I put together a test version of GLaDOS which works with kwiboo's ICS port.
Download: http://www.multiupload.com/BA2GQ1VNMC
Sources: https://github.com/Ezekeel/GLaDOS-nexus-s/tree/glados + https://github.com/CyanogenMod/samsung-kernel-crespo/tree/ics
I tested it a bit and it seems something is keeping the DEEP IDLE state with TOP=OFF from being used; instead TOP=ON is used. So I guess this is a problem with GPS, BT or the vibrator. Will look into it tomorrow.
Update #1:
The problem is that BT is not properly disabled in the kernel when switched off. I have removed the check for BT in DEEP IDLE for now, so one can test the TOP=OFF state. If you need BT disabled DEEP IDLE or use the previous version.
Download: http://www.multiupload.com/FTH2DUN0M8
Update #2:
Since Koush's ICS ROM seems to be faster and more stable, his development is more transparent and he updates his kernel git in a timely fashion, I have decided to drop the official support for kwiboo's ROM and only support Koush's ROM in future updates. The kernel still might work with kwiboo's ROM though.
I have reenabled the check for BT in DEEP IDLE, so the TOP=ON will be used instead of the TOP=OFF state. I have informed Koush about the issue - maybe he can find the change in the ROM that causes this.
Download: http://www.multiupload.com/FUDAQY4AYT
Update #3:
Added OC frequency states 1.4GHz and 1.2GHz.
Download: http://www.multiupload.com/H5ARZNK691
Update #4:
Added latest kernel patches for ICS alpha 9. These seem to break adb.
If you do not need BT and want the DEEP IDLE state with TOP=OFF to be properly used, you can switch BT off manually with 'echo 1 > /sys/devices/platform/bt_rfkill/rfkill/rfkill0/soft'. This will break the BT switch and you will need to reboot if you want to use BT.
Download: http://www.multiupload.com/HDVWPGM43Q
Update #5:
Fixed adb and tethering (one needs to enable CONFIG_USB_G_ANDROID in .config). Mass storage is still not working though.
Also to get adb working, I had to edit my /etc/udev/rules.d/11-android.rules on my Linux machine from
Code:
SUBSYSTEMS=="usb", ATTRS{idVendor}=="18d1", ATTRS{idProduct}=="4e21", MODE="0666", OWNER="azrael" #Normal nexus s
SUBSYSTEMS=="usb", ATTRS{idVendor}=="18d1", ATTRS{idProduct}=="4e22", MODE="0666", OWNER="azrael" #Debug & Recovery nexus s
SUBSYSTEMS=="usb", ATTRS{idVendor}=="18d1", ATTRS{idProduct}=="4e20", MODE="0666", OWNER="azrael" #Fastboot nexus s
to
Code:
SUBSYSTEMS=="usb", ATTRS{idVendor}=="18d1", MODE="0666", OWNER="azrael" #Normal nexus s
SUBSYSTEMS=="usb", ATTRS{idVendor}=="18d1", MODE="0666", OWNER="azrael" #Debug & Recovery nexus s
SUBSYSTEMS=="usb", ATTRS{idVendor}=="18d1", MODE="0666", OWNER="azrael" #Fastboot nexus s
My guess is the Nexus S reported with a wrong idProduct (that of the Nexus Prime?).
Download: http://www.multiupload.com/LIILVGO0XH
Update #6:
Updates for Koush's alpha 11.
Mass storage now works (under Windows 7, but not on my Linux machine; probably a problem with Linux).
Download: http://www.multiupload.com/VYK8J1LG20
Update #7:
Turns out I was an idiot and did upload the wrong zip file. Here is the correct one. Sorry.
Also I forgot to mention that the last update adds init.d support. Thanks to Flo for that.
Download: http://www.multiupload.com/5AHEB0DJQ5
Update #8:
Added support for data usage limits (thanks Franco for sending me his .config).
Download: http://www.multiupload.com/DCIP6G25R6
Update #9:
Added DRAM scaling to Live OC.
Flash memory I/O tweaks.
Added Tiny Preemptive RCU.
Updated the optimized CRC32 algorithm.
Removed CFQ I/O scheduler.
Download: http://www.multiupload.com/9Z86UNGP4L
Update #10:
Added Bigmem option (increases RAM available for the system by 26MB).

