First off,
I love this site, I normally come here to troubleshoot my issues w/ eletronics and always helpful... Thank you!
That being said.... here is my issue:
I have searched every thread i could find... tried everything I could, and still am having difficulties:
My verizon LG revolution is stuck in fastboot, but completely unable to get out. I have followed the instructions by TheCubed here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1131671
arvinoids here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1088046
and mazodude here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=878786
Backstory...
I was unrooting my Revolution (which had gingervolt on it) because I have a replacement on its way (not getting here till thursday though)... My phone had kept randomly turning off every 20 min or so.
While using LGNPST i began to have the v7.tot file installed on the phone... my computer froze at about 17 percent, then the phone shut down (my computer had to be restarted at this point).
I got the pc up and running again and then hooked up the phone, which is now not showing in LGNPST. powered phone on and got:
Fastboot mode started
USB init ept @ 0x3e000
smem ram ptable found: ver: 0 len: 6
fastboot_init()
fastboot maximum download size : 450 mbytes
udc_start()
--reset--
--suspend--
--portcharge--
--reset--
--suspend--
--portcharge--
--reset--
--suspend--
--portcharge--
I have tried the Fastboot erase recovery (and flash recovery)
on the phone screen i got :
error no.2: failure sending write command to the fastboot
On the computer screen I got :
FAILED (remote: failed to erase partition)
I have followed the 3 threads above to a t... Has this happened to anyone else? Is there a way I can force the v7 (or older) firmware to the phone without LGNPST?.... I need this phone functional for the work week (as well as being functional when I turn it in...)
Thank you so much for the help in advance. I look forward to posting on here more often now!
I apologize if the answer is out there. I have 5 different tabs with the resolutions given actually fixing the issue, but havent seen anyone run into this yet..

I personally don't know how to fix it but I do have an idea on how to explain what is wrong with the phone if Verizon says anything Just say it was doing one of it's reboots and rebooted into that Let them deal with the issue. As for you not having a phone I'm clueless on that
Is this phone still under one year warranty with Verizon??

Yeah I had that part pretty much down... I think i will be all set there as they know I am returning this one because of the frequent rebooting. I just hope when they get it all powered up that it doesnt say "gingervolt" haha. (I believe I am getting a droid charge sent to me as a replacement because this is my 5th revo... I had been having the issues where the screen was black and only the softkeys were lit up...)
Thanks though! I will keep trying different tactics with the command prompt (seeing that LGPST doesn't recognize it... I primarily need it because I do a lot of my work stuff on my phone when I am on the road. This will make this week tricky...

Yes, It is, and I am getting a replacement sent to me (but they need to order from the warehouse to get the back/battery because I am getting a Droid Charge I believe...
The only issue is that I need the phone for work... My replacement won't get here till Wednesday-Thursday.

Yeah I found that out the 4th new phone I got.... haha. I got used to that, in fact, that didnt happen with this phone. This phone just shuts off on its own every 20 minutes... haha
I've had a person fix their phone following these instructions:
adrenaline_rush said:
Its not hard to fix at all, you will have to install the Java JDK, Android SDK, and three files AdbWinApi.dll, fastboot.exe, and CWMrecoveryrevolution.img which is the clockwork recovery for our phone.
Here are the files in .rar format.
http://www.mediafire.com/?eb3219cy0lbc71m
Android SDK
Java JDK
The first version should work
1. Install the Android SDK to your C: drive. Make sure the SDK and all the files are in C:\androidSDK. This will make things easier later.
2. Open the SDK and install the additional AndroidSDK platform tools package
3. Install the Java JDK
4. Unzip the .rar to c:/androidSDK/tools
5. Open command prompt, start> type "cmd"> press enter
6. Plug in phone
6. Assuming you placed everything in the right folders, type the following into the command prompt
Code:
cd c:/androidSDK/tools
7. You should now be in the correct folder, paste this command next:
Code:
fastboot erase recovery
then:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery CWMrecoveryrevolution.img
If that succeeds then type the final command:
Code:
fastboot reboot
Hopefully this works and is understandable

Thank you... but that is where I have been running into issues, I actually have that thread in my OP i think... It is not allowing me to push through cmd.
I am getting all types of errors through command prompt.
Shots in the dark here, but maybe uninstall/reinstall the driver and/or try another USB cable.

Idk if this is mentioned anywhere or has been tried yet. But if cwm is still on the phone try to boot into it and mount /system. see if it will let you do anything that way.

You the Android SDK installed with the Platform-Tools add-on? Also the JDK installed? Also the three files AdbWinApi.dll, fastboot.exe, and the Clockwork recovery.img together in the same folder?

Just double checked and yes... still coming up with the same error. Unfortunately I think that the phone has no OS right now... I mean, it was an unrooting process throwing on v7, which means if v7 failed, even my rooted firmware is no longer on the phone.. right?
Edit: the reason i believe i dont have a recovery to begin with is it is failing under the command erase recovery...

