead.
Now I am all pumped-up to ask any question, no matter how pathetic.
Good. This gives us the opportunity to see how long you can withstand the stoning.
Your watching 300 should be of some help to you.

You guys just require everything to be flashable! Some clear instructions but no one want to follow them Its hard to read than to flash ?
Hope you guys know there are two root access granting apps - Superuser by chainsdd and SuperSu by chainfire.
By default the SuperSu is there in the rom. When u open it it will give you update binary pop up and when u click on continue it will say operation failed.
So just hit the play store and install the Superuser (for those who have hard time finding it on store here) After that open Superuser once and update if it asks to.
Now go ahead and open SuperSu and it will ask for root access now....grant it and done. Now all the root access will be given by Superuser and not SuperSu.
Hope this helps Try reading and following the steps...they are easier than flashing
P.S.- Will be fixed in the next version. Added to the to-do list and working on it and other fixes (basis Preview 3 by xplodwild)

sorry guys, unfortunately it was way past mid-night when I uploaded this - hence couldn't complete the OP.
Working on next build, as well as the OP.
One more thing, before trying out solutions to any bugs or issues, please consult with people who have the necessary know-how regarding the topic - Asylum inmates need not be told. This is just for the newer users.
If you try to be a smartass and pass on stupid advice (like Abyss is safer than CM9) I will report you immediately.
Cheers!

In my case hotspot opens up fine but m unable to connect anything to it.
No one reported the issue hence thought of asking
BOOMED from my BOMBASTIC NOTE
I never use hotspot but I just tried and I faced the same issue as you.

TheROM - take it or leave it
Okay guys, as promised I am sharing the ROM I made for myself to suit my personal needs.
I prefer stability and smoothness over features - so it focuses on some core features I love but isn't overloaded with each and every possible option out there.
All features are carefully and cleanly picked into the ROM without the use of nasty hacks wherever possible.
Please read the FAQ at the end of the first post before using this ROM!
If you appreciate my work on the LG Optimus 2x you can support me by donating!
I am doing this for free in my leisure time because I like working on Android stuff and helping others out.
You're not required to donate, but I highly appreciate a couple free beers or pizzas as a gratidue for my work.
To quote one of the most famous xda developers:
Chainfire said:
Don't be a leech, buy me a beer (and use the "Thanks" button!). Imagine if every CF-Root user has donated me $1...

I am nowhere near his usercount, but just imagine if every happy (and only those) user of one of my ROMs has donated 5€+.
Important:
Let me explain the "take it or leave it" phrase from the title:
You got two options, either you like the ROM and use it as it is without any complaints, or you don't and use another one.
I made this ROM for myself and am sharing it to you as there's a broad interest.
But I am not interested at all in feature requests, ETA questions, silly bug reports(!), etc. etc.
If I derped something (e.g. a FC within the settings app) you can of course post about it.
But you have to a) do a full wipe and confirm the bug is still there, b) describe your bug in detail, c) post a logcat.
It is the ROM I personally use (or for the CM10.1 version: used), so you can talk about the ROM, but you don't get to ask about any changes.
If we're clear on the rules let's go to the fun part.
This thread is in the general section for a reason. As we're not going to discuss which features this ROM absolutely needs we got a whole thread to our liking.
Which means: It's meme time!

