[Q] unwanted apps - LG Thrill 4G

does anybody know if there is a way to somehow delete wanted apps from the thrill such as 3d apps and facebook or twitter crap. if so i would love to remove this stuff just a hassell to go through all that stuff to get to the good apps. thanks in advance

first u mist have root, second download rootexplorer from market, then once all that is done, use root exp to get into system/app amd delete unwanted apk's. run a search on xda to find which apk's are ok to delete.

You can first use the Titanium Backup app (need the root), and freeze applications and see how it works, before deleting it.

[Q] broken linking with Google Search

Okay so my problem is, i uninstalled Google Search via titanium backup, then reinstalled it via market...now my search button does not bring up google search and any other app that links to google search gets a FC when attempting to do a search...i did this with all my Gapps and none of the other one's are having this issue, im wondering if there is a way i can get the search app re-recognized by the system without having to reflash my ROM
Try integrating the app back into system using the Titanium batch option...

its not an option for me, the only thing there is Market
Use Root Explorer to look for the app in /data/app, and move it to /system/app, then rename to GoogleQuickSearchBox.apk and reboot.

thank you, this did it

i removed all bloatware. didnt freeze or back up

is this bad???
Might make it more difficult to do an update. I just renamed the .apk's to .bak which has the same effect as deleting them.
I'm sure you can find the files you deleted somewhere when and if you need them.
When a new OTA comes out, you could just ask for a backup of the apks you deleted - then you'll be fine.
As snowblind64 said, it'll just make it more of a pain. I'd recommend using Titanium Backup in the future.
Noob question, but how are you removing the bloatware, or what application are you using to do so.
I just rooted my Droid 3!
Thanks guys.

Download titanium backup from the market. Dont uninstall FREEZE them. same thing. save you the trouble i got into.
Another good idea (if you're someone who might ever take an OTA - I wouldnt, just as soon as it's out the devs get it and make it better), but root explorer. Absolute must-have if rooted. Instead of deleting apks from system/app, just move them to a folder on sd card, so you have em if you need em later.
But OTA updates are bad. Let the devs fix em first.

They are in Titanium (root is needed). Freeze is better then uninstall, you can experiment what to remove and easily return back. And there is somewhere a list of apps which are safe to remove, search for it. Of course, you can remove all of unwanted apps from the rom before flashing it.
Edit:
Read here about what apk's are secure to remove http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=989283
Thanks friends,
I even did it through titanium backup. I took a backup and then uninstall. Its goes very smooth without much prob.
Thanks

Remove Facebook Pics from Gallery??

Anyone know of a tweak, mod or ANYTHING that can remove my friends pics from my gallery? It's the only thing about the phone that is now annoying me...
Thanks.

Not sure if this will remove them from all of the gallery as I don't have facebook installed, but from within the gallery, have you tried: My photos>Menu>Show/hide albums then un-checking facebook?
Yep it's unticked but it's the screen even before My Photos that has it plastered everywhere underneath My Photos, Camera Shots, etc.
I've tried removing it from online services but it just logs out of Facebook and they go away but come back once you log in again.

If your rooted.
Download es explorer, go into system/apps and delete everything related to Facebook/twitter. Then just download Facebook/twitter from the play store. This should solve it, personally I have not tried it yet but its worked on all other/previous devices.
You need s kernel which allows system write as well.

I can find Facebook.apk and FacebookEngine.apk but can't delete them. I have teaMSeven kernel installed which has system write - do I need to enable it somewhere? Ie. Kernel Tuner?
Thanks

You can also use titanium backup to freeze Facebook and Twitter engines.

From Xperia SP with XperiaLised HuaShan Dark ROM
Well, rather than uninstalling, a more better option would be to freeze them.
You can use Link2SD on Play Store to freeze unwanted apps, or use Titanium Backup Pro (Paid) to freeze them. You can uninstall them from both the apps too.
Best of luck. :good:
