We have MS Exchange server 2007 at our place.
I have 2 exchange accounts. Everything is well setup & running. The only difficulty I am facing is searching emails on server.
On my previous phone (iphone 4) i could do it seamlessly. That was the reason I moved from HTC Desire to iphone 4....
Does the Stock email app support email search on server ?
Is using a third party app my only solution ?
Has any one tried any other email apps on the Note. Do any of them take benefit of Note's screen size ?

Hello! So i'm new to the whole android scene, ive been using iPhones for 2 years, and windows mobile for years before that.
Currently on my phone, i have the gmail app for my gmail, some other email app that came with the captivate for my exchange syncing, and im using K-9 mail for my MSN email accounts (there's 3).
Everything works very well EXCEPT for the hotmail accounts. I would prefer to have all of my email accounts in 1 email app where i can open it up, pick the account and choose the folder i want to view (inbox, junk, trash, sent items, etc..)
Im having a tough time finding one... I'm ok with using 2 or 3 but 1 would of course be ideal. The biggest issue im having is the syncing. Ive tried every setting possible and my K-9 mail will not auto sync with the msn/hotmail servers. The only way to get my mail is to get into K-9 mail and tell it to sync, then after several minutes i'll have everything synced and see my new emails.
Is there an app that can combine all these, or just the hotmail accounts that will sync every hour or so automatically that anybody knows of?
Why not auto-forward your hotmail to your gmail. Or POP your hotmail from your gmail? You can set up a filter to label them as hotmail messages, or even use the multiple inbox lab.
There is no good all in one email app

MSN/Hotmail now supports full exchange sync with email, contacts and calendar. MS claims there is known issue with Android 2.1. In my case, I found the contacts sync doesn't work for me. MS advise you to use Android apps like TouchDown etc to do the sync instead.
The exchange server address is m.hotmail.com and use your email address and password to login.
So, you can use the default email app to add exchange sync for your MSN/hotmail account. The downside is that email app limits you to max two Exchange accounts.
Hi i'm new to android.I recently bought milestone and try to sunc my emails.
With my Tellas acount(a company in greece) emails works just fine. But when i try to sunc hotmail it downloads the messages ok.I delete the unnesesary ones. But the problem is that when i reboot the phone i find out that email's are missing and downloaded again even the deleted ones,or the client crashes and loses all emails.
Anyone had experience the same problem with a hotmail account? Is it the software or a faulty device???
Thats probablt got somthing to do with your Hotmail settings, and not the phone. I use Hotmail, and it works fine after disabling POP and enabling IMAP folders via the PC. try that.
Thanks that worked. After search found out that android 2.1 is not compatible with pop3 hotmail. So thank you again you save me because i'm almost never home.

That's not fully correct. Android is a platform. What helps you with mail is just the application. It does not matter it commes preinstalled as you can easily replace it with other (btw: give K9 mail app a try). Android got nothing to do with 3rd party mail servers not following world defined standards (there shall be no "hotmail pop3" but just POP3 standard). If you can use imap - try it instead but beware account quota. I've also read some too frequent pooling from hotmail (like more often than 15 mins) may cause problems.
ok so search isn't working for me atm..
has anyone had issues with exchange activesync with the native mail client?
more specifically, i've been trying to setup Lotus Traveler manually by using [mycompanyhost].com/servlet/traveler
but it's not working.
on the other hand setup was a breeze on my Nexus 7 with seemingly (only looks-wise i'm sure) the exact same native mail client using the same settings.
if not the native mail client, then...I don't see any free alternatives on the playstore.
p.s. there's no way i'm using the official traveler client lol
thanks

I've got the Traveler ported on my phone. I don't understand exactly what's your problem. You couldn't install the Traveler or configure it? And what is the role of the activesync in this story? Maybe I could help you if you're more specific.

hi piskr
well i'm trying to avoid the Traveler client actually since it hits the battery life pretty hard
instead i'm looking to use the native Email client on the Razr i to setup a Traveler account by way of exchange/activesync
this is done by using the manual method of setting up Traveler where you enter your username and password and server yourself rather than say letting the Traveler client do it for you
but this method fails with the Email client every time saying it couldn't connect to the server
i just think this this is not normal behaviour since it works perfectly fine on a lot of my other devices e,g, most recently, my Nexus 7, where I attempted the exact same setup only minutes after the moto failing.
so I'm just wondering if anyone's run into this or know a workaround even.
K-9 mail only does webdav
and it seems most other activesync-capable mail clients on the store are paid apps
things ive tried:
clearing Email's data and cache
adding the account via Settings instead of Email's wizard (same thing really)
making sure Data sync is on when I do all this
Traveler manual setup:
Server field: [companyhost].com/servlet/traveler (dependent on your server settings)

