[Request] LG Stock Facebook App? - LG Revolution

It may be a sin, but I really like the stock Facebook app from LG.
Anybody know where I can get it for use on GingerVolt 1.3?

Pull it out of a backup you already have and push it into /system I believe. The other more smarter people can elaborate on that though

Sns.apk
VS910 4G Kangwich

I was able to extract the SNS.APK using the method described here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=890336
When I try to install, however, I get the error "Application not installed".
Any ideas?

Try just placing it in /system/app/ and rebooting.

Did this work? I'm looking to put the lg social feeds back on but I can't get it yo connect. I'm not sure if pulling out a different version of the file would work or not. Any thoughts?

Actually, before I got my lazy self around to testing it, Facebook released the latest version of their app, which I really like, so I haven't given it a shot.

(request) My Verizon

My Verizon was updated today to version 10.0.3 breaking the version that we used to use for the thunderbolt. Can someone with a rooted phone snag the installation file out of their data/app folder for me after downloading the update? Thanks! Much appreciated.

Uninstall the update from settings/applications/manage applications, look in the "All" tab and click on My Verizon App. Should be an option to remove update. You can disable auto updates from the market so this doesn't happen again.
If that fails PM me. I have the original version in a zip.

That's not his problem I don't think... I think he means when they updated the app it made the app he was using not work anymore. He never downloaded the update. The update is what he's looking for

Software Update file

Hey
Where is the software update actually stored on the device? (The 8/4/2011 for the LG Revolution).
Once updated, can yo install CWM? Can it be rooted?
Just hang out, it will not install through cwm. Thecubed is going to be working on it.

I actually wanted to tinker with the Software Update file and see whats inside. I wanted to know where Android downloads it to on the filesystem.
I'm sure TheCubed will figure it out with CWM

Yes. I assume you don't have cwm if you updated?

What are you trying to find? You can adb pull whatever file you are wanting to check, then check it against the old file to see what has changed.

It possibly could install by changing it to a zip file but who knows what it would mess up. With recovery items in there it may mess up cwm, that is a little above me without doing more research into it.

He's right. Installing the update without removing some stuff from it first (like it's new boot.img and the "installrecovery.sh" script) would possibly softbrick your device.
Decrap2 will take a while to do since it's gonna take a lot of work to apply this update to my ROM (gotta flash back to stock and apply the OTA, then deodex and then remove bing all over again...)
i didn't have it installed on my phone when I updated the phone

I have two revolution devices.
One was stock (as if I bought it from a VZW store), the other one was with CWM.
The CWM with Decrap on it. (giving lots of issues with the launcher such as missing icons, etc)
Stock is on the latest LG update.
CWM is on the OEM release

I tried this method and the OTA again tried to install. It of course failed. I then bought Titanium Backup Pro and froze the Update app. No problems since. GV2.0 is working great!
If anyone doesnt want to buy an app to freeze software update i found an app on the market called App Quarantine its simple to use and its free. I havent had any notifications or issues with it.

Stock Android Browser?

Anybody know how to get the old stock Android browser on here? Chrome really blows. I can't seem to find any method that's universal, and those steps that are out there seem to require root. Help!

Well I guess all you would need is the apk and side load it. I use dolphin chrome was great at first but little things bother me like the double tap zoom in sucks. And the last update made it run like ****. I like my bookmarks being synced but then again it really isn't that big of a deal.
Can someone get the apk up? Not having extended controls is horrible. Is there another browser that has edge swiping to control browser?

I still can't seem to get the stock browser to install. Tried placing the file in system/app and data/app... Installed once and I saw the browser at one point then every subsequent launch of the app was met with a "unfortunately..." Crash message. Ugh. I've been dying to get a competent browser on this phone. Guess I'll need to keep waiting.

Make sure you set the permissions correctly. Once installed, clear data/cache on it before you run it.
Would this work with Adobe flash installation

What do you mean "set the permissions correctly"? I'm not modifying the permissions with anything, and it sets its own permissions upon installation.
I installed again and cleared data, brought up the signing into google screen then it crashes. Can't seem to get it to stay opened.
Works beautifully!

Could I get a little instruction here?
I've downloaded the above Browser.apk. I've tried installing it from the downloads folder. Fails. Tried pasting it into /data/app, can't install. Pasting into /system/app, can't install. Tried root app installer. It installs and initially loads with the "signing into gmail" popup. Then crashes and crashes every subsequent launch immediately.
I'm dying to get this browser on the phone. Pleeeeeaaaase, can I have some installation instructions?

Yep, confirmed via root checker. And I did wait for a minute after boot for it to register root as jcase said that it doesn't Register su for a few seconds or something, in case you were going to ask about that.
