i have got this captivate but I'm unable to install CWM recovery which is not getting past that verifying packages and giving an error saying signature verification failed...
any help would be helpful,

successfully got CWM recovery with the help of script....
first tried manually but got error saying disk is full while pasting the recovery file in /system/bin

I am trying to install CW recovery on my phone, but when i get into recovery mode to install the update.zip, it aborts the install and says i have a Status 2 error.
Just wondering how one would fix this error. Ive looked around and found nothing...... so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Edit: It would be fun if we have some sort of error repertoire for the recovery mode, with say the errors and the most common fixes for them.. or if we already have one and someone can point me to it.
what exactly is that update.zip file you were trying to install via CWM?
Hi, first post so go easy on me if this has been asked before!
I'm basically having problems in recovery mode. When I try to do a Nandroid backup there is no option for it. When I select reinstall packages the status says failed to install update.zip or something along the lines of that. Same thing happens when I try to flash a rom. Anybody know whats going on?

Yeah I did. I flash the latest version with rom manager. I see the update.zip in the internal sd card folder but im still getting the same message.

Did you flash the leaked froyo? If so you have 3e recovery, and clockwork recovery will not work. You will have to flash back to stock using odin. You can find it in the captivate development thread. Make sure you are flashing jh6. All of the custom roms have fixed this problem with the recovery not working with clock work
If you are not on the leaked froyo I have nothing

I'm almost sure he has to be on Froyo. 3e recovery requires signed .zips which is where he's having the issues with.
I have flashed my captivate back to stock with Odin and rooted using One Click Root. After installing Rommanager I tried to flash Clockwork and get this error message, "An error occurred while downloading your recovery." I have unistalled and re installed and get the same message. Can anyone help here?

Hi, i'm trying to install cyanogenmod on my Galaxy using this guide, but when i try to load 'Hardcore's SpeedMod Kernel with ClockworkMod Recovery' with heimdall i get this error 'Tar header contained an invalid file size'. I received the same error when i earlier tried the FuguRoot method. I'm running windows 7 32-bit.
Any ideas what is going wrong here? Thanks!
So was eventually abel to get it to work by using an older build of heimdall. And i flashed the 'ClockworkMod Recovery' successfully, but now of course, my galaxy is stuck on the boot screen. Great!

Sounds like you're having the exact same problem as me. Tried following the wiki, and first got stuck in a loop. Then after a reboot and a new try got an assert error. Then, after removing the assert somehow got cyanogen's recovery-image and seemingly installed cyanogen successfully from this, but now I'm stuck at boot.
The new Heimdall seems to want a tar-package with a full firmware replacement.

I was trying to flash stock rom with nightcrawler witrhout clockwork and i bricked my ace(white screen).I thought i installed clockwork before but it didnt installl i guess.It tells me unable to mount system partition and error in /tmp/sideload/package.zip whenever i try to install something in recovery mode.So now I am in download mode in odin trying to flash stock rom it tells me WRITE ERROR.Ive tried a bunch of different roms on sammobile.com but nothing works.PLEASE HELP!