Awesome......DL'ing now. Will report soon....NS4G
Edit---- booted fine. Voodoo works on colors. Haven't tried sound yet. Nstools gives me access to bln, bld, touchwake, live oc and deep idle. bld works. Haven't tried bln, touchwake, live oc. Can't report on deep idle yet. Not overclockable with setcpu. But able to use lazy governor. Also able to adjust voltages. THANK YOU!!
Edit2----never used live oc before or glados......just read up on live oc and figured out how to oc........

Just flashed it and it works great. Live OC works as well as voodoo color. Thanks!
When it boot I got a message "Android is upgrading, optimizing application x of 114". Is that just building caches for everything?

This kernel is for AOSP Gingerbread roms for the Incredible only!
Do not flash with ROM Manager, it has been known to give very strange issues on this phone, boot into recovery and manually flash it.
Things I add from stock (I believe in a mostly vanilla kernel with smaller mods to improve battery life and, in some situations, performance)
-havs (hybrid adaptive voltage scaling)
-smartass cpu governor (capped at 384mhz while screen is off)
-smb329 enabled (fast charge)
-no debugging (for smaller kernel size)
Use kernel manager from the market to get this (unless you want to be stubborn and do it yourself)
Pulled -5 and -6, not working as expected
invisiblek 2.6.37.6-4:
-Updated to latest cm-kernel source (latest change was May 30th)
-smartass and havs settings grabbed from the popular .32 #28 kernel which should help us get some decent battery life
Download
ENJOY!
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
SOURCE:
All of my source is at: http://github.com/invisiblek/cm-kernel/2.6.37_cm-kernel
We need to thank cyanogen, slayher, toastcfh, koush, cuviper, chad0989, cayniarb, vinylfreak89, seanzer, conap, jamezelle, and im sure others for all their help with this
FAQ:
Q: Will this work with Froyo?
A: Maybe, but probably not. I would recommend a .32 kernel since they are more stable at this time.
Q: My led turns green at 90% what gives? Please Fix!!
A: It always does that, been addressed a million times. Live with it
Q: Why is my cpu governor <x> when i set it to <y>?
A: <x> is probably the default (most roms set this in the ramdisk although the kernel does have a default setting, the ramdisk usually trumps it) youll have to re-set your governor after a reboot
Q: How can I help?
A: You can start by grabbing the source code from here
Q: What is havs?
A: from kingxklick's thread:
Code:
Also, a little info on HAVS and AVS:
The purpose of HAVS is to minimize the power used by the CPU by determining
and setting the optimal voltage. At the same time, the maximum voltage by
which HAVS can scale to is fixed to a specified voltage depending on the
CPU frequency in order to prevent scaling to a higher voltage than what is
normally used at a specified voltage. The optimal voltage is actively determined
for each frequency and temperature. HAVS actively adjusts the CPU voltage as the
CPU frequency and temperature changes.
Q: What is smartass?
A: The smartass governer drops drops the max cpu frequency when your screen is off (currently set to max 384mhz). It is very effective in saving battery life. (juice plotter is a good one for monitoring your battery life)

Fixed consumption at all frequencies.
Added mine changes in CPU
Added changes in GPU.
Added hundreds of small changes in all the libraries ...
And a thousand things more

Acura 2201
This is the kernel to save power.
Speed is 1.3 and carries the termination LV referring to Low Voltage. Heh hehe me and my names.
If you have problems of fouling or Bluetooth does not work this kernel is not for you.
The voltages to the 800MHz band is very low. All for the low of 1.0.
And the maximum of 1,376 reduced to 1.35.
The GPU also has been lowered from 1.2 1.5
Telephone signal but also affect the power or signal reception. It is only during the call.
With these settings the battery increases the duration much. Without more testing time I can not give a figure, but in normal use can reach 15 hours without problems. That in mine never step 8. Very very lucky.
Now you tell me that this will go.

I love the hotplug gov. This phone is smooth as hell..I'm coming from an atrix that I had to give my wife as she didn't like the size and was scared by the 3d on this thrill. So im used to a fast phone and although it test out about the same as atrix it seems to run a lot smother and very glitch free. This hotplug gov seems to due a great job of controlling the cpu speed needed for battery life and functionality. Also rom toolbox works great for tweeking the memory and kernel settings among other things...awsome program I highly recommended it for this phone.