FAQ:
Read the FAQ carefully before asking any questions!
Okay, I know you said no feature requests, but I really need [feature xyz]!
Why should I try this ROM?
I want to try this ROM, can I just flash it and be good to go?
I have a question..
New: I have a question regarding bluetooth...
Listen, I'd like to know if you could ...
I will donate to you if you include my beloved feature:
This is a joke right?
Really, I just want to know when you're going to release the next update?
I don't like the way you're doing this thread!
TheROM
Okay, this ROM comes in two versions. CM10.1 and CM10.2 based.
The former is based on my work on CM10.1.
The latter is based on my work-in-progress CM10.2.
If you're new to the LG 2x then you should check both linked threads and read about the differences, bugs and features of these ROMs.
I just don't see a reason to have two threads for this ROM, thus I'm merging them together in here.
The CM10.1 ROM is deprecated, it's been the ROM I've been using until I made the switch to CM10.2.
I just share it here for those of you who might prefer it. So don't expect any further updates.
FEATURES / INFORMATION:
Only features I made or ported are listed here, nothing that's already in CM.
TheROM CM10.2:
Hybrid Engine (per app dpi / layout)
Halo 2.0
Additional hardwarebutton customizations
(like Screen off, open Torch, Power menu etc.)
Notification Brightness slider
Center Clock option
Text-only battery style
PreferenceDrawer in the Settings
Custom Carrier text
Advanced low battery options
My memory management option
Fixed performance menu for Tegra2
Option for all home screen widgets on the lockscren
notification drawer background & transparency
standard softkey vibration lowered
ships with the awesome kowalski kernel by pengus77
comes with my non-neon compatible mini gapps package
Option to use the external storage as default one
comes with bluedroid which means speedup bug and no BT phone calls possible
If I find some time I might try to include bluez, but right now I don't and bluedroid will stay in until further notice.
App Ops option in the settings (with PAs changes)
based on the newest CM10.2 sources
and loads of small stuff here and there I forgot to list
Differences in the depracted CM10.1-based version:
comes with an older Halo version (1.0)
ships a couple more hardwarebutton customizations (esp. custom app)
comes with bluez and is compiled with GCC 4.7 which means a) no speedup bug but therefore b) no BT phone calls
based on CM10.1.2 stable + custom picks of the nightlies
Download:
Get the ROMs here:
http://tonyp.basketbuild.com/index.php?dir=main/TheROM/
All ROMs are for the newbl - if you're using the oldbl use the converter (or wait for someone to upload the converted build).
Kowalski Kernel M1 rh and my non-neon compatible mini gapps are included.
Installation instructions:
CM10.2 (coming from another ROM than my CM10.2):
Do a full wipe. Do another reboot after the first boot. Don't *****.
CM10.1 (coming from another ROM than my CM10.1):
Do a full wipe!
Updating to a newer TheROM build:
Flash the ROM. Reboot. No wipes needed.
Do not update from any CM10.1 ROM to CM10.2 (full wipe it is!)
Known Bugs:
Do not ask about features on the known bugs list. They're known, there's no need for a reminder.
all CM bugs (no HDMI rotation etc.) are present - check the CM10.1 / CM10.2 threads for more details
This especially means that on CM10.2 bluetooth calls are not working!!
If this is a dealbreaker for you: move to a ICS / CM10 or my CM10.1 t-build ROM!
See this post for more details regarding the bluetooth situation.
Hybrid Engine: Sometimes changing the system dpi will produce a small layout error (an empty line below the statusbar).
Just do a reboot and it's gone

This Known Issues List
should prevent one-liner finding reports related to already known issues
should keep later disappointment from end-users of tonyp's theROM and clean CM 10.2
defines an everlasting unique identifier for each known issue. Use the identifier for simplified unambiguous communication. Please write e.g. "issue #2" if you want to refer to the silent blue-tooth call bug
should show possible workarounds, or, even better, should motivate discussions to fix the issue.
should neither let you imply that the issue will be fixed soon, nor that it is fixable at all! It is technically really hard to analyze, find and fix the root cause. Please never ask for an ETA! The community is aware of, and is of cause already unhappy (see e.g. this post) about these known issues.
will not cover issues that exist in only 1 or 2 intermediate builds of theROM and that are already fixed in the latest build. Please also consult change log by @[email protected]
Known Issues List as of 2013/12/28 (theROM build 22-26 resp. clean CM10.2 incl. 2013-12-13):
HDMI doesn't work
Workaround: use stock LG GB ROM (I don't know whether stock LG ICS works)
Calls from BT headset connect but are silent for caller and callee
Workaround: use e.g. CM10.1 T-builds or ParanoidAndroid (PA) ROM
Root cause: not yet found; speculation: volume gain factor is set to 0 somewhere
Discussion: see e.g. post3, post2 , post1 issue b)
Mobile data counting doesn't work (blue arrows on mobile data indicator don't appear; e.g. Avast shows error message)
Workaround: use e.g. CM10.1 T-builds or ParanoidAndroid (PA) ROM
Root cause: bug in Android 4.3 (inherited to CM10.2)!?
Discussion: see e.g. note 3 in post3, post2, post1, report to Google
Stock camera
takes heavily over-exposed pics with flash
Workaround: tap the screen first before you click the camera fire button; this will correct exposure parameters
crashes often, or produces crashes of Trebuchet and gallery
Workaround 1: use e.g. cam app ported for CM10.1 by feav; it provides also features like panorama pix missing in the stock cam
Workaround 2 (not fully proven): flash the gallery.apk from build 23; some say the stock cam works without crashes then
BT media playback speeds up after minutes to hours.
Fix: at least fixed in build 22 (I dont't remember the exact build)
Some apps (e.g. Candy Crush) crash with the KK in the RAM hack version
Workaround: flash the no RAM hack (norh) version of Kowalski kernel (KK) by Pengus77
Slow GPS fix. Cause: missing file \data\gps\lto.dat that is up to date too.
Fix: seems to be fixed in build 23; some issues with the fix have been reported; under investigation