Sounds like this issue is deeper than most have experienced, being that it has to do with the .tot failing and not just a corrupt recovery installation.
Can you get to the battery charging screen? On my phone the battery charging screen comes up and the LG program was ready to flash the phone

hi everyone, im new to these forums. i want to love my n1, but cant. my service is horrible here in miami florida. so bad that tmobile keeps giving me free months of service instead of a solution.
i was told about holding the phone a certain way, but its so unnatural. but i understand that a few firmware updates helped out the signal issues. me and my sons nexus ones are fluctuating 20-50 dB's at a time.
so i try to root using the cyanogen wiki's instructions. the second i type in adb devices into my windows 7 cmd window, i get the following. "adb is not recognized as an internal or external command"
i repeated the steps in the wiki and have no idea what i am doing wrong.
can anyone assist please?
Mod, if i posted in the wrong section i am sorry; feel free to move thread.
thanks all!

No I used the windows cmd window. I saw the android cmd window but it wouldn't let me type in it. Was I supposed to type in the android window?
Before you go and unlock the phone and install cyanogen, are you sure you want to go down that road? I don't think there are any reception improvements in any of the custom ROMs, so if that's what you are hoping for you might be disappointed.
You may lose your warranty if you do it, and you are going to permanently lose the over-the-air upgrade system that Google uses to push upgrades out with.

You need to read up a lot more on how your computer works, and directory structures, and cmd windows and all that. If you are already confused you could just end up breaking your phone. First thing is to install the SDK. Get that done, then read some more, etc. Do it slowly.

Thanks for the heads up. The sdk is definately installed.
I heard that the other radios perform better. I need a miracle, I drop 60% of my calls according to tmo. So does my sons n1's. My daughters cliq and wife's bold9700 are always on 3g
What Baseband version do you have installed on your phone? It's under Settings -> About phone.
You should be running the newest radio firmware already I would think.

I don't know it off the top of my head. But its definately current.
Well if you want to check it out, I believe "32.26.00.24U_4.04.00.03_2" is the newest. If that's what your phone has then I don't think there is any value in unlocking.
An update from Google should be coming or announced before the end of the month, so maybe it'll have some fixes for you. If not, than at that point I would go ahead and unlock it.
i went ahead and successfully unlocked the boot loader. im trying to load the recovery.img via a terminal app on my phone but i get a message saying permission denied. i heard that there was a way of loading the recovery.img through rom manager, so i tried it.i got a message saying an error occurred while attempting to run privileged commands.
any ideas?
thanks!
seems like i dont have superuser.....
Yup, when I type su in terminal I get a message telling me that I don't have those privaleges. Any ideas? I'm Googling but can't find results.
i find the instructions in here relatively newb friendly. But read all carefully before rushing into action.
Stock to Root:

Recovery Image:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=611829
CM ROM (if that is what you would like to have)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=623496
and... do all the above first, before you mess with the radio image. all over the above is relatively safe/cannot brick your phone but wrongly flashing radio image can brick your phone permanently (especially if you run out of power or pull the battery during the radio update process)
Thanks. I'm er27. Do I flash with or without himen?
to make it very simple, i'd just recommend first:
1) flash Amon_Ra's recovery image 1.70 (i sent you the link earlier)
2) flash Cyanogen CM5.0.6 (I sent you the link earlier)
3) flash CM's google-addon (on the same page)
CM5.0.6 includes Himem, no need to flash separately.
See how it goes.... THEN you can try flashing radio to EPE54B, but please read all related to that careful. the command is simple, but if you pull your battery during the update, or the phone runs out of power, or you otherwise try to interrupt the process, your phone WILL BE permanently broken. Sometimes the radio update takes a long while (15 min or so), and it seems unresponsive, then you have 2 automatic reboots - those moments can be frightening. best would be to leave the phone plugged into the power socket while you doing it

ok so here's what I did to royally screw up things on my tablet. I had installed the latest Streakdroid ROM and wasn't getting any data connection at all though it showed on the taskbar at the top that I did. I decided I was going to follow the steps in the thread that had the instructions on how to bring back to factory settings so I can start fresh. I had gotten to the part where I was about to execute the fastboot command and my computer never detected that the tablet was hooked up at that point. Now when I go into recovery, I have the stock recovery loader that dell put in and the streakdroid rom's wifi doesn't work so I can't do anything at all. not even download a file explorer to install the rom manager or anything...i'm afraid that I've really screwed things up. any help would be greatly appreciated.
Reflash cwr. Then flash another rom you flash a stock build that wiped cwr and replaced it with stock. Your fine.

