ROM Manager doesn't support Note if I recall correctly. Reboot into CWM Recovery and do your backup from there.

Rom Manager doesn't work in Note. That's why there is another app in your app drawer if you would have used CF root kernel by chainfire for rooting. The title of the app will be CWM. You can backup you rom through it and do many more functions. Uninstall Rom Manager from your phone! it wont work as desired.
Hit thanks if it helped!

Hi there,
I tried to create an update.zip file to install a simple app.
I followed the instructions on this forum, but for some reason while rebooting, the phone is saying:
Opening update package...
Installing update...
Installation aborted.
Any idea why?
update.zip is signed, update-script in the proper place in the META-INF tree...
Thx for help,
Michal

Download my Root Package for JPK and decompress update.zip:

update-script should be updater-script.
Maybe you've forgotten updater-binary?

1. Its wrong section to post, you should use Q&A for these kind of queries
2. You didn't mention your OS version or any ROM details, people can't help you with these kind of request and you might end up bricking your phone
3. I strongly suspect that you are running Froyo with 3e updater which does not allow you to use self signed zips. You need to downgrade it to 2e. Can't help you much unless you give more details about your OS and ROM.
Thank you very much for your help

update-script is for clockworkmod recovery and updater-script and the binary is for stock recovery
You can pretty much find updater-script and the recovery in any update.zip's that are being used on the SGS
thanks for your help:
1. yes, the missing binary file was one of the issues
2. I used the one in the update.zip file distributed

Okay my question is.
You see this rom - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1135343
It says i need Clockwork Mod recovery.
What will happen if i install the rom with Xrecovery?
Because honestly, i have no idea how to install CWM.
Also. Since i am running on Froyobread 23b atm. It is built in with dual recovery.
can i use the CWM built into this rom to install XGin?
Thank you for any help.
Chances are pretty good that you will end up in a boot-loop if a pre-/post-installation script isn't executed properly or permissions aren't setup correctly (the scripting language of CWM isn't compatible with xRecovery).
Simply get the x8toolbox out of the development section to install CWM or find nobodyAtall's CWM Recovery 3.2.0.0 thread and install it ... it's not that hard to do.
Of course you can try to flash with xRecovery, but if you're stuck in a boot loop prepare yourself to restore the Stock ROM through SEUS or Flashtool and go from there again.
Thanks for the quick reply, but i still don't get it. =/
EDIT :How do i install CWM without replacing Xrecovery?
and if i do replace Xrecovery, what happens to the roms that need xrecovery to install?
Help..T_T

Yes, it should be safe to install the ROM through Froyobread's CWM IF it reports itself as version 3.2.0.0 or later (can't recall what CWM version Froyobread had - just reboot into CWM and look at the top/right corner where it displays the version number).
it says "Clockwork Mod v3.2.0.0-r2 x10mini"
And then the options.
Then right at the end it says
"FATAl:Couldn't generate a valid backup for the current recovery"
Whats that!?
Never saw that error message in CWM ...
Either post the question here - though there's already one post in there (page 13, post #122) about that problem but unanswered - or ask in shpit's thread about advise before you try to flash.
Flash?
I don't want to flash it..
Doesn't flash mean to make the rom the default?
Or is it another way of saying INSTALL?
Yes, Flash/Flashing means "writing the contents of the update ZIP into the NAND memory (=ROM) of your phone" - you can of course also put it as "installing the new ROM".
Like I said, I would ask about the error message you got from CWM before trying to flash/install the xGin ROM.
Maybe, and I'm guessing here, it's related to some incompatible version of busybox or su.
Edit: If you need to increase your posts to '10' so you can post in the developer section just add 4 more posts to this thread and then head over to the dev section and post your question in the xGin thread.
You know what, Nevermind.
Cos i really don't understand this.
at all.
Im using 1.15..i think..of BusyBox.
and I updated SU today through Android Market.

That could be the problem ... a version of the su binary that is too new OR is buggy (I read somewhere that su 3.0.2(?) had a problem and manual upgrade to 3.0.6 was advised)
I appreciate that link.
thanks.
+
Superuser v3.0.6 (40)
SU binary v3.0.03

can you please tell me how to disable the signature verification?
Also maybe flashing all androids are same but i'm very fine with flashing my xperia arc and finding Rom for that but for this samsung m not sure where to find the best roms,
would be nice if you got any good choice or preference for Samsung GT19000,
Thanks lot for reply
Redownload the rom and try again. Do not turn off file verification, because it assures your rom.zip isnt corrupted.
Id recommend slim bean or cyanogen if you want to stay as close to aosp as possible.

Help! I can't figure out how to install cwm on my sgs i9000! I have root, and used rom manager to get the proper update.zip, but when I try flashing the zip I get an error message saying that the signature verification failed, or something like that. I read on Google that the problem is that I'm on 3e recovery and that I need to be in 2e, is that accurate, and if so, what do I do about it? Help on this would be much appreciated. Thanks!

most likely you posted it in the wrong forum, if you had visited the i9000 forum you will find it in sticky threads as well as a simple search would have given you the answer see [Tutorial] How to Unbrick, Flash, Downgrade, Root, Update i9000 from Froyo to Kit Kat
so use the search for fast answers.
