So, I ordered unlock codes on multiple sites and all of them didnt work, and requested refund. I saw something interesting: 2 of them sent me the same codes, and I think that if 2 of them sent me the same code means that - that is the right code. It anyway dosent work and I think because I have CM7 installed. What should I do? First I will try with another ROM, and if that dosent work, I will do a KDZ flash (I know this from the LG Optimus One forums), returning to basic.
Will KDZ help?
Does not matter which rom you are using... the unlock code will work if its correct. I have my MS unlock using CM7...
The point is those sites that offers unlock codes uses an algorithm based on your phone model + country + network.
If it didnt work for is because they dont have all info to compose 100% the algorithm like your operator and they try some standard validation that sometime will not work.
PS: try to be nice on your topics so ppl may wanna help.

Contact your operator and ask for your unlock code, or take your handset to a shop with mobile phone unlocking.

I will make a new thread with all the story, theres a new -stupid- problem.
I was using CM6 when I unlocked the phone, and as wisefreakz said, the code is obtained by country + network, the guy who give me the unlock code told me that it was more expensive than other (cheaper?) phones because of it...

I had used the dial code in the past to see if i was unlocked, but i can't find it now...
Does anyone know it, or where it is posted? I found these threads for the i9000

But i can't find the code that tells you if your phone is locked or not.
Someone probably has this memorized.
Thanks

Only some people seem to be experiencing it. A fairly popular solution is to stick a piece of paper in the small hole at the top, rear of the device. I haven't tested it personally.

The password for this menu on the Milestone hasn't been found yet, as far as I know. Even if it was, I don't believe the same tweak for call quality found on the Droid would be applicable on the Milestone. As far as I know, it's specific to the Verizon network.
All that said, this is the wrong section.
sry...
thank for the info
by the way, your thinking maybe my service provider (Cellcom) have this code?
some pp'l told me that the SPC code is just Residue of the Droid'd software
is it true? they are diffrent beyond GSM\CDMA?

I believe only Motorola has this code. The differences between the Milestone and Droid certainly go beyond the radios they use (GSM/CDMA)
The Milestone is locked down, Motorola doesn't want anybody to modify it. The Droid was released as a Google phone, which means it's allowed to be modified any way the user wishes. The Programming menu (what you want the password for) is one of the tools that let you change some otherwise-hidden settings that Motorola doesn't want you to change.
Unfortunately the speaker stopped working on my 1009-batch Captivate that was unlocked (by me, when it had Eclair). The replacement arrived on Friday, a 1008-batch phone pre-loaded with Froyo.
I have tried these steps to no avail:
1-Downloaded SGS unlocker (and a couple other apps); all it can find is "FFFFFFFF" as the unlock code and reports back a "FAIL"
2-Exported the nv_data.bin file to my computer and searched it for "FFFFFFFF" to see if it referenced an actual unlock code. Can't find anything.
3-Flashed back to stock Eclair using ODIN one-click to see if the unlocker programs will work in that setting; they don't.
I don't know of any other ways to try to unlock. Do you guys know of any?
Thanks in advance!!

Did you flash back to stock eclair when running the app?
Yep...tried it from stock eclair and stock froyo with the same result. I wonder if having the phone shipped to me with froyo on it (and not eclair) could be the reason?

I'm really not adverse to this idea at all, because I have flashed so many times I feel I'm caught in the middle of that Simpsons Treehouse of Horror episode where it rains donuts and Flanders is the undisputed ruler of the Earth. Can you recommend one that is reputable? Also, do you know how they determine the lock code...is it based on the IMEI or something?

Just want to ask. Are you rooted or not? Those apps clearly needs root access to be effective in unlocking your phone coz you didn't mention in your op that you're rooted.
^Yep. I'm running CM7 now, and it's rooted and I made sure busybox was installed. It is.
Looking into this a bit more, it appears the program may have worked! I tried putting a UK sim in the phone (I'm in LA) and the phone booted up with no issues and didn't ask me for an unlock code. The phone is now roaming on T-Mobile. So I guess that means it worked, despite the program saying my unlock code was FFFFFFFF. So - that's awesome!
Next, though, it appears that app 'galaxy_s unlock' by helroz seemed to have changed my IMEI to 00499010640000 which is definitely not what's on the back of my phone. Will have to investigate that next!!
Glad it works. You can type in the dialer *#7465625# to know lock status of your phone. It may change because it will wiped out the code in your phone and it's permanent.
Why not just ask AT&T for the unlock code?
With T-mobile all you have to do is ask and they give it to you. Took 5 minutes on chat support and the code was emailed to me in a day or so.

