Hi,
i need to know if i go for custom rom i will lose waranty of my samsung,if I restore stock rom what was on phone.....waranty will be still usable or no?
Anyone know how to sim lock to provider network?
Thanks
Anything requires ROOT or it ROOTS your device is avoiding your warranty, I guess so!, and switching back to default ROM is more like a restore, and it removes the "Superuser" or any ROOT their, so I think warranty gets back..
I don't really know the answer for your second question..
Rooting voids your warranty.. Now it comes down to can samsung find out if you've rooted or not.. For me, I've fried the memory chips twice with my sgs so they had no way of finding out i was rooted and i got warranty..
Thanks for rply...
But anyone know how to lock sim on provider because if need repair phone i must go too provider and i guess if phone are unlocked I will lose waranty?

Not sure where to post this as I have the Galaxy S i9003 not the original Galaxy S.
My phone is 2 days old. I am new to android platform. Rooted using superoneclick and applied lagfix using a market app.
Yesterday I removed my SIM card to use it in another phone but when I put it back in i9003, it did not detect the SIM Card. I tried hard reset - no use.
*#06# shows no IMEI no. Its blank.
*#1234# gives:
PDA : I9003DDKB2
Phone: Unknown
CSC: I9003ODDKA6
Settings > wireless and network > mobile network shows: Insert SIM card
But the SIM card works well in other phones. Please help
PS: There is no stock froyo firmware for India (DD) available on net I guess.
Its nothing realated with rooting, I jus rooted mine yesterday and having no problems. Is any other sim working on your mobile or vice versa?
The SIM works in other phones and no other SIM works in the phone.
Then may be you should try factory resetting your mobile and try again. If that doesnt helps(most probably it would), then you have to take it to the nearest service center

Doesn't help. I have done that thrice. I guess taking it to service center is the only choice I got as stock rom for India is not available to public yet.
Why dont you try another sim, may be from a friend just for checking... Or it could be SIM card slot related issue. There is no way to lose IMEI, unless you have acess to the efs folder
I have tried that. I don't think its related to SIM slot as phone doesn't have any IMEI no. Yes the phone was rooted but I had not installed root explorer.. so i had no access to the root folder (hence efs). Only app which needed superuser access was some screenshot app which takes a screenshot when u shake the phone (I don't remember the name).
Remove lagfix and root apps and return it to the store or service centre is what i would do .

Hello I am from indonesia, and my I9003 also not detect the simcard. I haven't root my phone yet. Also I ve already tried update firmware but still not detect the simcard. Dont know why. Currently in samsung service center and they said probably sim card socket problems

Hey. Let us know any update about this.
I took it to samsung service center. Service engineer there was saying I must have tried updating my phone even after my denial. He said phone files are deleted. They will let me know tomorrow. They might have to change the motherboard of the phone.
Is that the only solution when phone files get deleted?

Replacing a motherboard seems a bit extreme to me, but when your BIOS gets corrupted on a PC they often just swap out the BIOS chip, so maybe it is equivalent.
Either way, what do you care as long as they fix it?
True.
Update: They changed whole motherboard of the phone and now I have 12 GB phone memory instead of original 4 GB. Nice

