[Q] help please with firmware update

Hi there,
New to android phones was a sheep and had an iphone before. After reading how to get kies to work I have finally got the phone connect and kies is telling me that there is a firmware update available. However as soon as I click update and select the phone for it to upgrade it simply says that it can not complete the firmware update. Can anyone help me please or tell me of an easy way to get the update onto the phone.

You just got your phone connected to kies right and nothing else?

yeah it is only connected to kies but is still online as well do i need to put it in flight mode or such like

is wifi on if so disconnect wifi and unplug and replug the phone.

everything is off wifi and network still won't do it kies just says firmware update can not be completed have backed up everything off my phone and restored it to factory and then tried this and no joy

in kies there is a driver recovery option on the top left menu run that then unplug and plug in again

now getting a little further it starts to get into the downloading bit but then says msc.thunder.firmwareupdate has stopped working and closes. Any ideas how to sort this

Kies Wont Connect After Update

Hi
Just updated my Tab after Kies informed me that there was a new version, but after the update, Kies is bluntly refusing to connect to the tab. Just says 'Connecting...' forever.
I'm guessing that Samsung has stupidly managed to update the firmware in the device to a version that Kies cannot talk to.
Anyone else have this issue. Until I get it resolved there will be no further updates on my GT.
The build no post update is: FROYO.XWJJ3
I've done all the usual things: restart pc, restart tab, reinstall kies, install kies on fresh machine, blah, none of which have helped.
Any idea's?
Interestingly, post update, the only thing that I see thats different is that Samsung has installed 'The Dark Knight' and 'Clash of the Titans' trailers on my tab (now deleted). Those two files make up the lions share of the 'update' that I downloaded. Cheeky blighters. 'Sky News' and Whsmiths 'eBooks' apps have also appears - very very cheeky - enough rubbish on the tab beforehand without Samsung adding more. The new 'Apps' cant be deleted either...

[Q] Firmware Update Failed!

I had rooted my SGN before & restored to stock ROM DXKL2. However whenever i tried to update the firware from Software Update, it always says "Failed to update firmware. Try again using PC software (Kies) or Visit Samsung Service Center".
The update download & installation seemed to run well accordingly, but after reboot with "Uploading Media Files" display, the screen simply goes off half way for reboot again, and once SIM PIN gets input, the above display shows up.
May i know how is this happening? Thanks in advance.

What was the Firmware version when you bought the Phone?? If it is different than KL2, Try restoring firmware which was ter when u bought it. Then Update via Phone or Kies.

Thanks for the tips, Mr Ranjan.Alva. It really worked when i flashed it back to its out of the box stock ROM DXKJ3 Gingerbread 2.3.5.
It could simply download, install & reboot perfectly to latest ROM DXLA1 now

[Q] Samsung Gear1 bricked after update

My gear watch is stuck on the (firmware upgrade encounter an issue please select recovery mode in kies and try again }
Here is what I did:
When trying to get the null rom running.
I got into this problem "IF TWRP IS NOT DISPLAYING CORRECTLY LIKE THE FOLLOWING:", as shown here:

So I followed the first step:
DOWNLOAD THE STOCK V700XXUAMK7 IMAGE. (FLASH A FRESH INSTALL, DO NOT SKIP)
I accidentally flashed V700XXUCNE9, instead of V700XXUAMK7.
And then without setting up the watch on samsung gear and without getting into the debug mode, I tried to flash null again and it kept on stuck in the "NAND Write Start!!" message.
So I then tried to flash V700XXUAMK7 and it got stuck too after which I started getting
"firmware upgrade encounter an issue please select recovery mode in kies and try again"
I am unable to get into the download mode or the recovery mode. When I long press the power button, it throws me back to the "firmware upgrade encounter.." error.
Please please help. Is my watch recoverable ?
Update: I reflashed V700XXUCNE9 and its up and running now Looks like I was trying to downgrade it and thats where it was failing.
I want null rom on it and looks like it only can be put on top of V700XXUAMK7. How do I go back from V700XXUCNE9 to V700XXUAMK7 ? Can I flash null_03_TWRP2.7.tar on top of V700XXUCNE9 ?

You can, it does not care about any bootloader or stuff like that. It just repleaces a bunch of files on the system partition.

Lucky you, most of the times its a brick, i recommend you to use tizen the battery life on tizen is amazing

Thank you all. I was able to get back to Android and then flash the null ROM. I have the nova launcher running now but I am unable to use internet from my Android phone (LG Optimus G E970). It shows as paired but does not connect to the internet.
Also Play Store crashes when I try to add an account of use existing (says Google Account manager has stopped working).
How do I sync this thing with my phone, getinternet to work, make calls etc. ? Please help.

INTERNET ACCESS
GO INTO "FULL SETTINGS -> BLUETOOTH -> SELECT YOUR PHONE SETTING ICON (ON THE RIGHT OF PHONE NAME) -> TICK INTERNET ACCESS".
ENSURE BLUETOOTH TETHERING IS ENABLED ON YOUR PHONE BEFORE HAND OBVIOUSLY.
But I am still unable to access internet.

I have gone through a nearly identical process as you, accidentally flashing V700XXUCNE9, instead of V700XXUAMK7 and have been unable to get either TWRP or Null installed. You said, "I was able to get back to Android and then flash the null ROM". How did you do this? And did you resolve your issues with the internet access?

[Q] galaxy gear stuck on odin tizen update

i was on stock android rom .. i tried to update thru kies to tizen but it was taking too long to download the firmare..
i downloaded CNF1 firmware and tried flashing thru odin which stuck in zimage step
now i am in error mopde "firmware upgrade encounter error====
i am not able to connect to kies ...how do i now shut down the watch
how do i get back the watch working please help

As to your latest question, I don't know the answer. I'm in Canada, and after I flashed that version per the Youtube instructions, my phone version of Gear Manager quickly prompted me to perform a further update to the latest OTA version, which I did with no problems. Other than that, I left it alone. So far, so good.
If it aint broke, don't fix it!

I have made almost step as you, upgrade from stock to NF1 and same error message.
Solution to upgrade to nf1 from stock is to upgrade first to NE9.
So Stock --> NE9 --> NF1
It works for me

I dont know whats the different.. but i think we need files inside ne9 to install nf1 firmware.. i guess..

ok..btw is there any way to playmusic by say folder or create playlist on the watch as there seems to be no option...perhaps a 3rd part app or so

Did u upgrade your gear manager apps after upgrade your GG coz u can send music file by it into your GG after you doing it.
It will play music as stand alone player

no no..what I mean is the default player just plays sequentially. .There is no option for play list or folder play..