When you ask they say they have some sort of contractual obligation and that Samsung will give them the additional info to do carrier unlocks after 7/7/11
They make it sound like its not their choice but that's BS.
Until the 7th of July, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=761045 captivate owners have to either buy the app or bust out the hexeditor...

Hello everyone. I recently got a used Motorola Milestone. I rooted it and was able to flash a custom ROM (specifically iceandfire-v1.8-16.03.11-milestone.zip) . Its a neat rom!!
My next step was to unlock it. I think it was locked to either Telus or WIND Mobile, but i wasnt 100% sure which. I purchased the unlock code online, and selected Telus as its locked carrier. I then got the unlock code, popped my ROGERS sim in ,typed in the unlock code, and success!!
However.... the phone does recognize the ROGERS carrier (on the main screen when u have to swipe to unlock the scrren),but does not get any signal from it. I did a carrier search in the settings ,and WIND was the only carrier it found.
So... 2 questions ,i guess: 1) is it bad that i chose Telus as the locked carrier when purchasing my unlock code? As the phone seems to like WIND Mobile (which causes me to believe it was locked to WIND after all)
And 2) or is it just that the ROM i have installed didnt come with the right radio code? Or no radio code adjustment at all?? Im not sure if radio is always a separate flash or not.
Any info would be appreciated... thanks

Shoot - i just learned in another forum that apparently WIND's band for 3g is 1700/2100mhz , where Rogers is 850/1900mhz.
So that may be my answer.... sorry about that.
Going to switch the milestone setting to 2g to see if that works.
Thanks! Any extra info is welcome ,however!

This was solved by flashing the below SBF file (using RSDLite on Windows)

After installing this, I tested the phone with Bell and Rogers SIM cards... nice clear signal and internet on both!!!!
Thanks everyone for your help. I hope others will find this useful.

Does anyone have any knowledge of working QPST? I bricked (yes I take full blame) my g/f's Vivid while trying to update to ICS. Just like various others on here it appears everything has been deleted from the phone....including the bootloader. But after a couple of days of working with it I have finally been able to get windows to recognize and install the qualcomm drivers. I have installed the latest copy of QPST and it recognizes the phone on com6 in download mode.
Does anyone have ANY IDEAS?? The sad thing for me is I traded my g/f's iPhone to get her this Vivid....so there is no way to exchange it under warranty. Any help would be appreciated.

QPST is for very very low level nand access, it can even change the partition tables, if i were u i would be EXTREMELY carefull using it.
I understand the dangers of using QPST......but being the phone is already bricked and there doesn't seem to be any way to resolve the issue without sending the phone back to HTC, I am willing to try. So, I ask again, does anyone know how to use QPST??
RIFF box is the only option!! I guess
I am online checking out the RIFF box....have you already ordered one?

No i dont , But I have a friend who does, else I wil just take it to Local HTC , im sure they can fix it !!!
Riffbox doesnt support our chipset.
You need to find the hex files for download mode in QPST and go from there.
OK. Do you have ANY idea where those can be found?

PMed.
To anyone looking for answers towards the QPST route:
Start googleing, I haven't the slightest clue where you'll come across the .hex files for our phone.
For anyone hoping that Riffbox will soon support our chipset:
I wouldn't hold my breath, HTC has started to implement "JTAG fuses" (Kinda like on the Xbox) so even if it was supported, your chance of JTAG access is very unlikely.

In otherwords, we don't have the phone firmware required (.hex and .mbn files which I neglected to put in my previous post). The Sensation, on the other hand, does.
Sensation firmware =/= Vivid firmware
Hi Travis , can we be atleast sure that HTC can fix it !!! I hope its not beyond REPAIR LOL
Bring the whole phone back to AT&T (at one of their warranty centers), you should at least have a one year warranty. Tell them that one day it just stopped working.
Even though your warranty may be voided, they won't be able to find that out if it's bricked. If they want to find out, they'd have to unbrick it first.
So, one of two things may happen:
1) They will not ask any questions and replace the phone.
2) They will put it under a deeper inspection, unbrick it, and say that they can't go any further because of the unlocked bootloader (but, the phone will not be bricked anymore and they'll just give it back to you).
This is only a theory haha, don't quote me and say it didn't work.
hope a fix can be found soon, I have one too
