Hi Guys
I've been a long time user of the Kang-o-rama ROMs. I've got the latest flashed on there (2.3.7) but I'm thinking of giving my Sexxy Nexxy one last hurrah by flashging MIUI.
I'm after a ROM that will allow me to use S2E instead of A2SD - any ideas on which to try?
Thanks in advance
I would recommend MIUI for Nexus One. It's the only ROM that offers most of Sense/TouchWiz functionality that CM/AOSP builds lack, while staying small-sized and fast.
OK - care to link me to your preferred ROM?

I am a long time Miui user, and don't know of any of the Miui builds that use S2E. I have been tempted to try it and see if it works, but have stuck with a2sd+. Miui has A2SD+ built in and as long as you have an ext3 partition and run "a2sd install" in terminal after loading the rom, it works fine.
Lately I have been using the straight miui.com rom; but have also extensively used miui.us and miui android. The latest build as of today for the N1 is 1.11.18, but they are updated weekly. 1.11.18 has been really solid for me, and everything seems to be working on the miui.com rom.
If you use the miui.com rom, go to google translate and load the site there so you can download the rom. Otherwise use the miui.us,miuiandroid.com or miui scotland for english builds.

I am really not sure if S2E will work with MIUI. It comes with A2SD (I think the plus version) by default. After installing the ROM just run a2sd reinstall from Terminal Emulator. It works like a charm for me!
There are many good things about MIUI. It has the right balance of performance and being eye-candy. Good alternative to CM7. They release weekly builds and generally the bugs get fixed soon.
If you like Sense UI, then you can try HyperSense as well. I am seeing good progress on that and probably not the most stable version at this point. But it sounds promising.
I am currently running MIUI (after trying almost every ROM out there!!)

So is there yet Stable Cyanogenmod for SGS?
Im on Darkys v9 atm, and I wanna try something else...
And if there's not stable C-mod, can someone say which rom should I flash?
Peace
There is Cyanogenmod 7. But it still has some issues like the camera or fm radio are not working. You will get more info here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=940095
I'm on Darky's 9.3 final version and i'm totally satisfied. i can definetly recommend it.
it's user friendly, tested before release, very stable and reliable.
if you want to try something else you could try Doc's Rom Kitchen:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=817703 (advanced users only!)
hope i could help?!
Simply, not yet.
The work on Cm6 was suspended before the stable version to work on Cm7.
why not just flash gingerbread?
try this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=975930

I tried that Doc's Kitchen, but it was boring lol.
I'll be few days with THIS and then I'll go to Darky's rom
hi, the new cm7 is rather useable already as a daily rom. battery drain is somewhat higher, tough. please make sure to flash EXACTLY as described, then everything works really fine.
Im using CM7 and I think its quite stable as far as nightly builds go. Everything I use the phone for works fine for me apart from the WiFi in which it randomly reboots my phone. Would recommend that you at least try it for a couple of days.
yup, wifi is still an issue. but the new update of march 2nd fells very nice, not pre-alpha, feels much more like a late beta ..
Hi, moved to this today. but still buggy, no wifi(because ef reboots) is just too much, 3G was also problematic.
it was very slick when it worked and when stable I'll defo be on it. back to Docs.
Hi,
How's the last update? Codeworkxx said it maybe has more bugs than before.
0203 is aalot unstable. defo not everyday use.
try to just get back to a normal rom now and getting CWM edify errors.
What about new stuff?
Anything interesting?

