No not possible, I have tried the same several times.
But if you have the No do Stock Rom of your mobile, flash that fist then the restore should work.

Back up your stock gingerbread rom

Hello,
first a brief intro...i am not an android developer but I am a user and I love the OS.
However i have had a little trouble with the small issue of backing up stock ROM so that i can have the freedom to tinker with any custom ROM possible knowing that i can always fall back to my stock ROM if I don't like anything or something doesn't work.
I have the original ROM so i can flash it back whenever but not everyone has access to their stock ROM. so you must make a choice that once you flash a custom ROM, you cant go back.
So i am calling out to all the nice developers in the house...
1. Is this possible. is there a way one can do a backup of the stock ROM in the galaxy mini?
2. If its not possible at the moment, is there anyone willing to work towards ensuring its possible?
Like I said, I am not a developer but i could help in any little way i can to work with any willing developer towards achieving this.
Thanks.
yess is possible to backup your rom juste install ROM MANAGER and clic on backup is simple you can find it on android marcket ^^
I would not personally suggest Rom Manager since there are a lot of cases here that it bricked the phone. It is possible to backup your stock rom with cwm recovery. The problem is it can't be restored via the same recovery. This is a limitation of cwm. So Odin is still the best option to restore stock roms.. I do hope that restoring stock roms can be made possible thru cwm..

I have tried ROM manager and it doesnt even recognize the cmw recovery already installed. it requests to install a custom recovery and the SGM isnt listed among the supported devises so that wount work.

Have you actually backed up your stock rom using cwm?I have tried and each time i get an error that it couldnt mount the /system. And am seeking assistance to develop a means to back up and restore Stock ROMs in SGM.
with custom kernel with suport ext4 and convert rfs partition to ext4 partition you can backup your stock rom.
only need flash custom kernel. after that you can backup the rom.
galaxy S user have CF-root kernel for each rom. CF-root do this and root your phone and install CWR.
but for mini no any CF-root kernel
.i have changed my CWM by another one find here with godell thread I use "CWM5028.zip"
Dude, don't you try Rom Manager, it may brick your phone. CWM can't make stock rom backups as far as I know.

[Q] Flashing a different custom ROM

Quick question
Hoping to flash my second ROM. A while ago now I read something which said for the particular ROM I was looking at you have to flash it from the stock ROM.
So does this apply to all ROMs as i want to flash a different ROM than my custom one i have now, do i need to use my nandriod backup and restore to my stock ROM before proceeding to flash a different one or can i just go ahead from my custom one? Is there anypoint in this or is it just safer to do so or what???
Thanks xx

You can flash directly another rom, isn't neccessary to go back to stock, so backup your currently configuration/settings/rom (optional) and do the 3 wipes before flashing your new rom, flash it and enjoy (well, or follow Dev instruction to install the rom correctly )

How can I flash a stock rom on a locked bootloader?

Kinda of screwed it up a little. Deleted some apps in Titanium backup and even made backups but couldn't get the latestr firmware. So I factory restore, Still missing the apps and I need to reflash stock rom. Where can I find the stock rom and how to flash it?

Restore the backup you made.
Or flash the stock FTF you should have made
Or just use PCCompanion to repair your phone.

[Q] Brick risk

Hi ,
I want to root unlock bootloader, install cwm and install a custom rom ( slimkat probably)
Are custom roms worth it? Are there performance better than the stock jb on z?
Can i brick my phone doing this? And if i brick my phone how to unbrick it? I have heard someting about flash tool, but need more info.
And how this phone works? for example if i get a bootloop, in my old phone i still could easly go into cwm and restore backup or install another custom rom.
I want to do everything by this tut: theunlockr.com/2013/07/22/how-to-root-the-sony-xperia-z-video (it doesn't let me put the clickable so just copy)
Have you tried that or recommend something else?
Thanks.

I suggest you to read various threads about unlocking a bootloader, the risks and about the rom you want to flash.

Hi.
First some custom roms have better prefomance than stock and others not. You will brick you phone if you did something wrong. In all custom roms and mods the devs saying WIPE DALVIK CACHE if you didn't did that you will brick your phone.to unbrick use flashtool. Just download ftf file and install it from this tool. Dont worry its safe but you will lose your data. So BACKUP THEM!!!!! . Flashtool can install stock rom only.
And if you got bootloop. sometimes you will lose cwm. So you flashtool.
And last one..
To root you phone that Depends on you android version the best way you need to downgrade to 4.2.2 if you on 4.3 then you this app to root ( kingoapp.com )
DONE!

Quick way to flash stock rom and root it?

I keep keep switching between roms and having the stock rom seems to be the mid point. So was wondering if there is a way to flash stock rom (latest) and root it. Like in samsung i use to flash the stock rom via Mobile odin and that app had the ability to root while flashing..do we have any similar way to do it?

No. ..and do not even bother your self to ask more question about it, there is no way around, the only way is the one which you already know, like in my signature.
keep a backup on your sdcard and just restore it, no need to flash stock, downgrade, install recovery, install pre rooted rom.
Once you have root and recovery, just restore backups....
