Posting here because I can't post on the dev thread being a newbie and all. I've installed [ROM][ICS][ITL41D] teamhacksung's ICS Port for Galaxy S (BUILD 8) and for the most part it's working great! Really love the changes in ICS over GB.
I had CM7.1 installed, I did a data wipe/factory restore, cleared cache and even cleared dalvik cache, installed ICS and then installed Gapps 5.1.
I have two major issues with Market:
1) When on the Market website it shows a bunch of apps in the INSTALLED state to my phone but due to the wipe they are not installed.
2) When I click install on an app from the website it says "This app will be downloaded to your device shortly." but then I never see it on my device.
I CAN install apps via Market from the phone though with no issues.
I've restarted, verified internet connection, etc. I even tried reinstalling Gapps.
Any ideas?
I know there have been times mine would not download anything after I used the website until I went on my phone and downloaded something else, then it like "wakes up" and downloads what I sent through the website. Have you tried that? Also, you are making sure you Ars logged into the same google account on the website as your phone, right?
Sent from my ice creamed Captivate
Yeah I've been able to successfully download from the phone... still nothing on the site. And yes, same google account as on the phone - if I initiate a download/purchase from the website it does show up on the phone market app under the not installed portion of My Apps...
I've also tried with Wi-Fi enabled/disabled, tried switching to airplane mode and back... still no go.
SOLVED!
Pain in the ass though. Did factory reset/data wipe from within ICS, including formatting the SD card. Reinstalled CM7, booted, booted into recovery, then wiped cache/factory reset, reinstalled ICS then booted, booted into recovery, installed Google Apps and it seems to be working. Still shows up on Market website as "Installed" but allows me to select the phone and it does sent the push install.
Must have been some data setting that was preventing it. Oh well, good to start with a fresh phone once in a while

I tried to do the lagfix on my phone. I dont know what was meant to happen but I had noticed it ran the creating 1gb file a few times. I restarted the phone and it wouldnt come back up so I done a clear cache and factory reset. I no longer have a boot menu and cant access google market or even sign in to google account to setup the market.
Any ideas? Samsung App store works just fine... Im using wifi.
How can I remove EVERYTHING i just done? How can I make the phone the way it came out of a box?
remove the lagfix if u can then boot into recovery and wipe data and reflash with a stock rom is my suggestion but i don't know much, good luck.
I removed the lag fix, wiped everything and still nothing. Returned the phone to samsung and they reflashed the stock rom as I have no idea where to find the stock rom and Kies wont do it.
Background :
Yesterday I was messing around with my phone and managed to screw up the OS while trying to install some mods and had to flash it again. Flashing went fine and everything was functioning including the market for the first few hours. I downloaded and installed about 10 or 15 apps (both paid and free) everything installed fine. But when I was installing Catch Notes (free) from the market my wi-fi connection lost internet and the download got stuck at 89%, then I went back enabled 3G data and tried again. That time when I clicked install , I got Downloading : catch notes, catch notes (it appeared twice) in the notification area with a circled number 2 appearing next to the download icon on the top status bar. But after a while the download went into “Download paused” state. Now I can’t finish installing catch notes nor download any other app from the market. When I try to install any app from the market now I get "Starting Download" and then immediately after I get "Download Paused" message and stops there with a green stripes animation where the download progress bar usually appears.
What I have tried so far
I went through this thread and tried most of the suggestions:
Cleared the cache of Market and Download Manager.
Rebooted in to recovery mode (3e) and wiped the cache partition
Checked the IMEI number, they match.
I tried clearing and rebooting the phone many times. Even waited almost a day and tried everything again. Switched between 3G and Wi-Fi (internet works on both modes).
After wiping all the caches I stopped getting Catch notes app trying to download twice, but thats the only change.
Any ideas ? I really don’t want to flash it again or factory reset/format SD card or wipe all user data.
P.S : Galaxy S GT i9000 (international), unlocked no branding, running stock 2.2.1 (JPY) [updated through Kies with reghack] rooted, but no mods or lag fixes installed.
Managed to fix it. I uninstalled the market update, and cleared all the caches, rebooted the phone and it started working.
Now wondering how to get the new market, if it doesn't get updated automatically guess I'll have to copy the new apk manually..
EDIT : New market appeared automatically after a phone reboot. . Everything back to normal .
I just installed CM9 via the Novacom2 method. The tablet seems to reboot itself after a few minutes of being booted up for no apparent reason. I can start up the device, and not even touch one thing, and after a bit it will self reboot.
Anyone experiencing this? Should I do a reinstall? Novacom2 method, or a complete factory reset with CWM?
CM9 runs extremely smooth otherwise, but I can't have it up for more than 5 minutes with a self reboot. It's bizarre.
Thanks in advance people...
I meant ACMEInstaller2 where I wrote Novacom2 ....
The only time I got random reboot is if I try to overclock. I went to replace CWM with TWRP today, and checked in CPUspy something quick. I had 36 hours of up time (remember this only dropped 4 days ago). Initially I tried to OC, even only going one step up I got freezes, and reboots. But leaving it at stock frequencies I have zero stability issues.
I would say to start fresh. With a fresh downloaded copy. Go into CWM and wipe data / factory reset, wipe cache, advanced > wipe dalvik, mounts > format system, data, cache, then reinstall, and install the charge fix. Then don't restore anything, and see if that fixes it.

that may be the route I go. After about 15 reboots it is currently holding steady I have not made any interventions.
As a side issue, I get email notifications but the email app crashes upon opening. Gmail works fine though....

