How to boot into CWM manager from Power off? - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Probably a noob question, but how do I boot into CMW to flash a rom from power off state?
Thank you!

Power+Home+Volume Up, then you will be in Cwm menu.

alternative... from the CWM-App itself

Thanx guys the key combi works!

Just to be a smartie but also for practical reasons to avoid confusions and mixups in the future:
CWM stands for ClockWorkManager (or maybe ClockWorkrecoveryManager) and is an app, running in your already working Android system.
CWR stands for ClockWorkRecovery, is not an app but a mini-OS in itself used to flash, wipe and perform other low-level actions.
You cannot "boot" or "start" into CWM with any key combination since it's just a regular app. You can very well boot into CWR by using said key combination though.
CWM is a piece of software made to manage the CWR ahead before booting into it from the Android OS.

Which one is the "ENTER OK" Key ?

im trying to wipe my captivate at the moment, booted into the clockwork 3e recovery mode.
vol up down chooses the menu but what button to "Enter" ? Power does not work, thanks

how do i get out of this ? Vol up down buttons work, but no enter button ... home etc... nothing happens.
It's one of the bottom four keys... menu or back
-edit-
Oh, I see the other keys don't work.
When I saw something similar, one of those keys worked for "enter". If no keys work for enter, these are the options I know of:
- Hold up+power to reset
- Hold up+down+power to reset in to recovery
- Hold down+power to reset in to download mode (where you can flash back to stock with odin)
- Pull battery
worked, thanks.
how do i come into the green recovery mode ?
and should i wipe cache also before flashin new rom?

To get to the green recovery mode, make sure you have the install.zip file in the internal sd. Then in regular recovery, click reinstall packages. You may need to press it twice.
If you don't have the install.zip file, boot your phone, download ROM Manager from the market and select the option, Flash ClockWork Recovery.
Once this is installed, each time you go to recovery, it takes you to clockwork recovery mode automatically

not
install.zip
and it needs to be the update.zip from CWM/ROM Manager, not any old update.zip

[Q] Is there a way to boot from power off directly to Clockworkmod?

So my power button on my Nexus One works 1 out of every 1000 tries. Which makes getting a boot loop and having to go to the white hboot screen a royal PITA.
I don't need or want the white hboot screen. I would LOVE to be able to hold down the trackball and pop the battery in and out and have it just power on into clockworkmod.
Is there a way to do this? Thanks in advance!
Unfortunately I don't think there is a way. There are certain buttons you have to push in order to get to certain areas of the unit. From a powered on state, of course there is the use of quick boot or some variation. But from a powered off state, you must have a functioning power button to be able to navigate through the HBOOT section. It would be great to be able to remap the hardware function buttons to allow the vol-d or vol-u buttons to act as navigation buttons in certain cases, but I think that is nearly impossible.
You can't go directly to recovery but you can go to the bootloader. From there you should be able to follow this guide to skip the recovery altogether. This should enable you to be able to flash your individual files created from a Nandroid backup and then reboot into it. Alternatively you can use the fastboot command:
Fastboot boot recovery.img (Where recovery.img is a copy of Clockwork mod recovery in your /tools folder. However do remember this is a one time boot, therefore you'll need to do this following any bootloop).
Thanks for the reply. I'm thinking the trackball is the perfect candidate seems how it is totally useless in hboot. Sometimes I push it just hoping my prayers have been answered but to no avail.
I am not a programmer only an end user but I think if its possible a few options would be to remap the power button on hboot as you mentioned or to make an option on ROM's where a person could choose to boot directly to clockwork.
Although maybe this would be an option for clockworkmod itself.
Anyway someday someone will figure it out. I just hope that day comes before my power button stops working all-together.
The strangest part is that the power button seems to only have this problem in hboot. If I want to use it to turn off the screen or turn it on again its fine ... But my trackball can do the same ... To sum up ... My trackball only acts like a power button when I don't need it to. The irony.

Thanks for the link. I will have a look and see how it works. ^^
At any point that the device is running, you can issue the adb reboot recovery command via a USB connection to reboot directly into recovery without having to press any buttons on the device. You can do this even while the device is bootlooping (as long as it has gotten beyond the static X image).
In rom manger it has the option to boot into recovery.
Quickboot does the same. Elegos rom updater does it.

[Q] Can't get nook to boot in recovery mode???

