[BOOT] Eclipse CARBON Boot Animation (12.02.11) - Motorola Droid Bionic

Eclipse CARBON Boot Animation
Another alternative for the Eclipse ROM, inspired by lifebeginsfriday's new Carbon Red Bliss theme for Eclipse, which can be found over at RootzWiki
Thanks goes to nitroglycerin33 for the sweet ROM and the custom font, and lifebeginsfriday for the theme idea. Also, thanks to Versatile1 for help with the flashable .zip

AS ALWAYS...
I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANYTHING THAT HAPPENS TO YOUR PHONE AS A RESULT OF USING THIS CONTENT, JUST AS IT IS NO ONE ELSES FAULT FOR ANY DAMAGE I MIGHT DO TO MINE. IF YOU DO NOT KNOW THE RISKS INVOLVED, YA MIGHT JUST BE BETTER OFF STICKING WITH STOCK. It's not that complicated, just do a little research. Plenty of knowledge floating around XDA...
Simple enough:
1:: download the .zip
2:: rename it (using ES File Explorer or Astro or any ROOT EXPLORER that will allow you to MOUNT SYSTEM AS WRITABLE) by simply cutting out the description so that it is just bootanimation.zip
3:: copy or cut the bootanimation.zip and paste it in the system/media folder
4:: you will be warned that the merge will overwrite the existing file and that the world will end (not really, just accept the merge)
REBOOT
UPDATE: 12.4.11
- Added flashable .zip version, below...PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU DO NOT FLASH THE WRONG ONE...if you do, refer to the disclaimer above

[Q] Port Gingerbread Animations to CyanogenMod 7

Hey Guys,
I have been running CyanogenMod 7 on my Milestone for a while now, and I love it! But I do think it could do with a little bit more of eye candy. So I was wondering, is there anyway to port the gingerbread window animations to CyanogenMod?
I have tried a few Metamorph tricks, but wasn't successful. I also heard about an app called AnimMod which is supposed to do this, but I cant try it out as I am not allowed to buy paid apps in my country. So, I would be glad if anyone posted a link to a working procedure for changing the window animations.
All windows animations are in the framework-res.apk under the res/anim folder.
You can replace those with the GB animation files and apply again. Please note that you need to replace only those that are there in both the framework files.
[email protected]
Thanks for the answer.
Where can I find the gingerbread animation files? I dont have the gingerbread ROM, so would it be possible to download the files from some place.
Also, I am curious to know, why weren't these animations implemented in the CyanogenMod in the first place. I would have thought most people would appreciate the better animations of Gingerbread.
Edit: I just watched a walkthrough, and it seems that the animations in CyanogenMod are the same as those in Gingerbread. Still, it would be nice to know where I can find some new animation files
Wow I forgot that I put this together.
I named it FlyIn_FlipOut because I combined the Flying animation with the Flip Animation.
I actually spent alot of time on it pinpointing specific things which was a pain in the ass.
Anyway, it's attached.
I hope that somebody thinks that it's neat
I have attached the animation xml files for the following animation effects.
Flip
Fold
Flying
Bounce
Blur
FroyoMOD ( animations found in Luca's FroyoMOD )
All you need to do is to copy it into the folder that i mentioned in the previous post and apply it again.
Thanks Guys.
I need some more info on how to do this thing properly:
1. Where is the framework-res.apk located? I found one in the system/ framework folder but it is named as framerwork-res-mot.apk.
2. How do i change the files? and finally how do i install the apk.
In short, it would be great if you could post the steps to modify CyanogenMod to incorporate the new animations.
@zeppelinrox: Good thing you came across this post then.
Anim mod is an easy way, i use it all the time
note\ require root and busy box installed
Goodluck
Good app. Does what I wanted.
I wud still like to try out zeppelinrox's version of the animation. So could someone pls post how I could do that.

Download the theme updater flashable template zip file from here.
Download and extract the contents of the zip file provided by Zeppe to your desktop.
Your framework-res.apk is in your /system/framework folder. Using 7zip or winzip, open framework-res.apk and replace the animation files in the /res/anim folder.
Copy the framework-res.apk into the /system/framework folder of the theme updater template zip file. Copy the template zip file into openrecovery/updates folder and apply in AOR after wiping dalvik/cache.

