So .. After hella long time that I didnt theme I came back themeing and im stuck with stupid tiny problem ...
I'm trying to set up a wallpaper (.PNG) 800X480 as my homescreen wallpaper and it just wont work ...
the Orange square that chooses the wallpaper is tiny :
Like that ^
When choosing a wallpaper not from the gallery but from the Themes apps it works .. ( also 800X480 , PNG )
No idea what to do O_O
800 x 480 would be landscape wouldn't it? Both these images are portrait.
Maybe upload the files and we can see if we can set them on our phones.

The image you are trying to set via the gallery is not the default size for wallpapers for a 480x800 device - should be 960x800 if you'd like to use the gallery to set your wallpaper for you.
Or...you can use an alternative wallpaper setting app like Super Wall Lite - allows any image to be set as background, from one frame's width (480) to a panorama (the sky's the limit - - - or MultiPicture wallpaper, which allows for an image to be used on each screen independently. Both free on the market and have different transition effects, can help kill wallpaper gradients, etc.

how do i get my picture to fill the whole screen of galaxy s? i can't seem to be able to do so. IF only i can have the option of not selecting the 'selecting box'
What exactly do you mean by fill the whole screen?
You could always resize your images to 1440x800 (normal resolution is 480x800, so triple it and it should work nicely for 3 homescreens)
The problem is I can't even make a 480 x 800 picture my wallpaper. Because of the selection box that only captures a fraction of that 480 by 800 picture

Hei, u can resize the crop box by touch the frame n drag it.

my image size is already 480 by 800 and yet the crop box appears. I know dragging it at its side enlarges it. I want the crop box to not appear. so my cropped wallpaper is only a fraction of my original picture
How do I do that?
The screen shows 480x800 at a time but requires a 960x800 wallpaper..
Id be willing to donate a reasonable amount to an application that can properly resize and make the wallpaper non sliding and it does not crap out the image quality!

i think u r just lucky... there is a live wallpaper by the name of droid x live paper or something it has an droid eye .. now here when u apply that in the settings u have to select the desired background.. lightning type- none, choose eye - none.. show particles- un tick this... and you are good to go.. now you have a wallpaper that wont move when you move the screens ... and if you know how to edit images.. make an image with the size 960 x 800.. but it will only show the first half ie 480x800 so keep ur image on the first half of the image..... i have attached a few wallpapers which i created may be you can understand what i m saying by looking at it... and i have also attached the apk file of the live wallpaper( this apk is not the full version , u can buy it from the market if u like it)
I am having problem with the phone's wallpaper setting.
Just bluetoothed a 480x800 wallpaper to the phone, went to wallpaper > select wallpaper from > gallery > then selected the 480x800 pic I bluetoothed, but then a red crop frame came up, and it would not allow me to stretch it to full size. Even if I stretch the frame to max size, the image will magnify in and become pixelated when displayed as wallpaper.
Is there a fix on this? Anyway to display the wallpaper as actual size (480x800) without the red frame?
I think the wallpaper needs to be 960 x 800 - it slides with the different home screens. So the IS is prompting you to crop it. Can you resize it first and then send it across?
Yes 480 is not enough ... Its actually half really ... The phone will only crop the wallpaper propotionaly so that it dosent get stretched in a funky way when applied ...

True, or you could get a Sense replacement and set the number of home screens u have to a lower value as opposed to the HTC Sense ... i havent tested it, but that should be a standard check for all sense replacements ..
Even easier would be to get the proper resolution wall paper
What is the correct size for the wallpaper for a Inc S/2? I am trying to set wallpapers using Tasker, but they keep winding up getting cropped and look odd. What size should the images be?
Just download wallpaper wizardrii best app to set wallpaper crop, no crop, exact everything
Problem is I am trying to set the wallpaper with Tasker....
800h*960w
you need to double the weidth
so 800*480 becomes 800*960
960x800 works perfectly
Thanks for this size I was getting quite frustrated when trying to add a portrait picture as my wallpaper
Below is the image I always use as a template, as the red area shows what will be displayed on the center screen

Wizardii seems like a great little app to help set wallpapers. I use the no scroll setting. https://market.android.com/details?id=com.twistedapps.wallpaperwizardrii&feature=search_result
Hi guys, found this.

I've been trying to create a wallpaper for my milestone 2 and no matter what resolution, it constantly makes me crop it. I tried doing an image with to the size specifications for the screen and it still wants me to crop it =(
How do I stop that or what size wallpaper must I use?
Wallpapers in android are panoramic, so when you move the pages on homescreen the image moves too.
Well I don't know the best resolution to use, that you should ask in the general forum.
Sent from my Milestone 2 XDA App
any idea on the size for that or is there a way to make it not panoramic?
I use Wallapaper Set and Save from the Market
The wallpaper size needs to be 960x854
I'm trying desperately to love my android device, but it keeps tripping me up with stupid things that I swear shouldn't be this difficult.
Latest issue is that I have a gorgeous 1080x1920 wallpaper that I would like to set as my background. Considering the M7 has a 1080x1920 resolution you'd think that this would be a match made in heaven, but NO for some reason both the gallery app and es file explorer are forcing me to resize the wallpaper to some awful square resolution that kills the quality of the wallpaper.
Reading around I understand that this may be due to the wallpaper scrolling feature, but if that's so I'd just like to switch that feature off and have my background be static. Can I find such an option....nope.
So please, someone put me out of my misery.

Funnily enough I've downloaded that and a load of other wallpaper apps and none get it perfect.
With the app above, if i select a 1080x1920 wallpaper and tell it not to resize, it looks perfect in the preview, but as soon as I apply it, there is a 15mm black border at the bottom of the home screen. It's almost like its reserving some space form the 3 dot menu.
It's driving me f**(^ing insane. I cant believe android is so retarded. Even Windows 3.1 could set a bloody wallpaper full screen.

Let's keep in mind that it's not Android that's stupid, it's Sense (at least parts of Sense). Stock Android/CM/etc can set full res wallpaper images without issue.. You could probably even set a full res wallpaper with a 3rd part launcher
