Just noticed I posted this in Android general instead of optimus 2x. Please delete the thread in Android general.
Just noticed 5 videos on my optimus 2x after upgrading to gingerbread.
They are commercials for 2 movies, 1 burger, 1 phone, 1 washing powder.
The phone commercial is for the Samsung Galaxy S II. WTF... why would LG put a commercial for Samsung in their GB update?
This doesn't make any sense to me, as they were not on my phone before the update.
They all claim to have been recorded on the 29th of october.
I can't even find them on the phone. They are not in "videos" and if I view "details" on them it says that their location is "unknown". They are on the phone when the external SD card is removed - so they must be on the internal somewhere.

Lol. Nothing like that here. I'd be willing to bet you this is fallout from one of your kids using your phone ;-)
Check the "download"-folder on the internal sd, or "Android/data".
Mate i found exactly the same in my videos folder, don't think its from a fresh rom but some game/app that you installed, i can't pin point where it came from but it was strange

It's the time to list your apps gentlemen...
EDIT: Or perhaps faster: Open the internal sd-card on your PC, search for all *.mp4 files, and it should be relatively easy to deduce which app it is from by looking at the path.
Very strange. I'll check it out tomorrow =)
i have those too. Haha. And i'm not using optimux 2x. so the culprit is probably an app.

Do you have Muffin Knight FREE game installed?
I saw those files on my phone after I tried that game. Uninstalled that game and haven't got any more spam after.
i have just wiped my phone and sd card so cant trace where they came from, but i did have a lot of free app on my phone at the time.
Since i deleted the vids I have had several roms on and quite a selection of games and other stuff but no more vids found, will keep updated if I find out, the sneaky little bastards

Hello,
I am running the latest MIUI ROM currently and the Milestone for about 14 months...
We were accusing always iPhone for not being able to multitask. Yes we can hear music while doing something else, and also programs running supposedly in background.
But do we really have these? I was in TripAdvisor forum, copied a phrase, then open NoteEverything program to paste the text. Then when i went back to TripAdvisor, the program started from the beginning! This happened to me 8 out of 10 times...
So i suppose we dont have really multitasking...

The way android manages processes is a bit different than you might think.
If you are low on memory (like the milestone/droid are) it will only save a "where you were" on the application you have in the background.
If you had a device with more RAM then you would probably be able to return to where you were "as you were" before you sent the application to the background.
I had the same "problem" with my milestone and Waze, after adjusting the low memory killer waze no longer needed to restart every time I sent it to the background.
However this comes with a price to other running applications.
You can learn more about how android works and manages processes at this youtube links, uploaded by androiddevelopers (I edited to correct the "uploded by").
Part 1 "Architecture overview"
Part 2 "Application lifecycle"
Part 3 "API's"
(I am unable to attach links because I am new to the site, Search youtube for "Androidology" and you should be presented with 3 videos by google with the titles I mentioned)
I think part 2 would be the most relevant to your question.
Very informative, thanks!
Ok thanks.
I think apple thought much earlier somethings, that others thought they were disadvantages...

Well, one minute apps were there, then the next minute I couldn't find them.
It looks like transferring apps from the system memory to the sdcard is the cause of this. I didn't have this problem when I had Tbolt. Can somebody duplicate this problem?
Also, I managed to crash the system while copying 300+ files from one folder in sdcard to another folder in internal memory . The screen went black and buttons weren't responding. I had pull the battery out to reboot.
Moto worked on this phone for additional 9 months and still has bugs like these? All these are not good at all.
I had similar problems. After installing apps from the market, I could use them, but after reboot some would be gone. One app that was giving me fits was the xda premium app. I think I reinstalled our about 5 times.

I'm glad I'm not the only one. I was playing the free version of Tetris that EA put on the Market, and I got a call while I was playing.
I picked up the call, finished it, and when I went back to the Home screen I held down the Home button to go to recently used apps and Tetris wasn't there. So I went into my App list and... Tetris wasn't there.
I went into the Market, and it said it was never installed.
Either I hallucinated the half hour before a phone call interrupted my psychotic perceptions of tetriminos, or the phone deleted the app all on its own.
Really strange.
I too had the same problem. Just download again and they stick.

It just happened again. I was transferring some files to the internal memory to sdcard, and the screen didn't wake up. It seems the system is running behind the screen, but I can't see anything on the screen.

I too have seen my XDA app disappear. Based on the layout of the stock launcher now I know other apps are missing, I just haven't figured out what...

Had same issue after reboot. Had to re-install apps. I've haven't tried to reboot again. I did download MyBackup so went ahead and backed up my apps and data. The weird thing is, when my apps disappeared and I had to re-install them, they didn't need my usernames or pws to be re-entered. So it seems the data was still there.
UPDATE: Rebooted and it happened again.
Same issue here, lost about 8 apps after reboot

Happening to me as well, I just moved everything back from the card onto the phone
I was able to fix the apps disappearing by going into manage applications then the media area tab and making sure that no apps were checked. Any that were I moved back to the phone.

