Default selected is better {32}
Thanks very much. But if I set it higher, will it cause error?
Sent from W8 using XDA App
Wont cause error maybe but i heard larger vm heap size, the shorter the battery life. If im not wrong, the vm is kinda related to performance/gaming

It's 32 as default for GingerDX. What about stock rom? Is it the same?

Currently using stock gb 2.3.6 and I just changed my wallpaper to static and deleted most of my running apps only to see my usage of ram is 400/800, any chance I can lower it even further without doing any flashing to the from...
Thanks

Maybe because sometimes I run multiple tasks and next thing you notice is my usage is clocked up to 799/800 and lag is visible!

must be doing alot tp hit the top mark. Anyway tp answer your question nope abojt 400 is as low as you will get the os uses the rest.
If you want to save more you will have to use a lighter rom

Either you are drunk or your keyboard has been cheating on you
+1 on the lighter ROM OR
At OP: there is an app called system tuner, where you could decide which applications should start, using that you could have a restricted start up and "might" be able to reduce memory usage.

I'm running steel Droid 5.1 and I was wondering what the recommended VM heap size is for ics. I saw it somewhere a while back but I can't find the post anymore. Also what does VM heap do exactly? What does changing the values do?

I'm not sure what it does, but i know I read the exact same thing. I believe it was 88 (all the way right on ROM Toolbox). Unfortunately, I am only about 70% sure.

There are several apps in market which does this..I personally use Data Counter Widget..Its a simple widget(290K) and doesn't consume much of your RAM. Supports 2G,3G and WIFI.But there is always a difference on who your operator monitors the data and and the way APP monitors it. Set the limit to 90% of the threshold and you will be good :good:
You can use several apps for that. I have tried 3G Watchdog and My Data Manager.....both are very light weight and accurate.
Try and see which gives the most accurate data count for you. :good:

Hi there, especially to all the masters here.. I'm just confused of what the Seeder really does in our device. Please anyone who could give advice if this apps really do a significant to galaxy mini. Others said that it was just a placebo effect, Anyway, when I'm using it I can't really notice a great change of performance or it would just be the way I used it... TIA.! Godbless
It depends on the device and it's usage
It only reduces the extra lag (which should not happen)
If the lag is normal then the app cannot do anything about it
got a good explanation, i'm clear now.i guest,, thank you for the respond, i should continue use of seeder...:thumbup::thumbup:hahah

seeder
usually is used for cm9+ roms cause they're laggy
thank you for the info men... btw what's the best setting for this?? eg. light, moderate, heavy. and for i/o to extend, how it affect the performance of mini, tia,,

Don't know about both of them
But as far as I have understand the option I think i/o extend will increase the number of inputs which can be placed in the line
(this is just my thinking I don't know what it really does)

Chage the kernel and you'll get OC to 902Mhz (available 998Mhz in CM builts) but I think using 800Mhz with SmartassV2 governor it's enough. Even you can use scripts as Fly-on Mod or Adrenaline Engine to boost your performance experience
About ram, you CAN'T increase RAM amount you only can use swap partition but in my opinion it's not necessary to increase performance. And it's dangerous to your sdcard's life
Thanks dude...

Another solution on CM roms would be zram. With this method you also get more free ram

My kernel: 2.6.35.7
Max CPU stepping: 998 mhz
i dont recommends to overclock the cpu over 850 mhz, but its drain the battery too much and the lifespan of the phone will be smaller...

Zram isn't a good solution for ace. It is very unstable and phone reboots often.
The best solution is to enable KSM and purgeable assets. You must try it because ksm doesn't work good on some ROMs and could make your phone slower while purgeable assets could make slower the phone while you're switching apps in multitasking due to the reload of images from disk.

You could install Pimp my Rom from the market and enable ksm and purgeable assets from there. With that app you can do a lot of more things but you must be carefull!

EDIT*
If you talking about rafaels kernel then you are wrong. that kernel actually its not overclocking the cpu there are calculating mismatch
Install the app Seeder and set the value to moderate. You'll free about 40% of your ram and the device will run much smoother than before.

What? Where did you get this information?
Seeder doesn't free up ram, it will even consume more ram if you are using the Seeder app.
Seeder only makes sure that there is enough entropy in the entropy pool, so the apps don't have to wait until the entropy loads.
Thats why the apps load faster, not because there is more free ram.

hmm okay..
I really can't imagine this can clean up the ram. Actually it only makes sure there is enough entropy in the pool..
I'm also using seeder which is integrated in Fly On, but it (sadly) never cleans up ram
But well, if its working for you its great
