not good so far
idle time increased thus far but screen on not so much better (avg max 4hrs @2% battery with stock) im at 4hrs with 30% with this....not much improvement yet...this is second charge
been running oxygen 2.3.2 with matr1x 11.5 with deep idle on, flashing bln with smartass v2 with 200/1000mhz
Are you undervolting as well?
For example at 100mhz I undervolt to 875. I usually get over a day or charge with regular use (8am to 9pm) before I usually plug it in.
My Setup:
Cyanogen Kangs (Nightly) CM7
Netarchy 1.4.1 CFS with Deep Idle
SetCPU
Set CPU Settings:
OnDemand
OC to 1.3Ghz @ 1475
100mhz @ 875
Screen Brightness on DIM/Auto
Using Stock Launcher as ADW hogs CPU for me and is slow scrolling.
Usually have WiFi on.
Always connected to 3G, usually no HSPA due to coverage issues in my area.
Typical usage:
1. No phone calls. Rarely do I ever call anyone or receive a call.
2. Constantly on GTalk.
3. Constantly on FaceBook and FaceBook Messenger.
4. Periodically using E-mail.
5. No Browser usage.
6. No game play.
7. Always turn screen off right away after I'm done using the phone.
I'm on stock battery. Around 9pm at night the battery is about 20-30% showing.
no undervolt
usage is too variable to say lol but screen on is avg 2hrs when home 3g only since its unlimited i see no need to use wifi.
usually usage goes up on weekends when im out on avg 4hrs screen on time.
brightness is at DIM unless i need to use it outside in the middle of the day but with work and daylight ending quickly no need lol
usually no games just texting email and browsing
kinda made no sense right?
Edit after a 9hr full charge this will be number 3
Gotcha.
Yeah if you're running stock voltages and software you're going to burn through the battery no matter what.
I'm wondering if you have any apps running in the background or a stuck process as well that may be chewing up battery life.
FaceBook and Google Maps are the worst drain I find.
You do not seem to be doing/using it anymore than me honestly.
I make sure facebook isnt active
and I do not see anything out the ordinary
I figured even with stock voltages I would get at least 2x battery life just given pure MAH
during the first charge something called gpsd was chewing up 75% cpu could not close it had to reboot has not appeared again
I purchased the 2x battery. I forgot that I bid .99 on one...5 days later checking eBay and I won for .99!
4.99 shipping but hey, under 6 I can't beat it! Should be here Friday.

SNS is a supermodel! Why would you want to replace it's backside? An extended life battery is nice... but at what cost??!? (and dont say $20)
$6!

edit: 4th charge only got up to 6hrs at 10%
Here's my $6 battery
Only downside is the fit on the backplate. Not a good contour. Like it was built for a flat phone. I am going to order a seidio backplate for $15 and call it perfect.

ive had a nexus one since the day it came put and since upgrading to froyo and now 2.2.1 my battery lifes been horrible. my normal settings are no wifi or bluetooth on. no sync. im running uv kernels and my battery life is still horrible. i recently sent my nexus to htc thinking it was a hardware problem. the new nexus dies just as fast. ive almost literally looked at every battery life thread and tried tips and still doesnt help. my phone doesnt last 8 hours let alone 24 hours. ive checked my battery use and the only thing over 10 percent is my display which im using auto brightness. any help would be so greatful because ive tried everything i know how to do

already replaced the battery before i got the new phone.
Dude same here. It's obvious the N1 is lacking in battery technology. What new phones are you considering?
that's definitely a dead battery, I've got my Nexus One since 2nd March and keep using it till now, still there is 92% of usable capacity.
Check the battery cal thread. We just finally hacked the nexus battery EEPROM chip and can tweak voltage etc. The changes got merged this week. So maybe some hope still...
well these things can definitely kill the battery extremely quickly if you use them a lot.
i personally don't have a problem with the battery life on mine on a normal work day because i only use it probably on average 5-10 min an hour for a 9 hour work day and by then i'm usually at 50-65% battery depending on how much i used my phone.
if you suspect that the phone is the problem and not the battery then try downloading currentwidget its a small widget that will tell you exactly how much power your phone is using in miliamps. it takes about 1 min for it to refresh so it does not work in real time but this is kind of nice because it allows you to see how much power its taking (or receiving if its on the charger) when its in idle
mine usually reads 3-5 mA when i unlock it so that is what its taking when its in sleep mode.
the most i've ever seen it take when draining the battery is about 465mA i would say that the average drain when i'm using it for browsing websites and using simple apps with the screen at half brightness is about 350-400ma or so
one thing is for sure though if you use an N1 heavily it can and will kill the battery in a matter of hours, if i play angry birds for example with my screen on half brightness after a few hours i'm at about 20-30% battery easily and the phone itself is very warm from the constant CPU use.
and btw the bad battery life is the combination of the AMOLED that takes massive power compared to an LCD and the 1st gen Snapdragon CPU clocked at 1ghz, battery life without the screen on and with minimal CPU use like streaming music for example or playing music with BT headphones i can go all day easily. it only drains like 5% an hour maybe a tad more but the difference is that the CPU is not working very hard and the screen is off completely.
AMOLED using more than LCD? What did you smoke mate? ^^
AMOLEDs have been made for low power consumption, especially for black colors...no way it uses more battery than my SLCD variant...