Long lags after heavy filling and emptying the flash memory. Reboot does not help
Workaround: backup data partition, wipe it, and restore the backup
Root cause: kernel does not implement TRIM functionality that makes use of the SD/MMC ERASE (CMD38) command.
References: wikipedia TRIM, wikipedia TRIM#SD/MMC
Discussion: post4, post3, post2, post1
Mobile data mode keeps being disabled when switching airplane mode off
Workaround: either disable and re-enable data or toggle 2g/3g twice. In some rare cases these workarounds won't work and a reboot is needed
Root cause: yet unknown
Current time shown is that for GMT time zone instead of for your local timezone. Time shift is always in full hours.
Workaround 1: Reboot; normally this restores correct time display.
Workaround 2: Disable automatic time sync and install a time sync app
Workaround 3: If you'd like to keep using automatic time you should add "telephony.test.ignore.nitz=true" to your build.prop
Root cause: yet unknown

Some apps always crash under theROM and they also don't work on stock ICS on P990. Some of such seem to be Viber, Instagram, etc.
Request: please report as soon as the app started working correction on a new theROM build.
Recommendation 1: Search in this thread if your app is known to be incompatible with theROM
Recommendation 2: Search the internet if your app is known to be incompatible with stock ICS on P990
Recommendation 3: Try your app on P990 under stock ICS
Rule: never post problems with your app in this thread if its incompatibility to theROM or ICS on P990 is already known!
Recommendation 4: Ask the author of your app for help
Workaround: Use your app on P990 under stock ICS, or on another phone. (sorry for bad news!)
Root cause: potentially missing NEON support by P990; many others possible
no FM radio
note: theROM builds from version 27 ship Kowalski Kernel 3.1 (instead of KK 2.6 M1). As this might solve old known issues and might bring new ones I decided to archive and hide the above list for builds up to version 26. The below list for build version from 27 starts as a 1:1 copy of the above. As I am not on build 27 yet, I am not able to bring in my own experience. Additionally I don't have the time to read and evaluate all posts regarding build 27+. Please notify me for necessary corrections and additions of the below list.

Consider not flashing theROM in case you can't live with one or more of the listed open issues.
Please report any ideas, how to further analyze or fix the issue. Or please provide better workarounds.
The above list is to my best knowledge. I can neither guarantee it is correct nor it is complete. Please help to improve it.
Every bug is an issue. But there might be issues not caused by bugs (= errors in source code).

