I can't seem to find a program which will route ALL audio to my mono bt earpiece. If there is such an app pls pst. If not, I'd like to help in the dev of such an app. Basicly, whenever the phone sees any audio bt device it will start routing all audio to that device. And it should have a built in audio mixer to control the different programs' volume levels separately.

As a bike commuter this feature would be great. I typically listen to streams and podcasts where fidelity is not priority one. I use a cheap pair of corded headphones where I chop one ear bud off so that I can keep my left ear, traffic side, open. It would be sweet to have the ability to make/take calls on my commute and listen to audio as well. I know that there are BT earpieces that are a2dp, but should I really have to drop another 40 clams to get one, hells no this is android we get what we want right? That said I would develop a prog to do this but it will take me 6 mos as I have no background. So, to kind devs, myself and several others that I have seen scouring for this sol'n would gladly help test and pay for this functionality.
I have been looking also. Have not found anything to even mention. I used to have it on my old MinMo phone, but that's the ONLY damn thing I miss about it. Anyone have a recomendation.
theres a bunch of cheap A2DP headsets at dealextreme.com just do a search for a2dp
But I do mean cheap dont expect miracles for sound quality or battery life . . . but did I mention cheap?

Sorry to up this "old" topic, but I'm a biker too and i have a scala rider Q2 bluetooth device. This device does not support the bluetooth A2AP x-(
The phone calls trough bluetooth is ok but no music or GPS....
I found a solution : Bluetooth Audio Widget (i could not post the link but you can find it on the android market)
This Widget/application route all the sounds from your device to the bluethoot headphones!

I have been using "Super BT Mono Pro" on my T-Mobile G2. It is working better than a few of the other apps that I have tried. It is also available on the Market.

How do you like that Q2? Does it work well on FM, or is its radio coverage spotty like the other units? I still think they have awesome audio when you are talking to someone. I gave up the Scala Rider FM for a Parrot SK4000.

I've looking at a few head units to replace my existing stereo. I tried a few units with built in bluetooth at the local big box store.
I set up my phone to play both bluetooth audio and attempted to make a phone call, but the 'helpful' store employee asked me to put my phone away (evidently they're afraid I was amazoning the price). I told the guy I was pairing the bluetooth, but he didn't care. Too bad, because making a phone call would've sealed my sale. I guess I'll amazon it.
I was deciding between a Kenwood & Sony... sorry I didn't get a chance to record the model numbers, but they were ~$175.

Actually, they can, inside their store. It's private property and they can ask you to either turn off your phone or leave. If you refuse to turn it off, they can tell you to leave. If you refuse to leave, you're legally trespassing and they can have you arrested.
In any case, they clearly didn't want your money.

Yeah but they can't physically touch you without getting sued. I have two sales / retail jobs.
I have a Kenwood in my car with BT. It auto connects to my Incredible but only if I have the "phone" option under advanced BT settings set to connect. If I just have media set to connect it wont auto connect. But if you use the hands free BT then you'll be fine. It'll auto connect to both phone and media audio.

The guy didn't threaten me, he just kind of shrugged and pointed towards the spy camera. I ended up with a Clarion _Z500 (I forget the first letter) for $50 off since it was missing the remote. I didn't need the remote since I sit 2' away. Thankfully everything can be accessed via the panel.
It's nice (though not as good as the one in my acura). Via bluetooth it pauses music, answers calls, accesses my phone book and makes a decent call with the included mic.

Thats good. If you use. PowerAmp as your music player you can start music and skip songs with BT controls. And IMO its the best music player out, period.

I second the PowerAmp notion, it is THE best. I highly recommend buying full version to help support the dev.

Yeah, but the problem with FM transmitters in my experience is that if you drive between counties you usually have to change stations and the sound quality is meh.
It also doesn't work well anywhere that FM radio signals have trouble getting to.
Are there any wired solutions to playing music in your vehicle??

Thats mainly what I was wondering about was the phone not so much the
reciever as I now I can plug into there.