Try fixing permissions and wiping up cache from CWM, that fixes the reboots after power-on for me.
It used to do it if I left the screen to go off, but is fine now
I too am having reboot issues, but it only happens when I'm doing something. So far trying to open the Photoshop PS Touch app will cause a reboot, clicking settings in boat browser, etc. It's strange as hell.
I as well get the stock android mail client crashing when opened but its notifacations and gmail all work. I just installed maildroid and disabled stock email and seems to work OK

I have the same issue, but normally when the screen is on, it always reboots when I try to connect to usb storage, I have a galaxy s2 running on stable(nightly had too many bugs). anyone has the same problem?
I usually get reboots when I let the screen turn off due to inactivity. I tried installing TWRP and doing a clean install from there but it rebooted at the setup screen for CM9. I've had reboot issues since I first installed CM9, but its improved a little bit. I did try uninstalling android completely then reinstalling, but still got reboots. Does anyone have any other suggestions?
I think the best thing to do is use ACMEUninstaller to complete remove Android from your TP, then reinstall from scratch. I had reboot issues after upgrading from CM7a2 until I did a complete wipe.
I've been using Rocket Rom v22 for a while and it's been great, but from about two days ago the Market has stopped downloading. It says it's starting but all I get is the bar moving but no actual progress.
I've followed Googles instructions and cleared the caches and data, I've logged in and out of Talk, I've uninstalled Market and reinstalled from Titanium backups and apks, I've rebooted umpteen dozen times, I've booted into recovery and cleared Dalvik and the cache and still nothing.
It's driving me nuts at this stage, has anyone got any more ideas to try?
may be its rom related. try to reflash the rom.
yes. must be rom related only.
Okay, I did a ton of research on this, but when I flashed the ROM, I ended up with some major problems. I hope someone can help. Here's the deal:
Started with the stock ROM (Gingerbread 2.3.6), no overclocking
Backed up apps & data with Titanium Backup
Backed up contents of both internal and external SD card to my PC
Backed up phone to external SD card using CWM 6.0.1.2
Performed ROMwipe
Flashed odexed build, CM10_LINARO_20130118_ODEX_IRX120
Flashed DemonsBlood v8
Flashed Gapps
Rebooted
Now, the new ROM was working, but I started having trouble navigating and certain apps would force close, or I'd get messages that certain things had stopped working. Also, I could not figure out how to set up my home screens and wallpapers and settings and such the way I wanted. So I decided to go back to my stock ROM. But when I flashed my backup, the phone now acts as if it's been factory reset (although I can still boot back into CWM recovery). Also, when I download Titanium Backup, Facebook, and other apps, they force close upon launch.
I have wiped the ROM, fixed permissions, and tried again, with no success. I've copied the files I backed up to my PC back to the phone, but no joy there, either.
Ideally, I'd love to get my phone back to where it was before I attempted this - or, as a second choice, go forward and use the new ROM & Kernel, because I was pretty excited about trying it out. But I feel like I've lost a ton and now it's not working properly at all.
Can someone help me restore this? And tell me where I went wrong?
UPDATE: In CWM Recovery, I selected flash image from external SD card and selected CM10_LINARO_20130118_ODEX_IRX120, then rebooted. Now it gets stuck at the boot screen (Samsung Galaxy Exhibit 4G, Exclusively from T-Mobile). I tried booting into recovery, but no luck - same result, stuck at the boot screen. So I booted into HBOOT (vol down + power), got a warning about a custom ROM with a choice to reboot or proceed. Since I figured rebooting would just put me back at the boot screen, I chose to proceed. It is now showing the following:
ODIN MODE
PRODUCT NAME: SGH-T679
CUSTOM BINARY DOWNLOAD: NO
CURRENT KERNEL: SAMSUNG !!
Then there's the android icon and underneath it says:
Downloading...
Do not turn off target!!
Sigh. Help.
Okay, I got out of ODIN mode and managed to reboot into CWM recovery. Progress! I wiped the ROM, flashed CM10_LINARO_20130118_ODEX_IRX120, SpeedyGonzalez_OC_1.5.5, and Gapps, and rebooted.
So now I'm running CM10 Linaro, Odexed, with SGK. Okay. **deep breath** The first thing I see after the boot screen is "Welcome, choose your language" and then "Unfortunately, Google Search has stopped."
OK.
Signing in with Gmail . . . (screen does not auto-rotate at this point)
Contacting Google, then again "Unfortunately, Google Search has stopped."
Completed setup, then again "Unfortunately, Google Search has stopped."
Going to Play Store to get Titanium Backup. And a few more apps.
Auto-rotate now works.
Into Titanium Backup and I get this warning: "This device's Android ID has changed. This normally happens after a device replacement or factory reset. The Android ID is the most common way for apps to identify the device. Any app that relies on it for security/licensing purposes may stop working (or need to be reconfigured) unless you restore the previous Android ID now." with a choice: Keep the new one, or restore the old one (I only have the free version, so this choice is not available).
Should I get my apps back from Play Store or Titanium Backup or both? (I now know to restore the "app only" from Titanium Backup.)
I'm going to keep plugging away at this. Any suggestions for my next steps?

i would suggest using TWRP recovery, backing up your internal, wipe cache 2x , wipe dalvik 2x , factory reset 2x, wipe rom 2x, and wipe internal 2x. then flash rom and gapps
