HTC Vivid and 4GLTE in New York City - HTC Vivid, Raider, Velocity

Well they hit the switch on December 1st of this year, been getting a strong LTE signal since then. Been keeping an eye on the data going in and out of this phone. I have noticed that during phone calls the network switches back to “4G“ and when calls end the “LTE“ reappears. Does anyone here maintain an LTE signal during phone calls by any chance?. Or is this just preliminary tower behavior for testing?

That's how LTE works on AT&T. When on a phone call it switches back to HSPA+. I think it will always be like this but I'm not 100% positive. Never been an issue for me. It switches back and forth very quickly and I hardly ever use data while I'm on the phone.

Well it seems LTE coverage is expanding in the NYC area as of today. I'm now getting LTE signal in the boroughs. Bronx and Queens to be exact.

I just seen 3g on my notification bar!!

Ok, I have a g1 (obviously) and watching YouTube on it sucks mainly because it takes 5 minutes to load and then the video plays back at 12 second intervals...pretty gay ....so yesterday I just wanted to see what time it was and I noticed that I had a 3g icon in the notification bar....so to see if I wasnt high I decided to watch a video that was 1:50:32...it loaded it 5 seconds...(exciting). Later that day I had a message on my phone that said it was not registered on the network so I called t mobile and they said they were updating the network so that explained why my phone wasn't registered and as for the the 3g we wouuld have it in my area soon enough.....so I called another agent to confirm and check the coverage map and he said I would necer have 3g ever even if it was a fire...but I still get a little 3g here and there...so now I'm askin why is this happening and...iis there anyway to force 3g all the time(the anycut method doesn't work maybe I'm not doin it right but its pretty strait forward)...any help would be nice.

@MUSICMOGUL:
Your carrier may be testing the implementation of 3G in specific areas and therefore enabling/disabling the system equipment on various towers.
Lastly, I appreciate that most comments were somewhat useless ... that said, it happens and responding as you did simply aggravates the situation.

[How To] Easily get your MSL - Root Required (No PC or Verizon involvement Needed)

Saw this on the Evo forums and figured it would help some people out over here that may not have gotten their MSL yet. As the app says it may freeze your phone, if this happens you WILL need to do a battery pull, sorry just a side effect, also this is great for people wanting to flash their phones to other carriers, updating your PRL manually, and a few other uses. Also just about every Verizon phone i've laid my hands on have had the MSL/SPC "000000", so please report back if it differs from this, as i have yet to try it on the Incredible.
flexgrip said:

There is an app in the market called "MSL Reader". I ran it and it gave me my MSL. Seems like it just came out. If you can, please confirm if it works for you. It took all of two seconds to download and give me my MSL.
The developer of the app is a user on xda called mmastrac and he has a few posts in this thread. Seems pretty cool and responsive to updates. ALL credit goes to him, I just stumbled on the app and happened to post it on xda before he did If you have any issues with the app, you should be able to get a hold of him on here.
If you are reading this on your android, this will link you directly to the market download:

Yeah, all 0's here too - thanks, but no go.

So in theory, you could get an evo and use it on verizon's network?

Interested. Tell me more.
Could always try to sweet talk a rep into adding it for you. Something along the lines of: I lost my phone and I have no insurance on the phone. I don't have the money to outright buy another phone so I purchased one from my friend, can you please add it for me? (can get Evo's from craigslist for around 300-350)

Ummm...because I have 500 anytime, free nights after 7, unlimited weekends, unlimited texts, true unlimited data (no caps) all for the price of $25.43 per month. And most importantly, I'm using an Incredible on it. I won't be giving up Sero anytime soon.
Granted I left Verizon 4 years ago but have been very happy with Sprint. I will say that Verizon does have better coverage but Sprint works fine in my area and I have not had too many coverage issues while traveling.

Wrong UMTS signal indication on XT862 [Fixed!!!]

As I already wrote was almost too obvious that the poor GSM signal indication was done purposely on Verizon request.
Well, now I have the proof

Just edit build.prop and change the line
ro.mot.phonemode.vzwglobalphone=1
to
ro.mot.phonemode.vzwglobalphone=0
then reboot the phone
and your three or four stolen signal bars will be back.
Don't forget to say cheers to verizon
For the record I just tried to do the same on the D2g which is affected by the same "feature" and it works perfectly too...

You are the man!!!
God bless you!!!! Works on Droid 2 Global too!!!!!
Indeed.
Likely there are also other global models that can be fixed too, for now I wrote it just on the D2g room because I have it (i got it after the d3)
I posted right away link to your post here over at D2G general, since we were quite a few people over there annoyed from that "tweak" of Verizon since pretty much day one. Sorry for the cross post - I didn't notice you already posted in dev threads. Thanks again!
Did you notice UMTS signal indicator became 5 bar from 4 bar?
I made this change to the CM7 build.prop file. For future releases.
yeah the Solutor, work fine
Mind = blown.
Confirmed to work here too, i'm on the Liberty ROM btw.
It's quite sad too, considering 1 line can fix your GSM reception. This makes me wonder, does it do anything else too, for example will it make it unusable for CDMA networks, or is it really only affecting GSM signal indication? That would make it even sadder!
The Solutor ! i do little test, i keep phone in this same place and change that what you advice.
first i haved alwasy 2bars and after reset i have 4bars of signal !!! thx
Thanks the solutor!
edit: ye I got a total of 5 bars now instead of 4

Wow, thank you Solutor! This was my one and only critics point with this phone, but now, WOW WOW WOW, PERFECT SIGNAL!
Mille Grazie!
PS: I think no one should complain to Motorola or Verizon, they shouldn't know that we know it, to keep this solution!
Thank you so much..
now the signal shows perfectly..
however, I have to report another problem..or the same problem
even tne signal shows correctly, once I lost my signal
it cant find it automatically and i cant register the network manuanlly
i have to reboot it to make it work..(even i turn the airplane mode on)
could you find a way to fix it please?
thank you very much
I tried to reproduce that, went to the basement, waited till the signal dropped and going back up. But the signal was back immediately.

[Q] N910F - LTE Enabled on T-Mobile via CM12

Hello everyone,
For the longest time I was not able to get LTE connection on my Note 4 international variant (N910F). I called T-Mobile about it, since I knew the phone had the capabilities to connect, and T-Mobile told me that I should have bought their phone if I wanted LTE, and that they could not help me.
Giving up all hope on LTE connection, I started installing roms to see what cool features where out there. I installed several different roms, and still I had no LTE (not that I was thinking of getting it). Then I installed CM12 and LTE appears! I check the speeds and indeed I was connected to LTE on T-Mobile line. Everything was great until I found out CM12 has three great bugs that I cannot live with: 1) No apps to SD possibility and 2) Access to the camera, from any app, crashes. I have to reopen the app a second time for the camera to function (Messenger has no access at all) and 3) Various app crashes.
So I returned to stock rom, but I miss the features of a custom rom (especially ViPER) and LTE. I tried other roms but I can't find any with LTE working.
Do you know what part of CM12 enables LTE? And if I can flash it into another more stable custom rom?
Thanks
With stock formware on N910F, the LTE icon is displayed as 4G. Try checking your connection again by going to Settings>About Device> Status... then under Mobile Network type.. you can see if you are actually connected to LTE.. There is also an app called Network Signal Info on play store. Good luck

Yup....
On international phones, LTE signal is represented by 4G icon. So if you see 4G on your phone, it's actually LTE. You were already getting LTE in the first place. You did not have to flash roms and void warranty.