The Clarion I purchased definitely tags incoming calls, but I'm not sure about tagging MP3s or CDs. I'll check it out.
Hi guys, I'm looking to upgrade the stereo head unit in my car and looking for one that best interfaces with my note in terms of both hands free calls and music streaming/control.
Does anyone have any suggestions for decent head units?
Which connection gives the best control Aux, Bluetooth or USB? (must be between BT and USB).
Would I get better control/dispaly from a SD card in the head?
Is there any head unit that will allow me to brows my music on the phone by artist/album etc, or am I stuck with folder browsing?
Will the car head unit display any details of the music being played, artist, track etc. or even album art?
I use player pro on the note for my music at the moment.
My requirements...
Blue-tooth Hands free calling and music streaming.
Remote Stalk Adapter available.
Front Aux Port.
Variable colour display if possible.
USB
SD Slot as a bonus.
1U preferable but can fit 2U if needs be.
Looking to spend up to around £300 ish.
Any ideas greatly appreciated.

Not at all, I'm looking for constructive replies from people who have some experience with using the note with car stereos. If someone has any relevant experience I'm sure they will help me. If not then nothing lost as far as I can see.
Try this and then let me know so i can buy one! But no.... It really looks promising, finally a company recognizes android needs integration like the piece if crap iPhone!

How is the hunt?
I am using my note in the default head unit that came along with car (Ford Figo)
If you want to control the music from headunit, it better be bluetooth and not the Aux or USB.
If you use Aux, common sense says no control at all.
If you use USB, you can control the songs, but will not be able to answer or make calls with the car head unit.
Hence it is preferred only to use BT, that way the songs will get paused while you answer your calls and all the display is shared with your car audio headunit.

The Pioneer looked as though it would offer a bit more and better integration with android but personaly I prefer the looks of the Kenwood. I had a play with and settled for the Kenwood as it looks good and sounds great. It plays the music on my Notes sd card no problem. And, if you install their music control app it creates a file/database on the sd card so you can browse by Title, Artist, Album, Playlist etc.
The software is realy a music player app which scans your music and created the file for browsing on your Kenwood stereo. It's not a bad effort but a bit slow and lacks some features such as an equaliser. You can set it to play through your favourite player software though so may be worth a mess with.
All in all so far very happy

Really? I had a look through the app list and it was completely dominated by iOS apps. They have half a dozen integrated navigation apps for iOS, zero for android. Same with the music mixers etc. All for iOS. There's only the basic stuff offered for android phones.
Looks a poor, 2nd rate effort wrt android from Pioneer IMO.
As long as it makes the buyer happy ...
For me i only want to listen songs from my mobile.. I switch on the native player from my mobile and use the equalizers on mobile...
Only the output is pushed to the headunit..
Fortunately since it has BT i can jump between songs from the headunit without touching the phone...

I agree it's not perefect but it'#s about the best there is for Android at the moment. At least it's a step in the right direction.
I agree with Coolkriss though, I only want handsfree and to be able to play my music from my phone. I have found the Kenwood does it pretty well both from the USB source and via BT.
My only quibble at the moment is that I can't find a way to stop it automatically switching to USB source when I plug the phone in. I often just want to charge it, connect to handsfree and carry on listening to the radio but it switches to USB as soon as I plug it in.

I would suggest charging via the 12 v USB charger. That way the head unit only does the BT job.
If you still wish to plug it to head unit, try disabling or enabling the USB debug option under settings--> developer

Yes I'm experimenting with various connectivity options. Didn't think about disabling USB debug though. Thanks for the tip I'll try it
Was curious if anyone else has run into issues with audio over Bluetooth being distorted? On mine, when streaming Spotify to my car (extreme quality downloaded to the phone), there is a very noticeable distortion in the high frequencies. It's really pronounced on cymbal crashes.
I really hope this is just my particular phone and not all of the Ones doing this. I really like this phone otherwise but this is kind of a deal breaker for me. :crying:
Does it sound better (test with same song) when you plug it in with an audio cable? What's the MP3 sample rate?

Hey quick question, if your car is capable, did you get the song/artist/album meta-data transmitted? This version of Bluetooth is supposed to have that in the spec...

No idea what the sample rate is. But it's the highest quality on Spotify. Even when it's on the lowest quality it doesn't sound this bad when using my old Galaxy Note 2 or iPhone.
Just tried it with the Aux jack in the car and it sounded fine. In fact, with Beats on, I'd say it sounded excellent. :good:

Maybe I should load up some music locally and see what happens. Out of curiosity, is yours rooted? I don't think that would have anything to do with it, would it?
I am rooted and running viper rom.
Also, it was both local and streamed from Google music.
On a huge side note, it transmits song data too! My EVO lte didn't do that, pretty happy to be surprised by that with the One as I wasn't expecting it.

