Can anyone tell me what I have to do to remove the sound bites and Verizon has accompanying the start-up splash screen? I'm just annoyed by the tones whenever I restart my phone.
BTW: I'm running stock GB rooted.
Seriously. I set my phone to Silent Mode before shutting down every night because I don't want to hear that jingle, full bore, waking up the wife.
Edit: So, I second the motion!

Thanks Turtle. Don't want to overthink it but there's no need to replace the wavs with a dead air sound clip? Just delete the files, right?

Yup! You could also just rename the extension to .bak if for some reason you ever want them back...
VS910 4G [ICK GV 1.2]
Ok. I tried renaming the startup.wav file using root explorer with su permission but I leroi getting an error. Says it can't be changed because it's read-only. How do I change it from read-only?

In the top right corner in Root explorer there's a box that says [mount r/w], click on that to make the system writable

Is it safe to assume i might be able to add sound to my boot by placing sound files with this name in those locations? I've been meaning to mess with it, I've had a lot of fun ideas!

Try froyo mms fix. It's on here somewhere, just search for it
Not sure then. I had a huge problem with Handcent so I switched to Chomp. It works great. Maybe try using that one or GoSMS and see if the problem persists.
Which carrier are you on? I bet it's not Sprint.
You might be missing the required APN's
Try flashing the attachment, it fixed my MMS problem that you have on Alltel.
Also I peeked in the file and it has more APN's than just for Alltel.
So I don't think it will hurt to try it
Enjoy! and let me know if it works!

Too bad they couldn't have wrapped these fixes into a 2.3 rollout. These bug fixes seem pretty trivial...
Is this the update that is going to "block" tethering like the update to the TBolt?
Not sure. I wont be surprised if they had something hidden within the update that would disable it. Dont take my word for it tho, this is only my opinion lol

Well, I do like the fact that my keyboard won't pop up in messenging. Other than that, its no good to me. I can get app updates, don't care about the call stuff, and yah, they probably have some more bloat ware. NO THANK YOU.
Hey Tylerfixer, can you snag the keyboard fix, and work that into your decrap 2.1? Could someone get the code for that fix?
I agree. Its a useless update lmao

I've got it working on my Win 7 ride. Its slow as snot, but it works. Also works on my IPAD, NOOK and a couple of other devices. It took me forever, but I did get it to work. I can't wait for TheCubed's version, I'm sure it will be much easier to use.

My update failed, keeps going into recovery and can't figure out where it downloads or how to avoid it. Any one else get this?
@ Lightning - Clockwork recovery gave me the same thing...It blocked it from installing.
Rebooted and came up like normal afte saying the install failed... I'm new to all this so I'm sure this is old news for the veterans here - but Clockwork recovery blocks OTA updates. I don't mind when it comes to minor updates such as this - But I'm wondering if I'm going to have to wait for an updated rooted Revo 2.3 ROM in order for me to experience the GINGERLUV??
@ drt054 - WIFI tethering works just fine on my revo. Downloaded the 3.1 beta2 google apk (right here in these forums)
Installed clean - fired up the app and noticed that I would get intermittent connection... Then I turned on Access-control and once I granted permissions to the connection everything went like butter. 4G speeds off the laptop no problem!

Update Fails, stock unrooted!
When I attempted to update 2 or 3 times I got the following error: "Device runs out of memory."
Is this update file saving to internal phone memory that you need root access to save to??? The file is 69.5MB and all of the 3 storage locations have over 700 MB of remaining storage.
After the 2nd or Third time it now tells me that there is "no new software update available."
Anyone else having trouble???
I'm getting the same "out of memory" error. I have plenty of space as well, so not sure what the problem is.
I'm rooted w/o clockwork mod installed.
Yes, I know I could just install a custom ROM. But I'm just looking for the quick fix. I heard the latest OTA breaks root and makes it harder to root or impossible. Just want to get rid of the notifications for now.
Alternatively, does anyone have the build.prop from the OTA that I could just copy over so the phone thinks it's updated?
It requires more than just a build.prop edit.

What is this, a secret society? If I need to do more than modify the build.prop, then what is it? Would you like me to rephrase the question?
You asked what to modify in the build.prop. I answered your question. No need for the smart alec secret society comment. This is a pretty chill group of people that will do anything for anybody. I for one take that kind of stuff personal and would generally not help out, but I'll be nice this time around.
You have to update, modify the boot.img, modify the update apk, or you can delete the Update apk and lose bluetooth.

Ok, so you're saying that if I want to go back to Derap 1.1 all I have to do is delete the updat.apk but I'll lose BT? I don't have to modify boot.img and update.apk just delete update.apk? I'm cool with losing BT, I don't use it.
I really appreciate the work you are doing MT. I just like the stock themed ROM like what was in Decrap a little better than the green.
Keep up the work though I may come back to Revolt yet! You said you were working on a more stock themed ROM is that still going to happen?

I am working on it, the fun part is working around bing. They have not only integrated it into the system but it is forced into lghome also. I may work on it some more tonight. I have got to work on some bug fixes on revolt then I may move over to the new.

Thanks! Bluetooth isn't a big deal.
Since renaming MobileUpdateClient.apk to .bak it looks like I'm going to get a serious boost in battery life. Since doing this, 3 hours ago, I've only lost 5% of battery. I would usually lose around 10% every hour. Maybe BT has something to do with poor battery life on this phone? I don't know, but it's worth looking into. I hope it's the case.
On a side note, you may want to reboot after update, or do what I did and try to enable BT. When you try to enable BT it will act like it resets the phone sort of like a soft boot. Phone feels lighter too....lol jk.
Is there a way to change the CPU min-max without an app?
Sent from my VS910 4G using xda premium
I believe if I've read right it's somewhere in the build.prop file. If I'm wrong somebody can correct me.
There were some posts about changing it manually in the thread for Gingervolt I believe. Maybe it was the thread for blitzkrieg. Check those 2 threads starting at the end. I know it was recently.

Oh ok you found it?
At first I was using the init.d files (/system/etc/init.d/) to change the max min, but I was getting 5+ vibrate reboots a day. I started using rom toolbox pro a few days ago with the exact same settings, and I haven't gotten any reboots since. If you start getting reboots, try using an app.
Also, if you do use the init.d files to change the max/min, I recommend using root explorer and make sure you set permissions to r/w, otherwise when you edit the files and hit save, it won't actually save. Took me a few tries to figure out that nothing was actually changing. =)