they can take less power with the proper screens yes, they are dynamic in their power consumption like plasma's are in that how much power they use is directly related to what they are displaying and what the brightness (or contrast in the case of plasma's) is set at.
LCD's are predictable and constant with their power drain.
AMOLED's are capable of consuming more power than LCD's of the same size if given the right display material (mostly white, mostly brightly lit content)
considering that most of the websites and even some apps i use on my nexus have white backgrounds it explains why my screen pulls so much power when i'm using it

There was a test done somewhere that showed that all the phones with AMOLED variants did the worst in battery life. Best battery? Droid x
true, white on white, amoled does use more battery...but meh...argh it killed my point xD
haha yeah you're right I guess Websites should have black background and green text, just like my terminal, gmail, etc. meh ^^

that sounds jsut like my phone. 5 to 10 minutes of use an hour and im at 60 percent. that cant be normal! angry birds for 10 minutes is like 8 percent battery loss. like i said i got a new battery for my old nexus one then noticed that the "issue" still existed so i got a new nexus one and my phone still dies rapidly. why is it that some nexus ones are better. i hear people say they get excellent battery life and to me on a brand new nexus one with a uv kernel my battery life is still horrible?
It's normal there is nothing wrong with your nexus one they suck battery if you use them heavily

added bulk doesnt bother me.......
but if i can find a nice oem 1500 or 1800mah battery id like comparisons as well
plus the 3500mah on ebay
I had the Acase 3500mah battery, and it was awful. I got much better life out of the stock 1300 that came with the dinc. I have a couple of the OEM 1800mah coming early this week. I'll post back with my impressions.
where did you order them
I have the 2150..1800 from chichitec on eBay and of course..the stock. The 1800 is nice but I can't go a whole day (I am somewhat of a heavy user). The 2150 is my everyday battery...I can easily go nearly 2 days and I like the added bulk! As for the stock battery...I don't even know where it is. Running Athena withstock kernal

That's where I got my 1x1800 from.
Gives me SUPER battery life now.
It's like sex compared to stock.
bulk is one thing but actually looking ugly is another. I bought it about 5 months ago, used it for a few hours, and it sits in my closet in the exact same place i left it. Its just not a good design. I recommend the 1800mah INC/Evo battery, its $19.99. Im using this and Lou's #8 or #9 and am getting the best batt life ever.
Got my 1800's. Charging one in the wall charger that came with it, to make sure it gets a full charge. Then, I'll throw it in my dinc, clear the batt stats and condition it throughout the week. I'll have a final verdict by the weekend, I hope.
I just sold my Incredible but OEMs are always the best. I can send you mine $30 shipped. OEM 2150 from Verizon.
I use an 1800 and it increased my battery about 40% I'd say, which is what I was expecting. I can't really complain about it

I have the 2150 OEM battery and it's really great. I also like the extra bulk, and with a red hard rubber case from this place:
http://htcpedia.com/news/case-cover-htc-droid-incredible-extended-batteryc.html
It looks really nice with the case, I can hold it easier, still slides right into my pocket and have absolutely no complaints about the upgrade.
With the case I find myself not accidentally touching the volume buttons on the side also.
So far my best battery life has been 86 hours with this battery, but since then I've upgraded my ROM and Kernel, so I'm in the process of doing a another test without a charge until it dies.
So far: 2days, 19hours with 49% left - so things are looking good
3 days of idle time. That's not really a good judge of battery life.

