[Q] Phone and PC wifi lan connection files transfer! - Huawei Ideos X6

Because my usb hub on my phone doesnt work so could any one tell me how can I transfer files between PC and phone via wifi lan connection? I also have an sd card reader but I dont like take off the cover of the phone every time I need to copy files to sd card. Thanks!

I love to do file exchange via wifi. I mostly use File Expert which is file explorer but has many features including root explorer, FTP and WEB share and much more. I choose mostly enabling FTP share, our phone become an FTP Server and we can browse via windows browser or any ftp browser and do file exchange.
Or you can use Android Sync Manager, to synchronize anything else beside of file exchange.

Off-topic post.
Since you have wifi and now your device is rooted, test this app for adb over wireless.

P.S. Sorry for posting apps related link in general section, but did not want to start new thread as this app is most useful for you rather than any one else here. (I guess)

Transfer Files using Wifi + Android Name

Hi, i`ve been looking for a way to transfer files to the phone without using the USB cable.
I found: OnAir which does not work and SwiFTP which works but...
- i`m using Conectify to share my laptops internet connection. This in turn offers IP`s with DHCP.
Is there a way to name your phone to something fixed so that i can use it's name to connect?
If you have any other tips on how to do this, please feel free to let me know

on air does work fine on both 5.0.7 and froyo for me.
I suppose you're talking about Windows network. Is the phone rooted or not?
Non-rooted have no such option, but can use FTP. If you want to address it by a name - install DynDNS on the phone.
Rooted can change hostname to whatever you like (look up my thread about it in Development section - but it doesn't show on Windows network, since it's not NetBIOS name, it needs DNS server to be addressed) and/or install Samba+Netbios (look up Samba thread in Android General section, this one shows your phone as a computer on the Windows network with an SDCARD share, but it's a bit quirky - slows down when phone goes into sleep). Both things require interaction with O/S on a level of browsing system dirs, executing system commands and changing system text files. If you're not comfortable with it - I don't suggest trying.
I would just use ES File Explorer and pull the files from your Windows shares that you want rather than trying to go through all of the trouble to push a file to your phone.
Estrongs File Explorer does work very well browsing windows/smb shares over wifi. Astro can do this as well as an option for sftp for connecting to your linux box. As for a static IP you can do this manually from the wifi options in the phone. Or a nice app was made called WiFi Static, and is available free from the market.
A bit of a different choice, but Dropbox is free and can share files between any number of devices, in the cloud.

[Q] Htc hd 7 bluetooth

Hi! When i want to send file from other phone to my htc hd7, i see message "not supported". How do i repair this?
The easy answer is to take a seat and pray that M$ come up with the goods. In other words you cant send anything over BT at this moment in time.
With WP7, the only way to transfer files is via Zune, SkyDrive or email em to your device. That's the reason why they disabled access to the storage card. I can't believe I'm saying this, but, I'm used to it now.
Sent from my HD7 using XDA Windows Phone 7 App
there's a way to view the storage in windows explorer. can be used to add files quickly
Hi tmak22,
"there's a way to view the storage in windows explorer. can be used to add files quickly"
Can you give me a hint? Can't see anything ... (Connected via USB to Win XP)

definetley not recommended. Easy way to screw up your sd card. WP7 does not have a file system as such, therefore transferring files can only be done via Zune and now in mango trough SkyDrive or email always. Read this answer from Microsoft: "WP 7 doesn't support any profiles that would allow you to transfer files via BT, so there is no point in trying to connect to a laptop. Your option is e-mailing a file to yourself.
In Mango you will have the option of saving the file to Skydrive via WiFi or Cell Data. Stil not directly to a laptop however.
Notice there is no file system, so no explorer that you could get to the file and say 'send via BT', no option within an open document menu that says 'send via BT'. There is no BT transfer directory, and if you could attach via BT the file explorer on your PC would not be able to navigate to a file to download, because, again, there is no visible file directory structure."

Can Galaxy Tab and S connect to each other?

Is it possible to connect the Tab and Phone together independently without using the cable, to browse and sync files between the two ?
I know in Kies, you can connect up to four individual devices.. with sync of course.
I havn't tried it though..
Thanks mate, yeah was just wondering if it were possible to do over wireless.
Thus doing away with the need for cables. Thought there may be an app or something that would allow it to be done.
ES File Explorer may do it. Under the Lan tab it searches for devices on a wireless network.
Download File Expert. It has web and ftp capabilities and I have been able to start up the service on one device and browse the other and copy files. You can also browse and transfer files from PC's and Macs. And it is free.
Tried File Expert but can not get it to Network my laptop let alone my Galaxy S.
Is there a hidden trick I have missed?
File expert worked great, and was just what i was looking for.
Shared the folders on my PC.
Punched in the ip adress on the tab, along with username and password to log on to the PC and voila. Connected.
Thanks for the info, and thanks to those who replied
Well, I got File Expert to send my files across to my Laptop in the end... but I have to say ES File Explorer is much more simpler and offers better.
Thanks but I'll stick with ES File Explorer.

Share SD over network

I'd like to "share" the SD card in my S4 Active on my Windows network.
I know there are many utilities that will let me access a shared folder on my Windows network *from* my phone (currently using ES File Explorer to do this), but I want to do the opposite - access the SD card in my phone from my Windows PC over my network.
Are there any apps that will allow my to setup my SD as a network share? Thanks for any tips!

You can try "Remote Manager" from "Tools" of ES File Explorer. Then set it up (arrow on bottom right) to share your extSdcard via FTP.

Thanks almec, but I need to access it as a "real" share, not via FTP. I had been using the Samba Filesharing app, but it doesn't work with Android 4.2+ and looks like it never will... (There is a patch for it, but reviews say it is very buggy)
This and the lack of Mass Storage Mode (why did they remove that anyway) is about to become a deal-breaker between me and this phone. *sigh*

Sorry then. I didn't need true SMB/CIFS implementation. FTP as network location via "Map network drive" Windows function or as a drive via NetDrive is enough for my purposes (see pic). But I hate the lack of mass storage mode too.
