Hey guys,
Im Jack... mod over at modmymoto.com . Just sold my Motorola MPx300's, traded my A1200 Ming smartphone and trashed a Crapberry for an HTC S620.
I'm much happier now.
Just wanted to introduce myself.
Welcome aboard man.
No way!? Jack, you really got rid of all your Motorolas!? Treason!!!!! haha
Welcome, welcome my friend. I used to have a Moto V300, the got a SE P910i, then Nokia N80, then a BB Curve, then the HTC Herald, and my current device HTC Kaiser. I came a long way, lol, probably not as long as others. My next device will be the Nokia N96. As you can see, I like variety, but staying clear of that so called apple phone, lol.
twould seem that the herald forum is a springboard for alot of upper members and ideas
HTC herald............innovating since god knows when.
But anyway..... congrats on the switch. I find it exorbitant to trade all that for just one excalibur.
about 2 years ago i did what you did now.
i was a Nokia man!
@ doctor... do I know you? Fr0m M3?
@fzzyrn... It wasnt just for an Excalibur... I got lots of beer, 2 tanks of gas 2 Excaliburs and some other stuff.....
Haha. I don't think you know me. But I'm from M3 yes. I found this place when I got my Wing.
I'm The Omega Protocol at M3. I ported the Black Remedy Skin to 176 and then Sold the Dragon V3r. T_T I kinda wish I hadn't. lol But I am very happy with my Wing which now runs Touch-IT [Touched by Vista].
Welcome. I too gave up my MPx300, Sony Ericsson and Blackberry devices for HTC. You're gonna love it here.
I loved my MPx300, a bit bulky but it was truly awesome for a device of it's time.

Yeah...It was definitely ahead of its time. It was the memory issue that killed me. I had 2 of them.
@ Doctor...good to see you here!
Likewise.
So, how is the S620? I've always wondered.
Impressive.. sturdy, stable and very responsive. I especially like the keypad... each button is well defined.
I <3 my Wing. [Thanks papa!!!!]
Have you modded it at all yet? Kavana's Rom maybe? lol Or are you still stock...which is like a sin. haha
Welcome to the fold. My first "smart" phone was the Moto E680i, loved that phone. Super stable linux OS, the best Chinese sip I've ever seen, nice form factor, lots of mods etc. Every time I see someone stressing about flashing a WM phone I chuckle and think of the days when I had to telnet into the phone for even the slightest of tweaks. I gave it away when I got my hermes and my friend is still using it...over three years of hard use and it's still going, that thing is a tank. Anyway welcome to the forums and say goodbye to all your evenings and weekends for the next 6 months.....

Hello, my name is Jesse W. and I am a flash-a-holic. Welcome to this meeting of Flash-A-Holics Anonymous.
Flash-A-Holics Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength, and hope with each other that they may solve their common problem and help others to recover. The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop flashing and become electronically sober.
It all started with me back several years ago when I purchased my first Windows Mobile PDA from Cingular, which was the model 8525/TyTN. I was introduced to xda-developers and saw many people were flashing custom roms. I was too afraid then to flash a custom rom, so instead took the safer road and flashed a Cingular rom. I soon grew tired of this pda because more than one email account would render the device useless and it locked up constantly. I did, however, sit in front of my computer screen in cold sweats, completely drunk with anticipation and fear of flashing a custom rom. My next pda was an iphone, and soon grew tired of its inflexability and inability to customize, so I sold it and purchased a Polaris. Soon after, while reading through the list of custom roms available, I took the plunge and downloaded one. I was so drunk with excitement, I honestly don't even remember which one it was. My hands were shaking violently as I scrolled through the instructions. I installed Olinex's HardSPL and it worked!!! I was ecstatic!! I almost fainted as I slowly plugged the usb cable into the phone and rebooted it into HSPL. I must have blacked out because I can't remember the actual flashing procedure. The next thing I remember is configuring multiple working email accounts to my ultimate delight! Months later, I tripped over a udK rom message and read how everyone was flocking to his roms, so I tried one. And it wasn't much longer and he had another updated rom out. Drat! I had to flash again... Then again... Each time the feeling of elation a little less than before, the fear not as pressing, the anticipation not as overwhelming. Then he released a rom with Manila 2D. I was one of the rats caught behind the Pied Piper being lead on a journey with no control of my own. I was hooked. I had become an addict. I had become.... a flash-a-holic. I changed to the Diamond series roms by itje soon after because I liked the look and feel of the device interface. Then I bought an HD. Not because I wanted to... because I **HAD** to. Those of you who are true flash-a-holics will understand. If you're sitting there scratching your head, it's not too late for you, you still have a way out. Seeing a custom rom by Dutty, I couldn't resist. I flashed the rom. I've flashed about every rom that comes out by Dutty now, because I can't stand not to have the latest, greatest rom on my precious hd. Just about every weekend I flash. I think I flash in my sleep... v1.9 extreme is the latest, and I just finished flashing it an hour ago and just now got all my settings back to the way I like them.
If there are any other true flash-a-holics out there, please feel free to share.
** Sorry this got so long, I just couldn't resist heheheee.....
Jesse
Only every weekend? I flash mine sometimes 2 to 3 times a day, compound that with I have 2 HD's and thats 4-6 times a day.
OK I will have to admit it slowed down a bit over the last few days but I'm sure it will pick back up soon.
I love to test new ROM's and love to flash my HD

