Hey guys, i'm receiving official firmware update(i think because it's called samsung update) via zune just right now. I didn't even expect it!
updating................
Uploaded with ImageShack.us
you are on Mango relase, correct? .... maybe InternetSharing update
Normaly before ZUNE install the update, the make a Backup to restore the pre relase.
If yo unsure, try this backup solution here
[APP] simply 100% BACKUP your phone - to 100% RESTORE over ZUNE
and try this update ......
finished, rebooted, then downloading another update, when rebooted the 1st time remained at least 2 minutes stuck at samsung omnia7 boot logo, if you are scared go have a walk in other rooms of your house, do your bed, clean up the mess, it worked for me
Uploaded with ImageShack.us
please let us know the firmware, bootloader radio version when its done plz!

very confused over this update practice
I have ever thought a un-braded ROM are the better choice ....
My Omnia 7 is a t-mobile "light" branded device. before come the officially MANGO i have it flash it with a un-branded ROM. But it had a older firmware + no InternetSharing.
so i have few weeks ago my device flash with the t-mobile ROM. I`M now pleased with it and happy over the InternetSharing function ...
I have few WiFi only (tablet) devices and wouldn be without this great future .......
yes the T-mobile ROM KH2 posted on mobiletechworld will persuade Zune to upgrade it to
radio 242.11.9.1
firm 242.11.9.4
bootloader 5.9.3.0
internet sharing & compass works perfectly now !
I had issues with the Data connection on Orange UK , but used the Samsung app "network profiles" to switch from T-mob de and it's all good.
I think the reason that the non-branded ones are lacking is, that not all carriers want internet sharing enabled.. so the generic one doesn't get it.. also I suppose the cost of testing it has to be paid by someone.. T mobile in this case

hi , i have the same relase as you, but i have no good working compass
which compass you use?
cheers, miro
my version with diagnosis now:
PDA: I8700XXKI2
Phone: I8700XXKI1
CSC: I8700ITVKI2
and btw if you really need internet sharing you could enable it using diagnosis on a unbranded phone
just follow this guide on mobiletechworld and keep in mind you have to revert to zune sync when you want to use zune again
thanks
Just recieved these updates too, no Interner Sharing either.
In fact I see no difference other than build numbers?
Ex UK T-Mobile Omnia 7
Sim Unlocked
Un-Branded

Phone:I8700XXKG2

I am wondering why my phone version is ki1 and not ki2 could someone enlighten me, please?
Hmm well, my Omnia 7 differs from all of yours.
Seems like you are struck without Internet Sharing and on Mango 7720.
Ever though about flashing the firmware to a newer version? Or using a ROM from another carrier?
Mine is a Omnia 7 with T-Mobile Germany Branding and I had received Internet Sharing together with Mango 15 days ago.
I even received a few hours ago another new update, which changed the OS version to Mango 7.10.7740.16.
I already announced it on forums here (screenshot and version numbers there):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1349495
the thread title is "omnia7 no brand no logo firmware update" how did u understand your t-mobile germany omnia7 is different from ours???
thank you for the completely off topic post, we are able to read the forum I think
I successfully set up connection from my laptop with my unbranded omnia7 and found a little error on mobiletechworld guide using it
so here's step by step for my case: samsung gt-i8700 and wind ITA carrier with windows7 home premium x64
phone version:
PDA: I8700XXKI2
PHONE: I8700XXKI1
CSC: I8700ITVKI2
1:dial ##634# and press call to enable diagnosis menu
2: in diagnosis menu dial*#7284# and select the middle option: Modem, Tethered Call, and reboot phone as asked
3: Download and install http://www.multiupload.com/GH391NDSY1 and don't mind the Verizon branding on install wizard
4: connect the phone with usb cable to the laptop and wait for driver install, and check in device manager; you should see Samsung mobile modem
Uploaded with ImageShack.us
you could also double click and go in properties --> diagnostics --> and press query modem to se if replies correctly
5: now go to http://www.2shared.com/file/_Ty7WFZ7/WINDEasyConnect_20100111.html and download wind easy connect and install; be sure to not select any drivers during installation
6:wind easy connect then will detect the omnia7 and asks if he should use it, say yes and voilĂ , you can now use the auto-configurable dialer to connect with omnia7 and surf happily
Uploaded with ImageShack.us
be sure to check if you have a data plan that permits the use of cell phone as a modem(i asked call center) i'm not responsible if you don't check and have then to pay a lot of phone bill
and remember that omnia7 is not officially supported by wind ita
sorry for my bad english