not entirely. 3G, GPS and location are all on. I've spent a good 45 minutes texting, 30 for calls, 10 minutes playing angry birds and 15 on nav.
Not normal usage but I'm wanting to see how long it can go with light use.
Normal use I'll end the day with a good 50-60% left depending how long I run the GPS on My Tracks and Pandora streaming.
With screen off it's somewhere around 1-2 hours per %.
Battery life depends heavily on use. I get just about 24 hrs +/- on my 2150 on a normal day. The more I use the less it lasts. The less I use the longer it goes. That's whyI say its hard to judge battery life. So when I see you're getting 2+ days, I automatically think idle time. Same with my 1500. I can easily pull off 24 hrs with limited use and 2 nights of sleep in the equation.

That's true. Services like 3G, GPS as well as ROM type and especially Kernel type impact battery life pretty hard too as I'm sure you know.
It's hard to judge life off of other peoples estimates, I always take other peoples estimate on battery life lightly because of all the variables included, not to mention they could have left out a few major details that impacted the life of the charge.
I'm just putting my results out there though, it's nice to know if I get stuck somewhere without a charger that my phone will be able to last that long if I can remind myself not to constantly use it to stream music or watch videos lol

Yeah it does. I always keep WiFi on (whether it's connected or not) GPS, and location settings. Data sync I toggle manually because that can shorten your battery even more.
Kernel settings are the most important. I have my phone set to 128MHz when the screen is off and a min of 245MHz when it's on (Smartass settings).
Hey guys! I just thought that I would let you in on my experience with the 2150 mah extended battery by verizon. I am still in school and I get pretty terrible service throughout the building. time without signal ends up to be at 60 % I wake up at 6 get up take A shower... Unplugged by 7 play some games... Listen to music almost all day. Send 100 ish texts. when I get home at 225 its still at 75 % I get 2 days out of it with hard usage. I use ultimate juice and have 3g on all day.

I'm hoping that my 2150 will come to life in the next few days. As of yesterday with moderate usage I ended up plugging my phone in at about 10:30 and that was because the battery was at 27%. I unplugged it at 6am yest and played a couple of YouTube videos, made a few calls(the longest being 23mins), sent hundreds of text messages and a few emails. I didn't do any gaming and had wifi, gps turned off and the brightness at about 1/2 way. With these setting and usage, I should be able to get 2 days or atleast a day and a half of battery life. As of right now I unplugged my phone at 6:17am and made a 7min phone call and I'm sitting at 87%. I turned the screen brightness down to 0 to see if that help, but I shouldn't have to turn everything off and screen brightness to 0 from what I've read. If this batt doesnt improve in the next few days, I'm gonna go with a cheap 3500 from eBay.

Update: well, my 2150 is running much better after two charge/discharge cycles. I unplugged my phone today at 6:00am after bump charging it and as of 8:11pm its at 71%. Nice! That's leaving the screen brightness on at 50% and playing games for a total of 30mins plus a few phone calls and my normal texting throughout the day. I'm happy with the battery so far.

Thought I'd give an update on my vzm 2150 battery.
It's by far out lasting the stock battery and it seems to be getting better with every charge. Yesterday I made several phone calls, sent about 500 text messages, made several online purchases, played angry birds and a few other games for a total of one hour, browsed online for a while, streamed fm radio and Pandora for a total of 30 mins and have the screen brightness set to 50%. When I got home that night at 11:30 I was at 27% battery life left and that was unplugging my phone at 6:00 am. So far this batter is awesome.

I recently got this battery here's my experience
Firstly, I did get mine for free from verizon. Tip (tell the rep about how your phone dies quick then the phone's led blinks amber when you plug it in.) Secondly, I am running CM7 latest nightlies with the governor set to performance, overclocked, screen brightness is auto, wifi off 90% of the time, bluetooth and gps on 100%.
Here is my usage on a typical work day
I use pandora probably for at least 3 hours a day with bluetooth connected (keep in mind that I use the high quality music setting and turn off the auto screen lock so the screen is on that whole time. I will typically need to use gps for about 15-30 minutes. I'm not a txter at work so minimal txt usage, I will make 3 or 4 phone calls. I will also browse the web for about 30 minutes.
With this usage I get a solid 8 hours out of this battery so most of the time my phone is dying or dies on the car ride home. (I do have a charger but after a day of work sometimes it's nice to let my phone die) If I have a day full of appointments however I will have plenty of battery life left. I almost never put my phone on the charger until its dead and the first few cycles I really drained the battery to the point that it wouldn't turn on and would charge it all night powered off.
Overall I recommend it. I don't know how I lived without it. I hope this long winded reply is helpful to someone. Enjoy!

