Since everyone has a different taste of how the status bar should look like here is simple guide how to do it.
What you need:
1) rooted device with CWM installed (for example per ChainfireĀ“s guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1331784)
2) extracted apk files "framework-res.apk", "SystemUI.apk" and twframework-res.apk (use any root explorer) located here:
framework-res.apk: system/framework
SystemUI.apk: system/app
twframework.apk: system/framework
Caution: to use it with particular ROM you need to extract these file from that particular ROM - does not (for me) work just to use core files (like for custom KKA ROM use original KKA stock ROM files)
3) go to UOT Kitchen http://uot.dakra.lt/kitchen/ and choose the features your status bar should include. Once your selection is done go to tab "file upload", choose on right side option "upload system files" and upload extracted file from step 2. Once they are fully uploaded, go to summary where you can check what is going to be cooked. Then just simply click"submit work to kitchen" and wait for compilation completion. Pick up your file, save it somewhere to your computer or phone. Then just use CWM to install it.
Note: I have not tried this for originally themed ROMs like ROWMO or Sheep ROM so I do not know whether it works.
Confirmed to work for Cassies ROM, MySam and stock ROMs so I guess the status bar customization should work for other (not AOSP) ROMs as well.
Good luck, Haddar

Just upload files as in step 2, leave other options untouched.
Thanks for the great guide. Can anyone tell me where to find the default MIUI statusbar icons? I haven't seen this in UOT Kitchen.
Thanks.
Unfortunately many of nice status bar icons are not "pickable" at UOT Kitchen. If there was an option to upload our own icon set it would be a good time to ask theme devĀ“s to post them somewhere here. But it is actually not ..... we probably need to use what is already there.
I've used this before but now I can't get it to work. I'm trying to use a boot animation and I'm setting the boot animation to Galaxy type, and the binary scripting to Galaxy. I did manage to change my status bar icons but a few of them didn't change.
I'm galaxy noteOK
In the status bar size option... What kind of size is to be selected? Because there is no option for 1200x800 pixels in the status bar size option... :O
And can you do a small tutorial on the 10 or 14 status bar toggles as there are on the samsung galaxy s2... Please if you can do this it shall be a great help!!! Thanks a lot!

How did you cure the bootloop???

BACKUP BEFORE YOU FLASH ANYTHING TO YOUR PHONE!!
That's how you cure bootloop. Then you just use 3-button combo to get into recovery mode and restore your backup.
This works! Finally found a way to get rid of that awful battery % mod on custom roms.

Hi, guys!
Can anyone confirm that it is impossible to make transparent the status bar on a Samsung device? I tried to cook a theme on the kitchen, but it did not work, only the entire status bar desapeared.
Any other options that you know?
Thanks in advance!

If you have any questions regarding my Black Status Bar Mod (Find it here), I have created a thread in which I can answer. The Black Bar Mod is for CyanogenMOD, but if there are requests for some other ROMs, please let me know.
just a random question: is there a tool that allows me to create my own bar without creating a whole theme? i want a bar that combines the elements of several different ones from diff ROMs..
Doc, are you gonna update your mod with Anderweb's new froyo launcher?

My login screen disappears after flashing the CM5.07 .zip file. Just to let you know. However i think i was supposed to metamorph the theme....
this is more of a request, but could u make a flashable bar for CM5.0.7test6? like the one in BlueDark? this is what it looks like:

ok.. right now i'm running Test6 with SuperBad1.2.5.. can i flash the BlueDark over that to get the bar? furthermore, will the launcher stay the same? i really like the smooth launcher in SuperBad
Make a metamorph with the status bar images in framework-res, then in CM5.0.7 test 7 you can change the text color in the status bar via spare parts.
in the new spareparts where we select text colors. what does the "SPN & PLMN" labels refer too?

It depends on what you want and where you want it. Certain changes require changes to the xml codebehind and some do not. It is not as easy as it may seem for the average user.
You have to use winrar to open the theme or rom you are using.go to the twframework-res.apk.open that DO NOT UN ZIP ANYTHING!! then look for status bar background.9 drag and drop onto desk top or folder whatever then edit in photoshop or whatever you have and put back save and put it back in the folder. If I can get by a computer today there is thread out the will tell you do to do it that is big help.I you have some problems I can do some editing for you but would have to wait until I get home I am out of town.oh and when you put the edit status backgroung.9 back into the zip file make sure it is stored and compressed

Along this same line of questioning........
All I want to do is remove the transparency from the notification drop down in my current rom / theme. Is there a single value in an xml file to adjust this feature?
It's a .png that you'll need to change the opacity of.

Thanks for the thread been looking for something like that but someone psoted somethign saying that you had to use a cpativate rom for it because the i9000 roms have different file types in them
Now there is theme kitchen, upload a apk and you can apply themes. Then after some time, you get a new apk in a cwm flashable zip.

