Looks like the Revo. may be out of luck. Guess we will find out for sure in december when the official announcement is released.

LG + Verizon...Not giving us an update for a phone that's not even 6 months old...Say it ain't so. Since when have networks / manufacturers ever pulled such a stunt? It's almost like they expect us to throw out our perfectly good phone and buy an expensive replacement to get the latest OS updates.
But I'm sure we all know better than to think that might be the case.

They didn't mention ICS not coming to revolution, they mention what other phones going to be compatible beside the optimus line

I heard there was a deal T-Mobile was offering tonight on two of it's 4G phones, not sure if they were intending on G2X to be one of them or not. Anyone know anything more?
T-Mo has said that the G2x will be available on the 15th (online) and the 20th (in store). I doubt they'd offer a deal on a brand new phone days before it's set to be released.

There offering the mytouch4g for free, with ofc the 2 year contract. Offer ends on the 14th, seems to me there just making room for the g2x to stock and locking more people in b4 they know what's coming out. Ya not everyone knows what's coming out soon or reads xda developers.

This is the updated firmware that came out a few months ago. It is Android 2.2 but supposedly has an improved radio and some other improvements. So far it is unrootable. Rumor says Gingerbread will be out sometime in October then progress will continue on CyanogenMod 7 build that TheCubed is working on.
I upgraded to this, replied on the wrong thread but here are my findings..
I am in NE Ohio and my bars are mostly full and 4g doesn't switch to 3g at all in my house but only had this for an hour now.. speed test pings faster and first test at 10Mbps when usually lower at home. Will continue testing..
Going from airplane mode back to LTE seems quicker.. Less lag time when going in to mobile data that you have to wait for connectivity. I think I will stay with this for now. I also want the GB update (rumored this month) ASAP and don't want to wait for someone to post it, then I can try to root it myself. *Fingers Crossed*
While you can never completely trust what support people say...

They were pretty good about the news when it came to the froyo update for the ally so im hopeful itll be soon
So we've heard a couple of second-hand accounts of a release in mid-October and now the LG tech saying "soon." This is good, really. It's just so hard to wait, since this phone isn't fully functional without GB. Pretty much nothing can use the front-facing camera until this comes out

Just so everyone knows. The LG Esteem is the same exact phone as the LG Revolution. Just a different carrier and different OS. Myself and mtmichaelson have been trying to contact people who have the LG Esteem to get a system dump from them to make porting Gingerbread to our phones easier. Hopefully we should have something to tell you guys soon.
Woot! Keep it up guys!

I'm not even really worried about rooting it. I just want it on my phone! Lol!
Hey guys, just a quick update before going to bed for 2 hours of sleep, root has been accomplished! I was able to help get super user working properly after they were able to gain access. It has not been released to the masses, but will be soon. In return for a little bit of my assistance, I now have in my possession the full system dump and the boot.img from the gingerbread build on the esteem and will be working to see if it can somewhat easily be ported over.

As the story mentions June 30th is still "early" 2012. When you factor in standard att delays early 2012 can be early 2013 very quickly. They promised Gingerbread (Nexus S started shipping in December 2010) for the Captivate ... So when android 4.1 is shipping on phones start looking for 4.0 on the phones that shipped with 2.3.
</cynicism>
I really hope att changes their reputation with Android updates this year. I get sick of all my VZW friends pointing it out so often. Att put too many eggs in their iBasket, hopefully now they see the power of Android.
Sent from my Galaxy S II (i777)
We will get it sometime next year. I really highly doubt it will be early 2012, ATT just sucks with updates, if it was sprint, I would be more hopeful.

Yea the Thrill is getting the update to GB soon but look at How LONG it took LG to get it rolled out and than how long AT&T held it back so they could throw their garbage Bloatware onto the phone. Considering ICS is now released it was kind of a ridiculous move on both parties to even bother with GB.
But when will it recieve an unlocked boot loader?

When HTC allows it on HTC dev, or someone cracks it.
I doubt AT&T will be bad on updates for the Vivid, Android is currently their only way to spread LTE

Verizon finally replaced my revo with a bionic. I was tired of the revo screwing up so I said yes to it. Is the bionic any good? On their website it says Android 4.0 upgradable so I'm assuming I can upgrade to ICS on it or is that just for a later time?
I believe the bionic was actually a higher price point when the revo was still $199 or are they about similar phones?
The bionic is far better and has more development for it. No official ics yet though.

The only bad thing is its outdated. It was the first dual core processor phone for verizons 4G LTE that was delayed so many times. Its definetly and upgrade from the Revos hardware.