[BOOT ANIMATION] Modern Warfare 3 Teaser -

This may not be the best looking boot animation, as it's just a combination from the teaser trailer on YouTube.
It's looped and will just replay. This is my first boot animation....first of anything in this sorts. Going to do a complete overhaul this week of it, so please refrain from flaming this noob . In Xbox terms...I'm a scrub
Here is the video I made of it as a preview:
Download Link: http://www.mediafire.com/?oudaa6nmcjbaloy (15MB) I know...it's HUGE.
Instructions:
-Backup current bootanimation.zip to bootanimation.zip.bak
-Download and copy the MW3 boot animation and paste it to system/media and change permissions
-Reboot
Another GREAT boot animation, but for the wildfire can be found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1006336 It's sick.

hey can you tell me what the settings are you used to make the .zip i know it has to be zero compression but what settings are the images and the .txt file
as i have tried a few ones i made myself but they just dont show up

I used WinZip. I highlighted all my files(pictures tthat are in the two different folders you're using to store photos ,and desc.txt file- right click and choose: add to archive and make sure the setting is set to 'store'.
I used 256 x 256 (PNG FILES) The same dimensions as the animation in Cyanogen Mod. My current project uses a different resolution than my current.
When you play the YouTube video, you will see an annotation that leads you to my newest boot animation, that is the video sshowing the boot animation running at different res.
Download my ananimation and extract the files to you desktop. Take the desc file and the names of the folders, and put them on your desktop. The desc.txt file will have your settings and you can just change them.accordingly to your devices dimensions or FPS you want your animation to run at.
Did this help?

Yes. depending on the dimensions of your phones screen, you wont have a problem.
rename your current bootanimation.zip to bootanimation.zip.Bak..
Flash my boot ani and test it. If not, you'll still have the stock bootani.
Or you simply put tthe bootani in system/data where your initial boot animation was/is.

[REQ] Transition animations

I was wondering if any kind soul could make it possible to provide flashable zips to change the transition animations on our phones. I know that Adrynalyne had some cool transition animations on some versions of his SuperClean Rom, but I would like to continue this. Also, in particular, if it's possible to have a screen rotation animation I would love to have that also. Thanks!
The only way would be to either have metamorf files (which someone posted here a very long time ago) of the different animations or have multiple zips that only include framework-res.apk. The animations are controlled by xmls located in framework-res.apk/res/anim. I myself for my personal theme have created a nice cocktail of the various types of animation xmls used tasefully for various ui events and actions.
good day.
There is an app on the market. Ani something....I'll find it. I have it on backup

Saw that app, and a couple of fascinate users comment that it boot looped them. If that app swaps out the "whole" anim folder within the apk and if you're running comm rom or the newer sbrissen mods it will surely boot loop you. 7 xml's pertaining to the lockscreens have been added by sbrissen to that anim folder and if those get deleted by an app replacing the whole anim folder within the framework it will certainly lead to trouble.
good day.
Works fine for me. No boot loops on CommRom 2.1.

Actually there is a way to patch basically any apk or jar file on the phone through a flashable zip. I have been doing exactly that so that I can maintain mods between upgrades.
An anim patch would be very easy to apply without breaking anything. But as chopper the dog stated, if you mess with or delete others then there will be issues.
Anyhow if interested I can put together a basic anim patch for testing or I can share a readily available anim patch for cm7 (mtd, possibly miui as well) as proof of concept. From there you could modify what you want patched to your liking and the updater-script for (rfs) if needed.
Of course this is something that only myself have used, so it would come with no guarantee's. Would be interesting to see how compatible it would be or better yet how far it could be taken. I have replaced resource's this way without issue.

It would be great if you could get this tested by a few brave individuals. If you want, you can use my thread or make another one. I personally need the stability of Comm Rom for everyday use of my phone so I won't be going to CM7 until some of the signal, SOD, and calling issues are addressed. The AnimMod app works great but I would like to see a larger compilation of transition animations to choose from. We could even stick these zips in the theme sticky . Also what about screen rotation animations? Is this possible? Thanks for answering my call to god!

Those SOD issues were a blessing in disguise.. lol
Not completely familiar with screen rotation animations. A quick search states there used to be what they called fancy animations in android 1.5 but no longer added after. I could be wrong this is my first android phone, so I don't know the history. Anyhow there are some slightly rotating anims in the patch.
Ok, so this is what is going on..
An apk is just a zip file with an .apk extension. So what I am doing is utilizing a zip binary that is copied to a temp location along with some very basic commands. With these commands its basically injecting the structure of the res folder in the patch, to your framework.
Therefor you can use this to inject basically anything as long as you follow the structure. As stated before I have changed resource level items such as colors without issue. Just be advised if you change out any id's from public.xml and many others it will end in failure. This can also be modified to patch any apk or even jar files. It can also be modified to make a cwm zip of your current rom, data apps etc... The list go's on!
So in a sum, the zip will copy a zip & zipalign binary along with the script and patch files to /tmp. The script will kick in and as an added bonus (incase anything go's wrong) will make a backup of your existing framework-res.apk and create a cwm zip and place it on the root of your sdcard called notta-anim-patch-restore.zip. This zip can be flashed to restore the previous state.
Then utilizing the zip binary, will inject the patch files zipalign and ovewrite your /system/framework/framework-res.apk. In this case a set of animations. I hope this is a satisfactory explanation.
As with anything you flash, you do it you except responsibility. Also I have personally tested this one ukb 2.1. This should work with any touchwiz fascinate rom, well anything with a system location at "stl9".

