I want to install a CM based custom rom. People around here lemme know which one do you think is the best one. waiting for suggestions
'Best ROM' threads are useless and pointless. ROMs are all about personal preference so nobody can find the best ROM for you because they are not you.
So try them yourself. Or just use regular CM7 like most folks do.
Just test a couple of ROMs and evaluate on your own.

Hi People
I am new to the world of custom rom. I just rooted my phone and i am looking into proceeding with installing ICS through a custom rom.
After some research i have narrowed it dow to two choices.
Paranoid Android vs. KingDroid NoteMania
Paranoid Android is fascinating but after correspondence with a member from here he has told me that:
"in russian forums many peoples have *mmc* issues with "paranoid android" latest version, so choice is obvious for me: Kingdroid note mania is better, just because it's safer."

Is that true?
About KingDroid now i have nothing to report or ask. It looks perfect, except for the fact that it doesn't have tablet mode which i really want to get the feel of.
Now some general questions.
I have heard that custom roms have minor but frustrating glitches in various things.
I was wondering what i should expect...?
Anything other noteworthy that i might need in order to make an informed decision?
Ps. Right now i have a problem with my Note. It breaks off deep sleep spontaneously as if awakening from a bad dream.
Will a custom Rom fix that? Will it bring me other nightmares?
What is your experience with these two roms?
Thank you in advance people.

I suggest you go throughout the respective post in the development section. For PA, it is here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1662802
Start at posts after June 27, then you skip problems of previous versions.
I went through almost everything and it appears there are hardly any issues. I personally do not have any, except that I have not yet figured out how to change the sort order for my movies in the Gallery app; it appears it always sorts by file date or so. Anyway, off topic and not really a bug I guess.
PA is quite unique in the sense that you can have phone mode and tablet mode apps simultaneously. I like that. On ICS, I was very disappointed about the email app. In PA, this is simply great.
To install PA, you go back to GB or any other safe kernel, hence there is no emmc issue as someone suggested to you. PA itself uses a safe kernel of CM9, so no issues here either.
About Kingdroid, no idea. I will stick with PA as it fits my needs.
I suggest that's exactly what you should do: try for yourself to see does it fit. It's like with shoes. Asking someone else whether they fit is pointless...

If I helped you I'd appreciate your THANKS!
Just try all the roms out here.
Only after you have tested a few roms can you tell which one suits your needs.
I've tried almost all of them here in xda: Rocket Rom, Kingdroid, Asylum, AOKP, ParanoidAndroid, Ganbarou, Cassie's, AllianceRom, LiquidSmooth, Criskelo, Chrack. Although CM9/AOSP/AOKP roms have a million possibilities of customization i found that tw based roms suit my needs better. After many flashes i'm currently on AllianceRom which i think it's the best for me, smooth, customizable, stable.
I have narrowed down to exactly these two ROMS. PA or KD. I wish someone did feature comparison

Well before i used to use DarkyRom (for NOTE is alliance ). Gnex was with paranoid android.
But for me know for the first time one question crossed my mind. Do I really need to avoid TW for example and the benefits I have and love from use of S-PEN.
So I am now looking for a good Stock rooted ROM. not AOSP or AOKP anymore.
I am loosing too much with them. And I need NOTE mostly for business so my choice is obvious.

Clear answers to clear questions.. It only depends on your own likes.. Try both and see..
PA its as safe as any other safe rom as it uses cm9 kernels (well known to be safe) Also Kindroid its safe because they use a safe kernels in aroma installer...
And Kindroid DOES have tablet mode just it does not support any kind of touchwiz ui they use apex launcher (aosp looks like launcher) for this mode

First off. Wrong section. This should be in the Q&A Section.
It's all about preference. Do you wanna stick as close as possible to stock? If yes you can use Divine ROM.
It's fast and has all stock features like FM Radio mixed with loads of customization
Or AOSP ROMS.
IMO The best ones are Paranoid Android, CyanogenMod, Rootbox and my favorite MIUI.
Paranoid has tablet ui in your phone. which is cool
cyanogen is super stable
rootbox is customizable
miui is fast and customizable with a few bugs
This isn't development related.
Also, nobody can answer this question for you. Just nandroid and flash ICS ROMs until you find one you like.

