[Q] WidgetLocker and Phone Locking - Captivate Themes and Apps

Hey guys,
I'm on CM7 and have WidgetLocker. I'm wondering if I am able to still use a sort of phone/screen lock (Pin, PW, Pattern) without having the default Android lock screen first.
What I mean is straight from WidgetLocker --> Enter Password --> Homescreen.
I played around with the settings and the closest I came was I ended up having to go through 2 lockscreens (both the WidgetLocker and the default one) and the code, which is a bit redundant.
Side question: How do I change the statusbar icons? (Signal, Wi-Fi, Battery icons) Do they come along with released themes? Or can I mod them manually?
Thanks, appreciate it.

I believe that you can do this by using the pattern lock screen but the others won't work basically after you unlock it should pull up the pattern lock screen.
Oh and the easiest way to get themes is to search the forums here and the market for CM7 Themes and then just download and use the Theme Chooser App.

CM7.1 includes a setting to disable the system slider before security.
CM Settings > Lockscreen > Disable lockscreen on security
CM7 doesn't, but you can use WL's Root Helper's Autoswipe instead.

Thanks for the help guys, I got it to work using the Root Helper.
One last question: Is there a way to have these WidgetLockers as the screen to answer calls instead of the default Android one? Thanks!

Thanks for your help!

Install different lockscreens?

Hey Guys,
Looking for some new lockscreens. Would really like the froyo 2.2 lockscreen from the droid x or D2. I like the looks of those slider bars.
Does anyone know if this is available or ones like it?
I dont know if its possible to replace the actual system lockscreens ... I know that WidgetLocker has those Motorola Froyo Lockscreen Setups, but well, its a external solution, the internal Lockscreen will not be replaced at all ...
one is called Lockbot

Awesome this is exactly what I was looking for. It works great, thanks for the tip, loving my new lockscreen now.
batmania15: since the latest lockscreen gestures update (in CM 0.04-10.11.29) I'm not using the unlock bars at all. You should check it out...

I tried the lockscreen gestures but didnt like them. I had one set for S and one set for B and everytime I drew the B it launched the one for S.
The default sensitivity was set too low, you could simply fix it for you by setting it to 3 or higher.
In 0.04-10.11.29, the default is now 3.

i think widget locker is a perfect choice
i m using it since i got the phone
While Widget Locker is a nice feature to have I think the Milestone just can't handle it. 256mb and if you throw a few widgets on it or a few widgets in your Launcher Pro/ADw, your home screen will redraw 24/7. I noticed like a 2x redraw rate with WidgetLocker. It's nice, but our phones can't handle it.
Need 512mb ram damnit.
sorry to hi-jack, but aren't you the Batmania15 from the MOTO Milestone support forums?
Any word on official FroYo?
i have another sort of question about lockscreen.
is there a way to have a picture on lockscreen different to the background picture?
You can set an alternative wallpaper i widget locker for the lock screen

Nadlabak,
The gesture lockscreen is great! Thanks for this.
Is it possible to use your gestures lock instead of standard Android visible pattern functionality? I mean to secure lock screen via gesture only. I ask because if you turn it on, then you can use gesture OR standard swipe unlock (so it's not securing the phone).
Thanks in advance for any sugestions!
Yes, you can turn off standard unlock slider option in the cyanogen settings.

[Q] 2.2 Lock pattern widget question

I have been searching for widgets to lock/unlock the pattern lock like in 2.1. I have tried a lot of the widgets in the market and none of them work for 2.2. Does anyone have any suggestions to use? Right now I have to keep going settings/security and redraw the pattern just to unlock it.

Are you talking about the 9 button trace pattern thing? I don't use it, but if that's what you're talking about, why don't you just disable it, and create a lockscreen gesture in whatever trace pattern you want, no sliders, assuming you're on 6.1 stable....
I'm exactly in the same case you were. Since my update from 2.1 to 2.3.3 none of all the widgets I've tried manage to do the job. And each time I'm forced to redraw it to enable or disable.
Did any of you find a solution ?
PS : I used to do it with SwitchPro widget, tried with Beautiful widget and also with UnlockPattern Toggle.

yeah thank for your quick answer.
But unfortunatly I already knew this.
I'm just looking for a way to bypass the new security rules to do it with a widget. Just switch on/off.
Actually I'm on X10 2.3.3 rooted? But the original ask was the same.

[Q]removing/changing DEFAULT lockscreen?

hi, i'd like to know a way to change lockscreen
i've tried market software, as go locker and magic locker,
the first one, sometimes makes original lockscreen to appear
the second one, makes wake on a little slower
i know the best would be widget locker, but why spend 2 euros, when there isn't a 100% guarantee default locker won't appear? (in some comments on market, people say sometimes it appears)
using one of those software with a software like "no lock" or those who disable default screen, would be a good idea? there could be conflicts?
isn't there a way to eradicate lockers from framework, so problem is resolved, and those software can be used without problems?
(for what i have understood they add the lock effect to the launcher, so without a lockscreen would appear launcher directly)
i was also searching for a guide to make a customized default locker... but it seems an hard argument to find something on... couldn't find any guide on this particular problem...
i'm not just talking about wallpaper, those can be changed easily, talking about adding links to apps (dont think it would be difficult to copy the slider for unlocking, and make it an apk link or similar)
probably my searches are wrong, but i always found tutorials on how using market software like widget locker etc...
we can change anything in android, is lockscreen that hard to customize????????
thanks for replys
If you are rooted and using a CM7 based rom you can disable the default lockscreen completely so you won't have that problem widgerlocker is the best thing to use for what you are wanting. Go locker is what I use but they are still working on it and don't have custom app links

How, exactly? Would it apply to MIUI, too, which I understand is CM based?
Would this give me the option to unlock the screen only with a pattern, rather than with the MIUI unlocker first and then with a pattern?
Thanks
In CM7 you can go into CM settings--> tablet tweaks and check disable lockscreen ... I couldn't tell you about MIUI because it isn't available on my phone As far as disabling the lockscreen and still using a pattern to unlock I don't know what would happen because I don't use the pattern unlock .

