Hello,
Does anyone have an Xperia X8 from o2 UK because I need the customization code for it as I would like to update to the original firmware from SE and I don't want either Generic or any other crap.
Thank you.
You can get the customization code by:
1. Lock the screen of your phone. Press the menu button (left button) so that the screen is lit but still locked.
2. Press the home (central button) and back (right button) in following sequence:
home-back-back-home-back-home-home-back
Try several times if you can not do it the first time. when successful secret menu will appear. Go to Service info->Software info and find "customization version"
It should be something like 1241-3708_R3A (this is my code, your will be different but the same format).

hello guys...i am a new user of Samsung galaxy note GT N700 and this is the first time i use a smartphone. My father bought it from a friend. Since i want to root the phone to get full access on it, i have encountered with a problem..
I cannot determine the kernel version, baseband, and firmware built on my phone. There is NO 'about phone' button in settings menu and i have search the entire phone for it. Is it okay to root my galaxy note without knowing these kernel etc info? i have tried to root my phone into Android OS ICS 4 using this way -->http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1936319 but stucked at the 'download mode' section which when i push those button, nothing happenned (i have turned off my phone and tried to enter download mode by pushing those button).
So, how can i determine those kernel version, baseband and firmware built on my phone? thanks for any helpful replies, guys..i'm in such a hurry because tommorrow i have to go back to my college...
There seems to be some weird issue at hand, try doing a factory reset to see if it returns.
*#8999*8376263# run this code in the dialer, it should return the software version and all other information.

In the above thread, does this method work with the stock sony Xperia T firmwares
please can you post your firmware version (stock only, no cm, no aokp or custom roms) and let me know
if it worked.
Basically I want to access my wifes phone and check her messages as she has been acting weird
I tried the service menu trick on her phone but it didn't work which means her phone has more up to date firmware i believe
EDIT found this

Just tried that for you, it didn't work; the Emergency dial screen wouldn't accept the *#*#73556673#*#* code.
The lock screen WAS disabled whilst the Demo was active but as pressing the power button to wake the screen was immediately rerunning the Demo I'm sure that would get noticed. (Xperia T firmware 9.1.A.1.141).
Might have time to test out the 2nd link you posted later.

1) Did the demo run?
2) Did you then press home button to go to the home screen?
3) Did you then bring up dialer and type in the demo code again to disable the demo?

In the video when the demo is running he taps it to bring up the home button, did this work on yours?
Thanks v much

1) The Demo ran when the phone was already unlocked and I typed in the code from the dialer - on first run it even prompts you that it will change the screen unlock password.
2) Yes pressing the home button went to the Home screen (at this point if you switch the screen off then back on the Demo reruns).
3) Yes I did.
The code doesn't seem to work at the Emergency Call screen on my Xperia T, or perhaps the phone he's using in the Video doesn't have the most current firmware.

It is possible you can test the zip file method?
I'm on my way to work now, I'll try the 2nd thread a little later. I'll have to try Method B in that thread because I don't currenty have CWM recovery on my phone which is required for Method A using the Zip file.

ahh ok, neither does her phone so that wont work.... never mind thanks for your help
Had a thought what if I flash an older version of firmware which has the service menu security hole?
Would just have simply plug her phone in, flash it, and then let it restart (wiping only cache and dalvik, if they are available in stock recovery)
So she won't lose any of her data and won't be any wiser?
hmmm....

I've tested a similar method on windows that worked on my T on JB.
all it needed was a
adb shell
su
rm /data/system/gesture.key

This of course has limitations, the device needs to be rooted and usb debugging must be enabled

Well I suspected that USB debugging would need to be enabled to use the B Method in that thread you linked and what Matt has said Tally's with this; I've now had time to try and can confirm this.
Matt's commands worked when I substituted 'password.key' instead of 'gesture.key' in the 3rd line (I had a PIN lock set) - 'gesture.key' seems to be for when a pattern lock is set, and 'password.key' for PIN lock.
Method B in that thread is missing the 'su' line that Matt has above, so failed with 'Permission Denied' when trying to delete the .key files - works once you add the su command.
Guys i just flash the 14.1.A.0.290 NCB firmware it runs good on my C6903 but my problem is when i press the power off button to unlock my phone in lock screen the lock screen will show for about 3.5 seconds.why it's taking it so long just to unlock the screen?...any solution or help will much be appreciated.thanks!
I sended you a PM.
Hello, everyone. I have searched basically every thread and looked up a lot up posts and couldn't solve the problem which is why I am creating a new thread. Apologies for the same.
So here's the problem on my Xperia Z C6602.
I am stuck on the lockscreen. Can't remember the pattern. Can't login through Google cos the Wifi and Data Connection is off. I tried the service menu code but it doesn't work, I'm updated to the latest version of Android. I can't update/repair phone through Sony Companion cos it says there is no software available. I used the flashtool but it says "Device cannot be officialy unlocked". I went through ADB and the phone connection is perfectly fine (got a 0.5s response) but I cannot unlock the bootloader as I get a FAILED message. I used the flashtool provided by Sony but my phone is recognized as locked and I can't do anything there either. I'm running out of options
Some help would be really appreciated. Thank you, kind people.

You can have a factory reset by pressing few times volume up/down (can't remember up or down) button to enter recovery when the phone is booting with SONY logo
While I was flashing using Sony flashtool flashing gets aborted,,,,drivers get installed perfectly,,,mobile is not booting,,,when I pressing power button it just vibrate at that 1 sec,,,,any other solution ,,,,rip for my English,,,,

I had same problem. I think you tried to unlock bootloader and relock it using wrong key.
Kindly follow the below steps.
DO NOT UNLOCK OR RELOCK WITH "fastboot"
use flashtool and go to relock bootloader.
upon locking reboot device.
if it do not boot, follow locking / unlocking twice or thrice..the tool must say "completed successfully"
reboot (automatically or manually)
It will work like charm. Do not go to service center, because those mules will look at screen and say "Display has gone" and it will cost RS 8000/- INR to get it repaired.
Cheers

Its been 4 days so you may have probably found a solution but just in case you haven't, here goes -
The other poster gave you a lot of info about bootloader unlocking but nowhere in your post have you mentioned anything about unlocking so I'll assume you are trying to recover from a bad flash or a malfunctioning system.
Which OS are you on?
Have you installed ZR (dogo) drivers along with fastboot/flashmode drivers?
Did you try another cable? Maybe another PC?
Are you letting go of the Volume button too soon before the flashing process begins?
Have you tried older firmware like KK or JB? For some reason I was having boot loop issues with stock LP just the other day so I flashed a KK firmware and it booted just fine. Even installed a custom MM rom later.

So true!
I once had an Xperia M that needed a power button replacement - they saw my phone had a custom ROM and told me they would have to "upgrade" the software whilst fixing the power button and with a straight face, gave me a number well north of 10K. I paid less to purchase the phone. It was the last time I ever went to a Sony service center.
Also I have unlocked 3-4 phones using Sony's procedure and I have had zero issues with fastboot. If I am not mistaken the unlock/relock option in FlashTool just automates the procedure so you don't have to type in those commands but either way fastboot mode/drivers are a necessity.