I require some help to choose a custom rom for my phone, so I wanted ask anybody about your experiences with roms.
The reason is that I really lost oversight over the amount of roms. I currently installed arragis cusmoized vanir rom and while it has more features than I can remeber to make use of, I wonder what other roms offer.
I mean it would be awesome to know whether other roms are stable and useful for everyday use. So far, I can confirm that with vanir rom, everything runs good and smooth, the phone sleeps good enough and much longer sleep time than on Stable CM release 10.2, the Voice search also works and the camera is from 4.3 and there is transparency for status bar.(Finally! I always wanted that).
I really want to know if there are roms out there better than my current one. However,I am reluctant to try them all out because I am weary of flashing and reflashing 500x times and risking losing my IMEI, which then would cause me to spend even more time. So please, any successful rom user out there, please tell me your experience.

Looking for the best ROM? The fastest ROM? Head over to the development section and try a few for yourself. We do not allow threads asking about the best/fastest ROM at XDA. Please do not create threads comparing ROMs.

These kind of threads are harmful to the feelings of the developers

hi,
I need a custom ROM Kit Kat without bugs.
I currently have: CyanogenMode 11 nightly version
Bootloader = open
Please refer below for the best ROM
Speed, power, stability, no bugs
Thank you
omni rom
You can not assume that what is best for someone else is best for you! Please read through all the ROM threads and find what YOU think will be BEST for you. No one likes exactly what you like, or uses your phone exactly like you use it. There are thousands of variables that go into ROM flashing and usage. You will find that all ROMs are the best for those using them if you read through the development threads. If you are looking for which is most popular..they will usually be on the first page of development.
As much as this might be a really broad topic, I'm new to flashing and trying out new ROM's so some suggestions would be nice for the Nexus 6? Just looking for some honest alternatives to Stock 5.1, wanting to stay on Stock Kernel if possible.
Stock kernel is pretty much the worst of them. Or should i say, least improved. If you're not interested in trying custom kernels just yet, use the one that comes with the custom ROMs you try
As for recommendations, what's everyone likes is different. Look in the development forums, read the features and try them.

What @rootSU said and;
As long as you have a custom recovery and do a nandroid backup of your stable stock build, just try as many roms as you feel like. You don't like it, just restore your backup and bam, 5 minutes your back to exactly where you were. You can even use multirom and boot into different roms. Grab one of the roms from the N6 dev forum and give it a spin, you will never go back! And for what its worth, Benzo is dang good.

rootSU and jackpollard have already covered the basics. However, I will make a recommendation because I know that's what you want - if you want to try a ROM that comes with a very nice kernel so you will not need to flash a custom kernel, I recommend trying Dirty Unicorns. It is my personal favorite ROM to run with the inline kernel (XDA speak for the kernel that comes with the ROM). As these guys said, when you flash a ROM, it generally comes with a kernel. When you hear people on a particular ROM talk about "stock kernel", they really mean the inline kernel that comes with the ROM, not the stock MTV whatever Google kernel. To get technical, I'm not using "inline kernel" correctly either - that actually means a kernel that's built with a ROM, but I'm not even gonna get into all that. I would recommend Dirty Unicorns if you wish to find a ROM that comes with a stock kernel installed that is absolutely awesome. If you prefer a lighter ROM with a more stock-like kernel, I recommend Chroma. Both are excellent ROMs with great kernels that come with them, and both provide kernels that are easy for a new user to learn to configure. It just depends on what you are looking for - you may end up hating both of those ROMs. Also, any ROM that uses leanKernel as its kernel is a good place to start - find one that has a feature list you like, leanKernel is the best starter kernel there is in my opinion. The best thing about it is it is built well enough to still suit the needs of way more advanced users while not intimidating even the newest of noobs in the slighest. So, play around and find what suits you, bu those are a few recommendations to get you started based on the kernels that come with the ROMs and what you are asking for. I hope it helps you out.
Took the plunge and installed the latest Chroma ROM build, safe to say I'm happier with it than stock!

Heres a fun note. Most ROMs have yet to make major kernel changes, this means that, as of now, CM, PA, Omni, and most if not all AOSP ROMs boot on the stock kernel.