Dude you are far from bricking this device.
=) You should be good following Hellya's suggestions
Good luck with that/
Backdrop:
1) Phone from a friend took over his contract.
2) Attempted to reset to default
3) Phone will only boot to CWM 4.0.0.2
Tried:
1) All parts of http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=19154278
The 'tot' files would not install, got 'block count' errors
2) Found mtmichaelson's RevoZV7GBStock.zip... It had a successful install (yay) but it still boots to CWM (boo)
3) Grabbed mtmichaelson's GingerVolt 2.0, downloaded it, it successfully installed (yay) but booted to CWM (boo)
4) Also have used LGPNST with no success
Conclusion: HELP!!
I can install certain ROMs but it is as if the bootloader does not doesn't load. Maybe something needs to be set, like Windows needs that "Primary Disk - Boot" information...
I have 7 days, and then I'm paying my termination fee before the next bill date.
I will appreciate any help or suggestions.
Thanks everyone!

Hi Guys,
I'm aware this is not uncommon but Ive never encountered anything like this before. Im trying give my htc one a fresh wipe and return back to stock, but I cant for the life of me get fastboot to recognize my phone. Therefore I cannot relock the bootloader.
Ive tried uninstalling drivers and reinstalling driveres in bigdaddys pack - between pc reboots
Ive tried koushs driveres install and uninstall - between pc reboots
My usb ports are 2.0 and not 3.0
Debugging is enabled.
Im in fastboot (its highighted in red) on bootloader screen.
Im still s-on
EDIT: I also removed HTC SYNC
All of this and still nothing. Im wondering now if Im not running the command correctly, but im pretty sure its "fastboot oem lock"?
My only other thought is that I ran vipers rom for a while but then did full wipe and then ran a cm based rom (Avater). I noticed this messed with the partition on the phone, hence why im trying to return to stock and bring partition back to normal.
Any advice or sugestions would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Thanks, I checked and I have quite a few updates, might be on to something because I noticed a few usb driver updates required too. However, as per murphys law, for some reason the "install" button for all the updates is faded out and unclickable. I feel like my mother trying to click the unclickable. I checked the agreements and agreed but it wont let me update? If worse comes to worse, i can try reinstall the whole thing but that seems a little drastic.

did you open the sdk manager as adminstrator, it won't update if you didn't.

Thanks, but i ran as admin. Ive noticed each update "depends on missing SDK platform Android, API18", so something seems to be up. Looks like im on the right track though so thanks everyone

I had the same problem, I erased my android sdk folder and redownloaded and reinstalled the official pack, it then let me update and when I opened cmd, I cd to the platform-tools folder and I was good to go. Hope that helps

Go into device manager on your pc and erase all HTC drivers, then plug in your phone, it should start reinstalling drivers...from there you should be good.

I have an unlocked bootloader on Moto X from sprint. I just need the easiest way to root.
This looked confusing. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2536200. Gotta be another way.
Have considered restoring to stock and taking the dang thing back http://atsgadgets.com/how-to-restor...lite-att-t-mobile-sprint-verizon-us-cellular/. So frustrated.
I've offered paypal to those who can do it successfully. I am so burnt out on trying to make this work. This PITA is not worth android. I have a one click jailbroken phone now. And I have successfully rooted and installed custom roms before but this is totally out of hand how complex this is for me. Maybe I'm just remedial but it seems several are having trouble with this model. For open source, this should not be this tough.
/rant. Almost ready to throw in the towel, but still listening.....
Sorry for the multiple posts. Just trying to get some new opinions. HTC Evo 4 g was done in 10 minutes. This has taken 4 days.

Here, go into Settings -> About Phone and tell me what your Build Number is (at the very bottom).
Do not put in the cmd window mfastboot, just try fastboot flash recovery twrp 2.6.3.1-ghost-4.4.img. Now also put the recovery image in the same folder as fast boot, I believe its SDK tools folder

The method that you thought was confusing, is the one you should use. If I have time, I could try helping you with it.

Plug in your phone and put it into fastboot by typing adb reboot bootloader then type fastboot devices does it show that you are connected?
I will try that as soon as I can and get back to you. I have two computers one at my hotel and one here. I'm not sure I have the ADB tools on my netbook

ya during his four days of misery, he could have just read for 1 hour on the stuff so it would seem confusing anymore and then he would have had a rooted phone. But either way, his problem is solvable with a few simple instructions.
OK Jay/Aooga.
Finally back from work.
Plug in your phone and put it into fastboot by typing adb reboot bootloader then type fastboot devices does it show that you are connected?
open cmd window, typed adb reboot bootloader, and got:
T063202TFL and fastboot, and then a prompt.

Phone is in fastboot mode with white, yellow green text.
Device is unlocked. Status code 3.
Battery OK Charging
Transfer mode USB connected.
It looked as though I had to be able to accept the 4.4 kitkat OTA in order to get this done. but when i went to the usual spot to look for system updates it said there were none available.
Anyhow, I am super grateful for your help. Sorry to be such a remedial doofus
Looks like we can wait till tomorrow. Or today. Or whatever timeline it is.
