It's that simple. I've been trying to find a solution to rooting my i9000m phone for months -- so far none work -- I am specifically looking for a solution to root a 2.2 phone from Bell's i9000m
Cheers
Download one click root to your computer. Put your phone into debugging mode from settings. Then plug ur phone to computer and click root. And thats it.... its that simple.
You can find super one click root from xda forum...

another method i used.. download either hardcore or cf root kernel..
and flash with odin.. for hardcore you need to then boot to recovery and select root from the menu.
cfroot is easier.. after powering up it will automatically root phone.
I used SuperOneClick as well. Turn your phone on, connect through USB to your computer but do not 'Mount SD Card', just connect the cable.
Open SuperOneClick, click Root, wait, reboot, done.
You need to enable usb debugging in settings for superoneclick to work.
Settings > Applications > Development > USB Debugging

Sorry but none of this works
I did USB debugging.
I did not mount sd card
I clicked root
It just says waiting for device -- then the entire program freezes and I have to ctrl alt delete to stop it
It doesn't work for me.
Flash a speedmod kernel with odin
http://touristinparadise.blogspot.com/2010/11/samsung-galaxy-s-download-speedmod.html
Root in recovery
dont open superoneclick 1st.
follow exactly like these
1. enable usb debugging mode
2. connect your phone via usb
3. wait till it finish install the drivers
4. open superoneclick..
5. root
Just flash any kernel and you're set. It's not that hard.

Flash stock, root again, install recovery, full wipe and then install rom.
have you tried z4root ?
All Android apps that can give you root donĀ“t work with our X8.
Flash 2.1 with Flashtool again, then flash the new baseband, and after that try to root again.
Enable USB Debugging and unknown sources on your phone, the click the root button (without having the phone connected to the PC).
Then, let SOC start the services, and plug your phone when it says "waiting for device, and then, after a few seconds, you should have root.
After the rooting process, let the program run the root-test, and then, reboot your phone.
This should do the trick.

"Waiting for device"

hi all
i have a problem with rooting.!
my phone bricked and i flashed 2.1.1.c.0.0.ftf
but now when i wanna root it with superoneclick or x8toolbox it stops at "waiting for device"
help me please.!
1) run superoneclick.exe as administrator
2) it is normal for it not to respond at first..try more times
3) if that doesn't work check if usb debugging is on?
enable usb debugging in settings
dont forget to install the drivers
usb debugging is enable

i already have them.!
Enable USB-Debugging and connect your phone to the computer (do NOT enable USB-Storage mode - connect in Charging mode!)
Start Flashtool and root with Flashtool ... for me this always worked more reliably than with SuperOneClick.
Same mine before, but what i do is take out the memory & just like a miracle i dont know why its work,i manage to root my phone without a sdcard, maybe because my sdcard has poor quality...
try remove battery b4 u plug it to comp..
its always works 4 me..
P.S. hold the back button until flashtool recognize it..
may be 15 secs is enough..
more than that,,repeat the procedures..
first time rooting my X8,,i got the same problem..
wih u luck
try to change User Account Control in windows ( disable it ) , restart windows and try again
root using flash tools is more easy
OK, try one of these things:
1.Run superoneclick/x8toolbox as admin on your PC
2.Use flashtool to root your device
3.if i donsnt respond, just wait for a few minutes, OR keep trying to run the programm
You will get their eventually
finally solved.!
the problem was with the drivers.!
i don't know why but i could do everything with drivers except rooting.!
thanks for replies.!
this is what finally worked for me, very easy.

No not like that. Try creating a file in /system.
I bet you don't have proper root. You can verify by copying a file to system using root explorer or changing dpi setting.
If you want to get full root you need to follow "clean install" from stunner post. Remember to flash abyss kernel 3.9 first before going back to gingerbread.