Thanks and enjoy guys
Changelog TheROM - take it or leave it
Changelog build 27:
Ships with the awesome kk 3.1 bcmdhd alpha 15 by @pengus77.
Big thanks to @hjunii - without him this wouldn't be possible.
added option & quicksettings tile to enable/disable Halo
reverted my netd tethering hacks, they were bcm4329 specific.
I do not know if tethering works with bcmdhd, yet - feedback required
re-enabled wifi optimizations by default (they were incompatible with bcm4329, so i had disabled them)
in case you notice any problems (which you shouldn't) go to settings - wifi - advanced and untick it.
Changelog build 26:
merged CM10.2.0 stable codebase
merged all TheROM translations pull requests
Changelog build25:
fixed Stock Camera
cyanogen has merged in some Features which our camera blobs don't support anyways, so I've rolled them back
merged upstream
I believe this should fix the ThemeChooser some people posted here, at least I've seen a commit regarding that on Gerrit.
Please provide feedback.
Changelog build 24:
fixed the brightnessslider to only show when enabled
merged CM10.2 RC1
ships with a customized KowalskiManager by @wfd which automatically enabled auto hotplug as well
Changelog build 23:
added auto downloading the lto.dat file (for gps assistion data). Hopefully this brings up GPS back to the CM10.1 standards (at least after the first fix aka TTFF).
It's enabled by default, but will only update the file via WiFi by default (check the new option at Settings - Location access)
Properly enabled GPU accelleration.
I've found out that our device didn't fully utilize hardware accelleration. The reason is our low RAM - and enabling hwa takes about 8mb.
But with a GPU as powerful as ours I think those 8mb are well spent, we'll see how it turns out, make sure to post feedback.
In a first quick test the UI does seem more responsive.
Note that this is NOT equal to the "Force GPU rendering" option in the developer section! This one should stay off, as apps that for various reasons do not use GPU rendering shouldn't get forced into it.
enabled 2nd core auto hotplug by default. This will hopefully get rid of the plug-in BSODs of people not reading the threads (and thus not enabling the option at the KowalskiManager).
updated Torch overlay (this does hopefully fix the missing torch widgets some people had - please post feedback)
updated the OpenGL version. I have no idea how and if we'll notice that.
Thanks @DJNoXD for sending me a pull request.
removed the CMUpdater which slipped in under my nose.
I've slapped in a new more generic bootanimation, courtecy of +Dima Skvarskyi
Changelog build 22:
-Os buildflag optimizations
(smaller modules loaded into the RAM means more free RAM available to the phone)
synced to CM10.2-M1
Changelog build 21:
merged upstream
(3 weeks of CM10.2 patches and updates - didn't particularly check them, if you notice something new post it here)
included Google Maps (v7.3.0) by default
(as Google removed Tegra2 compatibilty for v7.0+)
reverted the Camera Wrapper for now, I am not convinced about it's usefulness and want to try it without for some time again.
Changelog build 20:
It's mostly identical to build 19, I just merged upstream and included the new translations (see below).
A couple days ago I read a tip somewhere to use -Os instead of -O2 when compiling arm modules.
So I just made another exp build to try this - you can find it labeled as "exp opt" (experimental optimization) in the download directory.
In theory the exp build should have a slightly worse performance (if noticable at all) but more free RAM which could help our low RAM phone (if noticeable at all).
Oh and I've included the translations I got sent (Spanish, French, Russian, Portuguese BR & PT):
https://github.com/tonyp/TheROM-translations/commits/master
Changelog build 19:
It's basically an upstream merge - but CM fixed the Camera image being "stuck" after taking a photo, which is the last bug that I wanted to see fixed before calling it the next stable.
Changelog build 18:
Quickmemo support
As @Firtecy already posted he fixed the Quickmemo apk to work with CM10.2.
Thus I re-added the Quickmemo support into the framework.
I've recoded it with a better, adaptive implementation. Now you'll only have the Quickmemo entry in the Buttons settings when Quickmemo is actually installed - if not it will be completely hidden.