[Q] Lockscreen settings

I'm on ARHD 20.1 and I would love to have a cleaner look on my lockscreen and remove, the clock as well as the defaults apps which are in my dock. It used to be you could edit and choose the apps that are displayed in the lockscreen but now i can only edit the wallpaper.
Any ideas ?

The only way to remove the apps on the lockscreen is to use a different launcher and remove all apps from the dock in Sense before switching to the 3rd party launcher, or, don't have any apps in the dock if you want to use Sense. With regards to the clock on the lockscreen, the only way to remove it is to use ViperOne ROM which has an option to disable it by way of a built in Mod (which I did ask the Dev about releasing it as a standalone Mod as I don't want to use Viper, I had no reply though) ... The other workaround is to delete HTCLockScreen.apk and use the default, Android lockscreen, this has issues though such as having to unlock to answer a call, no message notifications other than in the notification pulldown and same goes for missed calls ... The one positive though is you would do away with the weather and the apps on your lockscreen, and, btw of running some command in terminal, you can enable the ability to have different widgets such as cLock which lets you change colours and depending on your wallpaper, would allow for the possibility of having no clock (purely by having, for example, a black wallpaper and setting cLock up so that the fonts are black, this would essentially hide the clock from your lockscreen.
I use Apex Launcher but I edited a lot of apk's icons manually and they are incorporated into my ROM, same with Mods. I edited icons, menus, alsorts lol to get it set up right and flashable in one go rather than flashing loads of different Mods, it looks the same on Sense does mine btw as the icons in my dock are actually edited right in the apk rather than just chaging them on Apex ... It looks like this:

How did you remove the carrier name?
Hi,
is it really impossible for the moment to have a normally-working lockscreen or "no lockscreen", that does not eat the battery on HTC One?
I have noticed by "OS monitor", that even if I set "HTC no-lockscreen" active - idlescreen process keeps accessing my phone constantly and eating the battery, because it accesses WeatherProvider all the time! I don't want to use weather at all while my phone is locked and besides, I have a third-party Elecon HD weather app that I do use.
When in my custom ROM I set AOSP lockscreen as active - I have to unlock my screen on incoming call and alarming, as described here.
Just want to make sure: no any solution for the moment - to MAKE HTC lockscreen not to access weather service to save battery OR to customize side-lockscreen so, that it would auto-unlock my phone when alarming or incoming call?

[Q] Unable to install lockscreen widgets

I have a (rooted) P7-L10 running the latest update (2.3). I am unable to enable lockscreen widgets through Settings: Security as there is no such option available. Consequently, I am unable to install any lockscreen widgets. In fact, the only lockscreen option is the Huawei Unlock with no additional lockscreen pages, and no '+' sign to add any widgets, etc.
Any help to resolve this issue would be greatly appreciated as I am extremely interested in using DashClock (especially with DashNotifier).
Thank you in advance for any guidance.

I just checked and when the option should appear if the "Huawei Unlock" method is used. The option doesn't appear if you use something else (at least not on my phone).
Where does the option to enable lockscreen widgets appear for you when Huawei Unlock is selected? I have it enabled as well, and cannot find te option anywhere.

just under, in the "security" panel. I wish I could post pictures but I ****ed up by deleting the systemui.apk and I'm waiting for someone to upload his so I could fix my phone.
Thank you for your replies. I guess it is just somehow missing from my system as there is no such option in the security panel no matter what unlocking option I choose.
If you or anyone else knows how I can get the option back, it would be greatly appreciated.

Use an other theme. For exemple, I use paper rhyme and I have this option. But you can't have widget as default, you have to switch everytime on lockscreen :/
It is probably caused by Nova Launcher which I am really like and do not want to give up.
Any way, I have moved on to Plan B, and installed KK Locker, which is working out really well.
Thank you both for trying to help...

I am using Nova Launcher and Widgets in the lock screen are working. Are you using the right procedure? After enabling in the Setting > Security > thick, in home screen swipe DOWN until you see a padlock icon at the bottom THEN swipe to left or right and you can add the Widget!
That's the whole problem Sergiopi; there is no 'Enable Lockscreen WIdgets" option in my Security settings panel for me to check.
I get the exact lock sign you mentioned in my main lockscreen only after I install and use KK Locker. Otherwise, no widget option and no lock upon swipe down.
Thank you!

Thank you Nomaro; that was it. The stupid 'Balance' theme disables lockscreen widgets and forces its own "Magazine Lock' on the lockscreen. I changed the theme as you suggested, and voila! the option to enable widgets showed up.
Thank all those who tried to help.
glad you got it working!
now a little question about widgets:
can one of you tell me how to remove the main widget (the clock) or use another widget as the "main page" for the lock screen? I can't find anything working on the internet as everything I found just tells we to "click" it and delete it by swiping up like for a widget on the home screen, except it doesn't work.
help please ^^
I had/have the same problem. I figured out that I need to change theme of lockscreen, but no widgets seem to be working, anyways, only those of system apps.