Hi!!
I have been planning to switch to MIUI for a long time now, however I have a few questions before I start. I must add I have tried a Galnet release before, however I decided to revert back to Darky's ROM.
Now I see there are a lot of MIUI releases floating out there and thats whats confusing me.
How many types of MIUI releases are there in all
I found the following.
MCG 5.1
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=992251
(However this seems to be a very old one)
MIUI MCGv7.6
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=13372250&postcount=10049
(Is this a new version of MCG v5.1 or is there a totally different ROM, also is this latest or is there a new version of this as well)
MIUI 1.9.16: Nothing Fancy V7
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1241509
Galaxy S I9000 MIUI.us presents MIUI 1.9.16 Pure English
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1118682
I'm guessing there are more, coz i remember seeing atleast a couple of more threads.
Now are these all same releases varying only by version numbers or are these totally different ROMS cooked by different Chefs.
If yes, then which one is the best one or in other words the most good looking and stable.
Also, can these be flashed directly on a GB rom without going back to Froyo, coz i remember the last MIUI i tried, it didn't require a FROYO flash.
Please help, I really really want to try this out however i'm currently tearing my hair out, coz i can't understand which one is the one that I should try.
There is only one MIUI, and its Chinese, The ones you see are 'remixed' versions of MIUI
If you are wanting to try MIUI i would suggest GalnetMIUI, I know you have tried this before, But the latest releases have been epic, in terms of speed, stability, and battery life.
There is no longer battery drain with MIUI, its the same as any other ROM, dependant on the users usage..
MCG MIUI is/was Mambo, Currydude, Galnet.
MIUI gets updated every friday, Then the ROM Chefs that 'remix' it have to translate it to english and add their uniqueness. I know for sure Galnet does this, As for the others im not so sure..
And finally YES !! you can flash this over a GB ROM. Galnets MIUI is android version 2.3.5 and requires GB bootloaders in order for it to run smoothly.
MIUI is a great ROM and i have followed it for months now, I have flashed other ROMs but always go back to MIUI within 1-2days.
Which ever version you choose im sure you wont be disappointed
Official miui updates every friday. Look here :hffp://miuiandroid.com/.

Yes thats all you need to do.
Make sure its an absolute clean install, I would format cache, dalvik cache, Internal sd card, then top it off with a factory reset. (im obsessed with super clean installs)
Make sure you backup your apps though !!!

I just did a clean install of MIUI 1.9.23 and I must say i'm very very impressed, there have been tons of improvements in this release... I was gonna try out Galnet but it seems their site is down for maintenance, so I just gave this a shot... By the looks of it, i'm gonna stick with this one for a long time... ;-)

Hello, I just got this phone today. I've been considering flashing custom rom, but can't decide which. I'm dwelling between MIUI and CM7. Which one is currently better and with less bugs? Which version of recovery am I supposed to flash? Which baseband is currently the best for MIUI and which for CM7? Which kernel should I use? I'm sorry if thread already exists, I couldn't find it.
Hello!
Define best ROM!?!
If you use MIUI or CM is more a question of taste.
CM is a little more updated and a little more a vanilla approach. MIUI is trying to copy the iOS-concept and there is a even a theme that does a good iOS/Iphone-Copy - so if you like that...
Both ROMs run well and are faster than stock rom.
Baseband an RIL - that is a long discussed issue. In many German forums RIL/BAseband 0622 are recommended for MIUI and CM - but 0823 does also run well...
I would either go for a good CM KANG like the one from koboltzz (http://bit.ly/sbUogR) or the latest MIUI - do as you like.
You should always flash the latest clockwork-mod that comes with ROM-Manager.
...and don't forget LG Ril Version since you might need it - because the RIL included in CM7 is always 0218.
Greetings
Medizinmann
Ok, I think I will try MIUI. Also I see that it has some problems, but when Tweak pack is flashed it works fine. Which baseband will work better with MIUI 0622 or 0823? Is baseband the same as RIL?
edit: it isn't. So, what RIL to use with MIUI, and how to flash it? With LG RIL Version APP or something else?
Hi, you need to more think about your needs and demands when choosing a very different type of a ROM.
CMIUI is a rom based on MIUI but it has some modules from CM...it's currently available for Motorola Defy and I think that it's the best rom....
Go for MIUI.
U have to think about it.
If u want to use your phone daily - then definetly NOT MIUI.
i tired it for a week, different roms -still to buggy!!
If u want to use it daily - CM7 with Go Launcher. works perfect.
Or a Modaco rom
Why dont you try each of them for a week and you decide for your self which is best for you