I never thought i would be an addict, that was only for the weak....
My name is Mike and i have a problem....
For me it started with my first Winmo phone, the JASJAR.. I tried to modify it into something more useable and cant even remember which rom i flashed it with..
But as soon as i got the tytn 2 it all went horribly wrong!! I cant remember the first rom i put on it, but then everyone was using the hyperdragon roms, so i changed to that.. Was so excited at how much more use there was in my phone.. Had just got all the progs and settings back to how i wanted them, and a new rom was available!!!
I hesitated about going through all the procedure again for all of about 5 seconds, then flashed the new one, and by the time it was all back to running the way i like there was another new rom!!!
This went on for a couple of weeks until i had to go on holiday to prevent madness setting in...and how painful that was you will never know... a top quality hotel in Turkey with a very slow wirelss connection that would cut out after you had used 1Meg of bandwidth....
Now I have the HD and my symptoms are slowly clearing up due to the current climate of disillusion, but I have no doubt i will be flashing away to my hearts content in a few weeks.....
I would like to thank all my support group for all the help that is given freely and without hesitation, and i might have to look at training to be a chef to slow me down.... or will that make me worse??
Problem; I ain't got no stupid problem. So I flash my PDA a few times a d-d-day...
It all started in the 90's with computers: First I flashed my motherboard BIOS, seeing some nice performance enhancements.
Next thing you know, I'm flashing my vidio card, modem, CD player; I even flashed the home entertainment DVD player.
I would have never been noticed, but I just had to flash the wife's sewing machine....bricked it!
All these years later, here I am hanging out with a bunch of losers......I can quit anytime I want.....ANYTIME!!!
LOL
Hello,
i'm do0fusz, a dofus to the knowhow of flashing, buth still a addict..
Just yesterday i went from 1.8 dutty to L26, to the Lite02282009.
this mornin to dutty 1.9..
i neeed mooooree..
annyone got a good hit for me :|
getting dry here!
* flashed my mother in law...
sewed me
i flash my device two times a day
couldnt choose what to preffer
davideuck for its speed
or duttys for its layout
Don't forget, flashing people is crossing the line...
I don't think I have a problem with flashing. I have limitted myself to flashing inanimate objects at least. I find that the changes which come after flashing sentient objects (people) tend to be undesirable. I flashed some fruit, and some trees (out of scientific curiousity). I could swear they're more vibrant than before, but that might just be some sort of placebo effect... Flashing people on the other hand... well... It just makes them angry. I believe there are too many male flashers and not enough female flashers, and this is what makes most people angry...
Oh... you're talking about flashing roms onto phones... nevermind.
Caid.
i need help!
i flashed a parrot, he starred laughing at me :|
I Cant Resist
Yes I to am a FLash-A-holic...I flash roms, radios everything. I can't seem to stop. It's like my diamond is calling me, I even dream of flashing. Right now i'm waiting for the ultimate "flash" hit....http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=486471. Unfortunately I dont have an HD yet, but you can only imagine what would happen once IF I got one. lol...Do I need help NOOOOOO it's freedom. I love seeing people on the bus with the diamond and stock rom inching over to look at my custom roms..I've even flashed on the bus "internal method" just out of the need LMAO!!!

