I just sent the following issue to HTC support. I noticed that when I typed in the title, I got several other posts from XDA forums about the same or similar problems. So, it seems to be an ongoing HTC issue. It's not the biggest problem in the world, but I need to be able to show the pictures in a particular order - the order that I took them.
"I took a number of photos with the Vivid camera over a period of an hour and a half at several different locations. However, when I viewed them in the Gallery app that came with the phone, the images did not display in the order that I took them. I could find no way in the Gallery to sort the images by date/time. This made it difficult to communicate to others the situations and scenes I had taken. the Gallery app should display the photos in the order they were taken."
Another annoying issue is that every app that I had downloaded had it's own folder in the Gallery. I've never seen that on my other Androids. I had to go in & hide each, plus go back in anytime I download a new app = Very annoying bug!
Also, I use touchdown email. Every email I get that has a picture in the sig gets its own folder too. If I get 2 emails from John Doe with a picture in his sig, I have 2 folders, each with the same pic in it.
Another user pointed out in another thread that in the default gallery you're unable to "share" (send to fb, twitter, etc) with the default gallery too.
Got QuickPic
I installed the QuickPic app from the Market (free with no ads). It's simple but it displays the photos in the correct order.
As to the extra folders, QuickPic was also showing the same folders as the HTC Gallery. What's happening is that apps store images in various places for use by their programs. The Gallery and QuickPic by default find all folders containing images. QuickPic provides the ability to exclude a folder from displaying. Better yet, in Settings/Browser, you can select what folders to include, e.g. the DCIM folder on your external SD card. That way, you get only the photos you take with your camera. Of course, other folders can be included.
+1 QuickPic, using it for a long time, and on all my previous devices.

is there a way when you take a picture with your camera, to have the little window at the top that shows the gallery/pictures to open the quick pic app? like if I wanted to SHARE the picture or send it to FB/Twitter etc? It's a pain to take the pic, close the camera, open quick pic, navigate to the dir, find the pic, just to send it. It shouldn't be that hard.

Touchdown has a setting to prevent attachments from showing up in your gallery. Look under the advanced tab. Exclude attachments from gallery.

In the default gallery? no. When I am in camera mode, and touch the picture(Gallery) to open the pictures and view them, there's no way to "share" them. The options I have are:
Set as (contact icon, favorite, wallpaper, etc)
Slideshow

No "share" or "send to" options. Do you have share options?

You're still in the camera app. The earlier suggestion was to tap the thumbnail insert in the corner to open the photo. Then you can use the menu to get to the sharing option. You have to have a photo open/selected before you can share it.
no im not. its a screenshot OF my camera screen, but that is actually a picture. Guess I should have taken a screenshot of a different pic. That is in the gallery.
You seem to not be following his directions correctly. When you see the picture you want to share, tap the picture. Don't hit the menu button, just tap the picture and a different menu appears.