Hi,
I must say that I've never succeded to establish LN client as a normal email client though I tried with my previous phones (Defy, Defy+). But I constantly use the Traveler client for email and calendar. I never have such experience regarding battery drain. On the contrary: comparing my battery use with others published here I'm far above average. I don't use bloatware, heavy wallpapers and don't play games though. But I use a lot of productive software (3 navigation systems, voip, 2 mails, cameras, tv client...)

then i take it you don't use push, but instead sync periodically?
My experience with the native android email client isn't good as well. It eats a lot of my battery.
To be honest: For connecting a company client I would suggest to take a look at the app TouchDown.
It is not cheap but from my experience it's the best client I ever used and it could replace Lotus Traveler as you can read here: alternative Lotus Traveler clientandroid/
You can try this app before purchasing it.

No, I use the mail as a push. I even receive mail on phone before it arrives to computer client. Mails are truncated though and I expand only those I want. Calendar synchronizes every 10 minutes. But look please at my consuption. In the time it was measured I read 2 mails. I advise you to give the Traveler a try again. Then monitor the consumption and find out whether is the Traveler really the one which drains the battery or is it something else?

No, I've tried the native email with MS Exchange accounts.
Hi,
I'm an IBM Domino administrator.
I'm using the native email client with my traveler server but results are not the same depending of devices.
I'm using a Nexus 4 (Stock rom, non rooted) and it's working well :
For login I'm using the Lotus ShortName
Password= internet password
server= myserver.mycompany.com/servlet/traveler
Port 443
SSL Options : Accept all certificates
If it still not working for you, please tell me the Traveler server version ( Im using latest one : 9.0.1 If3 )
The problem with native email client is if your server require validation for your device, then admin profile cannot be installed before your admin has validated your device.
regards
On my old nexus S I am able to setup up multiple exchange accounts native.
I do an internship in 2 company 2 days in a week and also work in another company 3days in a week and I'm also planning to get office 365 for business for my private company (might sound complicated but it's workable). Doing the maths I need to be able to setup 3 exchange accounts wich works perfectly on my old nexus. (in fact need to set up 4 but I can live without the 4th one).
The important part is mail for 3 of them and callendar for 2 accounts (and if possible see google callendar + exchange callendars in 1 view based on colors) all my contact are on gmail since they overlap and gmail makes it easy.
I was setting up my phone on the htc website "https://start.htcsense.com" but at the end when I reached setting up accounts I'm only able to setup 1 exchange account is this on the device the same or not. Already preordered my htc one so would love to know if I have to cancel my order or not before it arives

It is possible to set up multiple exchange accounts using the HTC email application on the HTC one.
The application in itself is graphically beautiful and a pleasure to use.....however it is functionally lacklustre. Managing folders is a nightmare, the colour of each account cannot be edited etc etc
Do yourself a favour, buy Enhnanced Email from the market and use that.
I also use a pay application for calendar (Business calendar).
Alternatively...wait until an AOSP rom is released...and you will have the same identical software experience you had with the nexus device.
thx for answer if I atleast can set up multiple accounts then thats good
I will look into those aps once I have my one

It is a shame that HTC did not refine their email app. Because it looks fantastic and is really smooth.
BUT
You cannot hide/unhide folders. Visualising emails is a pain as it defaults back to the "all messages" option...and thus if you have multiple accounts....and receive over 100 emails a day...it looks like a mess.
Enhanced email does not look pretty and the Dev has not been too active as of late...but it is functionally faultless in handling multiple accounts and calendars.
Touchdown from nirodesk would be perfect...except...they do not support syncing multiple account simultaneously.
K9 no native exchange support (WebDav does not work on Exchange 2010 servers)
Moxier Email has native exchange support but, imho, is just an inferior version of Enhanced email.
I will certainly look into enhanched email
I liked my old setup with native exchange mail client on my nexus since it looked like the gmail client (with much less features but still worked) and it worked perfectly with google calendar
but I'm willing to give sense a try even if I have to buy some new apps
Well this is an odd one...
I'm trying to set up my Gmail account as Microsoft exchange on the HTC mail app and this is the message I get :
Not even one person has this problem ?!

I have this problem too. After factory restore this message was consistently appearing on my screen.
Didn't have time to look into it more though. Have you managed to fix it?
Why is Gmail considered an Exchange server? If you are actually using an Exchange ActiveSync server, then there is a limit of 10 devices allowable to be configured to connect as default per user. You will have to clean up some older not in use devices in Outlook OWA. Options > Phone.
I only use Gmail on two devices , my HTC one and my MacBook. I guess this is because of my old devices.
So the question is how would i remove my old devices from my Gmail account?