Wow that's nice!
Since your phone was only 2 days old when this problem occured, you were entitled to a new phone... Your phone would be classified as DOA and you would get a certificate which entitles you to a replacement. Hey but you got nothing to complain about as you got 12gb! Seems like you got the 16gb version.
Well a similar thing happened to me, I gave the service centre my phone to reflash it and they screwed up somehow and my IMEI was 0! So i'm getting a replacement for it tomorrow.
Hope I get the 16gb new phone too!
Help!
I bought a O2X and didn't know he was blocked. When attempting to unlock the following message appeared:
"This phone is permanently locked and can not be unlocked"
Can anyone help me? He came blocked by the operator Movistar.
Tks
Return it and ask for a refund?
Sent using gum and some sticks just as McGyver would
Change sim card, turn on device while holding volume down key, do a factory reset, flash a baseband which also does a factory reset.
Those are my tips.
it seems that the carrier locked it by imei... probably the phone was stolen from someone and the person "participate?!" it to the carrier / police...
solution? bring it to someone with an box and change the imei or clean it. i heard about some android phones when flashing some cooked rom they lost the imei but i dont know if that happend with p990..
Yeap... unintended change of imei does happen specifically when using CM roms, there is even a tutorial somewhere in the forum here on how to restore your original imei for o2x. So instead of restoring to original imei...you can use same technique to change the imei. Use the search function.
Hi, folks...
After a long time, I have a problem with my Note...
Many, many weeks ago I rooted and unlocked my Note, and all was going well... It is just in the recent day, or two that I noticed that suddenly I don't have access to SMS service, calls, or Internet... I thought it was provider's fault, but after inserting other network's SIM card I got the same problem...
I think I might have re-locked itself somehow... I tried again using Galaxy S unlock method, but it changes nothing... is it possible that the phone unrooted itself, or that some update (no ICS, I am not touching that yet! ) messed up something?
Awaiting for your helpful response...

Unlocked means? Unlocked from what? Service provider?

I don't think it may have auto locked.
You are on GB ROM then try
-Factory reset
still dont work, then
-Reflash ROM
This shud work, if still doesn't work then reason to believe it has been locked.
Is your IMEI still showing correctly?
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda app-developers app
Locked, as in SIM locked.
Will try factory reset in the evening (London) and see what happens...
What do you mean if my IMEI is still showing correctly? How should I know what is wrongly showing of IMEI?
He mean you can see IMEI as digit or just written 'unknown'

yeah, full number is there, no anomalies of any kind in that regard....

I am having the same problem or at least similar. The phone was running fine on both paranoid android and chracks rom. I flashed Crash v7 yesterday, still fine. I decided to go back to Chrack since there was an update. When I did that, safely, the first pop-up I got was "enter network unlock code key" message. I tried the galaxy_s unlock, didn't work. The only backup that I had left was the Crashv7 so I restored that. I got the same message now but galaxy_s unlock DOES work on it. Though, I never had to use it before. I have been at this trying to figure it out for over 8 hours. I believe it has something to do with the new roms and the CSC regions. I have been searching the forums all night and now today I see more people experiencing problems.
I would like to ask a few question here,
Why do we need to change the CSC regions? Other than Kies updating, what difference does it make? I have not found the answer anywhere. I am in the US and have never had to deal with this b.s. before. Web searches I have seen seem to all refer these to Samsung phones. Are they the only company that does this?
My N7000 is from Sweden, NEE(XEE) csc. The rom that is working for me now has a csc of: EUR. I was under the impression that with custom roms it didn't matter what the csc but now I am starting to doubt that.
Any true help out there? Anyone in the states or anywhere else suffering from the same problem? I just think it strange that the phone would re-lock itself but only stay locked on newer roms(any after July 25th) and the unlock app only works on the older roms.
Sorry for this long post.
Edit: When the sim unlock app doesn't work, imei says "unknown"
Edit 2: Looking at other threads it looks like this isn't isolated. I guess there is a problem with the new lrk or whatever it is. It's re-locking units and galaxy_s unlock isn't working.
Yeah, I would also say that some time around middle of this week, this issue became apparent to me... I really didn't use the Note much for the last two weeks, so when I wanted to send an SMS, I thought it was the network playing up (2, or 3 times a year it has problems with service, which is ok with me, since they give a great deal for £10, and I don't need a non-stop connectivity...
I am knackered after today's ride, so I will try and deal with the issue tomorrow...
Oh... I did factory restore and rooting and flashing and the whole procedure of installing busybox and galaxy s unlock app and doing everything I remember doing the first time I unlocked my Note, but unfortunately it keeps saying "Network not available."
Has anybody got any idea why some Note re-SIMlock themselves, even though this method of SIM unlock is supposed to be permanent...
What should I do now? Install other stokk GB firmware, or risk it with some custom ROMs?
I am so sad...