[UPDATED 04/01/12] [OFFICIAL] Team EOS Boot Animations

As promised, I will be releasing animations regularly. Here are links to each:
1. Draw-On Graffiti Style Animation (The original from this post)
2. Team EOS Silver 3D Text Animation (A <2mb Replacement Quick Render)
3. Team EOS New Logo Design Animation! A first look at our new logo! (Full Animation) [NEW 04/01/12]
Artists! Design your own styled EOS themed animations. We have a skilled community and I'm sure you guys could come up with some great ones! They should be no larger than 12mb (at the most) and be verified working. Post them to this thread and I will add them here. Who knows, yours may end up in a later release!
To replace the stock zip use a market app like BAC orrr:
(this assumes that you are running a rooted aosp-sourced build and understand how to manipulate the filesystem in r/w)
Make backups of your bootanimation.zip file(s):
Check both /data/local and /system/media
1. Rename the downloaded animation file to bootanimation.zip
2. Check /data/local and delete bootanimation.zip if it exists.
3. Enter /system/media, delete bootanimation.zip, and move the new zip into its place.
4. Reboot the system.
If it borks it will either revert back to the shiny android text sequence and boot fine
OR
loop endlessly (could look fine could look crazy distorted, no matter) and still boot fine...with the exception that nothing will work.
If this happens, connect to the adb shell as superuser, list processes, and kill the bootanimation process. Revert your animation, report it to the designer and live happily ever after.

I did the same thing and ran into the same problem. I had to reboot into recovery and restore a previous nandroid. The boot animation looked cool, just not sure what the issue is. I sat there for 5+ minutes looking at "for science!".
to be honest guys there's two things I changed - firstly, we're running our build of ICS. Secondly, I'm using jpegs to reduce size. Nothing else has changed, and to be honest I've had this animation as well as others act unpredictably and work sometimes and loop others after copying over the *exact* same animation. I will do more research also, and any trials and error data would be helpful.
Quick side question: are you guys who are having loops using titanium backup, using the setup initiated google backup/restore, and/or running a security app such as Webroot on your tablets?
Also, are you copying these manually or using an app and to which location?

I'm using root explorer to push the bootanimation.zip to data/local directory... I do have titanium backup, but I only use it for user apps, not system, and I'm not using the google backup service or any kind of security app... Hope you get this working soon, really like this bootanimation. and thanks for taking the time to look into it...
OK everyone, turns out I made a mistake with my finalized formatting that I use. Here is the link to a proper working boot animation with the proper format. I will also update the link in the first post.

Oh, and for submitted animations, the specifications are:
-PNG or JPG Sequences
-704 x 440 size
-desc.txt should be 1408 880 24
also - the images must all have a border of deadspace static pixels.
You may use the template I posted here

[Collection]Boot Animations - 1080x1920 - HTC ONE

This will be a thread collection of custom boot animations for everyone to share with each other.
Fell free to post any you like, make sure it is 1080x1920!
In most roms (not every), the boot/down animations will go in: system/customize/resource
They will also have to be renamed like this:
hTC_bootup_one.zip
hTC_downanimation.zip

I believe this will change once 4.2.2 is out. I will update this post when the new update rolls out.
To Setup Custom Boot Animation
1.) Download boot/down animation of choice (1080x1920)
2.) Download a root file explorer (es file explorer, root explorer)
3.) Copy the boot animation zip file
4.) Navigate to /system/customize/resource with explorer
5.) Paste zip file
6.) Rename old boot/down animation with .bak at the end
7.) Rename new boot/down animation
I will start first and post what I have been using for boot/down animations.
This is a Beats Audio animation. The same one that comes with viperROM just without the viper part.
If this starts to grow I can even turn this OP into a list and get everything organized to help everyone find stuff a little easier.
Thanks for starting this man!

Attached is one I love. Gonna be making it a bit cleaner and such, however, I did not make the original images. I simply modified it to be 1080 1920 with a 20 fps rate. I also increased the resolution of the original images slightly.
Enjoy.

I've attempted to use these in lieu of Sprint's boot animations. But after a reboot, both of Sprint's animations have overwritten the one's that I've replaced them with. How do I prevent that from happening?
Thanks!
What rom? Did you delete the sprint ones and rename the new ones to match whats in the default.xml in the CID folder(system/customize/CID)

Yes, I was attempting to overwrite the files (m7_spcs_*) in a stock ROM. So, noob here... what is 'system wp'?
Thanks!

Testing out a custom boot animation I made
I am going to post the link to the android file host. The file is still quite large at the moment, 25 megs ( i need to lower the size of the jpeg files) . I am just trying to get someone else besides me to check the thing out before I start finalizing it. Any feedback appreciated!
Spiderman boot animation
I might be able to give it a look over for you later today

Thanks for doing that for me. For some reason it seems so much shorter to me now lol. I might make it do the lightning a couple more times. If you can explain the desc file for the layout i would greatly appreciate it
Sure hit me up later and I'll help out (nope same speed and length just smaller file and arrangement little different)
