Touch Screen sensitivity - LG Revolution

Ever since GB OTA update typing on my phone has become more difficult using any keyboard. Especially in landscape mode the bottom of the screen (or left side if portrait along the edge) I find I usually have to click on the spacebar more than once and also noticed it while playing a game. Is it just me?
sent from my LG Steel BlueVolt

Haven't noticed that. I've noticed it has better scrolling, doesn't have that bouncy annoying random scrolling like it did

I am inclined to agree with drt. I very rarely had to correct swype before, but now some of the words I "spell" are just crazy wrong. If I swype "H-A-V-E" is will say I spelled HABIT. I figured it was just swype being dumb, but honestly, it had never been dumb like this.

I have noticed that using smart keyboard pro, I'm getting the same problems. I have to hit the space many times, or..which is even worse, it will substitute a letter for me. I know I have fat fingers, but not that fat. It would be nice to be able to calibrate the touchscreen.

Portrait I don't have any issues.. seems to just be landscape. I use the AOSP Gingerbread Keyboard from the market but same on Swype and a couple others I installed and didn't like. Really annoying.. at least it isn't only me.

I have the same issues with thumb keyboard so I just changed the size of the space bar row so it'll be easier to hit

I've noticed this with the Beta Swype KB with GingerVolt1.x. The problem wasn't there with the stock as I double checked that last time I re-flashed my phone to Stock GB. I was actually hoping to find a way to "Calibrate" the screen. No luck as of yet.
Anyone know how?

Adjust the settings for Speed VS Accuracy to higher accuracy. I found that helped the crazy misspellings quite a bit.

Phone bogged down by touch input?

Ok.. So I searched a while, and I'm not sure if I was just using the wrong terms, but I couldn't get a result that answered my question.
Anywho.. I'm using Fresh Toast 2.0b2, and I'm having an odd problem when playing games that have touch input.
For example... Whilst playing the game "Radiant" The phone slows down considerably when I use the touch screen to move my ship.. I would say framerates cut almost in half.. but clear up as soon as I lift my thumb from the screen..
Same thing happens in the game "Blow Up" When I tap-hold the bottom of the screen to pick up the bombs to drag to the beams, the phone slows WAAAYY down, but clears up the moment I drop the bomb/lift my finger from the screen..
Could this be a ROM problem? Background App Problem? Just one of the quirks of the Hero?
Any input will be seen as valuable.
Thanks,
~jUgGsY~

FreshToast is buggy right now - hence the DEV rom titleing.
I also have noticed general touch bugyness. Especially slow responses to touch.

Not a ROM problem, Not specific to your device. I feel like its a problem with HTC's multitouch drivers.. Ive noticed the same problem since I got the phone in October. I'm pretty certain when you touch the phone, the Hero is looking for another touch point so it delays the phone.. The HTC Hero doesn't use the same multitouch drivers as other 2.1 devices even on the 2.1 ROMs, Thats why most multitouch programs on the market dont work right for the Hero, and also why I'm jumping to EVO, Hopefully HTC EVO doesn't have the same problem.

That definitely makes sense. Wish I would've known about the EVO previous to my purchase of the Hero..
So I did 2 neocores. One without touching the screen got me 25 dos. Then I touched the screen thru the whole benchmark and got 4.9 dos. Wow that's a big difference!

That should be seen as a deal breaking bug for the Hero.. We should all go to Sprint and DEMAND EVOs.
Unless its not present in the official 2.1, I'm going to do what I can to get an EVO.
yeh its really weird how it works right. .27 and touch input didnt play well. at all. the biggest problem is the sh*t digitizer we have. it only senses x OR y moving AWAY OR TOWARDS eachother. it isnt true multtouch. a good example is to download multitouch paint from the demo market. it will read both fingers fine until one crosses the x or y axis in opposite directions.
but anyways back to when you touch, i think toasts source is amazing for the .29 but once htc releases the real .29 source he will really work his magic. .29 fixed alottt of the issues with stuff like music and touch having their own "processes". in .27 they were all bunched together and that made ultra lags while using bt and messing with phone.
This is fixed in Fresh Toast 2.1Final.
I love those two guys.

Tap in the three xda letters; then, on the far left end of the suggestions, you should see xda itself; tap it. Once done, the bar should change to asking you if you want to add that word to the dictionary - tap that and it gets added.
Thank you.

That one raised by blood pressure more than a few points before I finally figured it out as well...
Also, if you go into Settings>Language & keyboards>Swype settings>Word suggestion and uncheck Auto-correction, it won't use the word it thinks you want in lieu of the word you typed when you hit the space key (which drove me crazy until I changed that setting).

I'm not seeing any lag with a non-overclocked NC.
Heck, it works beautifully on my Nook Color (7.0.2) and my HeroC
I was having constant lockups running CM7. I started uninstalling apps that were running services. When I uninstalled Swype, the lockups mostly stopped. I don't know if this was a coincidence. Anyone else experience lockups with Swype on CM7?
No lockups here and +1 for being super happy to have Swype on the NC. I had experimented enough to be able to hook up a usb keyboard and it worked, but it was a bit awkward using it. So I was looking for a small BT keyboard and then Swype sent me THE email. Very pleased and finally feel like my NC is all that it needs to be for my uses.
I feel very stupid, but where in the heck can I down load swype??? I go to the link but don't see a DL.
Thanks for your help

Swiftkey X Backspace

When I hold down backspace it does nothing. It doesn't delete multiple letters or words. Just deletes one letter then sits.
Any ideas?

