I'm impressed. I've been waiting for two alvulms to show up on Zune and one isn't even on iTunes but they have it. I'm sold.
When will the updated Android Market get pushed out.

Make an account using a proxy, after that you can just use google music freely. Anyone can share the new google music apk? I heard it's already available on the market but since we are from Europe it doesn't show up for us.
probably in about 2 years
Not sure on that one. I'm really liking where Google is going with their ecosystem. I didn't expect their store to have this many albums I needed (still looking and buying ) since I don't have mainstream musical tastes. I guess I'm gonna be upgrading to another android phone soon.

Do you still have to upload ur music via music manager? Or does the music manager simply compare your songs to those in its server and comprise your Google music collection based on the songs that match its database? Waiting days to upload thousands of songs just doesn't cut it.

Google would have been much better served to come out with something more along the lines of iTunes, a program you install on your computer and tell it what folder to watch for your music and a few minutes later, there is your 10k song library! Not to mention the stupid music manager issues. The very first time I installed Google Music to my computer I got some stupid "can only use 3 accounts on this machine" error and I couldn't upload my music until I found a workaround.....change the Mac address of my ethernet card. That's pretty weak. I think Google missed the boat with this one.
how fast does the streaming work on verizon's 3g? any hiccups in loading?
Overall, it's a great service. But Google made some mistakes,
1) No matching service.
2) Should have gone at least 25k songs to match iTunes match.
3) Not available outside the U.S.
4) Can't buy songs from your phone... yet.
The sharing and independent artists features are impressive though. And best feature of all.. IT'S FREE.
So now that this is released does anybody know if they will ever have an easy sync like iPhone and iTunes for our Android phones?
Songs you purchase from google don't count towards the 20k song limit. So, that really isn't much of an issue, IMO.
I love how they do carrier billing for tmobile, too. Guess it will come to other carriers soon.

1) a one-time issue when first uploading and only IF you own a lot of music. Just leave PC on overnight once and you're good.
2) iTunes cloud isn't free and then it still eats up all your local storage.
3) Will be soon. Plus you can use a proxy to get around it.
4) New market is being delivered as we speak. Not an issue, just takes a few days to push the app out to 100million+ users with varying phones and networks.
The sharing, artists, g+, is all awesome.
My only issue is that android app is still a little cumbersome and has an occasional issue with shuffle feature and replaying of same song. lol.

You could use Juice and have it download podcasts into a folder that Audiogalaxy, subsonic, or google music beta is watching and then just listen to them as they download and appear automatically.
Google listen works great for me.

Yeah same here, really like it.
What does Dogcatcher and BeyondPod offer that Google Listen doesn't? I've started listening to podcasts a lot and curious if I should try these other apps.
Question: Any of these allow you to mark for offline listening/watching? Sort of like a..."Download now" button? Rather stream it...
doggcatcher is by far the most feature rich of the apps. i listen to at least 40 weekly podcasts (long commute, lots of driving for work) and I have tried all of the major apps. It even has a honeycomb layout (although that needs polishing). As far as the distinctions, it allows you to set both universal and podcast specific settings as far as autodownloads, listing, delete policies, etc. Its podcast search features are also outstanding. Another feature I use its backup and import/export abilities which means I can keep my settings between rom flashes, devices, etc... I could go on...
I encourage the other poster who said he was building his own (something I did a while back, but abandoned) to keep pushing the improvement. Things that would be cool are cloudsync (just track progress, read/unread, etc), better tablet layout, and better widgets.
but simple answer to OP: doggcatcher

With Google made apps (market, gmail, maybe more... ) you can uninstall updates if something goes wrong as opposed to having to uninstall and find the old apk

New Android Market!
I saw a new market app on the new Samsung Galaxy Tablet 10.1" yesterday and when I got home my market app asked me to agree to market terms and boom, I had the same market on my phone! I'd assume that this is the market you all are talking about. I would guess everyone will be getting it, it was even pushed to my Droid 1 that's just on WiFi at the moment. Thought it was pretty cool.
Just got the update yesterday....great update.
Movie Rentals eh?
So it looks like Google is launching their new movie rental service with this market update. I don't think I'll use it because I have Netflix, but has anyone tried that feature yet?
I watched "The Switch" with my girlfriend through google movies. It went really well, was cheaper than a lot of places, and it was basically a Youtube video. It had the typical controls and quality selection of youtube, and the picture quality was good. It was quiet, but many video services are, and that may be because of my computer. Overall, 4/5. Could have had better sound, but the quality was really good. Now just wondering if you can download those movies like you can normal youtube clips. Oh, and it doesn't play on rooted devices.