Ok, I see, I definitively want everyday use, so I will go for CM. What do you recommend Stable, Nightly or Kang? What tool do I use to flash basebands?
i've have been using cm7 nightly for about a month. this rom definitely the most stable rom based from my experienced.
miui rom looks more lile ios..lol
By the way flashing and restoring app is only a ten minutes job...
CM7 is still the best
Hello!
Again...
The newest version of MIUI is already pretty stable and I tested a custom version with oc/uv-kernel from MIUI-Germany (Celebration iPhone HD 3.0.3) which is based on the last CM7-Nightly 204 from 16.11.2011 and the last Version of the SwiftExtremeKernel from 20.11.2011 - and it ran well, fast and stable.
...but I don't realy like the copied iOS UI concept – so I tried CM7(see my sig.) and must say that I like the more vanilla Android UI concept it a lot more…
Whats the best rom available right now for the N1? I haven't tested my N1 with anything in a while been running MIUI but I'm finding it to be sort of laggy now with apps installed.
Fastest? Hmm, pretty much any CM7 self-kang.
This one by samuaz is really fast: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1416894
Is that the most stable rom available for nexus one right now?
with multiple full wipes to include system both are stable for me
with ICS by samuaz you need to follow op page exactly
Temaseks latest CM7 Kang with scroll zip is BLAZING
I use now ICS by samuaz, it's fast and really stable. But it's an alpha version!
When you think it's important to have a stable rom, then
use CM7. CM7 roms are as stable as stock, but better ;-)
worth upgrading to ICS or JB?
hello. I realize this thread hasn't been active in a while, but I am thinking to bring back my Nexus One from the grave so I can have a backup phone for my daughter to play with in the car/plane. I wanted to ask if it is worth installing ICS or JB ROMs that are out there. I just have the stock ROM in there now and I always struggled with low memory and lag with some newer apps, that's why I've upgraded phones (I've have a Galaxy Nexus now).
I don't have intentions to put a SIM card in there, so I don't really care about phone call features.. only purely from a processing and lightweight standpoint.
Has anybody played enough with GB vs ICS and/or JB and weighed if it's worth upgrading? I'm assuming that it's worth it because so many developers still have Nexus One ROMs... that's why I would just go ahead and install it, but then I'm thinking again if it's just going to bog down the phone if I'm going to only use it for simple games.
Thanks in advance!!
Ken
Hello! I have installed the CM10.1 VJ Jelly Bean 4.2.2 v6.0 that is based on CyanogenMod and Evervolv, and works fine for me. I also have installed all the /data partition in the SD card with the A2SD script that is incorporated in the ROM... it generates some few lags, but I didn't have had any problem of lack of space again.
In my opinion, this is the ROM of JB that best preserves the native Android interface, and in my case is stable (until 7 days without to require a reboot!).
Other JB ROMs that users frequently use are PARANOIDANDROID and PixelDroid.
Thanks for the quick response! That is the ROM I was thinking of as well. However, just as a comparison, I'm thinking to flash a clean version of GB back onto the phone as well. Any recommendations on any GB ROMs as well? Thanks!

Sorry, but I can't help on it. I didn't install any GB ROM further than the stock ROM. In my opinion, I think that a stable, complete and functional ROM might be CyanogenMod 7.2. Maybe other XDA members can help you better on it...

This is my main phone. In several times I though changing to other new Nexus device, but the screen size of new devices is too big for me! I like a screen size from 3.7 to 4.0, that is good to read mails, a brief navigation in the Internet, and other minor issues. For other intensive uses, I have my tablet Nexus 10 or my laptop.
what is the diffrence between MIUI and CM7 which is best and stable, need your opinion.
From what I've seen, MIUI is organized like on the lines of iPhone UIs. Settings are all clubbed and sub-grouped into one place, you can go into select sub-group settings and so on. I find the UI controls very iPhonish.
MIUI comes with some good features like in-built Call Recorder, quick SMS reply from notifications.
One major difference between MIUI and CM7 is that MIUI by design does not have a App Drawer concept. All your apps in MIUI will show up on your phone screens.
Overall, both CM7 and MIUI have development builds available, you can use them and play around. Both will have some stable versions in case you are looking to get a stable ROM and not play around much.
I personally find MIUI very beautiful, but at the same time CM7 gives you more control on your phone.
Hope this helps you decide. I'd recommend you personally experience MIUI once for yourself.
Can you please give a link of OFFICIAL MIUI rom for o2x p990 and instruction to install it.. can i flash MIUI over CM7?
What do you mean official? I've used MIUI ROMs from this community:
http://miuiandroid.com/community/threads/2-2-10-gb-ics.15342/
Its got a link for the latest 2.2.10 version for O2X.
You will preferably need a full factory wipe, you can also try Moon101's ROM (link below) from the development thread. Thats a trimmed down MIUI version that draws out good parts from CM7 plus his thread has good set of instructions as well.

2.2.10 is stable and battery life is pretty decent. If you need good battery life along with good performance, try the EtaNa kernel by vadonka. Search in the development forums
So i need to revert back to stock GB 2.3.4 before flashing MIUI?
or I can flash MIUI over CM7?
Sorry im quite confused
Nope you dont need to revert to stock. Do a facyory wipe and flash MIUI. Good luck. Dont forget to take a backup before you do the full wipe.