Another update on my vzm 2150. As of last week my battery started draining faster than normal and then started dying within 5-6 hours of minimal usage. So I called customer care and they noted my account and advised me to go back into the vzm store I purchased the battery from and ask for an exchange. I'm on my new battery now and it is lasting much longer than the defective 2150 I previously had in my phone.
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
On a typical work day, I usually get 12-16 hours with this extended battery - this is with music playback (winamp or stock music player) for 3-4 hours, browsing for about 3-4 hours, texting all day, 2-3 phone calls, autosync exchange + 2 gmail accounts.
On weekends, I turn off autosync, I can get by 2 days with the same usage.
I have no answers but I think apps are a real problem with the battery. I have the 2150 and I've had days that it died before the end of a single day and then I've also went three days before needing to plug it in. My usage is pretty consistent so a rogue app (widget) is my best guess. I've had good results since killing the WeatherBug Widget.
A little off topic, How much thicker is the battery cover than the stock battey cover? I am looking into getting this myself but I dont want to give up my protective case.

Its about double the thickness where the first "bump" of the stock back cover raises up. I used my 2150 for about a week before giving it to my wife. I really liked the performance of the 2150, but I could not get used to the extra thickness or the look of the phone. I am going to be getting the htc 1500 batt and use the stocker as a backup.

Loving this thing so far. Extra bulkiness took a little time to get used to, but other than that the performance is great. Don't even need to use my car charger anymore, which crapped out on me anyway.
i have a 1750 extended battery in mine and most days i can make it thru work on a light load, but i have a cord that i just leave at work so i leave it plugged in all the time. im looking to going back to stock though cause of some recent over heat issues.
I know it sounds crazy, but I do like the extra bulkiness. It's easier for me to hold onto it and just feels better in my hand. It doesn't weigh down my shorts and doesn't feel too heavy.
The only thing I don't like is how ugly the back looks (really not that bad), but it's easily fixed with a snazzy case from here:
http://htcpedia.com/news/case-cover-htc-droid-incredible-extended-batteryc.html
I'd suggest other places but that's the only store I've seen that sells cases that'll fit the OEM 2150 battery.
Wow, just saw someone's phone with the 2150 in it and the extra bulkyness is a deal breaker for me. I heard the 1750 fits pretty close to stock, and I have a jelly case around it, so I probably wouldn't notice some of the reports of gaps in the case; BUT I haven't heard any real great gains from the 1750. I might just pick up a cheap one from amazon, and if it doesn't work so great I'll only be out a couple bucks.
I wish there was as much focus on creating a battery that would last a week, as there is on making the next processor.
I love the bulykness......

Well, went back to my 2150 and I love how I'm not stuck to a charger for the day. I hated the feeling of,"oh no! Where is there an outlet so I can plug my phone in?!!!!" The performance is worth the added bulk.

My battery lasts 8-12 hours depending on how bad I beat on it.
My active days, I listen to music, play suduko, check xda, play in the market. Listen to tune in radio.
That said. I don't know if that is short. I think it's pretty long, and am happy with it. I have the decrapified rom, love it. I have App Killer by Rechild set on a widget. So I go in set what I want it to regularly kill, and tap the widget through out the day. It's mostly my android process that hogs the battery according to widgetsoid.

12 hours seems like a long day and good amount of hours. i hear task killers are bad for your phone though
I was averaging 9-12 hours with decrapified 1.1 depending on use. JuiceDefender extended that another 1-2 hours but added 4-6 seconds before I get 4G back when the device "wakes up". It turns the radio off and I have it set to ping instead of constantly syncing. 3G comes on 1st, then 4G...

Sounds ridiculous but i turn airplane mode on when i'm not using the phone. Turn it off every couple hrs to see if i got any emails or texts or something. Huge battery savings. I have the accurate battery mod posted in the dev forum so if i wake it up after sitting for an hr it's down 5% if i leave airplane mode off, but if i turn it on, it's down like 1%... maybe.
Once cm7 is available, we will see huge battery improvements, i have no doubt. Gingerbread is much better w/ the battery than Froyo. I saw huge improvements between cm6 and cm7 nightlies on my droid, to the tune of 200% standby improvements. Still heavy use i wouldn't expect more than 15 hrs, but imo 10 hrs is ridiculous. There's not really a huge difference between heavy and light use in battery time either.