Ok, so I just got a nook and went through the steps of rooting it by following this tutorial here: http://www.the-ebook-reader.com/nook-color-cm7.html which eventually led me to here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1000957. I then tried to put gapps on my nook so I could get android market but I can't get the nook to boot into recovery mode! I started searching through alot of forums and noticed many people saying you need to have ClockworkMod Recovery which I thought I already had. But in my rom manager it says "You mush have the CLockworkMod Recovery installed to flash and restore ROMs!" So apparently I can't go into recovery mode because I don't have it?? I don't know how to install it either because all the tutorials start out with a stock nook and my nook already has gingerbread on it. I'm extremely cautious to try anything because this is my first time rooting. What do I do????
Well, I figured out how to install Clockwork through the rom manager and I just noticed an update in the bottom bar. It just gave me the option to add google apps and it's downloading as I type this. Confused about recovery mode and the little penguin now.

Idk if you figured this out yet but in case you didn't, what you were supposed to do is download the latest gapps which is 200110613 if your using latest cm7. Then put that zip in the boot partition of your sd card. Put the sd card back into your nook and boot into recovery by holding down the N and power buttons. When the loading screen appears you release the buttons. It then will install gapps to the sd card and power down when its done.
Tip: If you cant time the release of N and power to get gapps installed. Just let cm7 load up then hold power select reboot then select recovery.

What I ended up doing actually is rerooting it to run nightlies instead of the stable version 7.0.3. It rebooted into recovery mode and worked like a charm.
When am I supposed to see the option to Boot to Recovery? I have tried timing holding N and power and that didn't work. I tried holding the N till script appeared but only option ended up booting to B&N Nook Color.
How do I forec a Recovery boot?

Help i Need a CWM Touch or a TWRP, HELP

Hello, first of all I ask sorry for my English is very bad,
Now, I have a problem I have damaged the POWER and HOME buttons, and I'm on JVU stock
* cm10.2 would like to install from a recovery but without the home button I can not install it, the solution would someone pass me some RECOVERY TOUCH, maybe some serious TWRP or something, to install the rom from whether thank you very much
Search on Google Playstore for a widget that can reboot into recovery then flash cf-root to get CWM and root. http://bit.ly/RgA6YS
EDIT: CMW uses the power button to navigate so if you have a damaged power button not sure if you'll be able to use it anyway, only other option is to flash a touch screen version of CWM.
EDIT: PhilZ Touch recovery, but i think it's bundled with a CM11 kernel? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2588649
EDIT: If you can find a widget that'll reboot you into recovery mode you could flash ''Mackay CM9'' http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2660668 it has TWRP 2.2.2.0 recovery and it's the rom I'm using. highly recommended.
thanks

Thanks Man! but i need to navigate and select Wipe data and install zip from sd card but i dont have home button! anyway thanks:laugh:
The only thing I can suggest is to flash a rom (if you can boot into download mode) which has touch recovery, Mackay CM9 has TWRP. sorry can't help much.
EDIT: actually there's an app called "button remapper" (needs root) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=850464 maybe you could try remapping the faulty buttons.

In CWM you don't need home button at all. Navigating with volume buttons / confirm with power button.
I would suggest you to install Mackay ICS 2014 CM9 based. It features TWRP, it is much faster than CM10.2 and has also better battery life.
Around pages 3-5 mohammad.affaneh has posted flashable zip SystemUI (just link to it) which gives you functions power button by touching uppest right screen corner (minutes of the time). Zip doesn't work in other ROMs

You can use USB jig to turn into download mode if necessary and ADB to reboot into recovery.
Once you are rooted, app QuickBoot can do all basic boot commands with just touching a screen.

Installing custom rom, on galaxy s gt-i9000, with a busted power button

Hi there i am relatively new to android modding and rooting etc. I recently tried to install Cyanogenmod to my phone and I succeeded, but the next day my phone began to restart itself, turns out that the power button is broken. We tried to repair it but ended up burning down the processors internal i/o (latch or whatever structure it has) with a faulty multimeter . Now i have to turn on my phone with a dock cable (with 1kohm res) which wakes up the phone, i can access the Download mode by plugging in the dock, and pressing home+down, but the recovery needs the power button signal too.
I can access the recovery by using adb commands, but i need to boot in. If i install a new recovery like CWM, i am stuck in a bootloop and i don't know if i can use the adb commands. Is there any other way to get into recovery mode, besides home+power+up, or adb commands?
Can i install CM onto the phone under these circumstances?
Thanks for any help given!
Not sure how you are going to select options in recovery as you need the power button unless you have Touch Recovery or TWRP recovery. Anyway use this app to boot to recovery http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1423071

Well if i install a new recovery mod like clockworkmod then i'll be in one. That is why it is necessary to reboot in it so i can install the ROM.
Rather get your power button replaced.
