Has anyone noticed from the HTC Inspire's UI is much smoother, quicker than the HTC Vivid? On the HTC Inspire I have also noticed the browser does not lag. The stock browser found on the HTC Vivid is quite laggy and quite choppy. What are ways to improve the performance on the Vivid?
The Inspire originally came with Sense 2.0, which is A LOT less resource intensive, likely the reason why it's smoother. The new Sense 3.0 that was later released for the Inspire (in its stock form, not custom optimized versions) for me is no smoother than the Vivid, I actually think the Vivid is does a better job. I have also found the Vivid to be smoother on the browser end as well.

I honestly find it to be the exact opposite for me. This is by far the best phone that I have used straight out of the box.
Not much you can do to improve performance until the boot-loader is unlocked. You can uninstall all of the AT&T crap that you are able to. I was able to remove it all except for the AT&T Navigator. That will make sure none of it is running in the background using up your memory.
I think the stuff about carrier software slowing down the phone is a myth. Those apps don't do crap, so if a phone lags, it is not because of them. Yes I hate them but uninstalling those apps doesn't speed up your phone, there are many other reasons to uninstall those apps. I honestly don't know why this phone was released with sense 3.0 and android 2.3.4 when all the new phones coming out have sense 3.5. At&t has enough android phones now but they still don't care about them as much as they should.
The only thing I miss from my Inspire is free mobile hotspot..... I would really like to get that working on LTE
This phone is totally rad...slaps all over my inspire and infuse. The stock experience is leaps ahead of any phone I have ever owned. Of course rooting, overclocking, and tweaks bring other phones up to speed. But as far as a stock experience goes viva the vivid. Take yours back and get a new one if it has lag.

Sense 3.5 isn't a Verizon exclusive, tmo has the amaze which also runs it and I believe the sensation xl had it also but not sure if that phone will release here or not.
Overall the only changes I'd make to the vivid is unlocking the bl and I would have made it a little lighter.

Hi,
I just got the HTC INCREDIBLE S after selling my desire DHD
The phone is awesome, I find that there is some LAG, so I decided to run a quadrant benchmark test and it only came up with a score of 1560 compared to my DHD which was 2000+ every time.
The specs seem to be exactly the same except for the new processor
I believe it may be a slower one, though it is the latest one.
Any ideas people why this phone is slower and lagging??
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DOF2T1Whm9Y
Video shows quadrant test.
enable usb debugging...battery will last longer too.
see specs on wikipedia, DHD is most powerfull, processor is better

They use identical SOC (MSM8255) and have the same RAM so I don't knwo what you are talking about. In fact, Wikipedia doesn't even have a page about the Incredible S.
oops, my bad
Do you think sense UI could be the issue?.I notice that a lot of devices that natively run sense run a lot slower than those that dont... Imagine what a cyanogen Rom will do to the incredible s, well be saying HTC desire hd Who? Jk . ... I can't wait for root lol

I have to totally disagree, I had a hero for nearly two years, rooted it very early on and started putting custom roms on it... when I came to sell it, I put it back to stock and it was a smooth as butter. CM always had some problems, lockups, occasional lag... stock rom just worked. I;m not saying there aren't improvements to be made, but I am purely sticking to modded stock roms from here on out
This phone is awesome but as many will agree the ICS update has many flaws. And I do not feel it is right to leave the HTC vivid in this condition. Here's why:
1) ICS has been officially updated since our 4.3 release, fixing many bugs.
2) Many games as well as other things lag a great deal and being this a high end device we should not be experiencing lag on games like gun bros, MC3 among many other games where rapid fire guns lag the device to were the game becomes unplayable.
3) All of the other bugs mentioned on other threads.
Yes I am happy we got ICS but it was a quick patched release, and the phone deserves a better more complete Rom release for those that don't root.
Please sign this petition stating any issues you are expreicing with ICS sandwhich for the HTC Vivid, so I can then send it over to A&TT and HTC tech department. Because if nothing is said the phone will be left in its current condition.

