Did your screen turn purple? - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys
I have my note for around 3 weeks now. I experience the purple screen twice.
so basically out of no where, the screen will turn really purple like. but the problem is fixed after i restart the phone.
not super concern about it, but just want to know if this is a bad sign that the phone will die on me?
thanks!

Ive had this experience on my Galaxy S1 and S2 I get a quick flash of either green or red color then everything is back to normal.. happend once or twice on my Galaxy S1 for owning it for a year and maybe more than 3 times on the S2 for 3 months.

It's a software bug, and i guess it'll get patched sooner or later by Samsung, but no i do not have any problems with the screen.

I've had it once Was more blueish tho. Just turned the screen off and on again (IT Crowd ) and it worked just fine after (I freaked out at the time tho).

Only once. Screen turned blueish upon waking up of device.

Yes, it happened to me too. Turned blueish when turned on but returned to original when hitting the power button. Thank god it's a software bug rather than hardware.

[PROBLEM] Died?

Hey guys, I was wondering if somebody would be able to maybe help me diagnose the fault\problem part with my non-working diamond...
Basically I went to a club one night and the place was unbelievably steamy / humid. My phone was working one minute and then the next it wouldnt display anything on the LCD. The backlight was working however.
Since then I havent been able to get an image on the screen although when trying to turn it on, it seems to go through its startup sequence (backlight -> vibration -> beep (i think))
I havent had any power to the phone since a day after it broke (a few weeks ago).
I'd like to get it back working again but dont know exactly what part i would need to replace. I'm fairly competent with electronics .
Any help/advite would be appreciated!
Haha, ok that's odd...
I've plugged it into my pc to get some data files off about an hour ago.. forgot about it and just looked at it now and the screen is displaying!
It is displaying and accepting input although it was flickering at first (like pixel shifting). but i pressed the power button to standby the screen and pressed it again and the display is fine with no flickering ?
Ive moved the phone about and shook it quite hard to see if there's any loose connection but the display still seems fine..
Anybody have any ideas as to what it may be?
I'm not going to deem it as fixed until I know what the problem was/is lol
cheers guys
Ok screen actually keeps flickering nonstop, and sometimes 'fades away' to gray/white/black
comes back after a few seconds though
Looks like a faulty connector?

[Q] Problem-Display suddenly turned fade colrs with multiple horizantal black line?

Hi i got samsung galaxy s 1 month back ,today when i am browsing widgets from main screen Display suddenly started to show fading colors with multiple horizontal black line and phone is hanged,i waited for few seconds hoping it will return to normal but continuously all colors lost slowly with white screen and multiple black lines.then i removed battery and restarted after which display is fine with no problem.

Thank you!
Hey mate,
I had the same problem with an I9000 international a while back, it was a hardware fault and the phone was replaced by my carrier. (at least that is what they told me)
Sorry for the bad news,
Alex
Now,My phone is workinkg fine!
By the way how many times you had this problem? After this problem ur phone is dead or worked after restart?
Today when i pressed side key to turn on display there are three white lines on display when i drawed pattern to unlock phone lines disappeared!
this is hardware problem? should i go to customer care?
Hi again,
My phone did it intermittently when i was using it, not just on certain screens, it was almost random. Sometimes it would work perfect for 2 days then just have the same problem you described.
My RMA sheet from Samsung said:
Tested Main PCB
Tested Display
Handset Hardware fault
Replaced Handset
Passed live air tests
Passed stress test
So based on the above, my phone was ratsh*t

[Q] Pixel Stuck or Dead

Hi All,
Actually I bought a new Note-GTN7000 but later after four day's I've noticed that there is a tiny green dot appearing on the not exactly but middle of the OLED. It is not a dead pixel as it appears on a dark background only like when we go to the settings menu(Dark Background) & it disappears when I switch of my handset.
Could be a pixel stuck.
Q!: Is there a way to take it off.
Q2: Tried different apps like JscreenFix and pixel fixer for about an hour or two continuously but didn't work out.
Any other possible way from any body???
Please help.
I once had a stuck pixel on tytn 2 and this is what I did:
Hold your finger or "closed" pen on a pixel(so you'll know where it is)
Turn off your screen
Press the spot on the screen very hard
Turn on the screen
This procedure helped me to "unstuck" the pixel. I cant guarantee that it will work om amoled but I think it is worth to try
Sent from my GT-N7000 using XDA
Pushing the spot hard and Switching the display on, Heating up the screen works for LCD Screens. Not LED.
Don't try these silly steps posted everywhere, You might end up permanently damaging your screen.
The only solution to this is, Stop looking at it. I have a stuck pixel on lower left corner as well. They don't spread nor hurt anything. In fact its so tiny that You wont notice it until you continuously focus your eyes on it. In a couple of days you will forget that It's their.
For LCD Monitors back in the days - Samsung only replaced Monitors with new ones if "only" they had Five or more dead pixels. If you have one , or two you're stuck with that for good. #yearsago