All feedback / feature requests are welcome as always!
how do I actually get this? Is there an apk for it or is available on the market or something? Cuz I didn't see a link for downloading it when i checked the website. Just more information about what it did. Thanks in advance.
Search for 'Photo BURST' in the market.
thanks for the quick response. Checking now..
Just checked this on Market.
Wanted to say thanks for an amazing app!
The stock gallery app was pretty poor especially compared to iphone etc, but with this new app I can really enjoy my pics in style! Slideshow is a standout - especially collage!
Suggestions would be to add exclude folder option and tagged images.
Keep up the good work!
Thanks for all the feedback on this app.
We have just released an update 1.0.1 which improves picture quality and fixes all known bugs from the original release.
Please let us know how everyone gets on with the new update.
Much more coming soon ...
Wow just tried the demo of this app and it's looking good. Like the features you've introduce so far. Could be a really good app.
It does keep crashing after the phone goes to sleep though for me. I'm on CyanogenMOD 4.0.4 ATM. If this can be fixed I think it will be one of my next purchases.
Thanks for the feedback.
Another user just reported going to sleep resume issue so we'll look into that next.
Released update 1.1 :
- Ping.Fm = 1 click send to Twitter, Facebook, MySpace, Flickr, etc.
- Zoom sensitivity option
- Folder gallery bg color option
More coming soon ...
Awesome looking app. Seems like after a few minutes it just goes to sleep and my phone is totally unresponsive for a minute.
Running on a G1 with apps on SD card
Great job so far.
Some ideas/thoughts:
1. The scrolling is a bit weird. Almost like it's scrolling faster than I'm moving my finger. Instead of it being 1:1 it seems to be scrolling further than I want as I move.
2. It would help a lot if the size of the folder buttons was larger. The first screen where you see the listing of all the directories on your card that have photos. I've missed the button I want a few times since they aren't tall enough for a satisfying hit area.
3. If I choose "share" from any image, choose gmail for instance, and send or discard the message, when it drops me back into the app I see the splash screen and then the directory chooser again. Not the image I was just looking at. Frustrating!
4. That splash screen has to go. It makes sense for the indexing part, but when there is no indexing, or in the case of coming back to the app like I mentioned above, it's annoying.
That aside, it's looking pretty good! The last update improved IQ greatly. No more color banding on gradients!
The latest update (1.1.2) fixed #3 from my previous post. Nice!
Thanks for feedback - released update 1.1.2 :
- Ping.Fm = 1 click send to Twitter, Facebook, MySpace, Flickr, etc.
- Zoom sensitivity option
- Folder gallery bg color option
- Help guide
More coming soon including delete option.
Very nice app, however i find the double tap / circular zoom procedure a bit difficult to master. I would certainly pay for app if it supported multi touch zoom as well.
Best rgds,
Geir
features to add
this application is great as it stands, beautiful UI very well done transitions its great, but a couple of features i would really like to see would be the ability for this applications to be the default picture grabber for aplications and such instead of the gallery(though this would probably have to be edited on both sides of it yours and the sides of the applications themselves), the second being easily enough done would be the ability to hide folders of pictures from the main page and/or the ability to sort the picture folders as this would eliminate need to remove them just place them somewhere else
There's another bug I found: view a picture, open the hardware keyboard on a G1. The app will exit back out to the splash screen and show you the folder picker again.
Happens on any open/close of the keyboard.
Thanks for the feedback. We'll look into and implement all the suggestions mentioned above :
- flip open issue
- hide folders
- multitouch for rooted / supported phones
- single tap to get zoom wheel
- splash screen only during indexing
- folder icons bigger
- more standard scrolling
Look out for updates soon - also feel free to join our Facebook group :

Would love a default folder or "exclude" folder option.
I want to show people pics without them having to go through every stupid jpg on the memory card from apps , and would like to avoid them stumbling into pics I want private.
Im aware of privacy folder apps but this app could kill 2 birds with one stone but letting us have the option to open a default folder that it always looks into and opens on program.
Splash screen and indexing need to be minimized and "when needed" only.
Finger swipe and zoom functions are fantastic but cant use as default until those things are implemented.
Thanks for the suggestions. Default folder and exclude folders are both planned for a future update.
We are 50% complete on the new update which significantly reduces loading time and only indexes required thumbnails.
We are also updating all of our apps to include support for Droid so it may take a liitle longer.
We are open to any suggestions for future updates so keep the ideas coming.
I'm using the stock facebook app. Is there a way to have the synchronized facebook pictures show when that person is calling you? Right now it only show their names. Only contacts where i manually added a picture show up when that person calls.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA App
Click on your contacts and choose a contact. Hit the menu key at the bottom and select 'Mark as default'. At the top should be 'Caller ID', and the facebook picture for that contact you synced. hit the radio button next to the picture and save.
Voila!
Hope that helps.
Thanks! Wish it did that automatically though, instead of me setting defaults for each contact by hand.
By any chance is there a way for the Incoming Call Picture to be bigger? For some reason it shows up quite a bit smaller than it actually is.

Not that I'm aware of. That is probably done to ensure proper resolution of the photograph.
using the STOCK fb Go to accounts and settings> Facebook> Sync contacts.
Sometimes there are 2 entries here because of facebook app. stock is better for contact syncing.
In phone Contacts press
Menu> Get Friends> Facebook> Choose all the freinds you want to sync with phone.
In phone contacts make sure first and last name are the same and they should sync. (most did for me).
For the ones that dont, long press a contact and select "Join Contact" and select from list you chose earlier, or some suggestions, or if you forgot some click get freinds.
A contact can be joined with upto 4 syncing profiles, 1 of which will always be phone, some of my contacts are joined to "phone, google, Windows Live, and Facebook"
other setting to play with:
Menu> More> Display >
only contacts with phones
scroll down to Facebook and CHECK contacts