To open it you got two options: press vol- and vol+ simultaneously or assign the button at Settings - Buttons.
added a new bootanimation.
Thanks to @vviper for creating it!
replaced statusbar icons with the one from PA (which are a little lighter)
removed the Statusbar Transparency "always" option
Settings - buttons FC fix + another minor memory leak fix + merged upstream
Changelog build 17:
Network Location Toggle
Custom System Animations
Fixed a bunch of FCs & brought back Storage Settings content
merged upstream (Camera Launcher QS Tile etc.)
Changelog build 16:
removed ActiveDisplay again
disabled listview animation by default
You can turn it on at Settings - TheROM. I think they're quite fun to play around with!
merged upstream fixes
Changelog build 15:
Statusbar Transparency
Active Display re-added (I've disabled the proximity sensor properly now - it only gets used in the pocket mode now)
Still this does drain some battery when you get lots of Notifications. I'll look into creating a widget to toggle it on and off.
ListView animations
To show off and for the lulz it's enabled by default - you can disable (or change) it at TheROM settings.
I've added a a quick option to the Notification Drawer style options to restart the SystemUI.
I've been annoyed by the fact that I either had to reboot or use an external app.
changed default dpi to 213
(you can change back to the stock 240 at TheROM settings - hybrid)
merged upstream
(but removed the CMAccount, me no likey)
Changelog build 14:
Implemented the RIL_UNSOL_LGE_RESTART_RILD response.
This has been reported as missing by @gios_ some time ago here.
I'm not sure if the implementation is correct, I've adaptoed it from the P880.
We'll have to test and see if it changes anything for those who still have data drops every now and then (for me they seem fixed since kk 126).
(Note: This isn't related to the no signal after airplane mode bug, which you usually can solve easily by double tapping data in the QuickSettings (= disable and enable it)).
Replaced PerformanceControl with the KernelControl app by @Beene.
If you encounter any bugs make sure to report them to him and post your feedback about the app in his thread.
Merged upstream.
One of the changes is the integration of CMs PrivacyGuard into App Ops - called Privacy Guard 2.0.
You'll find it at Settings - Security - Privacy Guard.
Unfortunately the longpress on an item (where you could fine tune your settings in theory) isn't working yet (FCs), will get fixed soon.
Update: here is an updated Settings.apk which will solve the FC for those who need access to App Ops.
Needs to be pushed to /system/app. Then longpress the app in the Privacy Guard options.
Changelog build 13:
removed Active Display for now
(fixes the battery drain)
Changelog build 12:
cleaned some commits, especially Active Display
It works as expected for me - hopefully now for everyone else as well.
Additionally it's a "make clean" build, I assume the android version update broke something here in the last one.
fixed some logspamming
I've discovered a minor bug in the Processor settings in the Performance menu.
Thus I disabled it - to compensate it I included an updated PerformanceControl app again, which gots some decent additions compared to the old version
I removed ViPER FX again as I discovered you can just get it from the PlayStore
Don't worry, it'll be in English once you install it
restructured the TheROM Settings. I've got a PM from someone who wanted to translate it to other languages, this makes it easier.
You can download the strings here
After translating the file move it into the correct subfolder for your language and post it here, then I'll include it.
Changelog build 11:
I got great news. I don't know if someone remembers, but ages ago in my PA ROM I had experimented with hacking the framework and changed some ADJ values to protect the launcher from redrawing.
One shouldn't just change the values (that's what the SuperCharger does), as that would break androids default memory management, thus I re-arrenged the code in the ActivityManagerService to reflect those changes back then.
I just had a look at my old code and figured out a way better and way cleaner method to hook into that.
I've just compiled my testbuild and it seems to work. It's not yet ready, just a test if my theoretical concept works.
I want to introduce an option for that, where you can control the intensity. By the end of next week I will have a bit more time, then I'll expose an option in the settings.
My current idea is to call it "Prevent launcher redraws" with the levels "disabled", "moderate", "needtothinkofsomething" and "extreme".
Currently extreme is hardcoded.
I've uploaded the build to my TheROM folder if anyone wants to try it out. Please give feedback if you notice an improvement.
With extreme it'll be quite hard to get it killed, as only perceptible apps (like playing music) will be more important.
I've switched around between Google+, Boat Browser and the Reader+ app and I didn't manage to kill the launcher
Edit: good, opening webpages with loads of images in the browser does kill the launcher. We don't want to have it unkillable (keep in memory), when the system needs the ram it should be possible to get it.
It's a lot cleaner than the hacky way the Supercharger does to accomplish the same goal.
The supercharger hacks into the framework and changes the ADJ values directly - unfortunately these are directly accessed in the ActivityManagerService.java which causes some unwanted sideeffects with the default android memory management.
I'm just modifing the ADJ value at runtime.
Additionally what I really don't like with the Supercharger: It's prioritizing the Launcher above perceptible and even visible apps.