I need a help. Could someone tell me where can I find a ROM for Samsung Galaxy S GT-i9000 without the clock in the status bar? I found some threads about how can I get rid of the clock in the status bar but I can`t really do that. Every time I am flashing the file the phone will not reboot till the end and vibrating. I tried on many ROMs (stock and custom) but was not successful? Help please
Clock as in what sort of clock round clockface or the stock android digital time .
jje
Stock Android digital clock. Sorry for not being precise in formulation.
You don't need a special rom for that. There are themes in the Themes and Apps forum which don't have the clock. Black Android comes to mind...

Thanks. The Black Android is not working. It makes dialer and other apps disappear but clock is there forever. Others the same. I have used the flash files that can be found on XDA but the phone will not reboot (vibrating).
Why a developers of custom ROMs do not want to exclude the stock Android clock in status bar? Is it that hard or there is only me who do not want to have a double clock when looking on the screen? Maybe someone did it already but I can`t find it?
Very sad. Nobody knows what ROM can it be? :-(
every Rom has the Clock...
because it only could be in the same colour as the status bar to make it disaper.. D
to remove it completly would be very hard..
Someone made a standalone mod to disable the clock in the status bar.
I remember trying it out, then reverting because i actually wanted to see the time while apps were in the foreground.
Check the Themes & Apps section.

Resolved
Thanks to "azzledazzle" for help and to all XDA developers and users.
"azzledazzle" gave me the file for JPY ROM.
This is step by step manual (partly copy-paste): This will work only for JPY ROMs
First of all you need to be rooted and deodexed.... (for that I used http://romkitchen.org/ Thanks to DocRambone, Stefunel, and all others. Sorry if did not mantioned others names. I am not a proffesional and do not want to offend someone from developers). How to install custom ROM you can find in XDA forum as I did.
Let`s continue....
1) extract the JPY_services_no_clock.zip
2) put the 'services.jar' on the root of your sd card...
3) Open up root explorer (free in market, but I did it with Super Manager)
4) go to sd card and copy the 'services.jar'
5) go into /system/framework and paste the 'services.jar' (also at the top of root explorer make sure you are mounted (R/W) if using Super Manager (turn on root access from settings of the Super Manager).
6) reboot the phone and that should be it....
Thanks again to all developers and users.

I. want to maybe NOT use the blue theme.
how do I go back to the regular theme and not the blue one....

Do you have the original LQ1 SystemUI.apk and framework-res.apk?
If yes,
- Use root explorer
- mount as rw at top left
- paste the SystemUI.apk at system/app
- After paste
- Press and hold that apk
- change permission to rw-r--r--
- framework-res.apk paste at system/framework
- it will freeze
- Force reboot with button combo (Power+Vol Up)
- Done
Do you have Nandroid backup before you flash this theme?
If yes,
- boot to recovery
- go to advance menu
- back up and restore
- restore.
Will restore to last you had back up.
or go to advance restore
- restore system
- done
If no Nandroid,
- Download the official LQ1
- Use mobile odin
- Open file and target to the LQ1.tar
- flash it
- done
Hope it help and happy flashing
thanks astrix.. I will have to do a reflash..
as I still haven't learned how to do a nandriod back up...
how's LQ2 is that worth flashing?
thanks again

A quick update:
Found the Notification Toggle app from the Play Store which does a very good job. Along with a large selection of some easy to use pull-down switches in the Notification Bar is a battery icon showing %. Actually very nice.
However, not being exactly what I was looking for I tried to use the OG Battery Icon Mod from XDA with my (mostly) stock (Odexed) ROM. It was unsuccessful.
Thinking it might be a problem with the Odexed ROM, I flashed CWM Recovery to replace my previous TWRP Recovery (for some reason the DeOdexed ROM des not flash with TWRP) and then flashed JMZ's DeOdexed v1.08 ROM. Unfortunately, I ended up the same failure when running the OGBattery Mod Tool (the tool was unable to download the systemui.apk).
Therefore, so far I am unable to make the UI modification, but am pleased to find the Notification Toggle App -- and with some help from Titanium Backup my phone is back where I wanted it, now running a DeOdexed ROM. I went back to TWRP Recovery. I have CWM on my A500 tablet, but TWRP just seems easier on the First.

Feeling adventurous, I downloaded your sense ROM & extracted it. In systemui.apk I see there are two (apparently duplicated) res folders and the sub-folders/files in res are also duplicated. Is this an error in the build or necessary as place-holders of sone kind. I thought I might try to replace the res folder in the deodexed ROM with this one, but it concerned me.

@jmk : After the confusion (to me) I tried a couple of more things:
1. Replaced systemui.apk in stock ROM with the systemui.apk from your Sense ROM. That did give me a Sense horizontal battery with %, but was too small to see. I was hoping for the percent circle.
2. I used UOT Kitchen to attempt to make the modifcation, but Kitchen returned a SHTF error, so no results yet.
Success!
I loaded & set up JMZ's Sense ROM with the icons I wanted, then copied systemUI.apk to the sdcard. After restoring my "stock" ROM I renamed the systemUI.apk in /system, then copied the one from the sdcard to /system & reset the permissions. I now have my desired battery icons!
@ jMZ: Thank you for the guidance. --Larry
