Do anybody know why I cant transfer any mp3 to nexus s internal memory? I used Astro file manager , because want use some mp3 like ringtone melody, but my mda doesnt see it when it is saved on sd card. Any help or telephone must be unlocked for thi operation? THX
Pretty sure you need to be unlocked to access outside the sd card. You could try an app like ringdroid to create one of your mp3

does android support that file type natively, if it does on your SD card make folders media/ringtones or media /notifications
thx for help, second answer works

Hi All,
I am a newbie with Android,
So i decided to format the Internal SD, no problem.
After that my Internal SD had no Music(mp3) map..
So where do i have to put the mp3's ?
Thanks
It doesn't matter, that's what the media scanning is for. All your mp3s will show up in your music player.
I did already put the MP3's in the Internal SD map, but it doesnt show up at the phone MP3 player?
Format = Wipe Data .
jje
Can you explain me, what you want to tell me with Wipe data?
You have formatted the internal sd card yes .
if you format then you have wiped the data on that card .
Data from a formatted card may be recoverable using a tool like Recuva dependant upon the type of format .
jje
There is no Recuva for Mac OSx, but is there not another way without using a program?
Your phone is not a mac so i would google for a recovery program that works from a mac or try recovering from a Windows PC .
jje
I was talking about my iMac, there is no Rescuva for Mac OSx..
But i think there is another way without using program, because in the Internal SD there are few maps but not a map(s) for mp3,video..
damn !! you are so confusing lol, if you have formatted your internal sd card, you have wiped everything off it INCLUDING YOUR MUSIC !!!! if you want to try and get it back search google for ' recovery software for MAC'
if that is too much for you to take in and your brain cant handle the immense pressure of googling something, then just download your music again and put it back on the phone.
I am not that stupid mister!, i dont want the music or something else back, there is "no map for music/mp3".
If i put the MP3's in the Internal SD "map" self, they dont show up in the Music Player! so now you understand me?
well finally i understand lol........... BUT !!! whenever i put a song on to the sd card (not in any folder) my music player finds them.. What music player are you using ?? the stock one ??? i use winamp its much better
If i put the MP3's in the Internal SD "map" self, they dont show up in the Music Player! so now you understand me?
Eventually
Do you make a folder in your sd card for music.
Can you see the music in my files .
jje
Buy an external sd card and save yourself the hassel in the future..
Formatted again, and this time did it!
What the hell is a map?

Sometime when u booted up, your external card wasn't mounted. I can't find a solution other then performing a reboot.
Check under Settings -> SD card & phone storage, if your external card is available or unavailable.
It´s available 14,83 GB free ! Should the music files stores under music folder or just under external mem ? Must i transfer the files with LG suite IV or just drag/drop to external mem ?

Hmm it shouldn't matter where actually but I don't use Stock Music app so cannot confirm. I use PowerAMP. - my music files in ext sdcard.
If I remember correctly, I believe the stock music player only looks in the SD/media folder and all subfolders contained within. Can you locate the files using a file explorer program to verify they transfered correctly?
I think it doesn't matter which folder it is in. I have all my songs in a folder which I named "My Songs". And there's some more nested folders further down. They all gets recognised without any intervention from me. But the first scan took quite some time. Subsequent scans take only a couple of seconds.
Two ways media scanner will skip your folders.......
1. When your files in folder with folder name starting with "."
example, /.music <----- this folder will be skipped from scanning
2. When you have a ".nomedia" file inside a folder
I have solved it, thanks ! I am a noob, find out that _externalSD is not the real externalSD it is still on the phone, at last i find the 16gb external memory !!

Hey Guys:
After rooting my RAZR i phone using Batakang's .bat file, Google Play and any other music player that reads the default media library cannot find any songs.
I have read several posts for other phones where people remove the NOMEDIA files from the root of the External SD Card, Delete the application's data and cache and removing the music folder and then adding the music files to a new one, and unfortunately that has not worked for me so far.
On a side note, Titanium backup could not find any of the app backups I had previously created that were stored in the External SD Card.
Does this mean that apps are somehow "forced" to look into the Internal SD Card and cannot detect the External one?
Do I need to somehow "swap" the Storage denominations?
ASTRO and Other File managers can find these files without breaking a sweat, which leaves me puzzled.
Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
Hello again:
I tried lots of different things and was able to resolve my problem by formatting the SD card.
I hope didn't have to do that, but I was at my wits ends.
I can only conclude that there were NOMEDIA files somewhere in the SD card preventing a proper media library scan.

So,a problem my friend has on his i9000 antique .
First of all,hello everybody.
So,the thing is : He told me ,that recently he found he has much more internal memory free then on his SD card. So he decided to transfer all of his music to internal memory.
The thing is,not one of the music players recognise songs on his internal memory . He says that only poweramp recognises ,but he doesn't want it . The file explorer sees the files in internal memory thought. Conundrum it is .
Someone know whats the deal ? Thanks in advance guys .:fingers-crossed:

You should creat new folder name Music and move all songs to that folder. It work for me
Hi,
I'm feeling really stupid and I hope someone can make sense of this for me.
I've always been confused with the virtual paths that recent Android versions use in the file structure, and am having a hard backing up my SD card to my PC.
I actually want to copy this file:
/storage/emulated/0/AuthenticatorPlus/authplus.db
to my PC so I can copy it to a different device, but would like to a backup at the same time.
I inserted the card into my PC and copied everything onto the PC, only to discover that I couldn't find the folder or the file. Worse yet, I realized that while I have what looks like hundreds of folders on my SD card, I have exactly SEVEN in my backup folder on the PC.
And now I'm having a hard time matching up the files on the PC to those on the SD card. For example, I found a file in the Downloads folder on the PC. I found it on the SD card, but the path is given as
/storage/3737-3334/Downloads
Huh? Can someone make sense of this for me? How can I copy my authplus.db file to my PC, or better yet, back up my entire SD card and make the backup look like what I see on the card?
Thanks!
P.S. I just decided I'd try uploading the file to Dropbox and when I selected the SD card, Dropbox showed me the same folders I'm seeing on the PC! What am I looking at?

That's because /storage/emulated/0 is considered a virtual SD card meaning a fake SD card and this is usually where downloads go.. The other one /storage/3737-3334/ is the actual real SD card that you put in the phone yourself.. The SD cards name is 3737-3334 that's why it shows up like that.. Basically the system downloads everything on to the fake SD card and it's your choice to copy it and paste it into the real SD card because anything that's in the fake SD card will get erased if you have to factory reset or anything.. Both of them the fake SD card and real one should both have to close to the same folders in them like music, music pictures, pictures media, media etc. etc. You get it? You manually HAVE to move the files to your real SD card FIRST and then you can remove it and copy it.. Just highlight everything in the fake SD card and then copy it over to the real one it's really easy.

Wow, I've seen that 3737-3334 before but I have never heard this explanation. I knew we were dealing with virtual paths but had didn't know I had access to a location. This makes sense. Thank you!