Hi,
I've recently moved from Australia to the USA (with an AT&T sim) and would like to upgrade to 2.2. Kies still does not have an image available so I'm looking to flash it myself but not sure which ROM file to use.
The phone is unlocked and unbranded. The version details are:
PDA: I9000DTJG4
PHONE: I9000DTJG3
CSC: I9000XSAJG2
I've been reading about the I9000UGJK3 image but I believe that installs the Bell branding on the phone, which I'd like to try avoid.
Which image should I be using?
Thanks
Ivan
use information from this topic
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=810232
to locate your code
then use information from this topic to flash your phone, using the ROM for your phone
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=853950
if the KIES comes back with no results for Froyo, then that means it has not been released yet for Australia region, and you will have to pick from any of the other flavours available
or stay in 2.1
Thanks for the quick reply.
According to regedit I have a GT-I9000HKAXSA. This doesn't seem to be listed as a "known" product code just yet. Which might explain why Kies doesn't have an update for it yet.
I guess what I'm trying to determine is a) can any image be placed on any phone? b) if yes, then what would be the best image if I wanted to flash my phone and have it work in the USA on AT&T (I'm trying to make sure that my correct 2/3G bands are still going to work post flash)
Dude, I did this tonight and it worked
http://webtrickz.com/how-to-update-...oid-2-2-froyo-via-kies-anywhere-in-the-world/
And I'm in Australia on the optus network
I just couldn't believe the lag and I didn't want to root my phone just yet
I also couldn't believe that Vodafone got froyo straight out of the box!
when it says "refresh" after you've done the regedit bit it means hit your home button. worked straight away
Vodafone straight out of the box?!? Where did you hear that? Not true I'm with vodafone australia and we got eclair, I did the reg edit to get XXJPO like you
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
Thanks Guys, I managed to sort this by using Odin and putting I9000XWJPA on it. Almost bricked the thing b/c I didn't read all the documentation completely!
Seems to be working like a charm at the moment.
Allot of us forced the mango update on Zune, but did not get the new drivers from Samsung.
So here it is a quick and dirty way of getting you phone up to date
Download the package from Here.
Unrar it to you pc.
Plug in you Omnia ,make sure Zune is not open.
If you have windows x64 click on the update-driversx64.bat shortcut.
If you have windows x86 click on the update-driversx86.bat shortcut
Follow the promps...
Notes:
You doing this at you own risk.
update can take up to 30 minutes
Tested in windows xp with an unbranded Omnia7, in windows vista or seven you may need to run the shortcut as an administrator.
After the update your Firmware version should be 24.11.8.5 and Bootloader version should be 5.8.1.9
You doing this at you own risk.
Good Luck.
As I see from FW number and BL version, these should be drivers from KH5 FW.
What's the difference, if any at all, with KH2 FE, i. e
FW 2424.11.8.2
BL 5.8.0.8
Radio is the same in both - 2424.11.7.2
rgds
I updated to Mango and ended up with the 2424.11.8.2 firmware instead of 2424.11.8.5 as well. Very tempted to use this method to update my Omnia 7. Will using this method cause any problems updating via Zune in the future?

Im not 100% sure but it should, the update only goes thrue if required by the device, if the devices does not need it or not compatible the update gets discarded.
I had the Mango flashed following threads from here from a month or so ago , a night or 2 ago i got 1 update (A Samsung update) i have had no others though i have the fw and bl mention in the first post . Am i up to date with only this one update ??
Others have mentioned "Beta clean ups" i haven't had these
Good. I got problems updating the drivers via zune. I guess those are official I'll be updating soon.
Thank you
worked like a charm, I needed this to get the wifi tethering to work, had the option there any everything but needed the sammy drivers.
I have an Omnia 7 that is "3" branded. I was running RTM 7220, plugged my phone into zune and it had 10 updates..
am I right in thinking I now have official Mango? so confused as everyone else seems to say the update hasn't come for us yet, but mines there now with hidden wifi and everything..
Installed the update and it works like a charm. Thank you.

Hi guys,
I'm getting update error on Mango 7720.
This is my Mango upgrade path..
NoDo -> ISV Beta -> 7403 -> 7720
I've been unable to install the Samsung Firmware, all I get is:
Error:
Update device 9d76937d - e66da2ea - e6327312 - f45fcae9 Complete with error code

The only restore point that I have is NoDo+Prov.cab that brought my phone to the Beta path (takesonetomango tool). Meaning that if I connect my phone to Zune, it says that the 'ISV Beta' update is available.
Anyone have any idea on how I could get the latest firmware? or possibile unprovision my phone so I could get on the normal path..and hopefully get the firmwares through the official production server?
I'm hoping that I won't need to reflash my device as it contains many SMS messages that I'd like to keep.
Works perfectly.
But I dont see any changes, what does this update exactly do?

Is this WP7_ENGINEER or WP7_PRODUCT???

