SOMEONE please help me!!! - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

ok heres the deal,
I work for a cellphone place, I was helping a customer and basicly there galaxy s wouldn't connect to kies, SD issue....Anyways she wanted to back up everything, a little hard with kies out of commision. So I backed up her contacts to sim, then mounted her drive and Dragged the entire android sd contents onto her laptop.
I fixed the phone and got it upgraded, but apperently she had some really important stuff in her memo's that she needed and I have no idea how to get it back or even if I can get it back.
Basically I need to find a way to get the memo information back from the sd backup I dragged to her computer
Any Ideas?

well for memo the file endings are usually .vnt so search for those files thats the best help i can offer you

How do I transfer my data with a broken USB port?

I searched the forums and, while seeing several messages about fixing USB ports, I never saw a question like this. If this is a repeat and I missed it, I'll happily go my merry way if someone would kindly point me to the link.
The USB port on my Tilt gave up the ghost after becoming increasingly more finicky about charging and syncing over the last few months. I'm out of warranty and got AT&T to upgrade me to the Fuze since they no longer sell/replace the Tilt.
Now, my issue is...how do I move my contacts, etc. over to the new phone? I immediately ran Sprite Backup and turned my phone off as soon as I discovered I could no longer charge it (to preserve what little battery life, ~40%, I may have left). I know, or strongly suspect, the backup file is useless on the Fuze; so now I have to figure out how to get my data to the new phone given I have a limited window to install and/or do anything with this phone before it dies.
I know I could spend money and fix the port ($80) or buy a cradle with a battery charger ($40). Is there any other option that doesn't involve spending money on my old phone, i.e. software that can be used on the new one or...even better, something free I can do?
For starters, I'd buzz the contacts over the the sim card

As for the backup, could you possibly put in a flash card and load the backup or whatever else you wanted to save to the card ?
what about using the SD card as a "shuttle"?

assumptions:
1. you have a microSD card
2. it is a reasonably sized microSD card with enough free space
3. you have a pc/laptop with a card reader as well as an internet connection
pop in the microSD card into your desktop/laptop...download PIMBackup (search for it on xda) and put the installable on the microSD card. download any other cabs of backup programs you might need and put them on the microSD card
Step A:
pop in the microSD card into your tilt...install and run PIMBackup to take care of items like contacts, messages, etc. make sure you save the output archive file on the microSD card. now using the Windows Mobile File Explorer, copy the contents of "\My Documents" (and any other data on your device file system) to "\Storage Card".
Step B:
remove the microSD card from the tilt and pop it into your fuze...install and run PIMBackup on the fuze and restore the archive you created on the tilt to the fuze. if there are some files that were originally on your tilt's file system that you want to keep on the fuze's file system, copy them back from "\Storage Card" to "\My Documents" (or relevant location) on your fuze (assuming you copied these said files from the tilt in Step A above).
thats it!!!

MicroSD Car Messed Up

My SD card has started acting up on me. Recently, a ton of folders with gibberish symbol names showed up. I can't delete these folders in either my phone or my PC. These folders have nothing in them. I can't transfer files to or from it. While in my computer, the card window will occasionally freeze and tell me the thing has stopped responding. I have made sure the lock switch is open on the adapter. I'd like to flash a new ROM but the card won't even open in my PC. Says I need to format it before I can use it, but no method (freeware, Explorer, CMD) will work. I get thrown messages about how it won't work or whatever. In fact, I was trying diskmgmt.msc while typing this earlier but I got a BSOD memory dump. First time I've had one on this PC. Anyway, anyone know what I can do? I just want it to work, I paid a lot for this card. I have a feeling it's because I let the device format it, but I dunno. IF it helps, I'm running Win7 x64. Thanks.
Like you said, your MicroSD is probably done for. You might try to format it using your PC. But it probably won't work.
Some manufacturers offer lifetime warranty on flash memory so you might be able to swap it for a new one since this obviously isn't your fault. I've done so with at least two memory cards before (but then again I'm from Europe so it might be different for me).
I'm on my second MicroSD card, after I started getting warnings that certain files couldn't be accessed.
Actually, the second one (both are 8gb: first was a SanDisk, 2nd is a Kingston) gave me a warning yesterday.
Never has this problem with other phones... I don't know if the MicroSD format is prone to this sort of thing, or it is an interaction with the X1 - but it doesn't inspire confidence.
I think I will do a weekly copy of all files from the card onto my PC.