Killing the music player while listening to music or killing visible elements instead of the launcher when the system needs memory? That's insane imo.
To prevent confusion: visible apps are not identical to the foreground app - but could be some elements visible behind an overlay. Would still look bad if those suddenly dissappear.
Edit: I've decided to just brand it as build 11.
Additional changelog: Android 4.3 JLS36G merged
Changelog build 10:
- added Active Display options from ChameleonOS
- added notification drawer background options and transparency (requires a reboot to apply)
- QuickSettings: option to open the apps in floating mode ("in Halo") on longpress
- RAM usage circle on recent apps
- cherrypicked some memory leak fixes from various sources
- fixed some FCs
- fixed (?) the Trebuchet FCs (at least I can activate the searchbar again)
- merged upstream
Changelog build 09:
Based on the idea of alok.tari clicking the clock in the statusbar dropdown will open Timely if it's installed.
(Longpressing it will always open the clock app you set as default).
Then I reverted the dalvik low memory initializing, I suspect that to be related to some of the slowdowns. The system will use ~6mb more RAM again, but it might be worth it, we'll see.
Additionally I merged upstream of course - I've seen some fixes for headset plug-in (which fixes a bug if you don't have a music player app installed) and Trebuchet, I guess these will fix the issues reported here.
I will say it again: CM10.2 is in nightly status - which means there will be bugs every now and then in the sources.
Let's hope CM will try to build stable releases soon again, as soon as those are out the amount of new bugs will decrease.
I won't have the time to look into individual issues up until the end of this month.
I just quickly made this build for myself (and am sharing it here with you).
Changelog build 08:
- new options for Halo (ninja mode, ping etc.)
- ViPER FX replaces DSPManager
- back to the ramhack kernel (M1) - I just missed the additional RAM it gives which results in more Launcher redraws etc.
- Cyanogenmod account (check CMs G+ page for details)
- Trebuchet: Support for custom icons per shortcut
- merged upstream
Changelog build 07:
- notification sound bug fix while playing media
- enabled backlight button brightness options at Settings -> Buttons
- reverted gps.tegra.so to the one official CM10 and CM10.1 use (this fixes all GPS problems for me)
- included Kowalski M1 norh kernel
- merged upstream (loads of bugfixes from CM)
Last but not least I tried something highly experimental - I decreased(!) the playback buffer as I want to know if this has an impact on A2DP playback.
Unfortunately I don't have my BT headset at hand, so you guys need to test it.
> Is BT audio (listening to mp3s) still working?
> Does the audio still speed-up?
Additionally I added some missing bluetooth configurations which might or might not increase it's stability.
Changelog build 06:
Gosh I just hate bugs, so I just had to push out a quick fixup build
I fixed the SystemUI FCs (this has been a bit nasty!), the Bluetooth share FC after booting and @Firtecy fixed his disappearing brightnessslider after rebooting.
(you can push the Bluetooth.apk to the clean CM10.2 ROM to fix the bluetooth share FC there as well).
Changelog build 05:
I've added the Notification BrightnessSlider, ported by @Firtecy (thx!).
Additionally some other small fixes I stumbled across + I removed the QuickMemo option again for now - it only works for CM10 and CM10.1 until someone ports it.
Changelog build 04:
I've added the following hardwarekeys button actions to the ROM:
- Screen off
- Open Power menu
- Toggle Last app
- Toggle Torch
- Take Screenshot
- Quickmemo (this is optional, you need to use my Quickmemo installer)
The CM10.1 ROM had some more options (like custom app, re-assign the back key), but that would have required more work and time than I can currently spend).
The important ones are in now (I consider Torch and Powermenu/Screen off extremely useful).
Oh and in CM10.2 you got the sweet "double tap home action".
Google keyboard updated to v1.1
Trebuchet loosing icons should be fixed
Changelog build 03:
Hybrid Engine \o/
Focal removed - it's buggy and takes 12mb of space
Extract it from my CM10.2 ROM if you need it
Donation menu moved to the buttom to get it out of the way
Some new stuff for Trebuchet , including the option to use icon packs
Oh and the apk now takes about 6 instead of the former 12mb
Some small fixes here and there
Changelog build 02:
I have pushed a small bugfixing update online: cm-10.2-TheROM-20130826.2-tonyp.zip
I just did some quick workarounds which certainly isn't perfect, but fixes the FCs for now:
1.) I removed the SetupWizard.apk. The PreferenceDrawer Settings app is causing problems with it. I will fix it properly when I find the time, but the Wizard isn't really needed anyways.
You will just have to manually go to Settings - Accounts and add your Google account now after a full wipe.
2.) I have removed the two SDCards from the storage menu (it now only contains the option to use the external SD as default one).
I tried some quick fixes but they didn't work and I really gtg, so this will do for now. Again I will properly fix it when I get more time.
If you absolutely need access to the menu for something (although I don't know what this could be) you should be able to use the Settings.apk from my CM10.2 build for that.
I've hidden old changelogs to shorten the post. You have link to every original post/changelog from tonyp...

I converted CM10.1 version for oldbl, flashed it and it works perfect. I'm currently uploading it, it will take about half an hour, if anyone wants to download it. Many thanks tony, I will donate as soon as I get my paycheck.