Here's a collection of the OEM CAB updates for the Quantum captured via wireshark.
CAB updates can be pushed to your phone via cabsender:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1248799
Instructions on how to capture OEM updates:
Startup WireShark and monitor you internet connection in promiscuous mode. Enter filter: "http.request" (without the double quotes). Start to update your phone. You'll see all the webrequests it makes. You'll also see which cab-files will be downloaded for your language packs.
If you capture a new update, please feel free to post the link here and I will update accordingly.

hi, i am in INDIA with AT&T unlocked Quantum. I want Wifi Tethering.
Does any of the above .cab provide that ?
Also, is AT&T having the latest drivers , i see the version as 1.1.16 , while others are in 1.0.X
none have wifi tethering. Also the version numbers are misleading, ATT actually has the oldest drivers. You can open the CAB files inside winrar and then open the sub-cab files and view the dates they were modified.
which one has the latest drivers for Mango.
I am planning to push the TELECOM NEWZEALAND CABs to my Quantum. As it has some post mango drivers released on OCTOBER2011
Whats your recommendation on the same?
Thanks bob. This is awesome. If I had a spare Quantum, I'd try to send other model cabs to my C900AT.
Can i push the latest drivers to my AT&T Quantum ?
Will it cause any issues to the device ?
if you have an ATT rom installed, it should already offer you those drivers.
I mean to ask, can i push the Telstra drivers to my AT&T quantum ?
Will it cause any issues to my device ?
I have flashed all carriers ROMs to my c900b and updated them all full via official updates, so in that sense it should be ok. However, I have never successfully sent a drivers cab from another provider to my phone - i tried to send the ATT drivers to my bell rom but it failed to install. no harm was done.
One last question to you. ? I got a AT&T sim unlocked mobile with me.
If i Flash another ROM to this mobile, do i need to buy Sim unlock code again from the Carrier of the ROM.?
Can you please clarify?
the unlocked state of the phone has remained intact for me while flashing all roms available on c900b
Thanks for the info. I tried flashing the Telecom-NZ firmware and it is successful.
Telstra WIFI tethering drivers update found and posted:

did you send the NZ cab update? or did you flash the NZ firmware?
actually, i tried flashing both NZ and telstra ROMs.
I found Telstra to be more smooth and faster that NZ.
I flashed the ROMs directly, did tried to send the Firmwares.
ok, I am confused. can I take the Telstra wifi cabs and install them on my ATT LG Quantum C900 by changing the registry keys to Telstra? Or do I have to wait for an official ATT US update (if there ever will be one)?
According to me,
you can't take the telstra cab and flash . there is a problem with the firmware number , AT & T current firmware and Radio SW version is 1.1.16.0 but for telstra after this update it just came to 1.0.5.10. Even though you change the registry keys , it wont gets successfully installed.
But, give it a try , flashing with a wrong cab wont cause any damage to the device. The update will fail thats it. I have tried to flash many other cabs file to my quantum and nothing ever has happened till now.
All the best.
A question about WIFI
Hello there everyone,
Do any of you know if any of those firmwares and their corresponding updates add the capacity for connecting to hidden WIFI networks?? Microsoft included that on Mango, but LG seems to have omited its implementation, perhaps because of drivers related issue.
I know for sure the BELL-CA updates does not include it. But I need it. Have any of you seen this functionality in any of the roms after they have being updated?
Best regards to all,
Zedd.

Sasktel (Bell Wireless Alliance) does not include the ability to connect to hidden wifi either.
Maybe the Telstra firmware does? It has wifi tethering so it should have an updated driver.

EDIT 2: Can't install lang pack.. anyone know why? It throws a strange error :/
Good day, I have a problem with my android and firmware update. I have seen some blogs about xperiaV posting that they already have JB 4.3 update and the latest version of firmware 9.2.a.2.5.. I am wondering how they update it 'cause when i connect my phone to Pc and run the PC Companion, i check the update and it says my phone/tablet is up to date, but the android version of my phone was still 4.1.2 and the firmware version is 9.1.a.1.140.. I don't understand what is the problem of my phone or at my PC Companion Software. I tried also connecting my phone to internet and check for update and still it says my system is up to date. My main concern why i wanted to update my phone, it is because my phone is now dead signal as in no signal (by the way i'm form the Philippines using Smart Communication Network postpaid) I've already switching the network from GSM only and to other choices provided but still no signal. I tried switching my Airplane mode and it displays an airplane icon on the signal area (I think airplane mode is working well, never tried using is). I've read some blogs also that you need to root your phone and flash the firmware and so on to update the android version, but i think its just changing the room, not really updating the system. I don't want to do that 'cause my phone might turn into bootloap 'cause i don't have much knowledge on doing that. I've read also some blogs stating that there is a bug or network issue on version 4.1.2. So i am looking forward from anybody here in the forum who can help or teach me what to do to update my android and firmware version.
I am not sure of it useful to 'upgrade" the phone to solve a problem - this problem of yours. If I were you I'd use the repair my phone option in PC-Companion first, and then see what happens with the phone signal.
You can simly flash any ftf file for your phone with flashtool. Not the sony one. You don't need root access for it
#Mr. Peter-K I've tried it already just a minute ago and still no use. Related to the blogs that i have read regarding on the 4.1.2 version network bug. there problem has been solve after updating the version of there android.

