thats samsung's new update policy for u
The ROMs between SGS2 and SGS+ are totally different. The numbers can be the same, but it doesn't matter. You can check other Samsung's stock ROMs just to notice they are all quite similar.
Do not in any case try to flash ROM from different phone.
Thanks. Is there a 2.3.5 firmware available for mine?

Some potential bug fixes, like camera or so on. Battery life and performance seems a bit better. There's also 2.3.6 (ZSKP6) But includes only few asian languages and English UK and US
I know it is a bit of a cheek but do you have a link for the 2.3.6 firmware?

Need some help here u guys....
I dont want to open up a new thread for this so i guess it'll fit right in here...
I downloaded ROM Toolbox recently which btw ****ED UP my phone, sonetimes the phone gets stuck now and many apps (also some I've already installed before) cant be downloaded via marked cuz now they are marked as not compatible with my device...
so before i play arround like crazy theres one question :
Is there a ROM out there which is like an enhanced version of the stock rom ? Many roms dont look very good (talking about the appearance), and an enchanced version of the stock rom without all the sync bs of google and stuff would be very cool....
this rom toolbox is such a crappy tool for sgs+....
i really need some help here this phone is starting to piss me off and i only rooted it and never flashed a new rom to the sgs+ (to no other phone neither)..
Can u guys give me some advices here plz ?

Thanks
EDIT:Oops sorry wrong thread
Yesterday I rooted and flashed the "Install Android 4.0.1 ICS Custom ROM on Samsung Galaxy S2" to my
GT I001SGS plus and I am success full.
The only difference in adoption was I copied the 4.0.1 ICS Custom ROM to my external sd card and used the recovery mode
now my S plus is

Firmwire version : 2.3.5
Baseband version: I9001XXKPF
Kernal version: 2.6.35.7-perf

Hey.
Yesterday I upgraded to 2.2 froyo and then rooted it. I was looking around and began to be interested in modding/themeing my phone. But, i'm unsure if I need to be on a custom rom or if being on the official rom is fine to use.
Thanks
Please Help Me!
I am currently running Firmware 2.2 Baseband Version UCJI6 Kernel 2.6.32.9 [email protected]#1 Build FROYO.UCJI6. I updated to that with odin3 so my phone hasnt been rooted either. Obviously I want to upgrade my phone to a more recent version of 2.2 but am not sure how to go about it. I tried to update the kb1 that was just released but kies mini will not read my phone. Can anyone please help me. Id really appreciate it. Thanks!

For modding you want an unthemed rom for themeing it doesnt matter.

Alright, sweet. I'll probably just stick with theming then. I'm pretty satisfied with official froyo, so i don't really want to go through the hassle of flashing a custom rom onto my phone just for a mod.
And i'm just gonna ignore the other guy's comment, lol.

Each ROM is customised differently with different features. Basically stay stock if you do not know what features you want.
DO NOT flash a any ROM until you have backed up your EFS folder (google hint = IMEI).
If you ask what is your EFS folder you are not ready for a non stock ROM.
On most proper instructions for flashing a rom, EFS backup step is compulsory.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using Tapatalk
If you really need a reason to stay on stock:
1. You need to get used to the phone.
2. You never flashed SGS until now.
3. You have not read anything the other forum colleagues gave you.
4. You did not even tried to search the forums before posting this.
5. You might brick the device and then get back here and complain.
Need more? Sorry, but before posting you, and others that want everything on a plate, should use search and read everything posted here.
The "Galaxy S I9000 General" section clearly says: Discussion about the Samsung Galaxy S I9000 (tips & tricks, etc)
Every custom rom has a "How To" section in the OP. Also, every rom has a "What to do in case of" section. So you can try it on your own. There were cases in which the owner hardbricked the device in the first 45 minutes after he received it. So be careful.
i don't know what EFS even mean.
i'm just lazy to read all of it and there's not much i can understand.
so maybe you're all right that i stay with the stock firmware.
my phone still hasn't arrived, i'll just post here again what firmware it has and how should i update it.
btw, one more thing, so custom ROM's acts like a customized Android firmware, is that right?
and thanks for everyone who replies here and gives me their advices.

Again many this has been covered on many threads relating to flashing ICS ROMS in particular. Flashing can result in the IMEI number being over written Your IMEI is stored encripted in a file contained in the EFS folder (IMEI = unique number that identifies your handset on the mobile networks) and then not being able to make or recieve phone calls in extreme examples to random apps downloading from google play or not able to access google play at all.
For more info on this i strongly suggest that you google "backing up EFS folder" and "backing up IMEI"

but there's a custom ROM that has been leaked that looks like Android 4 (ICS).
will there be a Android 2.4?
i never knew that Android needs a lot of work compared to iOS where it just needs to be jailbreak for you to have the freebies and to be open source.
Iphones run on a common HARDWARE
Android have many different versions of hardware ie Samsung, HTC etc etc etc
Each android phone requires the base code of Android to be customised with device specific drivers etc hence the difference between Android and Iphones.
Your wording is exactly that "CUSTOM" meaning not a Samsung ROM.
As stated before Samsungs stance with the SGS 1 is that they will not release ICS for the handset as there is not enough available RAM (memory) for ICS and their Touchwiz apps
i think i want to install a ROM if i get my Galaxy S by tomorrow.

