Hey since I flashed to HC. It seems 1: Only get a 3G icon. Also the signal almost sucks. and 2: The market, used to let me bill my TMO account. It still works fine on my G1, but not on my tablet anymore. Was wondering if anyone else noticed this issue too.
Is there a radio rom we need now that works better for HC? Also anyone else get that billing option left out? (Can use visa tho on tablet)
The HC roms might simply not have the H icon enabled, it's an option in the build.prop, I'm not sure why you're getting worse signal, the bb wasnt updated in the US 4G models, if it's really worse it might be a rom issue and not a bb issue.
Have you tried using the non-tablet market? The tablet market is missing some stuff, it could be something missing in the tab market
Tablet market? Im just using the regular Android Market, just the bill tmo option isnt there. Have to use a diff phone if I wanna bill my account then just download on the tablet, lil bit odd.
So question, is H and 4G icon the same thing? I know some phones I had used H, the DS7 was the 1st to use a 4G icon. Is there any way to test which band I am really using for the network speed?
The one included in the stock HC rom is the tablet market, it's slightly different from the normal market, you can sideload the normal one and have 2 markets.
This is the tablet one, the normal one is usually pre-installed, but apparently not in HC anymore, at least on the s7.
Seems I am already using that one with Honeystreak R8. So no clue whats up.
Anyone know how to tell if your device thinks its in EU region vs US Region? I think that maybe my issue as HS by default installs EU region.

I know they use the same frequencies as Telus so all my data should work and I will get all the bug fixes from the Thai firmware, but before I do it I just wanted to know if I am going to have any localization problems like:
default language from using the firmware.
Any hard coded info like servers (I read a tutorial once about using a unlocked MIlestone on Bell and having to root it to get assisted gps working by changing the server info 3 times in different files) so that is a example of info I would like to know before hand. Or does that info along with APNs get saved in a area the service does not touch.
I assume my apps will be fine since I am using a service version.
I have the 2.36 Thai version running on mine, while still running on Telus. I haven't modded the location file yet, and the GPS works just fine Language is still in English.
Good to know about the language. I know GPS would still work since the servers I was talking about are just for the assisted part I think speeding it up when finding you.
Did you have to manually set any APN settings after flashing the Thai version.
Has this happened to anyone?
I did the upgrade then shortly after I got a notification that I lost data connectivity due to data roaming. Which I wasn't. I had to reboot to get data working again.
It kept happening until I gave up and decided I would rather have random music playing then having to reboot or go in and out of airplane mode everytime I wanted to go online.
It would be interesting to know why this is happening though. I am in a big city and it was happening at work and home.
Does the Thai firmware have some sort of advantage to other firmwares?
@ shadowofdarkness: You could have just turned on the data roaming. Though the phone may think it's roaming, your carrier won't.
@ bemymonkey: I find it quicker just in general, but that may just be me. I found when I was using the Telus release it felt very bogged down and laggy. I ran some tests with a buddy of mine (he running stock Telus, me running stock Thai) and it showed that mine was running about 1/5th faster on most tasks.
At the time the Thai version had bug fixes I wanted but since then GOT released a new Telus version with the same fixes.
Interesting... if I get bored I might try it
So I've been messing around with more roms lately trying to find one that has all the features I like and that are easy to use. I am on the latest clockwork recovery through rom manager. I was on the korean radio 5.08? and flashed around with superhybrid, miui bundle, desire hd, rodriguez miui. and an oc-kernel for 1152mhz? something like that.
My phone just won't connect to the data connection no more, on any of the rom. i tried changing my APN to a couple. I tried switching back to my usual rom, I tried upgrading to the radio to the latest korean radio of 5.12. I was able to get edge connection for a brief moment, but it barely works. When I say brief i mean like 2 minutes then there goes my edge connection....
I'm hoping this is network side in this general area only, but is there a possible problem on my phone? any solution if it is?
I would try it out at different part of town that you usually get 3G.
If it's like that all the times everywhere than it might be the phone but I doubt it.
I had the same problems for about 2 weeks here at work (everywhere else it work fine). Tmobile must have fixed the tower cause it's working fine now at work also.
Hi, so with latest nightlies of CM7, After a fresh install, PACMAN tried to install google apps, and it just failed to install GMAIL, CHROME TO PHONE, and others, wondering why, I went to te web market and found that it says that those apps are "not available for your carrier", and today the problem got worse, not even angry birds would install!!, needless to say, I used to be able to install them on my phone whe i had CM6, so, any of you has/had the same problem, any solutions? my current workaround is to use market enabler, but I don't think it should be that way!
BTW, my carrier is TIGO Colombia and I've recently changed my sim card due to my network speeds not being 3G, now I got 3G speeds, but my market is borked, so i don't have any idea if this is new sim's fault or CM7, any light would be apreciated.
Bump bump bump
Try "Market enabler" and chose Tmobile as your carrier.
You can get it from Market
I've already done it, and as I say in the OP, I'm looking for a FIX, not a workaround, anyway thx for your answer
Colombia isn't listed here.