Am I the only one whos stock Facebook app's sync experiences frequent problems and "will be back shortly"?
Is there a way for the incoming/ outgoing call pictures to displayed bigger? I tried the full screen caller id app but it stretches the already small facebook synced pictures. Also the built in facebook sync(for the full screen app) is still broken.

i had that issue the other day.
note: i have the facebook app TOO but dont sync contacts with it.
i use the default sns syncing because it has the little "F" logo.
anyways i fixed the problem with the default syncing by removing the "Facebook APP" settings from "Accounts and Sync". even though they were NOT set ON. and the other started working again. Re-started facebook app, re-log in, no syncing... ok DONE. worked for me at least
There's also SyncMyPix.
Does anyone know of a way to have a bigger and more high quality image to be used for the caller id? Currently the "full screen caller id" app can't sync with facebook properly, you would have to do each contact manually.
Would be an awesome feature in a ROM, lol

Randomly now whenever I download an image off the internet or export and image from dropbox to my SDCard, the gallery doesn't see it there. I can see it in the camera app in the little box, but i press on that box and its not there. I tried clearing gallery data, media storage, and using scanmedia to see if it can pick up the images but never does. They are there in my SDCard. Tried putting them in the DCIM 100MEDIA folder and the downloads folder and just doesn't work. It'll recognize pictures I take with the camera and put it in the app but never anything downloaded. I'm not rooted by the way. What could cause this?! D:
I was able to download another gallery app and see the images but still can't see them in regular gallery app and camera. :/ Probably just gonna do a reset. Heavily debating in rooting and installing a custom ROM as well but I promised my self that I'd wait a month before rooting.

Restart your phone and see if the images appear in the gallery.
If they do, then it's an issue with Android's media scanner not triggering.
Try this app to request the media scanner to trigger an update.

Pictures I download or save from web pages appear in the stock gallery app under "All downloads" in Album view.
If you don't have "All downloads" in Album view, tap on the 3-dot icon (menu) and select "Show/hide albums" and check "All downloads".
Tried it all guys. Gallery doesnt see any of the recent images I've added to "All Downloads" but when I use quickpick and enter the All Downloads folder they are there. Of course I tried going in to system/app and installing HTCAlbum.apk (Would try and it would say its a system app and all previous data will be saved but afterwards says app not installed), and it didn't work and now my phone says gallery isn't installed. >.> Guess resetting it will be the best choice.

Glad on not the only one. I don't mind resetting but I really want to know why so I don't make the same mistake again. I can't imagine anything I did would cause it but maybe application did it. Don't have any apps downloaded that messed with the gallery though.

Hello. I just got a Note 8 with the Samsung LED case. So far, I'm loving both and the case looks so beautiful. However, the icon creating app, 'LED Icon Editor', is not very good. It's quite difficult to draw the icons if you're not very good at drawing (I suck).

Has anybody find any app or online guide that can be useful to design different icons. For instance, I use WhatsApp a lot, and so far, every attempt to draw the WhatsApp icon has been a total failure so I'm just using a W, which also was not very easy to draw. So I used something like this as a guide but it won't work for icons just letters and common symbols
The guide I've been using:
Another issue I have is that if I reset or flash my phone, I will lose all my custom icons. Is there any way to backup the data for this app without root? (I'm thinking maybe backing up a particular folder).
Thanks.
I would also like to see what others have done. I have created a few custom icons for simple things like email and twitter. I tried doing one for snapchat and it never turned out good so I just gave up.

mub51 send me a couple of icons
These are the ones I have created.
I started to play with this, but it seems you can only set it for certain contacts. Is there another place you can set it per app? For example, 1 for any texts, 1 for emails, etc.

Yes this is possible. You can choose contacts , next to that you can choose apps. Look at my uploads and click on the word next to 'personen'

Apparently you can't set it to the text app though? I see multiple apps listed, but no texts apps are in that list. Same with the Phone app.

That is correct. However you could try selecting contacts. I do not now if this will work.
For messaging, you could try to download a third party messaging app and give permission to the app to receive all messages, then you could select that app and give it a different led icon.
This is all in theory I did not check it for you.
Let me know if it works

I tried selecting all the contacts, but it only lets you select up to 100 contacts per icon.
The 3rd party messaging apps do not show on the list either.
Alas, it seems that this may not be a possibility.