1. One I attach exchange to the phone I can no longer install APK files, rendering humble bundles or app development ruined for me
2. Graphics are lousy for how much hardware is inside this handset, I suspect the drivers are to blame.
Now that the HTC One devices are out, I don't think that they will care, they have already moved on from the vivid.
Thankfully we have XDA
I haven't had any problems with lag. My phone is actually pretty fast thanks to WCX Rom. I haven't gotten into a lot of games, but my GTA III would slightly lag when I was on GB. Now that my phone is on ICS I can play the game with all the settings up without any lag. I might understand if you're not rooted and well, that would actually be more helpful than waiting for a petition to be approved. That is if it ever does..
I'd like to see the voice dialer replaced, the wifi bug gone, an lte toggle, crt and overscroll animations, and the sense 4 launcher. I doubt we'll ever see that from at&t or HTC but hopefully a developer on here can make that happen.

I can't root or anything because all of the methods here require a computer which I don't have. I'm sorry but I'm really pissed because I'm on stock ics and a lot of my payed apps now lag as well as free ones. My wife's pantect burst puts my phone to shame with no lags ever. On stock my phone is crap.

Getting a new one in the mail and I'm not upgrading it until it gets fixed. Gingerbread is a more stable all around release. Just noticed as well HTC custom swype is not on ICS. Since ill have both versions ill post a review of both.
Sent from my HTC PH39100 using Tapatalk 2
All I can say is gingerbread is better in so many ways. Here's my list:
1. Battery is 50% better meaning I get twice as many hours on one charge.
2. Keybroad vibration doesn't glitch out. Meaning it vibrates on every keystroke.
3.All menus are the same color, green making the phone look better.
4.Apps load and respond a lot faster.
5. I have way more ram available almost a half a gig free
6. I have a lot more system settings available.
7. Sense is better, like the news app has a lot more options.
My list can go on, the only cons are the new features ICS has but I can use third party apps for some. ICS is slower and HTC released a poor update, I over the "i got ICS hype". It sucks, I have both systems side by side and tested them all day long. Sony was right gingerbread wins hands down. Now I'm happy with my phone.
Sent from my HTC PH39100 using Tapatalk 2
Yeah but the gingerbread launcher blows. You can't customize the dock, folder support is intact but not as refined and your forced to have 7 home screens whether or not you want them or not. Course you could always just use adw
Sent from my HTC PH39100 using XDA
I love that my phone never reboots or force closes apps, however my infuse 4g was faster in terms of touch response and battery life. Sometimes I feel like ics on the.vivid is a little slow
Sent from my HTC PH39100 using XDA
ICS was fast as hell when I first upgraded now it's gotten noticeably more laggy which is a bit odd. Maybe not laggy so much just losses smoothness at times.

i love my vivid i have 2 one as a backup and 1 for personal use i would recommend getting the black one phone is great, i would highly recommend unlocking the bootloader and using Holic's rom Have fun with your vivid!
if I had the opportunity to swap this phone for another, I would, but I don't know what handset I would go for, ultimately this device has everything I want out of a device, physically I hate the battery cover as I am constantly pulling it off whilst getting the phone out of my pocket, and it slips up infront of the camera lense inside cases all the time.
After this device I'm pretty sure that I am done with HTC, I'll probably look at a samsung offering next time, maybe even the next Nexus.
HTC can really suck at times... It's pretty amazing how apparently the only ones who don't get why they are doing so poorly is them. Whereas I actually do like HTC especially for their build quality and (gasp) sense, they've really pushed me away. The only thing I give them is that the Vivid was the first nonnexus device to receive an ICS update if I remember correctly, but I don't consider that enough.
As soon as my contract is up plus when the next nexus hopefully with LTE comes out, I'm off to non contract devices from now on and switching to t-mobile to lower my family plan monthly bill by $100. Not even my unlimited data plan is enough to keep me on AT&T.

This is the reason that HTC is losing sales because consumers are buying HTC products to find out that firmware support isn't the best. The S2 is older than the Vivid and is still having a new version of Android. So the next time the person wants to buy a phone they most likely will go for sanother manufacter. If HTC wants to makes there sales beter they should start supporting there older devices a bit more.
HTC always abandons their previous devices and focuses on the new ones. I can't help but wonder if the dna and one series phones are going to get a 4.1.2 update with sense 5.
HTC basically keeps trying to reinvent themselves and cuts their losses with their previous failed products. Problem is every time they do this they are loosing customers. Samsung has gotten pretty good with updates, really they always were. Yeah it took me forever to get froyo and gingerbread on my Captivate, but that was mainly because of carrier testing that slowed it down.
