Hey guys, I've been poking using the Gingerbread leaks lately and was curious if anyone knew of a hacked camera with a power button shutter option. What I've seen so far in search seems to be for froyo and I'm not sure if they've actually updated the camera app in gingerbread or if those would be safe. Any info would be appreciated.

If you are asking for any GB rom with hacked camera, which can be used using power button, than you can try Illuminance rom. I am sure other GB roms in dev section also have this feature but I am using Illimuninance 2.1.1 and I can confirm it has it...
You could also take the camera.apk out of illuminance and use that

I could be wrong, but I think that was a feature that was brought to the table by Froyo.
it is a feature that is supposed to be on froyo. Or if rooted, you could get N1 Torch and take advantage of multitasking. Just open that, turn on the light. Hit home to leave the app running and open the camcorder.
Yep it's in Froyo under the "Flash" icon.
Tried it but it just turns off the light really liked the rosie guess I will try froyo

didnt even notice this, thanks
I've had this problem on pretty much any Froyo build I've installed (tried Doc's, Darkys, etc).
When I press a button (power or home) to wake the phone up, I get a 10 second delay before the lock screen appears. The only time I don't get this delay is when the phone is charging: in that case, it wakes up instantly.
I tried using SetCPU, but it didn't make any difference for me.
I've followed the install steps to a T, and I still get this. This never happened on my Captivate (I have both), and I've flashed numerous ROMs without any problems on the Captivate.
Any thoughts?
As a side note, the ROMs are usually very fast and smooth. I'm currently on Darky's Legendary Steel ROM, v4.0 and aside from the wake up lag, the ROM is very smooth and fast, and this is without having applied any lagfix (used his SpeedMOD version). This is what makes the delay I'm experiencing all the more confusing.
Its a kernel bug, although I thought all the devs had it fixed on froyo.
Try another kernel

Thanks I'll give that a shot. Do you have a particular kernel you know for a fact doesn't have that bug?
Try one from hardcore

Tried two from Hardcore, neither of them have fixed the problem. I'll keep trying others.
Does a stock rom do this?

No, stock ROMs work just fine.

I was posting from my Captivate, but this issue is with my i9000. I have both phones.
Hey guys!
I recently began to use Roms which is based on stock again, and one of the feautures i miss the most from cm7/miui is the ability to force-close an app with a long press on the back key.
Does anyone know of a MOD or something that can enable this feature on stock roms?
Or can point me in the right direction or something?
Would be awesome to have it on stock roms!!

FC appears when an app is stucked, at least this is happening to me. If I keep pressed back button, it will display a dialog.

On stock roms you can view the running programs through the inbuilt program monitor and close them .

Yes, but this isn't the same, nor as easy.
I'd hope for this feature too, as I'm about to go from a Droid 2 with CM7 to a Droid 4 ... root will give me most of the things I want, except this.
In galaxy s2 you can use jk deluxe settings (search it) to use this function on stock (need root) rom
Settings>Developer options
First activate them at the top, then head to the bottom of the list, the entry furthest down is the one you want.
This should work for any ROM with dev options available, which frankly I think is everyone...

Its a ROM specific function and as far as I know there is not any mods available sadly

Hello guys.
I recently flashed android 4.1.2 jb on my n7000. And everything is going perfectly fine.
But i was wondering.. where is the torch light widget??? I know they replaced it with assistive light but is there anyway to get the torch light widget's files from ginger bread and upload them as an apk for me? I really need those 3 levels of light...
Thanks

Haven't seen it either, I either use an ap or Camera ZOOM FX, which can keep the "torch" on.

If anyone could help/create a mod .zip flashable threw CWM for people like me who have a captivate that has a broken power button, (that randomly presses itself and causes all kind of trouble), that will disable the power button inside of CWM/ROM's that would be amazing.
I would gladly donate at my next paycheck.
Already tried the galaxy remapper app, all of them, they don't work... Sadly...

Have you already started using volume wake and a screen off app then? You may just want to open the case and remove the outer plastic button instead. Correct me if I'm wrong but I think the key mapping is in the kernel and that's a bit more involved than just pulling out a small piece if rubber/plastic.
Sent from Omega House
Yeah, MIUI has the built in lock power and reboot which is awesome. I'm also using the volume to wake.
And yes, I should have mentioned I have removed the power button, and it still pushes itself... Kinds bites, that's why I would need a script to remove the power buttons command. But eh, you're probably right, it'd be too difficult.

Replacing the power button is a better option and a permanent fix. Unfortunately, it's worth it only in case you can DIY.
Yeah I can do it me self, I fix phones and stuffs for money on the side.
Problem is with the board though I think. Cause removing the button didn't help either.
So I figured if I completely disable the button that would be better.

It's not the plastic button. The switch is the problem.
Yes, that's what I meant by board >…< that's why I figured I need a mod.

You tried a cotton ball and rubbing alcohol? I did that to mine .. Every time I did a battery pull it would come on by it self..

It's included in options in almost every Custom ROM.

That's not true - my Captivate has SlimBean and I don't see the option for it, and OmniROM doesn't support it either.

I was using 4.2.2-based SlimBean for a long time and Volume Rocker Wake option was definitely there. SuperNexus based ROMs don't include VRW, don't know about OmniROM. Ask about it in OmniROM thread. All Cyanogen-based ROMs have it (HellyBean, Avatar, CyanAOSP, Gamerz, Captivating, etc), also PAC-ROM, SlimBean, C-RoM, Xylon, SaltyBean.
Here is the Slim features diagram:
