Anyone know how to make ring tones loop?
I say this as I am using the Incubus froyo build and when I set it to the Digital Ring (not a custom ring tone) , it only tones once.
This, as you can imagine is quite annoying, anyone know why or how to fix this? Others must be dealing with this problem.
This was talked about before but I'll have to look for it, from what I remember you need to open it in an audio editor and there's some kind of "loop" tag that is set to false on Digital Ringtone. I'll see if I can find the post (unless somebody beats be to it)
EDIT: Here's the post
and HERE is an archive with all the files already looped
Use Bell phone its close. Sorry I don't have a better solution.

Thanks for the link. I remember this being an issue in the past (I have used Android since the beginning). I remember putting the media folder on the SD card and the phone detected automatically.
This is not the case however with my version of froyo. I put the media folder on the SD card with all the audio and the phone isn't detecting the additional ringtones. Is there anything else I need to do?

Download 7zip (google it) and you can open .tar/.tgz files with it.
Download the build you'd like to use and open with 7zip.
Replace the media folder with the new one.
Flash the new androidinstall.
Or here's an androidupdate with the new media. (Haven't tested though)

The update file works perfectly. Finally getting a loop with the digital ringtone. Thank you very much.
hi, i don't know if this is the right thread to ask but how do i set a custom(.mp3) ringtone to android searched google and XDA but couldn't find anything useful that works, thanks
EDIT: don't know if it's important but i'm using Incubus26Jc's Super FroYo 2.2 RLS12 on NAND
The Nexus S has the awesome old school TV shutoff animation when the screen turns off. Unfortunately it comes with the stock click sound.
Anyone know how to change it? I think the file is in /system/ somewhere. I would like to change it to a sound effect like they do on cartoons when the TV is turned off.

there was a thread in the N1 section back when froyo came out full of replacement noise's

Here's a flashable zip to change whatever ui sounds you want...
the zip file attached is just my custom one, key press is only thing i changed but you can put in whatever sounds you want and then resign the zip
Make sure to back up your old ui sounds first in case u want to revert back
Sweet, thanks a lot guys... now to find a TV shut off sound effect.

Share if you do! I like where you're going with this.
Here's one with all the stock sounds except added an electronic sound to the lock key.
I like the animations turned off but for those who run them....
Unfortunately the lock key is mapped to the Lock.ogg file with some delay, so the sound doesn't hit until the screen goes black... would be perfect if the sound mapped while the animation shows...
anyhow, here's something to try... no biggie only takes a couple mins to change...
flash in recovery
There's 2 attached... One is stock to revert back to if need be.
Better....
I found this, converted to .ogg
nxt: Great find!
Just put it in a flashable zip below.... sounds great
Tv sound for nexus s lock

The easiest way i have found to do it, is not even flash at all, just take the Lock.ogg file, put it on your sd card, then copy and paste it with root explorer into system/media/audio/ui/ make a backup of the original of course

In order to flash zips you need to mod your update.script in your META-INF folder
See here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=10660096#post10660096
Here's a flashable zip with an updated script, I'm using clockwork recovery but should also work on Amon's recovery.
Just take my zip and get rid of my sounds and replace with yours and resign. Make sure to backup your own ui sounds first in order to revert back

You have to have root access. The system folder wont show up in astro, you need Root Explorer or some other file manager that uses Root

*Updated 2/6/11 to be flashable with CWM3 or less*
So, after many nights of being awakened by that annoying battery full audio notification I figured I'd do something about it. Here is a flashable zip that replaces the .ogg file that the system uses with a blank one. Will work on any ROM/File System.
Flash through CWM (v3.x or less):

I did something similar to this in my newest version of my ROM, I took the original sound files and made the extension FILENAME.ogg.bak
This removes the sound but if you want it back you can just remove the ".bak" portion of the file name.

I had originally wanted to make a flashable zip that did just that (and also one to change it back)! But I wasn't able to figure out how to tell 'update-script' to do that .