I have found that any custom rom built on the LRI/LRK radios do not work for us users with sim-relock. Best to stay on older roms that aren't built from those sources. Sucks, I know. :crying:

AND WHAT DO YOU KNOW.....
A week and a bit back I had this sim lock problem with the Note, tried stuff in this thread, nothing worked, just fo find it today, when I picked it up to go and try flashing God knows what I'd pick, and turn it on, and IT IS UNLOCKED!!!
I was like a small pig when you give it some corn...
Phew, that is a stone off my heart...
But, how? Is it possible that maybe some Kies update, or some other app update brought about the re-locking of the NOTE?
Still, what made it work now, after so much time and failures?

Here's my situation. As you can see my GPS does not lock on my N7000 and could not even find a satellite. I've tried a lot of fixes from the play store including AGPS patches. even modified gps.conf from system/etc though i backed up the original one. unfortunately GPS wont lock. I've flashed Angry Vt1 with the OTA update before. but I thought restoring to an earlier and stock rom would help, I restored to IMM76D.DXLR5 build with N7000DXLR1 baseband flashed Philzdxlr safe kernel with my Note but still it doesnt lock only finds my location if i turn on the mobile data but whenever I use a Navigation app "waze" and Google Maps the location where I turn it on doesnt move while im driving.
I Live here in the Philippines i even tried changing the NTP server to ph.pool.ntp.org unfortunately no results. Tried rebooting like hell nothing helped. I found some Stock ICS roms from "dr.ketan" for my country though it has a carrier indicated in it.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1424997
like this:
N7000DXLR5---4.0.4/12.07.30-N7000OLBLR2---Download--Philippines (Sun)
N7000DXLP9---4.0.3/12.05---N7000OLBLP6---Download--- Philippines (Sun)
N7000DXLR5---4.0.4/12.07.30-N7000OLBLR2---Download--Philippines (Smart)
N7000DXLP9---4.0.3/12.05---N7000OLBLP6---Download--- Philippines (Smart)
ive not tried it since im afraid its carrier is locked to the indicated one.does it?
I used to own another N7000 which ran CM10, PAJELLYBAM. but sold it since I have a new Note with ongoing warranty. which I had no problems with its GPS. unfortunately i cant recall what stock rom was in my new note for restocking purposes since i impulsively flashed Angry VT1. i experienced ANGRY VT1 and im never going back to Cyanogen.
So it ends with my basic question for my pursuit of the fix does reflashing other stock roms from other country will fix my gps? currently im downloading JZO54K.N7000XXLSC which was posted by chronosmachine http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1992573 i wanted XXLSC as stock since ill return back to ANGRYvt1 rom. Does anyone know whats the best stock rom there is? (what i mean best is the fewest issues that goes with the rom, so that maybe i could put an end to this gps dilemma)
Any ideas anyone?
Thank you and good day:good:
Today i tried another fix which is more about the innards of my note. Prying it open and slightly bending the gps antenna. Still nothing. Sigh. I found it in the at&t gnote thread. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1973727 i was convinced to do it because almost everyone who did it Worked. Im sending it to a service center later im afraid its hardware issue like the gps module.
Question if you have a device which is rooted with a voided warranty will the official samsung service center still repair your phone? Or do i still have to restock and unroot?(im sorry if i voided it myself i just like learning at whatever cost)

Gps will not be affected by flashing different rom, maybe radio will affect it but does sound like hardware problem. If you're sending it in, you'll need to flash stock gb rom via pc odin after erasing flash counter. Service won't honour warranty if it has raised flash counter and/or root.
You don't need to unroot, just flashing 3 part stock rom will remove root.