Forgot Password of my Htc Pure

Hi forumer,
I am the owner of a Htc Pure with Windows Mobile 6.5, The problem I am having today is that i have had a password on my phone since i got it, and at somepoint the other day managed to change it without realizing it, Now i know there is no way around the password screen, no default password, nothing left to do but a hard reset. But i was wondering since i didnt think i would ever do something this stupid i always forget to back up my phone. But was wondering if there is anyway with a windows mobile phone to put a auto running .exe file on a micro sd card to extract the contents of the main memory, I've done it for a windows based computer and external hard drive, but i know nothing about windows mobile phones.
Looking for any help!!!
Thanks
Unless you can access the internal file structure, don't think there is anything you can do? In the future you should get a backup program to restore from.
I assume (sorry I don't use PW) it won't sync to PC unless PW is entered?

[Q] Dell Streak 7 Bricked or Virus- How Can I retrieve my internal data?

I bought two of these through T-Mobile. My wife's is still working, but mine is bricked. It happened the first week of August 2011 during trip in the Philippines. I maxed out my internal drive with videos, and was in the process of moving them to the SD Chip, but before I had a chance it bricked on me and is now in a continuous loop at the logo screen. Anyhow, I need newbie help, because I have never dealt with Android issues like this. Is there anyway, I can get my photos without formatting? Is there an update?
I did manage to free up 1.5 gigs internal before it bricked on me. But my videos of the country and my family are what have been lost.
I tried to Factory Reset the (option #1, user data only), but afterword still loops. I really had some nice videos that I do not want to lose in my gallery. I was hoping I could upgrade to a new version in order to save the data. Is there any hope?
I have read other forums, and seems you must format.
This really bites!
To add to the confusion, after we got back to my wife's parents house I put the SD Card in my wife's laptop to see if any videos or photos were moved over. After shutting down her computer to eat with her family, my wife's computer began doing the same thing my tablet was doing with Windows XP Media Edition. I was lost at this point, because I became suspicious of a virus or trojan. Could this have been a virus? Because now her computer loops into the blue screen of death screen and never boots up. I know this may have nothing to do with or maybe it has everything to do with it, because her laptop is a dell, too! LMAO!
It was a hell of a trip. Experienced an Earthquake and two Typhoons there to add to it! LOL! But I had great time!
You can use nvflash method to restore your ds7. Look through this section for thread "Restoring the Streak 7 using NVFlash".
To keep the content of your internal sd card from being over written, follow the instruction here:

It will tell you to do not use p22.img.

Fastboot into clockwork recovery from your computer ( open command prompt to your tools directory after copying the clockwork recovery image in the android sdk directory and type : fastboot boot streak7cwm.img ,then Mount storage and copy them off
Ps
Streak7cwm.img is what I named the clockwork recovery image as I work with several devices on my computer. If you download the image here it will have a different name. I fastboot all my devices externally into cwm without issues. Hopefully you can still get into fastboot. If so, your data should be recoverable.

{DELETE}A Little Help Needed

OK. So I need a good amount of help. I completed screwed up my phone. I was having issues with my G-mail account so I went to delete it. For some reason I was unable to. Told me I had to go into settings and reset the phone to default settings. I connected it to my computer and download a new Rom. I get a pop up on my screen and it asks me to if I want to format. I figured I don't need anything so why know. I had the 8GB SD Card and a different piece of storage for the important stuff.
Oh man. Apparently EVERYTHING is stored on the 8GB. Or there isn't separate storage. What ever it is I really really screwed the pooch here.
So I am assuming I have to install the firmware first. But that part I don't know how to do. I was able to install different ROM's without any problem. And format like a champ.
Can anyone please help me after you all get over the face / palm feeling. Thank you so much.
This can be deleted. I have fixed this phone.