I currently have 5.12.00.08 radio. According to this page: http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/wiki/Latest_Version it says the radio should be the LATEST VERSION. But doesn't say what version that is. I have CM 7.0.3 and 2.6.38.7-CFS-redstar+ kernel.
My understanding is 5.12 is the latest for anyone, but I don't know if it was ever officially released in USA or just Korea. I couldn't find anything definitive.
I've been seeing performance issues for quite some time with regard to 3G data. Doesn't quite seem usable, very slow and sometimes the little arrows show nothing happening for several seconds before anything starts to move. When standing next to someone with a Verizon phone, it's pretty embarrassing when their data is already loaded and I don't even see my little arrows doing anything yet.
Speedtest has almost always been .25MBs-.45MBs when on 3G. I'm not expecting 100Mb, but it really makes the phone hard to use when 3G is this slow.
I've called Tmobile on a few occasions and they either tell me it's an unsupported device and, basically, go pound sand or that they are always working on upgrading service and I should see better speeds with time.
What else can I do to get better speeds?
If everything is working you shouldn't worry too much.
The Radio that got update with OTA GB is 5.08.00.
I've run 5.12.00 before without a problems. I went ahead and put 5.08.00 on cause that's what is official with GB.

lol did the same thing
i think 5.12 is a specialized radio for certain regions
So chances are you haven't seen me, I'm relatively new to the N1 forums, but not new to hacking/modding (had an Evo 3D before this). I just grabbed this off of Gazelle for a fair price, and supposedly it was fully working.
The N1 had come rooted and running OxygeN1 ROM and everything worked perfectly fine, except for the fact that it doesn't seem to want to find any wifi signals.
Now I'm in the process of selling my Evo 3D, but I haven't sold it yet, and it still connects to wifi (shows I have a valid signal, two bars, etc.), however when I turn wifi on my shiny semi new N1, it supposedly scans, but doesn't pick up the fact that there are any wifi signals around. This is a bit problematic, as the SIM card I bought for it is still being shipped. In other words, when my 3D is gone I'll essentially be without a phone until I can activate it on T-Mobile.
So I suppose the main point of this is, why isn't my N1 connecting to wifi? Any ideas? (router is a,b,g,n compatible by the way, so it can't be that it only fires off "n" signals)
Or perhaps a method to revert it back to 100% stock to see if it works on that?

Have you tried to flash a different ROM or reboot your router? Or tried the WifiFix app?
I've tried the router one, I have not yet flashed another ROM (I'd like to learn a bit more about the device first) although I have done a factory reset.
I have not however, tried the wifix app... I'll have to try that.
EDIT: I tried Wifi Fixer, but it still wouldn't connect.
EDIT2: Just tried this ROM, and it still won't connect. Any other ideas?