Screen going black randomly on Z1

I've gotten my Xperia z1 black Friday. Since then the screen has gone black on me about 6 times already... Mind u only had it 1 week.
The screen will go black with no image showing but the black light stays on. Pressing power or any button does nothing. I have to press the red power button near the sim card to have it reset.
Today I its done it 4 times in a row. I did notice that the screen flickered a few times on the image then it went to black image with back light on.
I rebooted it. It showed Sony then just the black screen with no image. I rest the phone again and still nothing. I brought it to the store I bought it from and when I went to show him the back light on but no image and no response from the power it worked Ok. Besides when I turned it off the back light stayed on and the phone was hot.
He turned on the optimized back light option as I turned it off to see if that caused the issues. Now after leaving the store as I had him order a replacement I went to turn my phone on after 20min and I got no back light but the image was there... Extremely hard to see I must add. I went in the settings and turned off the auto dimmer option and my screen was fine since then.
Anyone run into this issue?
I hope if I replace this one for another I won't have the same issue again as this phone is very powerful but this issue is a pain!

You will have exactly the same issue, it's a known Xperia bug. You would know it if you goolde it first!
Go to sony forums and that issue is a hot topic, same with the touchscreen issue. I'll never buy a ****ty xperia again.
Yes, this is an Android Bug, not the Device. Before Adroid will work well on the device have to past weeks. I had no backlight but the phone was working because when I was touching the screen he also vibrate because that option was abilitate. I had to reboot the phone few times too and disabilitate Adapt to lighting condition, for me that was making black screen. So I did this few times, abilitate and disabilitate and now no matter what is running well even with all the options abilitate. So I will give it time.
Thanks guys.
I have searched on Google and other sources but the way they describe it is a bit different then what I was seeing. Plus many stated they where not able to get it working till they did the power + vol up and down. I just pushed the reset button inside the sim cover and I was fine.
So far by disabling the auto screen brightness I have not had this issue again.
Hope this is more software then hardware issue and can be fixed by next update. I'm on firmware: 14.1.G1.534.
Bell has not pushed the new update people are talking about when I did searches for it.
Could it be bell is waiting for the 4.4 update instead of pushing a small jellybean update?
Hope it's fixable. I love this phone way more than my slow galaxy note I had before.

"Adapt to lighting condition" and "Auto Screen Brightness" is the same thing.
Yes I know.. I just did not know the name at the time... That was the first name that came to mind...
So far with the Adapt to lighting condition off, My phone has not acted in anyway described above.
Just wanted to give heads up and report of my findings even thought others may have found it also.
Update your phone to 2.257 firmware, it seems the problem caused by "optimized backlight" thing, since on the 257 firmware the optimized backlight check was gone. I only used the 1.534 firmware for a few hours and flashed 2.257 via flashtool and i never experienced any problem until now for like a month and half

My provider, Bell Canada states that the most current firmware is X.X.1.543...
I used sony's update tool and it also stated I had most recent update
This flash tool u are talking about... It states an unlocked device. Do they mean that the device is not carrier locked?
I believe mine is Bell Canada locked but there are no branding on the phone.
Also the software shows a list of compatible phones but the z1 is not in the list...
I think I'm sol if mine is not bootloader unlocked correct?
* Update *
I was able to flash stock unbranded android 4.2.2 and then I was able to update ota to 4.3!
Phone runs great now and I no longer have the screen going black issue when I have the auto screen brightness on!
Phone is super smooth!
Thanks for the tips and help guys!
Can't wait to see the 4.4 when it comes out next yr!
Happy new year to all of you!
Oh and my bootloader is still locked. I found the diy to do it with out unlocking my bootloader.
My phone was rooted when I changed to the unbranded firmware.
It's no longer rooted on the now 4.3

Screen Issue

So, It's only 3 weeks since I bought this phone, and last weekend i accidentaly drop it (damn..) but at first glance it didn't have any scratchs. But then the next morning when I turned on my phone I notice a red stain on the booting screen, and then I realized that whenever the screen's color is black, the stain is there :S . You can only notice it on a black background, others colors works fine.
So i was wondering if it this could be fixed. I searched on internet if it was a dead/stuck pixel, do you think it could be fixed with one of those fixing apps? (I tried it for around a hour, but so far no good) What options do I have? I talked with Amazon and they said that they will refund/exchange my phone but I would like to avoid sending it back if it can be fixed.
Thanks in advance
send it to the warranty screen isn't broken they will fix it