It's probably best to flash one with your csc that was on it originally. In theory you can flash any but to be safe as houses, best to stick with the original csc. If you don't know your original csc (I'm guessing phillipines doesn't have its own?) then any will do.

I just got a used AT&T Vivid with what turns out are 2 anomalies that I failed to observe initially.
First I tried to put my ST sim card out my AT&T SGS, and get no service. No big shock initially since I have to change the APN info. Couldn't do that cause option is dimmed.Checked further, No IMEI, IMEI SV, or baseband. Took sim out and observed that I get NO sim error at startup, just "no service". Tried an AT&T sim from a friends Vivid, same result.
I was hoping that the sim card reader just might be bad, a cheap easy fix and apparently some what of a common issue. Haven't ordered one yet until I get more info on whether the no sim error and no IMEI etc are related and it's not a more serious hardware issue. I don't have a problem with repairing hardware if needed.I'm a noob here, but have a brain like a sponge, so any thoughts on how to proceed with diagnostics would be appreciated. Thanks in advance
No imei is really bad...
No one here can help you recover it without a proper backup... I have no idea how to back it up nor restore...
If you don't figure it out I'd have to suggest flashing to stock... prolly via ruu and go to an at&t store...

I don't think (but don't know 4 sure) that this phone is anything other than an out of the box stock configuration. I don't have service with AT&T so I don't know how much help they would be. I did check with them to make sure IMEI printed on the phone wasn't blacklisted and it's OK. All I have done was to do a factory reset to clear all the PO's stuff.
Does anybody have any more ideas? I am wondering if I don't need to replace the motherboard and or just the simcard/sd part. Changing the motherboard would mean a different IMEI right?
No imei means something went wrong with the bootloader. It's unlocked? Did you try to S-OFF?
I believe flashing a rom stock via RUU (that's it, flashing the PD.zip file) maybe can fix the problem.
At worst you must change the motherboard and yes, you will have a diferent imei.
I may be wrong, but I see no sign that anybody has done anything to change ROM or anything else on this phone. I'll try to do a S-off, and unlock it since I want to use it on ST anyway.
hello,
i've also same problem here
flashed with stock rom but no luck ,
bootloader locked and s-off
searched forum but no success story
i think i'll return it
Well I finally got a new SIM/SD card reader and installed it. No change.Tried ST, AT&T, and T-mobile sims
Still get no SIM error when booting with or without a SIM card, has an X on signal strength, and it doesn't even say "no service".
Same as to IMEI etc. info, nothing shows up.
Am I going to have to change mainboard? Or is it possible firmware/ROM changes could fix it?

Unlocked the bootloader tonight, no problem. Will try s-off tomorrow.
Where can I get a stock rom file?
I'll only ask this dumb ? once: Is the OS (JB,GB,ICS) different than the rom? I'm still running gingerbread 2.3.4, should I got to ICS or? Will that have any affect on the imei issue?
I might just be getting some experience with this phone if I have to do it all over with another mainboard.
OK, so I decided to play with this phone again after my SGS1 was freaking out yesterday. I finally found and used a phone dialer code do download the ICS update, and it downloaded (via wi-fi), installed and rebooted fine. In fact It apparently fixed my IMEI and SIM card problems because when it booted the first time with ICS it showed a big icon "no SIM installed" ya hoo!! checked IMEI in settings, all was good. Played around with settings/menus a bit to familiarize myself with the differences, then restarted...NO IMEI again, and no sim error without any SIM installed On the next 5-6 restarts it worked fine all but once, (total on time of around an hour) but now every restart (10+) it's back to same original issue: no IMEI shown and no SIM error. I still have no AT&T compatible SIM card to really test it but if it doesn't give me a SIM card error (no SIM card installed) it's a moot point.
It really puzzles me that it appeared to work at all if I have a bad mainboard. My daughter in-law has a Vivid with a bad screen she's going to give me to use for parts (mainboard) but I'm not sure if there's not still some hope of salvaging the current one.
Comment, thoughts etc... Please
