Hey everyone. So I have an SGS2 rooted and running a custom rom and now am doing the same with a bell i9000m.
I used Kies to update to 2.3.3.
However, no matter what kernel I flash, I always have a boot loop. I have NO CWM and I would like to get that for the ability to hard reset...
I can only really access Download mode. Tried flashing back to stock 2.3.3 KG3 rooted kernel and still no luck. Tried CF Root JVP 3.7 (to get CWM) and still no cwm and a boot loop.
If I have updated to 2.3.3 doesn't that mean I have the gingerbread bootloader now? No matter what kernel I flash, I always seem to be getting a freaking boot loop, but it should be working....
Am I flashing the wrong firmware version or something? Or just getting unlucky with boot loops (Seeing as how CF root won't even boot)
Just kinda confused because for CF root you are supposed to install a version with a similar version model (JVP,ect) but the i9000m had JL2 (for froyo), and KG3 (for gingerbread) which are not options for CF-root

Hi!
I have a rooted Samsung Galaxy S i9000 with stock Froyo 2.2 XWJPF. My question is simple: is there any way to install CWM on a stock 2.2? I already tried the following:
1. Applying update.zip from stock recovery doesn`t work, because 2.2 has a 3e recovery that always complains about wrong signatures.
2. Installing via Rom Manager doesn`t work on Galaxy S. Rom Manager only downloads CWM, but in order to get it working it has to be (re)applied from the stock recovery. Hurray!
3. I even considered flashing CF-Root, but CF-Root doesn`t have a rom for JPF. But even if it had, after flashing a custom kernel, my os wouldn't be the same old "clean" stock firmware anymore.
So before I give up and go on flashing a custom rom without backing up my current system, I`d like to ask if there`s someone who knows some other way than these above to install CWM on a stock 2.2?
Same problem here.
3 combo button or other things not working.

Evening,
I'm trying to upgrade from a stock Eclair 2.1 to Froyo.
Recovery is 2e.
I've spent the better part of the last two days reading endless threads here and trying any remotely relevant solutions that were discussed.
The phone simply refuses to boot anything other than Eclair.
Won't run any recovery other than it's stock 2e either.
So far I've tried:
- Stock 2.2 JPC / JPU and 2.3 JPK / JVK with repartition and wipe, using Odin v1.3, 1.52, 1.7, 1.82 and correct pit file.
- 2.3 JPK / JVK with above Odin versions.
- speedmod, CF-Root, darkcore, damianGTO and a few others with Odin and SGS kernel flasher app.
- CWM recovery with SGS kernel flasher app and rom manager app.
- Manually flashing the GT-I9000 2.5.1.2 CWM recovery, which seems to let me into the CWM recovery menu if I "apply update.zip" twice, but recovery is still stock 2e on reboot.
- WIPE versions of popular roms that include a kernel with Odin/CWM.
With all of the above the result is the same. Just shows a the Galaxy S logo for hours and hours. It will not go into recovery mode either, only download mode.
If I flash any stock eclair such as JM4, JM8 or JD4, the phone boots Eclair just fine and I can get 2e recovery again.
I've checked that it's not sim locked with the *#724....# code, which said that everything was unlocked.
Not many hairs left to pull. Hopefully some of the gurus that hang around here would be kind enough to point me in the right direction.
Thank you for your time,

use this to successfully upgrade to Froyo..
cheers
Backup your internal sd storage. (Photo's, music etc.)
Then give it a format. Then try to flash again. Do not worry about restoring all the android folders and such after the format. All of the needed folders will be re-created.
Try taking it to a service centre and ask them to update it to Froyo for you. They might know something we don't.
Dear oldseeker,
Quite a coincidence but I've had a similar problem today with my dad's SGS.
The phone would go into a bootloop if I'd flash froyo or gingerbread.
He had eclair on it and needed an update badly to use his apps.
How I eventually fixed it was, by flashing Eclair JM8 with the pit file from samfirmware (with repartition ticked), and after that was finished, I flashed Darky's
Ressurect Edition 10.1 again with repartition ticked, and everything works now as it should.
Hope this works for you!