This thread makes me extremely happy... happy enough to bookmark it and check it every day.
I can't understand why it took someone so long to start trying to get CM7 on this phone. With Jocala's Peach Sunrise running so slick I'd tend to think that CM7 has great potential to be just as slick once all the bugs are worked out.

i have compiled a nexus 7 kernel similar to this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1903304 but for 4.3 roms the main theory for this kernel is less heat and more battery (i was able to get 7 1/2 Hours SOT With 2 Days Standbye)
These Are The Features
1.vdd_core/vdd_rail ,emc, pll_c, host1x, GPU, CPU Pre Undervolted
2. CPU LP Overclocked To 666MHz
3. Speed of GPU 2d/3d/vde etc set at 400 mhz (close to stock of 416) (Also 228MHz GPU Step Decreased To 215MHz)
4. 1300MHz Quad Core Patch
5. Min Backlight Level 5
6. host1x Underclocked From 260MHz To 255MHz
7. Some MISC. Tweaks
8. FSYNC TOGGLE
Tell Me What Your feedback Before i make a thread in development section
it has Mkernel Ramdisk So it should boot on all roms ive only tested cm10.2 though (i will not be adding voltage control as i think this kernel has a good undervolt 75-100mv undervolt on all frequencies)
Enjoy

Okay no worries, just wanted to see in detail what you did exactly Cheers mate
Nice kernel for start! Always favor battery save kernels.
Keep coding and create thread in right forum. I'm sure many will be interested.
Good luck!

Been testing for quite a while now. Everything seems to be working. Extra juice from UV really helps. Do you plan on further development ?
I'm very interested.

Not sure why you think we're being closed minded? Some people post on here claiming battery life of 11+ hours, so 7 might not be that good, alternatively you might've just increased from 7 initially to 7.5 now. Wouldn't be worth my time, given the problems I've had flashing kernels before, if the increase was hardly noticeable.
Doesn't hurt to look into stuff a bit more before we flash something completely new with little info.

Yeah but there's nothing as remote testing for a kernel. You have to try and see for yourself. All info lies in OP's post, anyway.
MAY THE FORCE BE WITH YOU!
This kernel is from the HTC 3.4.10 european source code and has been modified to work on Sprint. It is built with the arm-eabi-4.7 toolchain. There are not a lot of additions/tweaks to maintain stability and cleanliness. This is only for Sense on Android 4.3.
Tips
Use an app like Trickster MOD to control the built in goodies.
Added Features
Governors: Smartmax, Lionheart, Lagfree
Over and Under clocking the CPU and GPU

If you fork my work to create your own kernel, the least I ask is a little credit:cyclops:. After all, we don't even have proper 4.3 source and I had to do a bit of work to get it to boot. Thanks.:good:

So this will work on any Sense rom running Android 4.3? Just want to clarify it was not a typo
Woot woot.

So can we use this on a sense 5.5 4.3 ROM?
Sent from my One using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
It was confirmed by a tester to work on Sprint for android 4.3. Therefore it should work on Sense 5/5.5 as long as its 4.3.
Let me know if you guys have issues...I have the Verizon variant...so a little difficult for me to test.
So if we find issues can we pull a logcat? I've never reported issues with a kernel, so I was wondering if they would be any help
Am I seeing things? I had to do a double take

Awesome! I can confirm it works on 42One Aftermath 4.3 Sense 5.0. Thanks for sharing this!
Going to take this for a test drive on BadBoyz rom (svn r11). Will report back with my results...

s2w+s2s both work for me...and double-tap2wake...and logo2wake. I haven't changed any of the OC settings, but default max is set at 2106000, so rockin' along. I have CPU governor on smartmax.

Did you set to apply kernel settings on reboot? The box is not checked by default.
This kernel works in BSC Tranquil 4.3 Sense 5.0 as well. Once the kernel is flashed, it activates the s2w/s2s and logo menu choices in kernel options settings in BadSeed Tweaks. Double tap2wake works with no setting required. For CPU clocking, it looks like Trickster Mod will still have to be used. But TM has s2w/s2s options there as well, so not sure which mod will rule, or if both mods will have to be set the same.
Yeah I checked apply kernel settings on reboot, still the frequency doesn't stick

Did you toggle frequency lock on in trickster? My settings seem to be sticking just fine but I'll monitor. Using on BadBoyz rom svn r11 with no issues so far. Still need to do further testing but so far, so good. Thanks for this, we've been waiting a while for a custom kernel. :good: :victory:

Nobody is trying to say you did anything wrong, just trying to make sure you covered everything. What rom ate you trying this on? Maybe you have an init.d script in system/etc/init.d folder causing the problems. I've also been around since the samsung intercept and og evo 4G, so I feel ya...