Buy an extra battery and wall charger off eBay... Throw the battery in your back pocket, and you're set all day. I swap the battery out after about 8 hours (when I get to about 20% battery) and I'm good the rest of the day. I've had to do this with EVERY Android phone I've purchased. The OG Droid would only get me about 10 hours right when I got it, but Undervoltage Kernels, and decent Rom's brought it up to around 16 hours on the standard battery. The Samsung Fascinate was horrible - Roughly 6-7 hours out of the box. Rom's got it up to around 12. The Droid Pro - 8 hours at most on the standard battery, never saw any improvements with my usage. Droid 2 - 10 hours out of the box, but when CM7 came out on it, I was averaging around 16 hours before I got the Revo. The 8 hour battery life didn't surprise me. I kinda expected it, and had already placed my battery/charger order before I went and got the phone. I'm not a fan of extended batteries just because of the extra bulk, plus finding a case w/an extended battery is a PITA. And the 3 minute downtime from a battery swap really isn't that bad (especially if you've ever had a Blackberry).

good information. but i don't feel safe buying one off of ebay because i don't think the volts will match and it will have bad results on the phone. i can't find a cheap yet any case for the extended battery. i'm sure CM7 on the revo will help the battery a lot. we just have to wait now...
*on the edge of my seat for cm7*
Cubed cubed, and he's our dev, if he can't do it.... Well, I guess we're screwed... Lol

Agreed, I don't buy from overseas with the battery but the charger really doesn't matter. I got a genuine LG battery for $19 and then just a generic charger for it for $8. Knock on wood I haven't had any problems with the chargers I've gotten, but I don't trust generic batteries either.

verizon has for 50% off so is $25 including back cover had a extended batter for droid 1 makes battery issue go away can use alot more without recharge
Up to 20 hours normal use til completely dead battery , on standard battery.
I'm fine.
wow
wish i got on 4g or 3g all day?
stock rom ?
just curious i am lucky to get 8 hour shift and down to 30 %
on 4g and custom rom also
Unleashed, unl3ashed. how ever you spell it. 1.4
Normal use for me tho, is the phone sitting idle in my pocket a lot cause of class and what not.
I'll send out probably between 100-200 texts, talk for 10-15 total minutes, maybe do a web search or two.
Battery profile set to turn data off after 15 minutes of inactivity, background data off. Screen brightness all the way down.
Like I said before in another thread, you could turn CPU scaling to ondemand and that, from my experience, saves a little juice, but has random restarts. You could also try leaving it on the stock mot_hotplug, and turn the max freq down and see if that helps.
I'm on 4g half the day, 3g the other half (when the radio is on of coarse).
Gotta recalibrate the battery too if you haven't done that. I've done both the app, and the manual way in CWM, both work fine, per long as you do it with the phone at 100% plugged in, and let it completely die before you charge it again.
What do you mean recalibrate the battery? I didn't think I had to do anything with it???
under battery on market will see battery calibrate

gotta be rooted, thats the fine print per say.
If you can't calibrate it yourself, best to just let the thing die, charge it to 100%, and let it die again.
Still, if that's still what they're going for at Verizon, it's really hard to beat that price-point. I got one and I love it. Over 24 hours on stock with my usage.
Where are you seeing it for half off?

I just bought the extended Battery today (without my Corp Discount) and it was in fact 50% off because of a promotion that they are running. Not a bad buy for 25 bux!
Now to test and see how much life i can get out of it

Only a couple hours....
**Just an update** 16 hours and 30 min so far with 40% still remaining. Definitely not bad at all and so much better then stock battery. (Was getting Max of 10%/hr with stock) **moderate use including a couple You-tube vids, checking corp mail and gmail, browsing the web, texting, and reading XDA!

Have to have the extended battery. half off doesn't hurt either.
i dont know how you guys get 20 hours on standard battery? do you mean to have 20hours of ideal time?
I picked up the extended battery at launch and love it. I was planning on running the regular battery on the weekends but find I like the feel of the extended case in my hand. With the original for some reason it feels like the phone is going to slip out of my fingers.
