i just got my tab sgh-i987, i've been searching around and cant find the thread that shows how to root it. Any help would be greatful.

i found a thread to root it, but it says i have to download the KIES file, the link brings me to samsungs website but my device isnt listed, all the model numbers that they list begin with GT. which one do i use?

I've had a little search around on the forum but I can't seem to get a (laymans) answer.
I want to flash back to Orange Branded firmware on my SGS but I can't seem to find the correct one. I have a 'stock' firmware on my phone at the moment but I'd like to go back to Orange Branded (before my boss finds out I've been messing about with the mobile again haha)
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

go to site i will pm you the link and download the fus downloader
then open program choose phone model and region, then check firmware the download option will then come up
download and flash with odin or other flasher

It downloaded the firmware and appeared to flash it OK through Odin but then it brings up an error (Error in cache/recovery/sec_csc.zip) then it aborts.
Confusion!
Odin can be temperamental, have you tried a few times, with a couple of hours between, also possibly another computer?
Have you downloaded all files?
If you only have one, go inside that file and look for a csc folder, is there anything inside that folder? If its missing your probably missing another part
It's ok now. i've flashed the phone with Stock Firmware in the hope that Orange won't shaft me. The phone is returned and I've got a replacement now.
Hurrendous the amount of **** that comes on Orange SGS isn't it. Thank god I can hide all them crappy apps with launcherpro else I'd be fiddling with it again haha

I soft bricked my tab and when I go to sammobile firmwares, mine is missing..
I need P1000BUJI5 and it is not there...it is listed but the file doesn't exist any more..
where can I find it, please help
search for fus updater, is a free downloadable program that searches your laest firmware and lets you download it for you to flash... works jus like samsung kies in terms of firmware upgrade.
I managed to resolve it using one click unbrick

I have just managed to root my old LG P880/4xHD using advice from this forum. Thought I would try on an old phone first. One reason I tried is because I cannot update Android via the usual About phone, Software updates, Check now for updates. The Android version installed is 4.0.3. I am in Australia and it is possible the phone is an overseas model (got it from a friend in LG). Has "Not for Resale" stamped inside the back cover. When I try to update Android, I get an error message "Registered Error - Your device is not registered yet." I had hoped rooting would get around this but it hasn't. Have looked up old forum posts and there is talk of using .kdz files and all sorts of other things. Can anyone help me get around this registration issue but please be aware I am a novice and most of the older posts I read, I couldn't understand, so simple explanations please. Thanks, Peter

it is a development edition not a consumer edition. read here .
dont try anything else than root if u dont have good knowledge or u will trash the phone.
ok ill try and do as best as i can 1st time posting but i really need help and admins if im in the wrong section sorry im new to this......
ok i bought a vzw samsung galaxy s8 64 gig G950u of offerup and the phone was unlock no password so when i got home i factory reset it and had this google account setup and i didnt know it and the guy wont anwser my emails (RIP me) anyways that was about 5 weeks ago and i keep on checking teh IMIE # but it hasnt been reported stolen or lost check today andways so i started reading and seen i can install this factory binary to get teh google account ff then install the oem back on there the problem it fails everytime on 7.0 and 8.0 and yes im using the AP.,BL.,CP.,CSC. files and odin3 3.12.7 and even tried odin3 3.13.1
ive tried going in download mode and restarted then back in tryed just the AP file but everytime it fails and when phone restarts always loads Factory binary mode

There are many guides spread across the general forums on this matter We have a wonderful search bar at the top of every page that can find just about any thing in each specific device area or specific thread with many pages