Another Flasher-a-Holic and hunter-A-Holic here!
Sad state of affairs our lives have become. HATE YOU HTC! Every day, looking for roms, better software updates, new realsess, news on the future..... love it really... i think or just addicted to making this HD as powerful as possible with the most productive software EVER!!!!
Sound fricking CRAZZZY
Does this journey ever end people we will get back to the old ways of life.... do we want to???
The CRACK is good JA?
Hello my name is Vizag Dude.
Every one else in the room: Hello Vizag Dude....
I am flash-a-holic as well. I am so addicted, that I stopped working. I go to work and even before I start my OutLook, I open my IE browser and pick the first option in my Favs, Blackston: XDA-Developers section.
I am sure if the Admin would check the amount of time I am spending in this forum, he would go crazy. I login from my train via my HD to see if any new ROMs have been released. I go home and putting my 1 year old to sleep, with one hand, I would be browsing this section to see if there were any new posts or new threads. After my polaris, when I got my HD, I told myself, this is an expensive device and i will not flash much. But I could not resist, I think, the First cooked ROM I flashed for my device was Ponosha's... and thats it, from then on... I keep flashing every day... sometimes 2 or 3 times a day.
Thank you all for your support.

Hi
I'm Hellonasty and i flash my HD more and less 10 times a day!!!
I'm crazy? lool
I believe I may be a Flash-A-Holic too if only because I'm developing my own custom ROMs. ROM R&D takes A LOT of flashing.
Hello my name is Chris, and I am a flash-a-holic !!!
Touch HD & Raphael constant flashing new ROM's just to see how they work and look, i never knew it could be so addictive !!! what with this forum and facebook i will never need to go outside LOL !!!
Love this place and the friends here...
Chris
I just want to thank everyone who's developed Android on the Vogue and the rest of this community who's been so helpful. I got 26 months out of my phone which is about 20 more months than I though I'd get and that is a credit to the devs.
I received my HTC Incredible yesterday and officially retired my Vogue. I appreciate your hard work and dedication as well as your willingness to share.
Its weird having every thing work on my new phone but I'm sure I'll end up rooting and breaking things as I go along
Thanks,
Hexto

Don't be a stranger!
How's the incredible?
I'd also like to know how the Incedible is... night and day better than the Vogue? I want to upgrade, but really don't want to sign another 2 year contract. Our contract with Verizon FINALLY ends in September of this year and I'd like to keep my options open... but Verizon does seem to be the best (despite their nazism on bandwidth caps for 'unlimited' plans). Oh how I miss Alltel...
I won't be a stranger. I'm programmed to checking the Vogue Android section daily.
The Incredible is awesome. Super fast and responsive. It really is like night and day from the Vogue and I was happy with my Vogue. I don't see a need to root it and mess with it though I'm sure I'll end up doing it anyway
I will second Hexto's THANK YOU to
everyone who's developed Android on the Vogue and the rest of this community who's been so helpful.

I've purchased a couple of Vogues off Ebay and have one running WM6.5/Android 2.1 v7 (mssmison). It's challenging and a learning experience to be able to manipulate these phones. I wouldn't be able to do it without this forum.
well i got a hero today, so i guess this is a farewell of sorts.
i have been running this for a long time like 1.0 days and i have seen tons of faces come and go, and dev or not you all are awesome.
but i would like to thank all the devs past and present for making this kick so much ass.
i will still swing by often as my vogue will still be around.
thanks for everything
I hope you had a good time with us! Enjoy your new device!
best of luck in Hero-land. Make sure to check in with us from time to time.
congrats on the new phone. i got a hero and if you need any help man just pm me
This is my goodbye as well, got my evo when it was released and have been thrilled with it. I do miss my vogue and you guys though.
So Ive been a "member" of this forum for going on 3 years and just today Ive been promoted to a member! ahahaha
I started with my favorite phone ever the HTC 8525, loved the dev team for that phone ...but i broke the screen on that. So i moved to the HTC Magic 32A and great devs there really hard workers and i sort of miss that phone. But now i am on to the amazing Xperia X10! Glad i have this phone IMO it is one of the best phones on the market now thanks to the devs here.
anyways back to the topic;
To be honest i'm sort of proud of that because it goes to show how much you can learn from the handy dandy SEARCH BUTTON!
Search button is our best friend
Started to read XDA aprox in 2005 when I got my HTC Universal but got subscribed on Feb 07 so I will get 4 years in a few days!
I started reading here on the 12th of december 2010, same day i bought my nook...
