Is there any hope of getting a flashable stock ROM of the latest VZW Tab update (EI04)? There is only one of such on this forum now (Cubed), which would have been great if only without the heavy themeing. I am sure many are awaiting this and would appreciate it very much. If only the guy who did the cubed version could somehow cook up a stock version... if wishes were horses.
Here here! Stock with root and I am in heaven. The cubed ROMs are, with due respect, kind of annoying with all the customizing that I didn't want and all the weird transitions.
Perhaps if somebody asked me I might, I actually might have that, saved around here somewhere.
Try to keep inmind this is my first Samsung device and things are a lot different, and very new for me.

D, please help us...
Good day D,
There are a sizeable number of people on this forum who flashed the EF01 modem while upgrading from EC02 to EF01, and cannot update to EI04. If you can cook up a flashable Stock EI04 ROM (if possible, with the EI04 modem) we would be mighty grateful, me particularly. Please help. Thanks.
I disn't see your post with the link before posting. Thanks all the same. Very grateful.

Sorry I'm a little noobish when it comes to Androids (trying to come over from an iPhone).
I understand rooting. But... Can you tell me advantages/disadvantages of all these ROMS? Do some have the latest radio firwmare and some don't? I thought I read I could also modify these ROMs as well. I would appreciate some insight. Thanks

You can do anything. If you read the forums you will learn a lot more than any 1 person here could ever teach you in one post. Happy reading.
P.s. posts like this are frowned upon around where when you could have searched.
ROMs are just modified versions of the standard firmware the developers that make them bundle certain apps with them and make some slight changes. IIRC they are all rooted.
I think the radio firmware can be updated seperatly as i downloaded the HTC radio directly from the HTC website.
There is a thread here that tries to chart the differences between builds (the name "rom" is kind of a misnomer).
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=517506
Also, for community ("hacked"/"rooted") builds, they generally don't include the radio. You would update the radio and bootloader separately. The official builds tend to include radio and or bootloader updates.

This should help you out with any information on Firmwares, its alot better then a stupid chart.
Just do yourself a favor.. Do not Flash before you read the entire thread. Because you may find your new G1 is a brick.
If you want something or want to upgrade SPL or Recovery or Rom Make sure you competely read the thread you may find that other users that have previously flashed that particular item will give feedback.

that link also links to the same "stupid" chart. btw that chart is great for deciding which build suits your needs the best
I was sorta kindling.....
My thread has all the information and MORE. The chart is helpful but you can't get any helpful links with it. My thread has information/my thoughts/ and updates on how to find the newest firmware.

Hi All,
Please would someone be so kind and explain how to make a rom from a phone using anything would be good, but preferably flashable via odin
What i am asking is how to dump an I9000 rom so that I can flash it via Odin on a I900 once again, not porting just a basic dump.
i'm interrested too
Really dude? Read stickies, search, read up a ton before posting stupidly pointless threads like this. Sorry, but this is a busy forum and people like you asking baseless questions aren't a part of it.
In case you didn't know, porting ROMs from devices is extremely hard. There is progress going on porting HTC Sense from the Desire HD but it's extremely time consuming and difficult even for very experienced devs.

Did you do a search? well there is FA info at all on this topic, and I am not looking at porting a rom, i simply want to dump my rom as is as a image.
dd i guess could work, but how the hell do make it odin friendly?

Which am I, the one asking the baseless questions or the one telling others not to? =P
Dumping a ROM is definitely different than porting from another device, but the way your question stated you wanted to take a dump from another phone (Desire for example) and then magically stick that in Odin and make it work or something. Sorry for misunderstanding.
I take it you want to dump your current ROM and then publish for others to use, like Nandroid backup style? I guess that might be interesting although I'll personally stick to cooked ROMs like Docs that are ready to flash with all optimizations and changes applied at the get-go.

Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day, teach a man to fish and he will eat for life. Cryptic as it may be, but I guess the OP is interested in trying to make a backup.
I know samfirmware has most of the firmwares, but it would be nice to know how to create a flashable rom.
Some of us really would like to know how to do this. Samfirmwares does not have all the roms. They do not have the ntt docomo rom for japan on their site. The phone was just released the 28 October with the official 2.2 froyo rom on it. I would like to walk in the store dump the rom from their demo phone to sd card. Put the rom on my phone. I really want get my sp mode working. I have rom mananger. Does rom manager do rom dumps with the back rom option.
I agree this seems like a good idea, my bad for not understanding the Cyrptic OP lol
I don't think we get nandroid backups right now. I don't think anyone has taken a dump from a running SGS and turned it into a flashable ROM. I just know that Doc, Tatyuma and others have taken Samsung's packages and cooked them into their nice flashable zips.

Post updated, hopefully it makes more scene now
Got a new captivate yesterday. It came from AT&T with 2.2. It is a model number 1101. Build is FROYO.UCKB1. I pulled and deodexed the system/app and framework. I also included the original odexed versions.

Happy Skinning.... or should I say: Cappy Skinning!!!
I'll throw up the rest of the system later.
while this is a good intention and all, UCKB1 has been available for about a month now. nothing new here? cognition is already based on KB1 (and I believe there's another ROM floating around? but I could be misremembering, been a long time since I've been on froyo)...
also, if the intention was for this to be used for themeing, why did it go into development? =S
That other rom is Fusion

Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA App
^^ submitting report for movement
Kaik541: I thought that was simply "KB1". Regardless, this had some silly stuff that the ODIN3 released last month did not and it may be useful to someone.
Moved .
Thanks for reporting

KB1 is UCKB1, all i897ROMs with UC prefix
^^^ Appreciate the good intention anyway...
It's always good to have fellow Cappy owners that want to give a helping hand.
Thank you, very much.
ok, I do have my nice new samsung rooted, but some functionality can only be done via other rom's etc. Rooting my evo and custom rom's etc is not new for me but I don't want to mess up as clockwork backup didn't work so I needed to re-read and understand but the forum has always helped so well, I would continue the tradition.
With that I am looking at this thread;
http://www.addictivetips.com/mobile...-2-3-3-gingerbread-rom-on-samsung-galaxy-tab/
Now the only issue I have is this step (Extract Galaxy Tab root files.zip to find two files named, gt-p1000_mr.pit and dbdata.tar.) as the problem is this is the newer p1010, so will that be a problem? I have yet to make a full backup as I said clockwork doesn't work with this tab, so a little hesitant to just do that.
I don't really care if it's 2.3.3 or better yet overcome, but have yet to find a simple 'how-to' with the p1010 tablet. This is a wireless only device, so no carrier.
My first post helped with some things regarding this device, but things like 'the dev forum can answer' is not an accurate statement at all which is why the post is being put in the 'general Q&A'.
Thanks for all real help and replies!
First of all let give a big shout out to all the developers who are still supporting the note 4..thanks for all your hard work
I'm just wonder ever since we got 6.0.1 there jasnt been much development on stock roms....most ported roms... i'm a noon here..is there a particular reason for this? So I wouldn't mind hAving a modified version of stick thats actually for the T-Mobile note 4. But if anybody out there has some insight please free to share.. thanks