I've had the same problem, except mine will sometimes repeat a word over and over again when pressing backspace. Wish I knew wtf was going on.

I'm LOVING SwiftKey X so far except this backspace issue. Deleting one letter at a time is getting really annoying.
When it does it to me it won't even delete anything. It's weird. It's the only thing I have found wrong with it. Have to discard messages and start over when it does it.

You guys know about the swyping feature, right...? Swipe across the keyboard from right to left... watch what happens.

I had this problem when I first started using it. After reading through help, I figured out that we need to swipe from right to left to delete a word.....
Geez, I feel dumb. Wish I would have known. So frustrating. The backspace should be the same as every other keyboard. Oh well. Thanks!
Sent with my fingers on a phone.
There are multiple issues with Swiftkey X on multiple devices and in multiple applications. This does not only concern the backspace key but also the space bar under certain conditions, hence the swipe-to-delete solution is only a partial one.
Just do a search on Google, like these
http://www.google.com/search?q=swiftkey+backspace
http://www.google.com/search?q=swiftkey+space+bar+bug
and you'll find a plethora of annoyed users who deem Swiftkey unusable on their systems.
After finding out about the swipe to delete, I've never had any other problems. It is scary how good the predictions are sometimes.

Have you guys tried touchpal beta kb? It combines the best features from swipe and swiftkey to achieve a pretty sweet kb. For me its the best kb I've used on an android device and its only in beta. You can apply for beta testing from this thread:

If it only would work better on the SGS2 and the Xoom .

[Q] [POLL] Is anyone having touchscreen issues with their O2X's?

Sometimes when I'm tapping certain icons at certain times I will have to tap twice becuase the first time it didn't recognize my tap. Sometimes even multiple times. But other times my phone will run as smooth as butter. Hardware or software issue?
Same issues ...
I have the same issues.
This issue occurs often after I unlock my Phone and also during use.
In my opinion that's not acceptable!
How did you act?
Did you send it in?
Pet hate: "Smooth as butter" ARGGHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!
And relax.
Yes, sometimes it doesn't recognise it. Even sometimes it will actually highlight the icon, so it's recognised I've pressed, but then done nothing with the action.
I would say software issue.

I returned my phone because it was driving me insane.. but yes it's probably a software issue. I bought a Nexus S from google, and it's better, but sometimes it still happens on my NS, however much less often then on my O2X. But i would say just try using a different kernel or rom. CM7 still had the touchscreen issue. So that's why I kind of gave up on this phone.

Hi, i personally dont think this is a problem with our touch screens, i have it happen to me when unlocking the phone etc, but i think its because we try to tap an icon to quickly before we give the phone chance to fully unlock, i've noticed if i wait just a second or 2 after unlocking it doesnt happen, i think its lack of ram in the o2x, it not quite fast enough for our speedy fingers, lol.

Edit: Works fine on Nottatrix 1.3.1. Will test it further over the next few days, but it seems to improve sensitivity of the touch recognition (especially when the screen is a little grimy).
Gonna test this and see how it works I'm on jokers CM9
EDIT: seems to be working in some areas and others not, but it helps with the keyboard on jokers a little

With the touch patch stable v1.
It makes the screen really snappy, but sometimes that's limiting. Without a very steady finger it's next to impossible to produce an absolute precise touch

Does this mod genuinely make a difference or is it placebo effect?
And how does the fast one differ from the normal one in terms of touch sensitivity?
Lastly, does this mod work with CM9 and improve the dodgy touch sensitivity?
Sorry if this post sounds negative, I don't intend it that way. I've said it before, but AndroidON always makes really cool mods and this isn't an exception. So big props once again
Who said this didn't work with Neutrino? Mines working perfectly... but could it be because I installed the patch via ADB?
Anyways, my first impression is that scrolling certainly feels smoother and more 'iphone-y' - which is a good thing
It seems to act more sensitive also and swipes seem to register faster and more accurately. This really shows when you play 'Temple Run,' I actually died the first few rounds being so used to the original 'non-sensitive' touchscreen but after that, it certainly felt more snappy.
However, I did find a few niggles which are kinda hard to explain tbh. But strangely, after a reboot, it seemed to have fixed itself, which is odd but great nonetheless. I'm not fully convinced that these issues are fixed but I'll report back, but I'm sure it will be fixed in V2.
I also tried the fast version, but it was kinda weird. Especially the notification tray, it pulls down and pulls up really fast and it looks a bit weird. Also, touch responses also seemed slightly fishy. So I also recommend the stable one.
Look's like this mod may be cooked it V2.8 Neutrino - if the OP doesn't mind?

Yep, that was the problem I also experienced but couldn't really explain. When you hold anything down, it spazzes up. Like try to select a a letter in a word and 'hold' your finger there, the arrow thingy will just keep 'shaking.'
If that makes sense...
That seems to be the only main issue really. I just tried the messaging app and WOW, typing is MUCH faster than before.

I made three more reboots. Plus, I played Dark Legends for about 20 minutes. Now, I made another reboot.
In Multitouch Visualiser, I don't see glitches anymore. Having two touch points on the same axis works very well. When a third/fourth/fifth touch point comes into play, things remain the same though - problematic.
Edit : NOPE. Nevermind that. It still is glitchy, even with two touch points... Just like in the video... So, nothing has improved.
