How about Verizon?
Hey guys - sorry to revive an old thread (not sure if protocol is to start a new thread or what?).
Does anyone have tips on finding used Verizon 4G phones? My lady friend wants to get a 4G phone but not lose her unlimited data plan so we're looking at the used market.
I've seen Gazelle on eBay, they have a few phones. Just looking for other sites for comparisons sake.
Thanks for helping out a forum n00b!

the reason why verizon is the only in the US that has it is because they paid a sh*t load of money to samsung the have exclusivity, this happens on almost every smart phone, sprints getting it next because verizons exclusivity is running out and sprints re-upping it in a kind of way but verizon still gets to sell the phones.

were a commonwealth but the exclusivities dont apply to us, when verizon has exclusivity!!! plus we have an agreement with samsung and we get almost all samsung phones before others, excluding the exclusivities. we have GNEX GSM(only ones in P.R), Gnote int vers. (att is the other only one that carries it), galaxys s 2 i9100(we had it since june 2011), galaxy mini, galaxy ace, galaxy fit, nokia lumia 710 and 800, morola Razr etc. and guaranteed to have the SGS 3 before any other carrier here!!
Is non Verizon in P.R. and also Claro have SG Note and more check the wed you see to many cell that all company's have , my point is why know an sale SG Nex (GSM)

thats why I love Claro lol. I use ATT but i just trade or buy a Claro phone (since they bring the international versions) unlocked and not put up with carrier branded BS.
I have seen Galaxy Nexus's as low as $400 in clasificadosonline, so im picking one up soon maybe, unless they bring the HTC One X before that happens (Tegra 3 version)

I'm also on the same boat. I use AT&T here in PR and when I get the chance I try to get an unlocked phone from Claro. And, as mike21pr, if they get a HTC One X international version I might trade up from the GNexus that i'm rocking right now.
You are lucky ones

I thought claro used to be part of Verizon a few years back. I would have guessed they were cdma. I used to be able to go back to PR and use my Verizon phones and not roam but after Verizon and claro split I get roaming charges. I could be completely wrong and a simple Google search would answer my question. So I'll just go ahead and do that now. lol

Claro and verizon have never been the same company!!! Claro bought Verizon in P.R a few years back and Verizon no longer exists. Claro transitioned to gsm but theres still a couple of cdma towers up that do give service. Lte is supposed to roll out pretty soon here in Claro too. The reason we ge the international versions of the phones is because of ATT and Tmobile exclusivity with Usa phones, but as others have posted it is a big plus!! Plus the smartphones dont have to be USA price, for example the 16gb 4s is $99, 32gb $199, 64gb $299 thats $100 less each version than any other carrier on the island. Nexus $249 on contract $599 no contract, Note $299 contract $679 no contract.

I bet a lot of "reggeathon" gets played on those phones.

They are selling the Lumia 800 for $50 on contract. And the CR told me that they haven't heard anything about the HTC One X or S but the same thing happened with the GNexus and iPhone 4S and they announced it out of nowhere.
Any idea what CDMA bands Claro still operates in PR? I'm on Verizon in the US and will be traveling to PR later this year with my LTE Galaxy Nexus. Just want to be sure I can make voice calls.... not expecting any data other than Wifi.

same as verizon, but coverage is pretty spotty in cdma now cause of the transition. if im not mistaken you probably will get roaming with openmobile here in pr too. but it will works
ClaroPR is Puerto Rico's Verizon in short, same antennasn everything, a friend's old verizon razr even works still....
The reason is that even though Puerto Rico is Commonwealth of the USA, and all telephone companies are regulated by the FCC as in the states, ClaroPR follows FCC Regulations but are under Latin Americas buying policies. This said, even though Verizon (with over 67 million customers) bought the rights for Nexus in the USA, Claro/America Mobile (with over 230 million customers) buys them via Latin America. The same reason why we get the i (international) versions, e.g. i9000, i9100 for S1 and S2, and i9300 for S3 and not the North American versions. Meaning we get the modifiable versions, like when ICS 4.0 came out for the S2, we could upgrade our Claro S2's but not our AT&T or TMo's S2's

Yes Claro still supports Verizon CDMA Roaming, I have a friend right now visiting the Island and he is under CDMA 1x on his verizon phone and works perfectly

Just like prking07 said Claro bought Verizon PR a few years ago. Claro is in no way a mini Verizon, Verizon is the 12th largest on some lists with about 92 million subscribers, while Claro is the 4th largest in the world with well over 220 million subscribers. So it looks like Verizon is a mini Claro and not the other way around
I have business in PR from time to time and picked up a GT-I9100 from Claro for a friend who borked his at&t model a few months ago.
When i return in August, I hope that Claro has the ONE X by that point as I will probably pick one up for my wife.

[Q] Intl version. Will it work on all networks? + more silly questions

Hey !
I am thinking of buying HTC One when it is on sale here (India). I am not sure that HTC is gonna roll-out the LTE enabled version of the One or just the normal 3G one. I am mostly moving to the US for grad studies and I was thinking about buying the LTE enabled version or the normal (I'll call it that) version when I do. Should I buy the phone from India itself or from US? I don't think they would ask for residential proof or something to buy a sim-free unlocked phone.
I am kinda confused about the whole LTE thing as I feel it is..well a luxury item i guess?
And the main question, if I buy the phone from here........I think it would work only on limited GSM networks, right ?

Hey guys Im torn need advice on Note 4

Hi,
I am going to purchase a brand new note 4 for the first time from a reputable vendor i heard all the horror stories about ebay and blacklisted imei's so decided to shell out the $$$.
I saw brand new n910c going on amazon for a little over $600 which seems like a good deal but I know it doesnt support band 12 on tmobile's lte network. I do use tmobile but the cheapest i saw a tmobile note 4 was bestbuy which is like 800 with tax which seems pretty steep
Is it ok to go with the exynos n910c or will i regret it down the line if i dont have band 12 support? Or does anyone know of another place I can purchase a new note 4 tmobile wihtout having to buy tmobile service? Thanks.
I bought my Brand new N910T from Swappa for like $700 when it first came out. My Gf just got a brand new one for $600 on swappa last week so I'd suggest buying a brand new one from there if you can't get it directly from T-Mobile.
You will get bad battery life compared to a T-Mobile note 4 with band 12 but that's just NY $.02
im confused... if you use tmobile, why not get it from tmobile?
Yeah, Swappa. They check IMEIs for blacklisting and financing plans, so if a device makes it for sale there it's gonna be good. Currently I see a brand new Note 4 for Tmo for 540.... Comes with everything but no box.
The selling of devices or products on the XDA forums is against the rules. If your looking for a device go to Swappa if your selling go to Swappa.
Thread cleaned and locked as OP now knows where to go as recommended by XDA