Awesome. I knew it was in the Bluetooth 4.0 spec, I just hoped it was supported. Wonder if Pandora does the same?

Maybe I'll flash the Viper Rom and see what happens. I'm on stock rooted right now.
Pretty awesome that it transmits that data!! That might be enough for me to get a new deck in my car. It's drives me nuts having blanks screens where the music data should be.

Support of song metadata is part of the AVRCP 1.3 profile, which this phone supports. That is independent of any Bluetooth core version (2.1 vs 3.0 vs 4.0) specification. There are only a few headsets and even fewer cars that support the AptX codec which this phone also supports. Think of the codec as a way of transmitting the audio from the phone to the headset in a higher quality than MP3.
I am noticing distortion on the highs when when streaming music over BT. I think even my EVO3D sounded slightly better than this How is there a ROM already available for the one? Where can I obtain Viper rom?

I was excited to find out that my One was transmitting song data/text to my head unit over BT! my evo3d didnt do that. this is using PlayerPro
This just reminds me of how much I have to test on my phone before it's too late to exchange it.
Generally best to troubleshoot Bluetooth issues for music with the default player first before looking at alternative players. If it isn't working well on the default as well as your preferred player like PlayerPro, that says a lot more.
Well the info from the music player to the stereo is inconsistent. Using the same app, same songs, etc sometimes it shows music info sometimes it doesn't.

Just tried it again using the Viper rom this time and the same issue.
I'll load some music into the phone and use the stock player and see if it still does it.
Well I experimented with it yesterday streaming music from my Amazon MP3 cloud player and it was great...I was streaming to a JBL Flip Bluetooth speaker and it sounded awesome...BUT....we only have 3G in my area so the few little sounds I heard I attributed to 3Gs slower connection speed. I then downloaded a hard copy of the same song on my phone and played it non-streaming and it sounded better. Maybe its just the streaming that distorted the sound for you.
Loaded some MP3s into the One and tried the stock music player in the car is the same results. Super distorted.
I thought this got fixed with ICS. My Galaxy S2 (after the ICS update), S3 Note 2 and my iPhone 4s and 5 all had no trouble streaming to my car over bluetooth. :crying:
Just to clarify, I have had ZERO distrotion issues with music to my car or computer headset. Thats through google music and pandora, the music sounds great with no issues whether streaming or from my pinned playlists.
My only issue has been the inconsistent nature of if it provided the song info to my car's stereo. I have found that if I am on an FM station and then switch to bluetooth with my car for media that it always provides the information, so I am assuming that it is something to do with starting the car and syncing to the bluetooth immediately where maybe my stereo hasn't fully booted yet that is causing the audio to play but not getting the full music info.
Today I noticed a bug with BT audio and Navigation.
I have BT in my car so I connected my phone and started up my tunes like I always do and everything worked fine.
I needed to use Google Maps Navigation and on my previous phones using Nav with music playing (google play music streaming) worked fine.
Today I noticed that when ever Nav had an instruction for me, the music volume would drop, but no audio from Nav would play.
On my bluetooth profile on the phone I have phone and media audio running through bluetooth.
Anyone have a solution for me?

I can't speak on the potential bluetooth through car issue, but I have no issues with using a Supertooth 'visor' device, and at least in my opinion, the audio is of reasonable quality (though I've not tried to play music over it, just nav, and the occasional notification noises while on the drive).

In an effort to apologize for highjacking your thread:
If no music is playing, do you hear the nav instructions?
Maybe try toggling the voice instructions from the menu of the navigation app while it's running?
I don't think this will work, but maybe going into the settings page that has the three volume sliders and try moving those around to see if you get different results?
Maybe there's an issue with text-to-speech, but I'm not positive on how to fix this. I know there's some stuff in the settings section and you can install a third party TTS system, but no idea if that would help.
I think it goes without saying, have you tried re installing google maps?
Nope. Oddly enough the problem went away. Everything is fine now