Look at this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2648320
Download 9.2.A.2.5 unbranded coming from Singapore or HongKong (since you're from Asia) and follow the instructions to flash.
Good luck

You can jump straight to 9.2.A.2.5
It's important that you wipe all your data... and Flashtool will do it for you automatically if you don't change anything just before flashing

I actually don't know how sim-unlocking works.
Have you ever asked to your network? Usually they give you a code after having paid a little fine.

They told me that they cannot unlock my phone..they told me go to sony service center. hte problem is that we don't have a service center of sony here..
Back to my thread.still my phone signal is not working. i just found out w while ago that if i am in the higher place like 2nd floor of the building, i got a 2g network and my phone signal is working. but if i'm already at the ground floor the signal is not working. is it ok if i am going to do open line on my so that it will receive any type of network or is it really the software problem of my phone causing the signal not working??
I just got brand new Xperia X Performance that came with 6.0.1, and I'm trying to figure out why I can update it. It's unlocked but not rooted, basically right from the factory as far as I know.
When I go into Software Update in the phone's settings, it says "Your device already has the latest available system updates."
When I use the Sony app on my PC it says my system software is up to date.
I actually can't find anything about this issue, anybody here have any ideas?
Thanks!
try downloading and running xperifirm, find out if your region has the update at all, you should be able to update atleast to 7 anyway
There are a few variants that are considered as internal units or something like that and they don't get OTA updates, also HK units were stuck on 7 for some reason last time I checked. Mine is a french model, and yesterday I received the april security patches while the global variant got it two months ago

Thanks for the reply.
Here's a screenshot of Xperiafirm. https://ibb.co/dUCN3T
I'm in Canada, though I'm on Freedom Mobile, not Rogers or Bell. I don't think my carrier ever sold this phone, and I'm not sure what would happen if I flashed 8.0 made for Bell or Rogers phones.
Ideally I'd like 7.1.1 Canadian generic for Xperia X Performance, but I can't seem to find that anywhere.
I've also never done this so I don't really know what I'm doing, and don't want to void my warranty!
Thanks for you help!!
Good the ROMs that you see for Canada are all latest 8.0 with May security patches and maybe your phone is one of these and the updates just got stucked for some reason.
First you have to check what kind of model you have to check this, to do so you should open the dialler and type
*#*#7378423#*#*
From the service menu you should select -> Service Info -> Software Info and look for Customization Version:
As I said mine is a french model so it states 1302-9342_R2E your should be something different but only the first 8 numbers matter
then look this number in Xperifirm if yours is everything different from Internal Unit (second column from the screenshot) then there is a easy way to try and update without loosing your warranty
First there is always a risk! But I have done this a few times for my Xperia U and Xperia M5 and had no problems at all.
Do a backup - contacts...everything you need as it will delete them
charge the phone to at least 80%
then you should go to the Xperia Companion and do a software repair, not update but repair
It should install the latest version for your phone but it shows the version it installed only when it's finished...
Even if it has not installed the latest update then just connect the phone to your wifi/LTE and try the OTA updates again (could take up to an hour)
This is the safest way that will not void your warranty in any way but will delete your info (contacts, pics..etc. ) so do a backup prior
And if possible use a laptop with a working battery as even a 1 second glitch in the grid could cause the phone to get bricked
And if your phone is imported from China and the customization number is considered as an Internal Unit the only way you could get 7.0 or 8.0 is by flashing and another ftf file as the ones for Bell Canada or Rogers, there are actually some ROMs uploaded in XperiaBlog
there could be some in XDA but I have not search for any

Thanks so much for the reply...I discovered the version of Android installed on my phone is a version meant for Journalists/Reviewers/Commercial use, and can not be updated. I just got a refund for the 3-year warranty portion of my purchase after pointing this out to them. So after the 90 day warranty that came with it runs out, I'll be able to do anything I feel like with this device.
I'll be looking for a safe way to install 7.1.1 hopefully, and if not then 8.0. There seem to be less issues with 7.1.1, but there's really only one way to find out: when I start using it.
I'll definitely need a point in the right direction when it comes to that though. I understand Sony has an official flashing tool, and you have to unlock the bootloader (which is supported on my phone even with this version). But I haven't done it before and don't know how.