I don't know if this has anything to do with it, but the Bionic, like the D3, is configured differently than other Android phones. The /sdcard partition is actually the internal storage... part of the 16GB the advertise as internal. The removable SDcard is /sdcard-ext. Not sure if that is a contributing factor. I've not seen that problem but I'll keep an eye out for it.
I'm coming from a og droid, so moving apps to the sd card is like second nature to me. I feel i just have to do it even though this phone has so much internal srorage in comparison. Is it possible that the problem is the sd card itself?
I didn't think about that, so when you move them is it going to the sd ext or the internal storage (sd). I did notice the sd and sd ext are different.
The same thing happens on reboot for me as well. I just go into titanium and restore each time which is a pain in the a$$.

so unlike other android phones currently in the market, MOTO made the real sdcard (sdcard-ex) almost obsolete. It's only dedicated for media storage and sharing.

This is so utterly ridiculous. I had to put all of my apps BACK onto my phone. Why even offer the extra storage if we can't use it to store what we'd like. I don't keep that much media on my phone.
Anyone tried another sd card? I'm thinking about wiping the one from my old phone and putting it in this bionic.

I have a 32gb I pulled from Tbolt, and I formatted it. One thing odd though, Titanium only reports 29gb available instead of 31~32 after the format.
OK, I know it's not haunted but...starting last evening my D3 periodically, and apparently randomly as concerns timing, begins playing one of the songs (and always the same song) I have stored both on my device and the cloud (google music beta). Oddly, I cannot find which program is playing the song.
Only thing I have changed lately near the same time as this starting was telling Titanium Backup Pro to backup to my external SD card instead of the internal storage, but I cannot imagine that has anything to do with this, can it??
Anyone else have similar experience that can tell me how to stop it?

I've actually noticed this trend in android devices in the past year or so. its not like a video game you can beta test with thousands of people. they gotta test the best they can in the development lab and factory... but users always find a way to stress phones way beyond what the devs thought we would do.
ahhhhh gotta love the users.

Why don't they play? And even though they don't play on my phone would it play if I sent it to someone?

I have a few on my phone from an old memory card. I didn't think they worked and delete a few of them (of course all the funny good ones) and I put them onto my desktop and they played fine. I assume they will play if sent to someone with the right phone that can play gifs, unlike the Revo.
I was just wondering because they worked fine on my incredible. And when I transfered my sd card they wouldn't play on the revo
Yeah the memory card I found was from an old LG Dare that my mom is using currently. I put it in my droid to install CM7 on it and I there was pictures so I put them on my Revo. The pictures were from like my freshman year of highschool... like 5 or 6 years ago.... So much old stuff. But anyways back on topic. They didn't work on the Revo. I never tried the Droid but I assume other phones would play them the Revo is just "funny".
.... The little things that bum me out about this phone lol

Same problem with Asphalt 6 and ICS on G Note
I have the same problem with Asphalt after update to official ICS on Galaxy Note. Game works ok then freezes after playing for about a minute. It also freezes intermittently on a black screen when i press the back button. I also have the version form the Samsung Apps store.

Well, I had faced in many Gameloft Games.
Later I found that Gameloft Games found over net (Torrents & Other Sharing Sites) mostly are not greatly compatible with Galaxy Note. They might turn up showing full screen but most users get stuck at downloading.
Whats the solution?
Try this Link: I guess it is Asphalt6HD which I downloaded before sometime & Worked well for me.
Another Solution: If you are going for paid games, then go to gameloft store & set compatibility to N7000 and then it will show you the exact version which you should buy. That will be sure shot working for the bucks you paid Besides they have Customer Care Online support if you shell your money for their apps
Before installing, remove all the data for the prior game you had downloaded. Then only it will work else a refund message shall come.
My version of Asphalt 6 came free from the Samsung Apps
My version of Asphalt 6 came free from the Samsung Apps store. It was working flawlessly until i update to ICS LPQ and now it FC after a minute or so of racing. Order and Chaos is also not working correctly. The game runs fine however i keep getting freezes on my phone every few hours with the touch screen locking up and not accepting input culminating in Android reporting that "the process order and chaos has stopped working" at which point the phone sort of warm reboots and my home screen and app draw is redrawn.

Yep, ruined by the upgrade. Did anyone get the message about trying to check for a newer version, but no connection?
Guys
1.0.3 version is for NOTE and free from Samsung Apps it works flawlessly on gingerbread but on ICS it stops after few minutes
1.3.3 works on ICS but you have to re download data as its data is different and 1.0.3 data wont work for 1.3.3
having said that 1.3.3 works on NOTE ICS but its graphics are poor / you can check by playing both versions side by side on ICS
you will see 1.0.3 has better graphics, its more clear even on start up screen where you see ASPHALT logo ..press screen to continue ...it is crisp and in HD quality
but on 1.3.3 its not clear
so right now the only thing is get back to GB and enjoy your asphalt 6 until we get an update
plus you can also play Real Racing 2 on GB and that too dont work on ICS
happy playing
samsung apps removed this game already. No longer available...