Hey mate,
I'm new to all this too and have recently bought a s5839i (2 weeks ago), I aslo bricked my phone after 2 days as I found information on the s5839i sparce and I didnt take the time to reseach up as I should have done.
Ive since found out that Odin v1.83 works with our devices and I reloaded with a stock polish rom from sammobile and everything was fine again I couldnt get the clockworkmod to fully work on the rom, you could install it but when I went into recovery mode after a reboot it would just go back to the android version rather that the ClockworkMod.
I then tried the Retribution_beta3.5 and it works fantastic, looks so much better than stock and I also now have the flash player working which was my aim from the get go. I am now able to run ClockworkMod v5.0.2.6 and back up my device.
The only thing that worries me now is in "about phone" my model number now shows up as GT-S5830i rather than GT-S5839i, sure it make no difference like.
Hope this helps you, Im just reading as many threads as I can now to find out more info, I want to get the sky go app to work.

I can't find polish clean (unbranded) rom for s5839i, because I have a lot of problems with my T-mobile rom. (S5839iBOLC5). And also I can't flash CWM recovery for it. Only root works fine.

Hello,
Recently I get a SHW-M180S Korean Galaxy TAB. It work like a charm but I need extra features and a good custom rom.
I did a lot of research, even in korean forums, but I can't get much info on how to root and install roms.
- First problem is rooting. I know Froyo 2.2 is easily rooteable but I have an:
Android 2.3.6
Kernel version 2.6.35.7
Build number GINGERBREAD.UC27
Wich is imposibble for me to root. I've tryed SuperOneClickv2.3 and DooMLoRD's Easy Rooting Toolkit with no luck and a few other with the same result. I know for sure it's related to Gingerbread 2.3.6 and didn't find a tool or tutorial on how to root it.
-Second is the rom change. I know that there are a few posts asking for this, but, I didn't find a clear and concise response to:
can I flash a rom for a TAB P1000 to a SHW-M180S???
I hope that some one can answer me or at least guide me in the correct direction because all the info I found about it finish on a dead end. At least for my Gingerbread 2.3.6
Thanks is advance...

I reply my self afer days of digging around and risking my TAB in to a brick.
I've found a rom that is the last one developed for the SHW-M180S (Android 2.3.6 UC27) but rooted.
I have flashed it with Odin 1.85 wich is the one known to work well with this device. Everything goes well and now I have a rooted TAB. Here is the link to download it.
http://rapidlibrary.com/source.php?file=ulcm8efvyti89on&sec=eea10ad4
Now I want to go further and have a compatible and working custom recovery but I don't know which can work, so please, I need some one to guide me!!
Of course, I want also to have ICS and I have also foun a ICS rom for this device but I dare not flash it without warranties.
so if some one knows how to do it or at least a korean forum where I can find info, I'll be realy pleased.

why not to try CyanogenMod 9.1 for P1000 as long as you have an official Rom you can install it from odin
i'm downloading the Rom you mentioned i'll try P1000 CWM update then try ICS rom
see you after a while
Today i try flash my M180S with P1000XEJQ8 and TAB die, only the light when i try power on.
After flash (use odin) with HOME_M180S.TE23.1719_CL227119_REV03_user_low_ship.tar.md5, it hanging on the "Galaxy tab". I do wipe and try reflash again, but same.
How repair TAB?

I`m very pleased that we have some responses in this thread. Keep on testing guys so we can have more info on this specific samsung model

As I have said in a few posts above, you soud try to install UC27 to fix the tablet. Here is the link http://rapidlibrary.com/source.php?file=ulcm8efvyti89on&sec=eea10ad4
Put the tab in downlod mode and flash with odin1.85

I meant backup your internal storage , photos , videos and other stuff not asked you to make a nandroid backup. you can flash the kernel but it does not make nandroid backup so you just have to deal with it. if you can't factory reset before flashing you can do it after flashing.
I have provided you the original thread link . you should read all the stuff there. i can only help you if something goes wrong. by the way you always can flash stock firmware.
here is the stable High resolution 2.3.6 stock version.

If you don't care about the data you have now, you could try flashing the semaphore GB kernel and then flash whatever ROM you want or, you could download the latest firmware from Samfirmware and then I'll help you further!

Thank you for the reply. I don't care about my data but could please be more specific about those ways you mentioned, as i said i am not very familiar with XDA forum and sometimes it's confusing because there is much information.

Hoping you know how to use Odin, and also what a kernel is, Semaphore is a kernel which has CWM. At the moment, let's just aim for CWM. So you will have to download this file and flash it via Odin in the PDA tab.
Does my phone have to be in download mode or not while doing this? Different guides show that it has to and others that not.

The file I gave you has to be flashed via Odin. So the Download Mode would be a critical yes
