Hello, my cappy is running the latest Nightly build of CM7, and I just installed Glitch Kernel V12. I noticed however, that I have no way of accessing the ClockworkMod recovery menu upon startup with the 3 button combo. I can't remember if I could access it before installing the kernel, but now I am concerned since I can't reach it without fully booting the phone and then going into recovery. This could be bad if my phone got stuck in a bootloop, so what do I need to do to ensure access to recovery menu?
Go into download mode and flash GB bootloaders. My guess is that you won't be able to get to download and you will need a jig.

hey all,
i have an i9000 that when i reboot to recovery, it ALWAYS goes back to recovery 3e which is a pain. I have to use odin to flash to another kernel temporarily to get 2e back to install a simple update, which then turns into a big complete reset flash when it shouldn't. Anyone know why this happens? I am have attempted with docrom ROMs with both voodoo and speedmod kernels which both include clockwork, but reboot to recovery just goes to 3e again instead of clockwork. do i nede to repartition (using odin and perhaps a PIT) or is this irrelevant and something else is up. My friend has the same phone and never had this problem.
Using Docrom JPJ with speedmod kernel and froyo 2.2.1 atm.
anyone help?
did you find any solutions?
I noticed this with my speed mod kernel.
I found that if you pressed the button combo to go into recovery, let the phone first boot, let all the buttons off and press them again and so on until it boots into cwm recovery.
Worth a try!
Do this when in recorvery:
Install update.zip iy should be on the second slot. If not go to the market and install rom manager. Then there should be a option down the menu that says flash clockwork mod. Do that, boot into recorvery and install update.zip. U may need to install yhe update a few times. Then you should have clockworkmod

So I had my O2x running a custom 2.3 rom fine with custom kernel for the past month and I noticed a kernel upgrade.
I installed this kernel through CWM and when the phone booted the home screen (I was on ADW launcher) a lot of things crashed (spritebackup, app_unveil or something,...).
Right now I can connect with a computer, but I have no homescreen, I can still access my SDcard and internel memory.
I tried to reboot it back into CWM to install the regular kernel again, but CWM is gone and I get the system/upgrade screen.
I also can't connect to the phone with ADB (means I cant install CWM).
Any tips?
Tried to flash stock rom?

Hold your powerkey pressed a litte bit longer (release it when the second LG logo appears) and it should boot into recovery.
In recovery, wipe cache and reinstall ROM and kernel

First thing I did yesterday was flash latest baseband (0725), the phone rebooted fine, it seems to be a mix of that custom rom I had and standard android...
Going to have to flash CWM again and custom rom after.
I'll update as it progresses!
Hello all,
[DEV][RC2]ICSSGS Source [Android 4.0.3]
I have tried to flash my phone with the ICS....I made a mistake at the starting...instead of wiping out the data I have tried to flash it directly and i got blank screen showed up.....
Then, I have downloaded oneclikc ODIN and flashed it with speedmode kernel.....and able to start recovery mode...but I am not able to flash ICS from my SD(external card) and I have tried to reboot the phone and it got stuck on reboot screen......
But I am able to got to recovery mode using KEY combination and download mode using key combination and USB cable.......
I really need a way to fix this.....
Please tell me how to at least get access to external SD card from recovery screen....
Thank you......
Flash a kernel with CWM 5.x. It has the option to install zips from the external SD. Most roms now require CWM 3.x or newer to flash. I believe Speedmod uses 2.x. If your recovery menu is green, you need a newer recovery and thus, a newer kernel, to flash.

By any chance have a update.zip in your sdcard?
no I don't think so.....i tried to do it couple of times...... but it said that there is no such file
Seems you just might have flashed a very old stock rom. I recommend just flashing stock KH3 w/ boogs kernel. That's always worked wonderfully for me.
I was recently using Stunner ICS but decided I wanted to go back to stock and start over. I downloaded the stock N7000XXKJ4_N7000OXXKJ4 firmware and installed it through odin. I did not receive any errors on the phone or on my PC. But now it seems like my phone is stuck in a boot loop. It just keeps showing the samsung boot animation over and over. I used the download jig to get into download mode and tried redoing the firmware twice already with no luck. One thing I did notice is that the jig is no longer resetting the binary counter. Does anyone have any other ideas or is my phone possibly bricked?
This is supposed to be in Q& A section... Anyways... Did you try wipe?