Thanks for the replies. Unfortunately I don't think Cloud functionality is available to us here in the UK without trying to fool Google into thinking we're in the US.

Or give Amazon's MP3 cloud matching service a go, I went down that route (got fed up of waiting for google) and it works pretty well although does cost £20 a year.

I know this isn't really N7 related, but i noticed it more today when i received my N7. Google music STILL isn't available for UK users. It's been public in the US for nearly a year now. Google need to step up their game. Really disappointing. Sorry for ranting but pretty pathetic it's taken them this long and they still aren't any closer to making it available to people outside the US.

Apple worked on it for years before managing to strong arm the studios. It will happen, but right now the mindset must be "well, we have our stuff on iTunes. Don't all them young folk have iPhones?"
And yes, all music executives are out of touch elderly men who don't know that not all touchscreen phones are iPhones.
Not only music, we can't buy films either, only rent.
With the Nexus 7 being so Play oriented I would have hoped they would have struck some kind of deal by now.
Hey
Its not hard to do, just use something like hotspot shield, sign up, then once its done, you wont have to do it again, it'll work. I did it when it first came out and its been working ever since.
It is a shame though, you guys in the US have a lot more

As the others have said, use a VPN to sign up. That is the only time (except for if you try to purchase muzak) that Google checks your geo-location. After that you can start uploading your music and playing it with the app on your 7.

I think its probably the bpi blocking them. They are not happy that google isn't more proactive at removing what they consider copyright infringing sites from their search listings. Maybe googles new policy to move sites down the search rankings will mollify them.

You just need to use it on a pc long enough to go to music.google.com and register. Then you no longer need a proxy unless you want ti try and buy music, buying music though needs a us payment card.

I gave up on Google Music when I realized just how terrible my DSL upload speed is. I didn't really care to have to wait days upon days for my music to upload to Google, so I just rsync'd it to my server right here on my gigabit LAN and fired up Subsonic. Once I donated a few bucks to unlock the premium mobile streaming license, I was golden.
Note: DDNS would be a severe +1 in this scenario. I already had it set up, so I could point to my specific URL instead of my IP which Verizon changes every other day anyway.

There are hundreds of threads about the new Nexus devices today, but what caught my eye more than anything is this;
On November 13, we're bringing music on Google Play to Europe. Those of you in the U.K, France, Germany, Italy and Spain will be able to purchase music from the Google Play store and add up to 20,000 songs—for free—from your existing collection to the cloud for streaming to your Android devices or web browser. We’re also launching our new matching feature to streamline the process of uploading your personal music to Google Play.

We Europeans also get a neat feature those in the US don't have (Yet);
We’ll scan your music collection and any song we match against the Google Play catalog will be automatically added to your online library without needing to upload it, saving you time. This will be available in Europe at launch on November 13 and is coming to the U.S. soon after. This will all be for free

Ya I know. Cause we're all rich too according to prices we pay on cell services. We could definitely give some money for music and help out Google. I just don't understand it to be honest. I am desperately waiting for them to do this. I just can't buy a phone without either a micro SD slot (which Google has clearly no interest in) or at least 32gb onboard for music. Apart fromt he usual phone functions music is the main thing I use my phone for. It would be a massive downgrade for me to go from my Galaxy S with all my music on it to a brand new nexus and hardly enough space for my music. My data allowance per month is only 1.5 gig as well, so streaming might be out of the question even if they do release it here.
Usa ! Usa ! Usa !
I just use MOG here in Australia . Works fine on the Nexus 7 and I can download albums and stream them to a Creative Boombox or plug the Nexus into my car stereo.
I pay about $11a month for it but find it easily worth it. Plus it is quota free on downloads for me so I can stream or download as much as I want.