Updated
Updated so it's CWM3 compatible.
What is the name of the sound file that makes the battery full notification sound? I'm too sleepy at night to determine which sound just woke me up.
Thanks.
edit: Is it TW_Battery_caution.ogg? I've renamed it with a .bak extension and charging my phone now.

Installing Silent BatteryFull Notification CWM3
I am a newbie to all of this, but am sick of being awake all night long with the battery notification waking me up and not being able to go back to sleep.
I found your post and attached file.
I have a droid X - global - motorola.
1. Will this work on this phone?
2. Are there any risks of damaging the rest of the operating system?
3. If no - how do I install this on the phone?
Any help to get me back to sleep would be appreciated.
Thank you
No this will not work on your phone. This is a MOD for the SAMSUNG EPIC 4G and ONLY the SAMSUNG EPIC 4G
EB13 OR DK28?
if DK28 i'd like to request an EB13 please
why does the file have to be replaced
why cant it just be removed using some sorta file explorer on the phone?
further more WTF is the reason for this sound other then to wake people up and/or piss them off? - as far as I know all phones stop charging when they get full so you wont over charge the phone
Hey XDA, been away for a while and just finished my first semester of college. Checked up on my old thread to find alot of positive things. A while back I wanted to do more with this and never got around to it, but figured it was about time I did...
The new animation starts somewhat similarly to the old one with added transition between the HTC logo and the vortex. Also after the vortex, instead of a static image at the end I've thrown together a completely new piece that will loop until the phone finally decides to start.
This version also uses JPGs rather than PNGs. I just found out JPGs could be used the other day... After optimizing the PNGs, (something that wasn't considered for the old one) this new one comes out to a total of 234MB... (one of those things that happen when you only use AfterFX for the project...) If anyone would like this anyway... Let me know and I'll put it up somewhere.
I also made a basic splash screen, something that was misadvertised with the old version. It is the first image in the attachments and can be installed thru bootloader. (http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?37e8as4f4m68cwu)
Download: http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?w1ci9p2ugk7271d
If you would like the stock sound to use with this download it from the attachments below, extract the mp3 and add it to /system/media.
GIFs were 4-5MB each so heres a video instead...
Old version has been moved to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=20568970 if anyone wants to check it out.
Thanks for the link, and if you get a chance to try it out let me know how you like it
This is [email protected]$$! Way better then the stock bootanimation
Great work!

I personally used clockwork recovery and did install sdcard/update.zip
Place the update.zip from the download onto the root of the sd card, then in ROM manager, reboot into recovery and install the update.
There are alternatives to this such as just putting the bootanimation.zip into the right folder using root explorer, but I ran into permission problems so I did it this way.
If you have any other questions feel free to ask.

Is this new boot animation really 24MB? Like, I yanked it out of the update .zip because I normally move them with Root Explorer. I find easier, and I have a system to doing this where I save the old ones in the folder and just rename them. Allowing me to swap them out at will by simply altering the name of the bootanimation . zip back to that.
-Edit- NVM. I see why it's 24MB now.
Holy effing sh!t cakes! That's a lot of graphical content to run through there in the beginning. Looks awesome though!
Again, just to anyone reading this that hasn't tried this boot animation yet.

Glad you like it. I would have done the same using root explorer, but I ran into read only and permission problems for anything i tried to use it with. And I really tryed to lower the size the best I could... It was originally 165mb, then found out it was rendering w/o compression (lossless), changed render settings managed to get to 95mb... to get it to 24mb I lowered the quality a little more and it skips every other frame. After uploading it I attempted to make it smaller but all i can do is lower the quality even more, and at 17mb it looked pretty bad.
PS- could someone link me to the stock FinalThunder.mp3 I haven't had it since I flashed my ROM