What worked for me having the same problem recently is go to Recovery mode (Volume up + home + power) and you'll see this funny kinda recovery, not at all CWM Do a data wipe/factory reset and then reboot.
Same thing happened with me yesterday, wipe in recovery fixed the problem

I'm sorry. Mods please move to appropirate section.
Thank you guys. I was beginning to freak out. I was trying to do the recovery menu but couldn't get it to work. I thought the recovery menu was also hosed but I had the wrong buttons. All is good now! thank you so much!
First thing you need to do if you want to get back GB, flash abyss 3.9 redpill kernel.
After that flash GB rom.
So later you can flash whatever kernel you want

Hanging at Samsung logo; can't boot into recovery; am I bricked???
Hi guys...
I've been semi bricked for about 18 hours now. And it's starting to look like it's a full-brick.
I had the latest Gingerbread ROCKET ROM on my Samsung Galaxy Note GT-N7000, with the latest Franco kernel in place.
I thought I'd give the ICS version of ROCKET ROM a go. Flashed Abyss4.2 kernel without any hassles. Used 'advanced' to boot into recovery. Did my various wipes. Flashed the ICS Rocket Rom zip. And got caught up in the recurring boot-up, mostly upgrade, run, reboot cycle that's been described in many places.
Didn't panic.
Booted into recovery again, and flashed the ICS Rocket Rom again.
But this time, it wouldn't go past the SAMSUNG logo.
Still, I could boot into recovery.
Which I did.
And I tried to restore my Gingerbread build from Nandroid.
Tried it. But it hung on the Samsung logo again.
With one key difference... Now, no matter how much I try, I can't boot into recovery.
I *CAN* boot into 'download' mode. So I've used PC Odin to try and inject a rooted Gingerbread rom into the phone.
The instructions tell me to wait for the phone to reboot twice. Sadly, it tries its first reboot, and doesn't get past the Samsung logo. And that's where it hangs. No recovery mode either.
What shall I do??? Oh, woe is me. Etcetera.

UPDATE
--------------------------------------------------------
I found a version of Abyss 4.2 kernel in tar format. I flashed it via PC ODIN, and I now seem to have a phone that can boot again.
Not much more to report at the moment, cos the battery is on about 3%, so I'm charging it now before delving further. Will give more feedback once the battery's up and running again.
Here's a link to the Abyss file: http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=1072122&d=1337500067
I tried all of this, was on stock ICS 4.0.3 and had it rooted.
I tried to restore a backup which was sadly on GB and then the restore of /data failed
I then tried to flash paranoid custom rom and it was successful but the phone never went any further than SAMSUNG GALAXY NOTE GT-N7000 logo
I then Flashed a direct rootable stock rom via PC odin and all was well but the phone would never go any further than the logo before mentioned
I tried flashing AbyssNote kernel via pc odin but the CWM recovery menu kept on rebooting hence leaving me with not particular choice to select
Tried wiping data, cache mem, dalvik cache but no use and now i am on stock recovery menu. please help me out
i have this Samsung i9220 china i try to flash upgrade the firmware with Odin3 v1.85 . i got stock phone can't power non recover modem non booting logo , does anyone have any ideas ?
May need a little help .
I was on CM7 RC1 and was trying to flash ICS SimplyAOKP ROM.
Did wipe/factory reset and then install zip in CWM.
The phone booted up and now stuck on DevilKernel logo screen. (the AT&T screen was briefly displayed first)
Now I can't boot into CWM anymore.
How do I get out of this ?
You are doing the correct button combination, correct? If it doesn't work, you might as well go to download mode and start over.
