Mind at least telling us what the heck you did before this happened?
It would REALLY help us in diagonising your problem, you know.
heh i suppose it would wouldnt it!
I installed the battery icon mod..
Madkid21
How did you try odin? I think that should have done the job.

Have you downloaded an official ROM?
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
not yet, im not sure where to get it from! lol
i only had the phone like a month or 2, and i broke it but got it replaced under the warrenty lol
so where can i get a offical rom from?
There are lot of ROMs on samfirmware.com and guides on how to flash them. You need an account though.
Have you even flashed a ROM before?
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
i have flashed rom on a HTC Hero before, which was my old phone, but not on this phone, dunno how different its gonna be!
madkid21
Check samfirmware.com, it will help you (a lot).
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
thanks muchly, i will check back soon when i have attempted to flash it!
madkid21
BTW, you could also check Doc's ROM if you want to use custom rom. I personally use it and its great. It has also some good guides compiled on the first post. I strongly suggest you read the Doc-Froyo.pdf guide in that thread.
Good luck!

I just got a rooted Atrix 4G which is running 2.2.2 but I can't tell if its stock or not and I want to upgrade to Gingerbread somehow. I don't know what to do exactly in order to have it. So if some who has had the same question about this was able to upgrade to Gingerbread and could help me out that would be great. Also If i need to uproot in order to get it please help me out with that to I looked into aRoot and that seemed a little bit skeptical so just let me know via PM or the thread.
.......really? :|

for starters, go to menu>settings>about phone and see if anything there gives away the state of your rom. also, is your BL unlocked (does it show unlocked on motorola boot animation)?
If your phone has all the blur content and has certain things locked down and such then chances are its stock.
another thing to check is whether or not your system is deodexed as most custom roms are.
I don't know a foolproof way of checking myself.
Alright well I don't think my phone has a custom rom on it but here is what I have just to make sure im right. I do know my phone does not have an unlocked b.l
System Version: 4.1.83MB860.ATT.en.US
Model:MB860
Baseband: N_01.77.15P
Webtop: oshwt_u1_4.257.30
Build number: OLYFR_U4_1.8.3
Let me know if I need anything else. I would take a screenshot but the app doesn't work for some reason.
Sent from my MB860 using XDA App
seems like stock. at any rate, the OTA image will fail to update during the version check if it's not. follow motorola's update instructions here: http://www.motorola.com/Support/US-EN/Android_Products/ATRIX-4G_Software_Update_Page

Hi I was just wondering if you guys knew some cool stuff to do with a rooted phone. Is it possible to theme a stock ROM? Also what's the deal with overclocking and I/O scheduling? Thanks in advance
Sent from my SGH-I896 using XDA App
Yes you can theme a stock rom. And overclocking can only happen with a kernel that is ready to support it.
Keep reading, just make sure you build numbers match

So after I root my wifes captivate with super one click, I can install current nightly with google add on through Rom manager? She had an HTC aria running current nightly and I had to do it always through CWM. Which is not a problem. its because ROM manager didn't work with HTC arias. A little buggy here and there. But I heard its allot easier through ROM manager. But is it safe? Thxs guys.

rom manager is terrible on the galaxy s phones
Thanks. good to know. I'll be doing it from CWM then.
i am not knocking koush and all those involved with ROM manager. i bought the premium version for my other phones, and i love it, but i have to blame samsung and their method of recovery. rom manager just doesnt play well with galaxy s phones. it 'sort of' works once you have CM7 installed. again, its not rom managers fault, its the crappy recovery we have to deal with.
What would be the easiest way to theme a stock ROM? Things like notification pulldown, status bar, battery icons, lockscreen, etc.

find and read the million already written tutorials.read the new user guide.
read read read.
oh and to your original question....
why in hell would you root if you dont know what to do with root?
that kind of methodology will end up giving you a 400$ paperweight.
READ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ANY MODERATOR will tell you XDA is NOT a place to spoon feed babies.it is a community development forum FOR DEVELOPING. it is NOT a "help me do this" fourm.
xda is not a place to "make your phone cool" it is a place of learning and developing.
I rooted for several reasons. I just asked to see what other people were doing with their phones. Anyways, alright next time I'll just go post somewhere else where they hopefully don't mind "spoon feeding babies."

Personally, i stay away from ROM Manager, because CWM works better for me anyways, and i can guarantee that i know EXACTLY whats going on while its flashing...plus ROM Manager, like stated before, SUCKS on Galaxy S devices..
Hello this is my first time here and this is very different than the xperia play section. Well my friend has a moto droid and.I would like to know how to.root it and unlock the bootloader. Also what is the fastest and most stable rom? Thank you for your time
Sent from my R800x using XDA
...first off, wrong section. This should be in Q&A.
Second off following any of the below advice is at your own risk (mainly because this is 100% from memory and I can remember things wrong sometimes ). Before you trust what I tell you I recommend reading the Q&A section, as I assure you you're not the first person to ask how to root the first android phone to be offered by Americas largest carrier.
The OG Droid doesn't require anything to unlock the boot loader, its not locked.
Since its on such an outdated version of android pretty much any generic one click root tool should work to get root. Try super one click or the like. From there you should be able to use rom manager to flash a current recovery. Then just put one of the fine roms from these here development forums on the SD card and have fun.

Can someone post a guide or someting about how to make the phone faster? anyway want rom do u recommend?
Do a search on here, there have been plenty of threads, also check out droid forums, they have stuff too. That's how I learned a lot just reading. Once you've rooted its easy. A good app to check out since you're rooted is rom manager, set cpu, titanium backup, wireless tether, file manager. Always make a nandroid backup before flashing a rom or kernel( provides overclock)

you can download rsd lite and flash the clockworkmod recovery spf. It won't root your phone, but it will give you a recovery(which is better). Now just install your custom rom. I recommend cyanogenmod 7 or steel droid for stability and speed, their also pre-rooted, maybe find a Overclocked kernel if you want INSANE speeds...

Steel Droid 10.5(I REALLY RECOMMEND this is what I USE, it's also overclocked to 1ghz) http://bravo.d-h.st/PfV?key=1340527851
SN:Google apps not needed with steel droid.
If you need more help here's a guide: http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/wiki/Motorola_Droid_2:_Full_Update_Guide
Hope this helps you friend... There may come a time when you have to do all the research yourself... if so remember, Google's your friend too!!!:good:

Did you figure your problem out yet? You have to flash a kernel w/cwm; Other than that, in my opinion clockwork mod is racist towards i897 (captivate) If your still struggling; let me know and I'll walk you through from start to finish! I'm newbie so I know how things may get frustrating at times. Oh and don't worry about me being a newbie; I learn quickly!

Yes I finally got it but it was a pain. I did what the link told me to and bricked my phone. Then I had to use Odin to bring it back to stock and my phone would not update from elcair. I then went to Samsung's website and downloaded the updates and tried to follow what the link above said and it worked. I am now on JB with no issues.
I bought this phone from craigslist and I think I bricked it because the phone was running eclair and I was trying to go straight to ICS.