No I wasn't *****ing about the size. I was checking to make sure I didn't bork something up extracting it. I was just verifying as most of them are 2-6MB.
Here's the Final Thunder .mp3
I ripped it right from the system folder with RE so it should be good. Make sure you check the permissions though. As they may need to be altered to get it to jive with the way it gets read. It should be;
X-X-[0]
X-[0]-[0]
X-[0]-[0]
I think.
X meaning checked.
I had to rar it to post it.
Edit: Yes, that's the way the permissions need to be above, but when it gets extracted it changes them to;
[0]-[0]-[0]
X-X-X
X-[0]-X
So if you just drop it in there it probably WON'T WORK. Make sure you change the permissions!
Again, thanks for the awesome boot animation!
Thanks, I just now noticed the mount r/w button at the top of root explorer >.>
I also did all of this before I saw the post edit, so I did just throw it in there, but it still worked =o

Hardly a fair trade for the kick ass boot animation. But no problem.
Yeah, many moons ago RE owned me until I found that little mount r/w button. After finding it however it's been an extremely useful tool.
I'm surprised the MP3 worked for you actually w/o changing permissions. :shrugs: I'm leaving the warning there in case someone else downloads it for the same purpose and it doesn't.
Which file or folder do i drop this into to make sound work. I am on gingeritis and had to delete the VZW_bootanimation and there is no sound once i swapped that boot animation out with this one?

It's either system/media
or
system/customize/resource
But I think it's system/media
Find the bootanimation .zip and that's where the sound file should go.
I tried putting it system/customize/resource and that didnt do anything so i will try system media I guess just put in the main file or any one of the sbu files I have
audio
GPU
weather
folders in there will try a few i guess?

If anyone wants to try this, it is a zip of the vortex boot animation hopefully with the sound. It is for anyone running a rom that has a boot animation in the system/customize/resource folder and the boot animation is labeled VZW_bootanimation.
Let me know how it goes please
My apologies if the OP does not want this and will take down if asked
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/9663029/VortexBootAnimation.zip
I got the animation to work, but no thunder. Tried everything! I think it may be my current set up (gingeritits and imosyons 2.5.4.test.4 kernel) since day one, there's been no sound. It came with the old school PC looking bootanimation and I read somewhere that, that boot ani is supposed to sound like a disc drive spooling up with clicks n what not, but it never did. I remember on the virus Rom I had, it DID have sound and the .mp3 was called VRsound.mp3. I made my own, fixed permissions, renamed it to VRsound.mp3 and replaced it. That worked. I could be wrong, but because this ROM didn't come with sound in the first place, I just can't get it.... Oh well. Still a tight boot! sound or not!
4Geezy ON DopeDiculous's ROOTED TBeezy!
This shouldn't effect your phone or harm it but if you screw it up its not my fault always have a backup.
I figured I do a how to for some new people or those who never thought of this. Anyways....
1. You'll need some kind of root viewer root explorer es file manager etc. (Make sure your system is rewritable)
2. A .wav file is needed so find one you like however if you don't have one or only have a mp3 then use an online converter.
3.Once you have those two go into your root file viewer and find /system then go into the etc file and scroll down until you see a PowerOn.wav if you don't see one then it's fine. However go ahead and delete it and paste your .Wav file sound and rename it to PowerOn.wav Reboot and you should hear your sound playing. I if not your phone sucks ^^ no but then you did something wrong or your kernel may not support it.
UI Sounds
Okay for UI sounds it very similiar except go into the media folder in /system find audio and look in UI folder. For (the touch sound) find TW_Touch.ogg and delete it and paste your .ogg file you'd liked to use I personally just rename the Effect_Tick.ogg to TW_Touch and it sounds like the normal gingerbread touch tone. (Charger Connection Sound) is the Charger_Connection.ogg and the the full battery notification is TW_Battery_caution and lastly the low battery notification is TW_Low_Battery.
Just reboot and the new sounds shall take effect.
Have fun wasting some time customizing your phone.