Hi,
Here's my story, I was running stock Froyo 2.2 on my Samsung Galaxy I9000 (India) and decided to give latest SpeedMod kernel (speedmod-kernel-k13e-500hz.tar) a try, things went well and I flashed the kernel successfully via ODIN. After this I went ahead and enabled all recommended tweaks and lagfix (both data and system) this also completed successfully.
Now problem started when I followed this guide and did something wrong (I guess), I skipped the "Flashing SpeedMod Kernel" step as I was already on that and disabled the lagfix (Data + system) after disabling lagfix and rebooting android setup screen came up and my data was lost followed by lots of force closes - I went ahead and applied "galaxys-efsbackup.zip" and flashed "CM7 kernel" as instructed. After rebooting the phone was on CWM Recovery 3 and I tried "“mounts and storage” which did not worked.
Now, I have flashed back the SpeedMod kernal and back to CWM recovery 2.51 but restoring backups is not succeeding, pls. suggest how to get my phone back to a working state ?
Click to collapse
This is now resolved I flashed the stock firmware via ODIN.
Pls. anybody for rescue ?
just download your stock 2.2 rom and flash the stock firmware with odin... should fix your problem
I was on Froyo 2.2, can I update to 2.2.1 latest firmware ?
Also what ODIN version and options should I flash with.
This is now resolved I flashed the stock firmware via ODIN.
having a wierd problem, as the title says i am unalbe to change roms and have it boot.ever since i flashed the ROGERS 2.3.3 (containing i896 ROGERS bootloaders)
no big surprise i didnt like it.
while reading this keep in mind i have alot of experience flashing, and yes lagfix was disabled!
odin flashed a CWM kernel (one was using before rogers)
restored Nandroid. (of before ROGERS)
stuck at kernel screen
Flashed different kernel compatible with rom.
stuck at kernel screen
Loaded CWM to flash a custom rom.zip
flashed OK
reboot stuck at kernel screen
Odin flashed i9000 gingerbread (with i9000 GB bootloaders) from few months ago
stuck at kernel
Odin flashed ROGERS 2.1 eclair stock.
stuck at kernel
Odin flashed ATT one click
SUCCESS!!
Odin flahsed Rogers 2.1 eclair
SUCCESS!!
ODIN flashed i897 ATT GB bootloaders
ODIN flashed CWM kernel CWM flash ROM
Restore NANDROID
SUCCESS!!
finally back to normal...**never flashing rogers 2,3,3 again!
or so i thought.
got bored and went to flash a different ROM
STUCK AT KERNEL
had to repeat all above steps!! ALL before it was back to *normal* again
any thoughts to what got permanently messed up????
Did you try reformatting system and cache before flashing a new ROM in cwm? (i'm just guessing here)
yes and the Odin one click re-partitions - wiping everything known.but still the problem exists after flashing my 1st custom rom i am unable to boot into a second ANY rom (stock or custom)
and this is VERY frustrating as i just finnished my own custom ROM and am unable to quickly flash test versions.!!
I don't know. Odin one click should have fixed everything. Did you master clear/reformat the internal Sd?
no not the internal sd.
also i remembered at one point right after being on ROGERS stock 2.3.3
the first rom i tried flashing was a custom build I made with a kitchen tool using cygwin.
anyways after flashing and failing, i noticed the update script i created flashed the zimage to 2 different dev/bml blocks!! one i never seen before.
i stopped using that kitchen tool but is it possible it flashed something to a dev block that odin one click isnt clearing? but it repartitions. that should clear EVERYTHING!
still my problem presists...
flashing issues. cracked screen. might be time to buy a new phone.....
You could use Heimdall to dump your partitions and find out.
Heimdall print-pit...in case u didn't know

Hi All,
My galaxy note is stuck on the Samsung logo and just hangs there.
some info on what I did.
My phone has been rooted (this has been done a while now still on stock rom)
I put phone back to factory settings (as wanted to start fresh) all was fine still rooted
I got a pop-up message about a update so I installed the update phone rebooted
Then I got another message about a update think it was kernel file update
phone rebooted
Then I got another message about android 4 so installed this phone rebooted and now it just hangs when it gets to the Samsung logo.
I can get into recovery mode.
Any ideas what I should do?
I have done lots of searches but did not want to make things worse (if possible)
Should I try and flash ICS using Odin3 v1.85?
Or should I just send phone back to Samsung?
Flash a stock Gingerbread Rom using PC Odin. Then,if you want you can update to official ICS without rooting or root GB and flash custom ROMS.
Dont wipe anything from the default kernel CWM, see if your storage can connect to PC, if yes then copy CF kernel 5.6 lq3 and Abyss kernel 4.2 and flash Abyss kernel first and go to advance reboot recovery, then do full wipe, then flash CF kernel 5.6 lq3
Hi Thanks for the replies
I checked and I can go into recovery and access the sd card
I could not find the kernels you mentioned do you have a link to them
also when I have flashed both kernels will I then have to flash a rom?
maybe the ginger bread one like NoRmAlY_CrAzY said
I found this one that am downloading
N7000XXKKA ------ 2.3.6 2011 November------- N7000CPWKK3 -----------United Kingdom (Carphone Warehouse)
Should I flash that?
-------
ok I flashed the ginger bread rom using rom Odin and its working i'll have to root again now i'll have to go read some threads about updating to ICS
Thanks Angie
